Hello there!
Author's Note: I have really had a very enlightening experience writing this... perhaps one of the wonderful times of my life and definitely, the most fundamental crux of this year today. The first Section is completed, and now we are on the second section.
I have decided to include some new characters from the canon. One is Rae Sloane, who ultimately became a Grand Admiral who fought the New Empire after the Battle of Endor. Presently, she is just a lieutenant in the navy. But don't worry, you don't really need to have read the new canon material; they are just like new characters, and I've introduced them at a starting level. Hope you enjoy it. Please leave reviews. They really do help. May the Force be with You.
The Apprentice instead of the Master
Section II

Lieutenant Rae Sloane looked on ahead at the empty abyss of black space from the bridge of the Star Destroyer… It was lined presently in various scatters of white and bright dots and blurs… all haphazard and irregular…
There was no order in the Universe… unless one made it so… Unless, the order was constructed and imposed. Now the Galactic Republic had been reshaped…. Become an Empire now…
Sloane was a young girl, and she didn't know how deep to ponder about this… but she was well versed enough to understand the dynamics… She had just joined a few months ago, and she desperately yearned action, but the Republic would not send a new recruit to battle in the Clone Wars.
"Lieutenant Sloane."
"Yes, Sir." She immediately jumped to attention at the presence of her commandant.
"Be watchful and wary; things have occurred and moved past very quickly. We have to keep on our guard."
"Is the war truly over, Sir?"
"So we have heard…"
"But that was the Chancellor who just made this announcement…"
"Yes," said Pell Baylo, "he has made a very many other announcements as well…"
The commandant looked at her kindly. He was a short stout man who had been serving the Republic for years now. Sloane respected him greatly – he was her mentor and that of countless other new recruits… Baylo was harsh and demanding of them sometimes and he often overworked them on the training decks of the Defiance, but Sloane took it all in and used it to better herself for her role. She'd been tempted to devote her absolute loyalty towards him… until she realised another lesson of the service… servitude to the cause and order and not the person. The system over the individual. And by extension, rule and law over freedom and liberty.
He walked away slowly… Sloane wished to ask Baylo more, she really wished so, but she knew he wouldn't partake in a political conversation at that point with his student – perhaps to guard her as well? He was a fierce and independent thinker and despite his many years of experience and talents, Palpatine's administration had not promoted or recognised him at all. Baylo didn't wish to associate his ideals and jeopardise any of his students or staff…
"Sloane, you okay?" Asked a young man, her peer, who too wore the dark khaki uniform of the Republic Navy as her.
"I am." She said.
"I don't know… you know…" He said aloud wishing to really share out his opinions, though Sloane was not very enthusiastic. "Looks like the war is over … I am nervous, I gotta say. I always wanted to do something, to be something big, well now, I have it. Now, we have it…. We're Imperials now."
Rae did not bother to answer but allowed herself further to take in what he just said. What is the future now?
A Jedi attack on the Chancellor… I don't know if I thought much about them, she thought. Jedi. The galaxy always regarded them suspiciously…. And now, they've considered overthrowing the Chancellor of the Republic…. Well, they've been defeated… Palpatine always ensured his word came through. And the Separatists too… Rae imagined the not too bright battle droids she always saw on holo-vids, all deactivated… It's just the Empire now, and their soldiers and officers.
I give my all to the coming actions of the Empire. I've always wanted to be a part of a force for order and stability, and that has come up right now. It is my duty. And I will do it.
