Market: Menagerie
Walking through the Menagerie market, looking at all the produce stands and other stalls, a young wolf faunus with white and gray hair is shopping for groceries and other items to bring home. As she walks, other faunus greet her while merchants try to get her to come over and check out their stalls. After buying some apples and other fruits from a stall, the wolf faunus woman decides to check out a few more stalls before she heads home.
"Fruits, check, vegetables, check, now all I need is some special seasonings and some meat for dinner tonight" the wolf faunus woman says to herself as she goes down her shopping list
It didn't take the young wolf faunus woman to finish up all of her shopping down at the market. As she walked home past the docks, the young wolf faunus woman heard something that caused her to stop walking.
"What was that?" The wolf faunus woman asks as her ears perk up
Listening around, the wolf faunus woman hears the noise again and decides to check out. Following the noise, the wolf faunus woman walks down one of the docks towards the water. As she gets closer and closer, the wolf faunus woman is able to hear the sound more and more. She is able to hear it enough to make the sound as crying.
"Crying?" The wolf faunus woman asks herself confused
Coming towards the end of the dock, the wolf faunus woman stops and looks around before looking down at the water below. Floating against one of the dock's beams was a small covered whicker basket where the crying was coming from.
"Arise" the wolf faunus woman says as her eyes glow blue
All of a sudden the water slowly starts to rise upwards towards the wolf faunus woman underneath the basket. Once the whicker basket was close enough to her, the wolf faunus woman grabbed the basket as the water fell back down.
"Gotcha" the wolf faunus woman says as she backs away from the edge of the docks
The wolf faunus woman hears noises coming from the basket as she sets it down. Lifting up the cover of the basket, the wolf faunus woman discovers a little baby in the basket.
"A baby?" The wolf faunus woman asks confused
The baby looks up at the wolf faunus woman and reaches out towards her, trying to grab her
"A human baby" the wolf faunus woman says as she sees the baby in the basket isn't a faunus like she is
Looking around, the wolf faunus woman decides to pick the baby up and take it out of the basket
"You don't have a scent little guy" the wolf faunus woman says as she discovers she can't smell the baby
The baby just giggles and nuzzles itself into the wolf faunus woman's chest
"How did you end up all the way here? That doesn't really matter now, looks like you are coming home with me" the wolf faunus woman says as she looks down at the baby in her arms
The baby yawns and slowly starts to close its eyes before going to sleep
"I wonder what Todd is going to say about you? I know Accalia is going to enjoy you" the wolf faunus woman says, looking at the sleeping baby before she finally grabs her basket and heads home
Remnant, a wide and vast world filled with all types of humans, faunus and creatures that live in the four nations of Remnant. Remnant may seem peaceful however that isn't true, soulless creatures known as grimm roam Remnant and kill everything. In order for mankind to survive the grimm, young men and women from all nations attend special school and academies where they learn to hunt and fight the grimm. These young men and women are known as huntsmen and huntresses and they are humanities first and last defense against the grimm
Using their unique weapons and powers known as semblances, the huntsmen and huntresses go out and kill the grimm wherever they may be. While each nation has its own academy to train young huntresses and huntsmen. One such academy found in the nation of Vale rises above all the rest. This academy is known as Beacon Academy and it is run by headmaster Ozpin. Only a select few ever make it into Beacon Academy and even fewer actually become fully fledged huntsmen and huntresses.
This story is about a young man with a unique talent who is one of the lucky few to get accepted into Beacon Academy. This is his story and how he rises above the others to become one of the greatest huntsmen in all of Remnants history.
Forest Clearing: Menagerie
Standing in the middle of a forest clearing, a young man with messy brown hair and green eyes who is wearing a black and white jacket over a white shirt with black fingerless gloves with a strange watch-like device on his wrist is standing still, waiting for something

"There we go" the young man says with a grin on his face
All of a sudden, a stone shard flies past the young man's face before he flips backwards and dodges more stone shards that are flying at him. The young man continues to dodge oncoming stone shards that are flying at him.
"Too easy" the young man says as he grabs a stone shard and throws it at a tree
Suddenly all of the stone shards stop flying at the young man as he dusts himself off before walking towards some bushes. Hiding behind the bushes is a device that is designed to throw stone shards, hiding in other bushes are similar devices.
"Maybe I should have Juryrigg build a better launching device" the young man says to himself before he leaves the clearing
Time Skip
Vulpes Residence: Menagerie
Far off near the coast of Menagerie, a small brick and cobblestone two story house belonging to Vulpes family. As the young man from the forest walks up the pathway to the house the door suddenly opens. Out runs three small faunus children, one appears to be a wolf girl another looks like a fox boy and the third looks like a hybrid of a fox and wolf.
"BIG BROTHER!!!" The children yell as the run up to the young man
"Hey there guys" the young man says with a chuckle as he bends down on a knee and hugs the three small children
"Momma, big brother is back" the wolf girl says, calling out to her mother
A familiar looking wolf faunus woman walks out of the house and leans up against the frame of the door
"How was training Ben?" The wolf faunus woman asks the young man, revealing his name
"It went well mom, I think I'm going to do a bit of tweaking to the devices some time tomorrow" Ben answered
"I don't think you'll be doing that" Ben's mother said
"What do you mean mom?" Ben asked confused
Ben's mother then took a sealed envelope out of her pocket and held it up
"It came?" Ben asked
"Yep" Ben's mother answered with a grin on her face
"Big brother Ben is going to be a hunter" the wolf boy said smiling
"Yeah for big brother" the fox faunus girl said cheering for Ben
"Don't get too excited Finn, Crystal" Ben told his two young siblings
Ben then took off his jacket as he walked inside, his three siblings following behind them eagerly
Small Time Skip
Sitting down at the family table, Ben held the envelope in his hands, looking down at it nervously. Inside of the envelope was a letter from one of the most prestigious schools in all of Remnant, Beacon Academy. The letter could be an acceptance letter or either a rejection letter, the latter was what Ben was hoping for.
"Did I miss it? Did he open the letter yet?" A voice asked
In walked an older fox faunus man with bright orange hair, this was Ben's father, Todd Vulpes
"No Todd, Ben hasn't opened his letter yet" Ben's mother answered
"Good, I wouldn't want to miss this for the world" Ben's father said, sounding excited
"They have to let big brother in, they let big sister Accalia" Crystal said
"That is true, your big brother is bound to get in" Ben's mother told his little sister
"No pressure I guess" Ben said nervously as he looked at the envelope
"Don't worry son, I'm sure you'll get in" Ben's father tells him, trying to boost his confidence
Ben looked at the envelope and took in a deep breath before letting it out and beginning to open the envelope. Slowly Ben opened the envelope and pulled put the sealed letter. Breaking the seal, Ben slowly opened the letter and unfolded it to reveal what it had said.
"Dear Mr. Benjamin Vulpes
It is with our sincerest apologies that we must inform you that you have been rejected from becoming a student at Beacon Academy. While your academics are some of the highest we have seen as well as your athletics we simply cannot accept you. As you know, those without an aura and a semblance are easily slain by the creatures of grimm. The school cannot put its reputation as well as your safety I'm jeopardy. It is with our humblest apologies that this is what we must do to ensure your safety.
Sincerely: Beacon Academy Board Of Education"
Ben slowly sat the letter down on the table and didn't say a word, he just sat there
"What a load of Beowolf sh…" Ben's father said before he was interrupted
"Language!!!" Ben's mother told his father
"Sorry Nina but this is preposterous, they can't just reject my son, he has been training to be a huntsmen since he was 5 years old" Ben's father said, slamming his fist against the wall
"I understand Todd but there is nothing that we can do, the school board has made up their minds" Ben's mother told his father
"Our son has incredible talents even without a semblance and an aura" Ben's father said, standing up for him
Ben looked down at the black and gray watch-like device on his wrist and ran his hand over the faceplate with the hourglass design on it

"Ben, do you have something to say about this?" Ben's mother asked him, seeing that he hadn't said a word yet
"It is a lot to take in, I guess I could go start working with father at the store" Ben answered with a shrug of his shoulders
"No, I am going to have a word with Ozpin about this, no one says no to my son after all he's been through" Ben's father said before he ran off
Ben let out a sigh as he stood up from his seat and began to walk away from the table
"I'm heading out, I'll be back before dinner starts" Ben tells his mother as he leaves
"Oh, okay Ben, I'll try to stop your father before he does something stupid" Ben's mother says
"Is big brother upset?" Crystal asks her mother
"Yeah momma, is big brother Ben upset?" Finn asks his mother
As Ben leaves the house, closing the door behind him, his other little sister leaves the table and follows behind Ben without her mother seeing her leave
Time Skip
Shoreline: Menagerie
Sitting against a rock, looking out at the ocean as the waves crash against the shore, Ben let's out a sigh. Thinking about how he was rejected by Beacon Academy like that, Ben knew he should have seen it coming. Unlike most humans and faunus in this world, Ben did not posses an aura, a shield made of one's life energy nor a semblance, a unique power that only that person has. Both were essential for a huntsmen and huntress to succeed at missions and killing grimm. Ben lacked both no matter how much training he did and knew that those two things would be a hindrance for him.
"Should have seen this coming, guess I should focus on doing something else with my life" Ben says to himself as he throws a rock into the water
"If big sister Accalia saw you quitting she'd kick your butt" a voice tells Ben
Looking over, Ben sees his little sister standing there, looking down at him
"What are you doing out here Lila?" Ben asks his little sister
"I was following you to make sure you weren't feeling bad" Lila answered
"I see, does mom or dad know you followed me here?" Ben asked his sister
"No, momma is busy trying to stop daddy from doing something stupid" Lila answered
"Figures, dad is the one who always overreacts while mom always keeps her cool" Ben says
Lila walks over to Ben and sits down next to him, looking at the ocean with him
"Are you going to use the watch to help you get into that school far away?" Lila asks Ben, pointing at the watch-like device on his wrist
"I thought about it but I don't think it will help me since it isn't a semblance and I still don't have an aura" Ben answers
Hearing that, Lila let out a depressed sigh
"Those meanies wouldn't say no to you if they saw Humungousaur or even Heatblast" Lila says pouting
"I guess you are right about that, who knows what might happen" Ben says with a chuckle as he pats Lila on the head
"Maybe you could go there and talk to that Ozpin person daddy keeps talking about" Lila suggested as her ears perked up
Ben thought about it for a second, while the board of the school rejected him, Ozpin was the headmaster of the school and from what he heard about the man from his mother and father, Ozpin tended to do what he liked
"Maybe I could do it, prove myself to the headmaster and show him that regardless of not having an aura or a semblance, I can still become a huntsman" Ben said, sounding a bit more confident
"Maybe use the watch to help you out a bit?" Lila asked Ben
Ben looked down at the watch-like device on his wrist and thought about using it to help him convince Ozpin
"I guess it couldn't hurt but maybe I'll save it for last" Ben answered
"Yay, big brother is going to go to Beacon" Lila said excitedly
"Don't get your hopes up, I still have to get to Vale and prove myself to Ozpin" Ben tells Lila
"Do you think Blake is going to be there?" Lila asked Ben
Hearing that name, Ben paused for a moment and remembered a friend from his childhood. Last Ben had heard about Blake, she had officially joined the White Fang and had left Menagerie.
"I don't know Lila, I really don't know" Ben answered as he patted Lila on the head
Time Skip
Docks: Menagerie
Standing on the Menagerie docks in front of a boat that would take him to the mainland, Ben was saying his goodbyes to his family. His mother and father along with his three younger siblings all were hugging him and wishing him luck on his journey.
"You are doing the right thing Ben" Ben's mother told him as she hugged him
"You are going to prove them all wrong" Ben's father told him as he held onto his shoulder
"Don't worry dad, I won't let either of you down" Ben said, looking at both his parents
"I know you won't son" Ben's father said with a smile
"We love you" Ben's mother told him
"And I love you guys, you've always been there for me, through everything and I know you always will be" Ben said
"Big brother Ben, we're gonna miss you" Finn says to Ben
"You'll be gone for a long time" Crystal says, sounding upset
"Don't worry about me you two, I will miss you as well but I will make sure to call home everyday and talk to you" Ben tells his two siblings, cheering them up
"Momma helped me get this for you big brother" Lila tells Ben as she hands him a wooden box
"What is it?" Ben asked Lila
"Open it" she answered
Ben slowly opened the box and saw a dagger with a leather wrapped handle and carvings going down the blade

"Your sister saved up all of her money so I could buy that for you" Ben's mother tells him
"It looks beautiful, I will make sure to take good care of it" Ben tells Lila, patting her on the head
With that, Ben puts away his new dagger and says one last goodbye to his family before he gets on his boat and heads for the mainland, leaving his home and his family. He would be going to Vale, the place where Beacon Academy was and from there, Ben would prove himself worthy to be a student.
Time Skip
City Streets: Vale
It was late at night and the moon shined down on the city of Vale, Ben had finally arrived. Since it was late, Ben decided that it would be best if he found an inn where he could stay for the night. From there he would head to Beacon Academy were he would meet with the headmaster of the school, Ozpin and prove himself to the man. As easy as that sounded, Ben knew that there was a good chance that he wouldn't get accepted into Beacon and all of this would be for nothing. However, Ben wasn't going to be thinking like that, he knew that he had the skills and the talent to become a student at Beacon Academy and learn to become a huntsman.
"Really need to find a place to sleep for the night" Ben said to himself as the cold wind blew past his face
Ben had brought a good portion of money with him but the problem was finding an inn that had an available room he could rent for the night. So far none of the inns in Vale had an available room for Ben to rent and was looking more and more like he was going to have to sleep on the streets his first night in Vale. Walking around for awhile, Ben found a bench under a street lamp where he could sleep, using his coat, Ben covered himself up and laid down on the bench.
"I've been through far worse, this is nothing for me" Ben said to himself as he looked up at the night sky
Ben wanted to call his parents and let them know what was going on with him so far now that he had arrived in Vale but Ben didn't want to explain to them that he was going to be sleeping out on the street
"Maybe it would be best that I just message them that I'll call them in the morning" Ben says to himself with a sigh
Thinking back to a few days ago, Ben remembered his sister Lila bringing up Blake, a childhood friend of Ben's who had left Menagerie years ago after she joined the faunus rights group turned terrorists, the White Fang. Before Blake did that, she was always there for Ben and was one of his only friends growing up on the island. Ben wasn't a faunus like his family, his mother found him when he was baby and the faunus on Menagerie knew that. Some of the faunus accepted him while others didn't want him there, some of the children would even bully and pick on Ben.
Blake was the first one to stand up for Ben and even fought those who bullied him, making sure they'd never do it again. It was when a few years after Ben has turned 13 that Blake distanced herself from him and when Ben turned 14 Blake left the island, leaving Ben by himself. Ben always wondered what had become of Blake and wondered if she was still with the White Fang or had been arrested by Atlas police or any of the other three nation's police. For now though Ben had his own things to worry about, like how he was going to prove himself to Ozpin or how'd he even be able to get into Beacon Academy to talk to the headmaster.
"All in good time Ben, all in good time, for now though, I need to focus on getting some sleep" Ben said to himself as he let out a yawn
Laying his head down on the arm of the bench, Ben slowly began to close his eyes and drift off to sleep before the sound of a large group of people walking by him woke Ben up
"What the?" Ben asked himself quietly as he looked around
Looking around, Ben saw a group of people walk into the nearby dust shop, all of them wearing similar outfits and carrying weapons. Inside of the store, Ben saw a young girl shopping around and instantly his sense of danger began to go off.
"This isn't good" Ben said to himself as he sat up on the bench
Getting up, Ben put on his jacket and walked over towards the dust shop where that group of strange looking people carrying weapons had entered
"Let's hope things go easy" Ben said as he walked into the store

Author's Note
Hello readers, here is my third official story and I hope all of you enjoyed this first chapter. If you couldn't tell, this is going to be a Ben 10/RWBY crossover, where Ben is from the RWBY universe. Ben will be going to Beacon Academy along side Ruby and the other members of her team. I've decided to not have any other characters from the Ben 10 universe show up in this story (for now) since I'm trying to do something a bit different. I will be using a more classic Ben as well as alien designs for this story, that is why I'll mostly be using Elmike9's classic redesigns. You'll get to see an alien transformation used in the next chapter so please be patient and wait for now.
I should also mention that I will also be using certain OC and non-cannon transformations in this story along with a few 5YL transformations. So, if there is a certain one of those aliens that you would line to see be in the story, comment and let me know. I'll also be going further in depth about the lore of the omnitrix Ben is wearing in this story as well as a bit more lore about Ben and how ended up in that basket. Something else that should be noted, I will be updating this story with a new chapter every Thursday. My eventual goal is to have a story for every day of the week so I can keep myself busy. I should let you readers know that I haven't decided on who the love interest should be as well as team members for Ben's team. I'll probably come up with some OCs but I wouldn't mind suggestions from you readers.
