CHAPTER 10
Matt shifted on his seat, he couldn't believe his eyes, Sophia. Why?
Gabby missed his hand on her back.
"Who is Matt? Lady, I think you made a mistake... ", Gabby announced.
"Sophia?!" he murmured as rubbing his face.
"What a coincidence, hun? You never told me you were a fan of Mexican food...", she said.
"Yeah... I like it...".
"Matt, I want to apologize for that day, I was wrong-", he cut her off.
"Okay, it's all good now...", he was getting nervous by each second she was standing there.
Gabby was confused, "Why she keeps calling you Matt?" she didn't get it.
Matt opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out, "Tom?" Gaby called him.
Sophia felt she was missing something. "Tom?!" Sophia said.
"Since when your name is Tom?" Sophia asked.
"That's his name, Tom Miller," Gabby said.
"No, it's not. His name is Matthew-", Matt interjected before she could continue.
"Sophia, can we talk later?" he finally said.
"What's going on here?" Gabby said upset and quite angry at him.
"Gabby, I can explain it. Just give me one minute, please...", Matt asked softly.
"I have to go Matt, goodbye," noticing the weird situation.
"Just answer me one thing and then I give you 2 minutes, your name is Tom Miller?" she said holding back her tears.
He didn't want to keep that lie, "no" he said feeling defeated and disappointed.
Gabby didn't want to cry in front of him. She looked around, couldn't believe she had been misled one more time. She grabbed her purse and stood up.
"Gabby, I'm sorry. Please listen to me, I can explain everything... ", he grabbed her arm, but she pulled away.
"You stay away from me, you understand?" She walked toward the exit.
Matt paid the bill and went after her. He had driven her to the game, she should be in front of the restaurant trying to get a cab. He looked everywhere, even walked down the sidewalk, but she had gone.

Antonio's House...
When Gabby came home Antonio was in the living room. He asked right away how was her date, though she went straight to her bedroom and didn't speak with him.
"Gabby, can I come in?" Antonio said knocking on the door.
She had told him she was going to meet 'Tom', giving her his blessing. Gabby wasn't used to hiding anything from Antonio, however, today she felt different about that.
"I'm going to sleep, do you mind if we talk tomorrow?" she replied.
"I just want to wish you a good night, sis...", he insisted.
Matt called Antonio later and explained what had happened. If he knew that things would end up like that, he wouldn't have agreed with them going out.
"Okay, come in."
Gabby was curled up on her bed... She wiped her tears before Antonio could see them.
"I love you, anything you need, I'm here."
"Love you... Good night!"
"Good night, sist...", he kissed her forehead.
...
Shay and Severide's apartment...
"Hi. What are you doing here? Not that I have a problem with this...", Severide said to an upset Casey standing at his door. He knew that Matt had a date today.
"Hi, so sorry for coming here so late...".
"It's okay... come in...".
Shay was in the living room eating ice cream and watching TV.
"Hi, Casey!"
"Hi, Shay!"
"You want to talk privately?" Shay knew nothing about Gabby.
"No, you can tell her, after today I think I blew out my chance...".
"What happened?" Severide asked.
Casey sat down a few inches from Shay on the couch.
"Gabby found out that I am not 'Tom Miller' but Matthew, I stopped Sophia before she could say my full name...".
It was visible to his friends Matt was deeply sad.
Shay chose not to ask anything because Matt didn't need someone asking him questions right now.
"Sophia? Your ex-girlfriend?".
"Yes. She showed up out of nowhere when I was going to kiss Gabby. She called me by my name, Gabby left, I paid our bill, and went after her, but I didn't find her...".
"I'm sorry, you will sort this out soon, right?".
"I don't know, I disappointed her, I could see it in her eyes,... I'm feeling terrible. Asking her out was a mistake, I should wait for the right time... ".
"Man, you didn't know this would happen...".
"I think she won't want to see me again, Sev...", Matt said running his hands through his hair.
Severide felt bad for his friend, he would do anything to help him, even talking to Gabby and convince her Matt liked her for real and care about her.

Gabby's new apartment...
"Matt, you did a great job, man...", he patted his shoulder.
"Thank you! I am satisfied with the result..., I hope she likes it!" he said looking around.
"Gabby will love it, you bet."
Antonio hired a guy to bring Gabby's things to the apartment. After Gabby and Bryan's split up, a year ago, she moved in with Antonio. Going through a hard time, Gabby was better, still, she had a lot of things to work on herself.
Antonio knows Gabby loves to be an independent woman, and leaving in her own place was a huge deal for her, it means a new beginning.
"Antonio, everything is ready, what time she gets here?" Laura asked him.
"She is leaving the bakery in a few minutes...".
On her days off, Gabby has been working in Dawson's bakery. Laura made up a story that an important client had asked for a cake that morning. Gabby was responsible to deliver it to the client, while Laura was on an appointment.
"Antonio, I have to go...", Matt uttered.
"No, stay and we will tell Gabby everything...", Antonio needed to do that.
"I can't, I feel awful, I hurt her... I just can't be here...".
"It was a misunderstanding...", Antonio tried to change his mind.
"Antonio, I like your sister, but I think I messed up...".
"My sister has a big heart, she will understand...".
"Thank you for giving me the chance to do something for her...".
"Okay. We talk later?"
"Of course...", Matt left the apartment.
15 minutes later Gabby arrived. She thought it was weird to deliver the cake at that address, at that apartment.
"Tom would be the client?" she thought. "Or the old lady?"
When Antonio opened the apartment door, she was confused first, then he explained everything and who was 'Tom Miller'.
"Where is he?"Gabby required.
