CP Owns all characters and this world

Wrote this while waiting for work to start lol

The next few days passed fairly like the first. I continued to get used to this new body and what it entailed, at least as a hatchling. I would wake up, eat half a rabbit, explore our clearing we were in, and get to know my Rider.

On the third day there had been no more rabbits, I had eaten them all. But I was hungry so I moved away from my sleeping partner and went in search of food.

It took only a matter of a few moments before I had a scent trail to follow. Sneaking along it, and keeping my eyes peeled for any movement, I eventually came upon some kind of.. rodent? Was that a chipmunk? squirrel? Gopher?! It's hard to say, I know next to nothing about this ecosystem.

Staring at my prey I quieted my breath, tensing the muscles in my rear legs as I got ready to pounce. My blood pounding in my ears at the idea of a hunt.

Alright, you can do this! Ready? Aaannndd... LEAP! It was impressive really, or at least in my mind, a hatchling leaping maybe a foot and a half to two feet, trying to hunt.

But apparently i had broken a twig or something, because as soon as I jumped the little bastard speed off into the forest. Landing on my snout I sniffed, wiping the dirt off, and a little put out by my prey escaping. But I will perservere!

It took me another hour at least before I had managed to catch myself something to fill my belly. Managed to get myself two small rodents that curbed my hunger well. My first hunt!! Even just thinking about it now got my blood pumping, and stomach growling.

Quiet you! You were just fed! I let my growling body part know. I went back and laid down next to Arya, without licking my lips clean of blood, just so she would know i was succesful.

The only other thing of interest, at least in my humble opinion, would be that I managed to wrangle Arya into a game! Yes! You heard right, the stoic elf was playing with me!

It all started on the second day Eragon had been gone. I had crawled up to her shoulder to get a differernt perspective of our clearing. And I gotta say I miss being tall! I wasnt that tall in my last life. Only six feet tall, there were others taller than myself. But I miss being able to see everything! How long would it take me to reach that height again? A month? Two-

Im getting side tracked, so I curled across her shoulders just observing the world in peace. But eventually I got bored, which led to my, if i do say so myself, AMAZING idea to jump from her shoulder and glide to the ground.

As soon as I made to leap hower, my Rider plucked me off her shoulder and placed me onto the ground. "Ive told you hatchling, you are not ready yet. Soon." I snorted in defiance, blowing two smoke rings her direction, and attempted to crawl back up her legs. I was stopped by a hand on my snout, apparently I didnt keep my intentions hidden enough through our link. She knew exactly what i was planning.

"No, not if youre just gonna jump off, I will not be used as a jumping off point for you." I snorted again in frustration.

But then, I had an idea. I scanned the trees around me quickly, trying to keep her from figuring out my plan by using speed. I know, youre probably thinking 'Shes an elf, you cant beat them in a game of speed." Well take this! Aparently she was so surprised by watching a dragon hatchling climbing a tree that she wasnt able to stop me from reaching a branch around 7 feet up above the ground.

I crawled my way out to the middle of the branch, my deep green claws easily piercing the bark of the pine.

"Hatchling, please come down, I've already told you that you're too young for this." I growled at her, letting her feel my anger at her insult to me. Im a dragon!! Besides I'm pretty sure in the book Saphira was gliding down to Eragon from her tree perch at this age. I got this!

I looked down and-

Holy fuck! That's really high! Maybe I should find a lower-

No! I got this!

Pumping myself up, I took a step forward. Only for my leg to slip and for me to tumble from the branch. In my panic I threw my wings out, and satisfyingly heard a gasp from Arya below. I was doing it! Gliding is easy!
Once I was a few yards from her I angled my wings, and tilted my body, putting myself into a slow rounded turn. I could tell I still had alot of practice to do, I ended up dropping a couple feet in my turn, from lack of form I'm assuming. I probably needed to find a better wing angle.
But I managed to glide my way right back to my Rider, flying straight into her arms. I gave my most proud full squeak and gave her a toothy grin.
She let out a small smile. "Well, it seems my young one has proven me wrong." I nuzzled her cheek as she let out a small laugh.
After that, it took me around three tries of standing on her hands while she was relaxing and jumping off them, for her to get my idea.
After that, for the next two days, sporadically we would play. Her throwing me into the air, and me doing a gliding loop back to her. I gotta say, the adrenaline rush from being that high in the air, under only the aid from my own wings, was AMAZING!! Addicting even.
Thus it was in the position of Arya standing there, arms straight out infront of her with me in her palms, legs crouched and ready to jump from them, when we heard a laugh filled with so much mirth we both turned our head in its direction.
Standing there, or should I say crouching there, holding his belly laughing was Eragon. And beside him and older man with white hair and a small beard smirking with amusement crinkling the old skin around his eyes.
"Well, this is a most hopeful and amusing sight. I never thought I'd see the day where a hatchling could play so carefree. Or seeing you Arya, with such a smile on your face."
I could feel her embarrassment bleed through our link, just as mine was felt by her.
Welp, guess Brom made it to the party.
