CHAPTER 15
Gabby wanted to protest, but she felt weak being this close to him...
Cradling her face...
She'd regret it later... she knew it, but she didn't feel on her to resist him before she could think straight, Gabby smashed her lips against his...
Matt pulled her into his body, grabbing her waist...
With her palms pressed against his hard chest... they kissed each other desperately.
"I missed your lips on mine...", Matt said between kisses.
"Stop... talking...", Gabby said out of breath as pulling him by his jacket collar.
Minutes later... all of sudden Gabby stopped kissing him, her eyes widened, "What was that? Did you hear?".
He had a puzzled look on his face, "No, what is it? I hope you are not trying to get rid of me...".
"It's not that-", Matt pecked her lips a few times.
A noise broke the smashing sound of their kiss, pulling away, "Did you hear now?"
Matt agreed this time, reaching out for her hand, "Come on."
With a confused expression, "Wait... where are you going?"
"Come on, trust me...", he said.
They heard footsteps... someone was approaching the room..., calmly to no bring attention for them, they walked to the turnout gear room.
"Are you crazy?" she exclaimed entering the place, still nervous thinking they were almost caught by someone.
He slid his hands in his jacket's pockets... "What do you think?"
With her arms crossed over her chest, "...You are crazy...", Gabby shook her head.
Getting closer to her, "Okay, now tell me…", smiling he spoke, "I feel you were into the kiss as much as me...".
"I-I don't know you are talking about...", Gabby looked at her feet. "And... don't look at me like that...".
Matt observed her with amused eyes, "... like what?"
"Matt, ...", Gabby rubbed her temper.
"I can't look at you any different since my eyes fell upon you... I'm in love with you...".
Gabby was speechless...
Stepping forward, he kissed her lightly on the lips...
Gabby's gaze lingered on him, as she cupped his cheeks, her kiss on him was slow and deep this time...
Moaning into the kiss, "... I wanna be more for you...".
"No, Casey...", Gabby voiced as he trailed down her neck with kisses.
"No...?".
"No..." she withdrew, and put a space between them.
"Why?... It doesn't make sense... please, explain it to me... there is no way it means nothing for you...".
"You can't imagine how you mean to me, but I can't, I just- my answer is still no, Casey...".
He sighed, and ran a hand through his hair, "... I got it... I wished you could give at a decent reason..., I'm not worth that of that?", he expressed upset.
"Matt, it's not that, I-you-", her lip trembled. "It's not you, it's me...", Gabby managed to say.
Matt laughed sarcastically, "...yeah... you know, never mind...", he turned and left.
Gabby squatted down, wrapping her arms around herself, she cried...
Severide had seen them kissing in the common room and made a joke doing noises and sounds of steps.
When Casey came back to the common room...
"You two had fun?" Severide asked.
Casey snapped at him, "... it's not your business...", he headed down to his office.
Severide scrunched his face.
...
Gabby's Apartment...
To put Maria's plan into action, Antonio would visit Gabby first. Then, he called her, she never picked it up, later he tried it over and over, he never got an answer, so he decided to go there...
Knocking at her door, Gabby opened it...
"What's going on with you? I've called you a million times...".
She had puffy eyes...
"Have you been crying? Why? What happened?"
"I've been watching this... the girl dies..., that's all...", wiping her tears.
However, Antonio was not convinced...
Gabby sat back on the couch, "What are you doing here, anyway...?"
"... I was passing by, and decided to come over... You are okay?"
".. Yeah... it is just a silly movie...".
"... I need to... you know, bathroom...", Antonio said.
"Go ahead. I'll be in my bedroom...".
Antonio's eyes wandered around the bathroom, thinking what use to excuse for Matt to show up at the dinner on Wednesday... window, tap, sink... He chose the sink, but he wouldn't 'break' today, only during the dinner...
Going to Gabby's room... he saw her wiping her eyes, she was watching the news.
"Why have you crying? Don't lie to me...".
"...Casey, we argued at last shift... he likes me, really likes me, and asked for more, he can't be just my friend, a co-worker...".
"What's wrong with that? He's not like Josh...".
"You don't know,... I went through hell because of Josh at work, people's face pity on, then the jokes... That's not enough, Bryan came in, you know the story... it sucks, Antonio... everything sucks,", she shouted out, "...I am tired of all that shit...".
"Hey, hey... you can't resume your life to them, there are good people out there...".
"Besides, I don't feel a full woman,... who wants to be with someone who can't...", Gabby paused to breathe.
"Maybe you still don't know, but it is possible to treat what you have, I will help you to pay for it...".
"Antonio, I don't want your money... Perhaps, it's a sign that I shouldn't be a mo-", she sobbed.
"Don't say it...", he pulled her into his arms.
"Listen to me... Matt likes you... How do I say this? He has seen you before you met each other here, at your apartment...".
Gabby pulled away from his embrace to look into Antonio's eyes.
"Remember... you, Eva and Diego, the last time you went to the park together... He saw you there, he told me you were dancing?! Then, weeks ago, you were at the accident where that kid died,... he saw you again... Since then he can't get you out of his mind...".
"He told you all this...?"
"Yeah, so when you came here looking for the landlord, his head spun around... Gabby, he genuinely likes you, lying to you that day killed him... it means something...".
"Why did he never tell me those things?" she asked incredulously.
"I 'd like to know...", Antonio confessed.
"It doesn't matter now... I treated him badly..., he won't forgive me...".
"...Or you are too proud to apologize?"
Gabby eyed his brother...
"I have to go...", kissing her forehead, "... please, think about what I said".
Gabby nodded, "... love you...".
...
Molly's...
"... Herrmann, one more, please...".
"One-shot for my lieutenant...", Herrmann gave Matt a worried smile.
"You are here...", Severide took the seat next to Casey.
"Why you say? I should be home drowning my sorrows?!", Casey argued.
"Wow, you are not in a good mood, usually kissing someone makes you happy, with you it's the opposite...".
"I always try being the good guy, you know...", Gabby gulped his one-shot.
"What are you talking about?"
"Look at me, tell me honestly, I'm a bad guy, Severide?"
"What's going on? You hit your head or something like that, man?" Severide sipped his beer.
"Gabby... has told for the hundredth time, she doesn't want me...".
"Don't be dramatic..., Casey".
"Okay.. third or fourth... I'm an idiot trying to figure out what is holding her back...".
"Did you ever think that maybe she's not into you for real?"
"No way... I am not that crazy to make things up, her kisses... meant something for me...".
"... Maybe, you are a good kisser, just it...".
"Really?" Casey said growing upset.
...
Antonio's house...
"Antonio...".
"Hi, mamá...," said Antonio after walking to the hall; his mother was waiting for him in the living room.
"How our plan is going? What do we have to break to have Matt on Wednesday?" she giggled.
"We won't break anything..., mom...", he sighed as sat down on the armchair.
"I've already told you, I can handle Gabby...".
"Let's talk... I visited Gabby today... she had been crying...".
"What's the matter?"
"Gabby and Matt had a little argument...".
"What has he done to her?"
"Nothing... Gabby does want nothing with him..., you know the reasons... Josh, Bryan...".
Maria was sad for both of them, Gabby and Matt.
"...Gabby is so stubborn...", Maria sighed upset.
"Don't tell me... it's time for to you let it go... respect her wish...".
"Yeah... you are right...".
