CHAPTER 18
They kissed a couple of times, then locking eyes, "What I'd do without you here?" angling his head to give her one more kiss...Abruptly the door was open, "Casey and Dawson, what are you two doing?" someone in shock exclaimed.
Gabby turned away from Matt, as Matt stood still looking at Severide...
"It's about time, hun?", he laughed, though Gabby didn't turn to look at him. Her attitude showed him that she didn't like they were caught...
Feeling worried, "Sev...", Matt cleared this throat, "could you give us a moment alone, please?"
"Oh, yeah, sorry".
Matt gave him a knowing look, Severide understood the subtle message...
Seconds later...
"How we could be so naive?" her voice a little agitated, "... that's what I was afraid of to be caught in an intimate moment-".
"Hey, hey, take a deep breath...", Matt grabbed her hand and rested it over his heart, "It was my fault, I should lock the door, next time I'll be careful...".
"Matt, we at work, it's unprofessional to kiss each other in your office, after all, you are my lieutenant...", Gabby was visibly nervous. "... Imagine if it is Chief Boden-", Matt cut in.
"Severide, it's our friend, he would never think less of us, or gossip about what we did here, please, relax", Matt squeezed her shoulders.
"It's easy to say, I'll bring your medicine...", then she left Matt alone.
Their shift was intense from top to bottom, mainly for ambulance 61. Gabby and Shay were making their way back to Firehouse 51 when Gabby blurted out, "... Casey slept in my apartment last night...".
"Finally, you wouldn't believe how many times I prayed for this moment, please tell me everything", Shay pulled over the ambo to the side of the road, "It explains your behavior this morning...".
"Don't get too excited, we just kissed a couple of times...", Gabby smiled content.
"Why he stayed the night at your apartment?"
"... Matt gave us a ride to home that Saturday, ... before we ate pizza, we had a little time alone as Eva, Diego and Maria were distracted, then I opened my heart to him...".
Shay was genuinely happy for them, "What else?"
"... We agreed to see each other at my apartment that same night... It was too late for him to go home, and all that rain, he stayed the night...".
"Where he slept?"
Gabby covers her face with her hands...
"Oh, my- you're playing with fire, girl...", Shay snickered.
"... He bought me flowers and a box of chocolates...", Gabby sighed remembering it.
"He's so romantic. You're lucky... ", Shay blinked at Gabby.
"... Although, this morning I was unfair with him...", she was disappointed with herself.
"What happened?" Shay was worried.
"Severide caught us kissing, and I freaked out..., it doesn't feel right to mix things at work..., however, Casey tried to make sure we'd be just fine, I shouldn't worry for anything...".
"Gabby, I'll say again, don't overthink, okay... enjoy it... Casey is a nice guy and he likes you for real, he'd never compromise you...".
"... Yeah, you are right, Shay... thank you for being a good friend...", Gabby held Shay's hand in hers.
"I'm here when you need me. How about eating something?".
"...That sounds great", Gabby said.
The evening fell upon one more time... they were back at the station after another call... Mills will start the dinner with Cruz's help. While Casey is at his office, the reports couldn't wait...
Gabby waited a moment before making an appearance in his office. Knocking on the door lightly, Matt looked up and smiled at her. Then Gabby opened the door, standing at the threshold, "Are you okay?" she asked.
"Why don't you come in? I don't bite", Gabby gave him a small smile.
"... However, I might bite you...", she responded without missing a beat.
Casey raised his eyebrows, "Interesting" he said with a mischievous smile, "Seriously, come in...".
"You didn't answer, are you feeling better?" Gabby folded her arms.
Casey realized she wouldn't give in, getting up, he met her at the threshold, "... I'm fine, thank you for taking care of me...".
"Good...", looking over her shoulder, "...sorry for freaking out this morning".
"It's okay. Listen, I'll try not to kiss you outside of the office, and when I get you inside of the office, I'll lock the door...", he bit his lips.
"Matthew Casey..." Gabby shook her head smiling.
"... Then we get out of the firehouse, I'll kiss you because you're my girl, the world needs to know that...".
Gabby blushed, "Am I?"
"... Yeah, and I'm yours, Gabriela...", Matt loves to call her Gabriela and she knew it.
"I can't wait to be alone with you-".
"Gabby", she turned around, Cruz called her from the bunk room door, "... could you give us a hand in the kitchen?".
Gazing back at Casey, "See you later...".
"Yeah...", Matt winked at her.
Gabby was turning to leave when Matt grabbed her arm, "Gabby?"
"Yeah."
"You make me very happy!"
One hour and a half later... most of the station was sleeping, Gabby waited a few minutes to got up from her bed and sneak into Matt's office.
Matt was lying on his bed, reading a book...
"Hey...", Matt greeted her as putting his book aside.
"Hey... you are ready to sleep?", Gabby sat down at the end of his bed.
"Not yet", Matt shifted on the bed to give her space to lay back with him, "... come here...".
Gabby lay down on her side, resting her head on his shoulder...
"You smell so good...", Gabby said burying her face in his neck, Matt smiled at her, kissing her forehead...
Cupping his neck, Gabby kissed his neck a few times, after a few seconds she retreated, then gazing at him, Matt dipped his head to kiss her on the lips...
15 minutes later, Gabby broke the kiss, "It's time to sleep...".
"No, one more minute", Matt begged pouting. Gabby conceded, five minutes later...She smiled and they kissed again.
"... It's a long time since I feel this way...", Matt said looking into her eyes...".
"Me too...".

Matt's house...
"What would you like to do this Sunday, princess?" Matt and Anna were having breakfast.
"I can choose whatever I want to...?" Anna asked excitedly. "I want to go to the zoo".
"We went last month. Are you sure you want to go again?"
"I can't tired of going to the zoo, daddy, but this time I'd like to Violet...", Anna loves to have her cousin around.
"Sure, I'll call Christie...", he said before taking another sip of coffee.
"... It'd be fun if Eva and Diego could join us, daddy...".
Spending time with Gabby, he thought. "... I'll give Gabby a call..., I don't have their parent's phone number...".
A few hours later...
"Look, dad, they're here!", they met at the parking lot. Gabby waved at them, excited Anna ran in their direction...
"Anna, please... be careful...", Matt said calmly.
"Hi, guys...", Anna greeted them, from there they walked to the entrance of the zoo, the kids guided the tour during the visit... they were walking a meter ahead of Matt and Gabby,
"Why Anna was so surprise to see us?" Gabby asked as the children were watching the monkeys.
"She didn't know you would be here, I wanted to surprise her...".
"Oh, Matt...", Gabby poked him in the ribs.
Minutes later, Gabby was engrossed watching the kids together...
"So... I wanted to check with you,", Gabby stared at him, "... if it'd be okay to present you as my girlfriend to Anna...".
"You didn't even ask me to be your girlfriend, so...", she raised her shoulders.
Matt smiled, "... You have a point", stopping their steps, "Gabriela Dawson, would you like to be my girlfriend?"
"... I thought you would never ask...", smiling she tilted her head and they kissed on the lips.
They started to walk, "You already have my brother's approval...".
"Anna likes you a lot, it's win-win for us...", Matt wrapped an arm around her back. "It means I can kiss you in public from now on...".
Gabby brushed her lips against his upper arm.
"... I want to kiss you so badly right now", Matt declared as looking down at her.
... At the end of the tour, they went into a small store. Matt and Gabby said that each kid could buy a souvenir... While they were looking around, Matt took Gabby to the corner of the room and surprised her with a full kiss on the lips... It lasted less than a minute, but enough to fire them on.
"Matt... the kids...".
"Don't worry, they won't see us...". They kissed a couple of times.
Pulling her into his arms, "Do you have time for dinner next week?"
"Yeah...".
"It's a date, then... our first date...".
"... We had one already, remember?"
"Hmm, we started over, so it's our first for me...".
"... Okay...".
