Bow to the great CP for he owns all to do with Alagesia.
"No."
I let loose a low grow,l staring at the old man.
Yes.
"No, I will not help make you a saddle, just for you to get tired from the extra weight and kill you both. You are not ready."
I snorted at him, slapping my tail on the ground in frustration. There is no way I would let that happen.
Obviously I wouldnt try to continue if I was tired. I want to fly with my Rider! I growled at him. I was a month and a half old! I knew I could do this.
"Brom-Elda, perhaps we should make a saddle. His shoulders come up to mine now, and he has been in the air non-stop since he was able." I felt a hand on my side. "Plus I would rather enjoy a first flight." Arya said beside me.
A scowl appeared on Brom's face before Eragon decide to jump in.
"Yeah! I agree, Saphira has been bothering me about it for a few days aswell.
Arent we Dragon and Rider? Shouldnt we practice? You always say we are in danger, but this will be the best way to gain experience. Saphira gave her opinion.
Brom let out a sigh, lighting his pipe. "Fine! Fine... The impatience of young ones these days." He muttered. "Regardless, we will have to find the closest town to buy leather. To tan our own hide would take a couple weeks at least."
"We must be near Teirm at least from my observations, we've been going mainly south west through the Spine."
"I know the Elves may be at home in forests, but never underestimate the Spine. This forest is... a mystery. To all really. It's been an honest miracle we've had as little trouble as we've had. You know the story of Galbatorix losing his army here."
Saphira let out growl at Ol Galbys name.
"We could honestly be barely near Lake Fläm. Or days away from Teirm, which would be the best case scenario. I have an old friend there, it would be good to get the whispers from the people of Alagaesia if he knows anything."
So you are saying, that we must wait anyway?
"Yes."
I growled again. I can't wait to see the day Eragon bests you in your twig fight. I say while blowing a smoke ring into his face. But he just smirks at me.
"I may be old, but it will be some time before that happens." I just ignored him and lay down next to Arya, resigned to just sitting here for the night.
"Once we are able to fly together, will you teach us aerial combat, Brom-Elda?" My Rider asked.
"Yes, but the most I can give you is my perspective as to how they are done. Both you, Silvren, Saphira and Eragon will have to perform them. It is fortunate that two dragons hatch instead of one, it would be more difficult to learn alone."
Yes. Saphira hummed. It's nice to have another Dragon around. I'm not sure how I would have dealt with being the only free Dragon. She was looking right at me.
I gave a slight huff. You would have been fine... Maybe... I thought about it for a moment. I definitely wouldnt want to have to do this all by myself. You have great instincts, and aside from hunting and ground fights you surpass me in most things. I snorted another smoke ring, seriously, blowing smoke rings was alot of fun.
My Rider let out a small laugh, "that is because female Dragons were the most fierce and deadly Dragons out there. Most leaders of the Wild Dragons were female."
Saphira hummed with the complimentary words, while I just listened.
We all sat around the fire for a good hour at least. Brom was sitting on a log smoking, taking covert glances at the blue Dragon. Eragon and Saphira seemed to be communicated together, and I was curled around Arya while she leaned against my stomach, with her eyes closed, a slight smile on her face. I could tell she wasnt sleeping, her mind was to active for th-
"Arya... May I... Sit? I had a few questions I would like to ask of youre agreeable to it."
I could feel her irritation at her peace being disturbed, but she nodded her head slightly as permission. He looked to me next, I gave him a blink of my eye. As long as shes fine with it I will be. Then I put on my best Solobum cryptic voice. Just remember, Elves move slowly, and to rush them would be folly.
He gave me a confused, if slightly fearful look before sitting beside her against my belly, while I cackled madly in amusement. Arya gave me a look, she could feel my amusement but didnt know what was said.
I was really starting to enjoy this being big thing. It was pleasant.
Saphira came and lay down next to me, snaking her head around so she could keep an eye on her Rider the whole time.
"You've said you used to ferry Saphira's egg look for her Rider, but how does that work? Dragons can hatch for humans aswell, not just Elves."
"You are correct. Not only did I ferry her egg between Elves, but also Humans. I would carry her egg to the Varden aswell. Hidden deep in the Boer Mountains."
"Ah, I see. That makes more sense. How did you like your time among them?" He asked.
"Well..." She paused, thoughtful. "The Dwarven cities are.. Breathtakingly constructed. It's always a great pleasure walking through, seeing everything they've made over centuries, even millenia. Their people are slow to change, unless it involves drinking and celebrating. The only trouble I have with them revolves around their religion. In this... We do not see eye to eye."
"Why is that?" The young Rider asked.
"That is something that you will learn once we decide to head to the Elves to finish our training."
Eragon seemed torn between asking about the Elves and something else. I really thought the books exaggerated his need to question things. But it seems they were spot on.
"And what of the Humans? How are they for you to be around?"
"Mmm..." Arya hummed, becoming thoughtful. "Well, Humans are some of the beings that are the hardest and yet easiest race to understand. You live and die fast, you are now an exception to this. But... because of this, Humans tend to make rash decisions. Their patience tends to be thin because they don't have the time to wait, which can lead to bad decisions. It's not something that I really have that much knowledge on, but I feel I can understand. As for being around them, their questions can be a bit tireing," she gave him an amused look with a raised eyebrow, "but they are good people. At least those I have interacted with. The only problem I have is when their men Leer at me. But I have practice in ignoring this."
Her explanation startled me for a second, I don't think I've heard Arya talk for such a period of time. And she was my Rider! But soon that gave way to anger.
They will do so no longer. I growled.
Oh? And how to you propose to stop them Silvren?
By eating them of course! Until they learn the lesson that their eyes shouldn't wander!
You shall do no such thing! I am more than capable of dealing with them myself.
I snaked my head around to stare at her with my one eye. She stared back, unwavering.
Eventually I broke eye contact and huffed again. Fine... But i reserve the right as your Dragon to scare them away with fear for their lives. On this I will NOT budge. I sniffed.
I felt a great amusement comming from her. Of course my mighty guardian.
Eragon seemed thoughtful from the conversation. Maybe this would help him whwn acting on his feelings with my Rider. Who knows if hed even feel the same as in the book... Everything is already so messed up from what i know...
I withdrew into myself a little bit. Sad and angry that I wouldnt be able to predict what would happen in the future.
Apparently Saphira had picked up on my feelings. She rubbed her snout on my neck, startling me out of my reverie.
Up for a night flight?
I have a gravelly chuckle. Of course, theres nothing I enjoy more than a good flight. I pressrd my snout to Arya's forehead, giving a great hum. I will be back soon, Mine Heart, the sky calls me.
I felt some confusion from her, but it gave way to ger affections, which I drank in eagerly. Of course.
With that we took off, revelling in the open sky, the wind brushing past out scales and under our wings. Tumbling, turning, ans spinning around each other.
But... about a half hour in the air Saphira mentally nudged me, so I let her in. I was promptly send a picture of a small wooden hut hidden within the trees.
Look.
I did, searching below the trees.
There! Why is there a hut so deep in the Spine? Hmm.
We should let the others know. I got an affirmative from her. Well, lead the way, Queen of the skies.
She huffed good natured as we made our way back to our Riders.
