You guys ever heard of a magical land called Alagaesia? Yeah, that shits owned by CP
It was an Urgal?! I exclaimed incredulously. I know youve taught us about this race Brom, but from what you have told us, talking with them isnt really an option.
"Well, yes, and no. This wasnt your typical Urgal. It was what the Urgals call a Herndall. A wise old female Urgal. This isnt even the most worrying news taken from this. You two need to know what we learned." He gave a pause, almost like he was trying to make thing's all suspenseful.
He really is a story teller isnt he?
"Weve also learned that the Urgals are being controlled, by a strong magic apparently. This Herndall was sent outside the village to live by herself. She works most of the leather for her tribe, but she also knows about magic. The caster was unable to control her, so shes in a sort of exhile at the moment. But the really worrying thing, is that they are being controlled by a shade. Blood red hair, pasty white skin, and named Durza."
I could feel my Rider stiffen beside me, so I sent her reassuring thoughts to keep her own at bay.
So what do we do now? We can't really hang out with a threat looming around us like this.
"Our plan so far is to still travel to teirm, gather information, and depending on said info will determine one of two paths. Either we will head to the Varden, or if all is well, to the Elves to finish your training. For now though, we wait till nightfall, when she said there would be no more visits to her from her tribe, then bring her the deer as payment. I wouldnt be opposed to just leaving, but someone," He looked pointedly at Eragon. "Promised to return with the deer, and consequently giving away that there was a new Rider in the process..."
Wait... You did what?! How! I snarled, giving him a look. If he unintentionaly put my Rider in harms way, I may get a little furious.
"She wouldnt give us the leather until she saw my mark!" He exclaimed. "She was asking how we would repay her so rapidly, I did the only thing I could think of at the time."
I growled lightly, looking at Brom. I will be comming with you when you return. I do not trust someone, who is from a tribe controlled by a shade, to be around you three without some form of protection. Mainly me. I sniffed.
"Now hold on a moment-"
I will be comming aswell. Saphira told us.
There was a long drawn out sigh, a hand pulled down an old face with a beard, before he finally nodded his head.
Great. I said. Now lets build a saddle!
Brom groaned.
The making of a saddle was... Not fun for me. I dont know what I was really expecting, its almost like being fitting for a tux I think. All I did was stand there while Arya and Brom fit the leather to my measurements-
Hey hey, thats too tight. Its uncomfortable.
"So this is happening because of this strap here," Brom was pointing to the strap on my chest. "Once a dragons growth slows down, this strap here will be..."
I drowned out his explanation, lightly shuffling in spot on my claws. This had been the worst hour and a half of my life! I felt like a statue or something.
I caught Saphiras eye, she sent me her amusement, along with an image of me looking rather ridiculous for a Dragon.
I growled at her, showing my fangs, which coincidentally had Arya looking at me in confusion. "Do not fret Silvren," she gave me a comforting pat on my side. "We are almost finished."
I narrowed my eyes at the Dragoness. You just wait, your turn is next! It was to my great satisfaction that her head drooped in defeat.
Oh no... She whispered, before turning to Brom. I didnt catch what she said, until Brom turned to her. "My apologies Saphira, but we will have to make your saddle from scratch, a copy could work, with the right amount of growth adjustments. But you and Silvren are built differently. He has a little more bulk on you and is wider, so his saddle wont fit you."
I laughed, letting out smoke from my nostrils, accidently smoking my Rider out. Her coughing from it pulling me from my joy. I pressed my snout to the side of her head. She just sent me reasurrances that she was fine.
It took another thirty minutes before it was finished, fifteen to actually finish the saddle, and another fifteen to make it comfortable and safe to carry someone. Honestly it kind of felt like wearing a backpack from my old life.
Hmm... I looked to Arya. I shouldnt of volunteered to go first. I said as she settled down on the ground, leaning on my foreleg. It wouldnt be fair to go flying yet without them, but I feel I cannot wait.
A small smile graced her face, and I could feel her amusement. Then think of this as a lesson in patience. I cannot wait till I get to join you in the sky aswell, Just for a few more hours my Dragon.
I hummed contentedly, just enjoying the quiet moment together. I had a feeling that something was comming, but no idea how to prepare, and that we wouldnt get many moments like this again.
Who the heck was this Herndall they met? And why havent these Urgals started towards the Varden yet? Maybe theyre a backup army, ment to take out the northern cities?
With a huff I layed my head down next to Arya, waiting for the other Rider and Dragon to finish their own saddle.
I could hear Eragon's woop of joy hundreds a feet in the air. Saphira and I twisting and turning around each other in the big open blue sky. It made me happy to hear, but, the unfiltered joy, amazement and wonder radiating off my own Rider made this whole wait worth it.
It took a few minutes for us to get used to the situation. At first I tried some more complex maneuvers, and proceeded to almost skewer Arya with one of my spines.
I felt like a fucking hatchling, almost injuring her like that. Like I was being scolded by Glaedr from the books. After that, I made sure to keep her posted on what I was doing, which way I was turning, diving, or climbing.
By the end of this learning curve, we were basically one entity, twisting our wings certain ways to catch warmer air currents. Hitting the colder air when we were trying to get a jump on Saphira and Eragon.
This was the most fun I've had in the past couple months.
We should head back now Silvren. Brom is by himself, and we will be heading back to the Herdall soon.
As you wish, Mine Heart. Hold on! As much as I wanted to continue, I knew there would be other moments for this. I tilted forward, going into a dive. Spinning while falling I angle myself back in the direction our old teacher was waiting. Snapping my wings open at the last second I shot over the ground and breathtaking speeds.
Seeing Brom below I let loose my most joyful and loud roar I could muster as I flew by him like a bullet. The last thing I saw before I rushed by him was a full blown smile.
What an actor this guy was.
sorry if mistakes, was in a rush to post
