Bella punches Jake, Charlie supports her

"Go to hell Jakob!" I yell as I try to shut the door in his face.

"Bella?" Charlie calls for the living room and I step in, ignoring Jakob following me. He looks surprised at my swollen hand and the tears streaming down my face. "What happened?" He asks and I swallow thickly.

"Jakob kissed me and tried to force himself on me. I punched him and broke my hand. He refuses to leave me alone." I say and his eyes darken. He throws himself out of the couch and presses Jakob up against the door.

"You will never EVER touch my daughter again!" He yells and hauls him out the door. "If you so much as try to, I will shoot you!" He continues and grabs his gun on the way out. Jakob scrambles backwards over the yard. Charlie turns around to look at me.

"Call Edward so Carlisle can take a look at your hand, will you Bella? Jakob and I need to have a talk." He says with a strained tone and I nod, disappearing into the house. I call Edward.

"Bella, love?" He answers.

"Hi. Can you come and pick me up? I think I broke my hand." I say and his engine roars.

"Are you home? What happened?" He asks, worriedly.

"Yes. Um… I punched Jakob."

"Good, but I must ask why? It is very unlike you." He says, pleased.

"He kissed me." I whisper and Edward growls menacingly, roaring his engine even more.

"Is the dog still there? Have you told your father?" He growls

"Yes on both." I say and he growls again.

"What did your father do… wait no I can hear them." He says as he listens quietly. "I'm here." He says and I hang up, hurrying to the front door. As I open it Edward gathers me in his arms, kissing me gently.

"How badly does it hurt? Can I have a talk with the dog first or do you want to get to Carlisle?" He asks worriedly as he looks at my hand.

"Not that badly… could you punch him for me?" I ask and he grins and nods. He kisses my hand as he leads towards his car. He helps me into the passenger seat and then he kisses my cheek before disappearing to the backyard.

Edward's POV:

I walk towards Charlie and the dog. The mut notices me first and I growl at him. Apparently Charlie knew all along what we are. That was why he wanted Bella to choose Jakob and not me.

"Charlie." I call as I walk up behind them. He looks quickly over his shoulder then he relaxes slightly.

"I'll leave you alone for five minutes. When I come back out I don't want to see any trace of any of you." He says as he turns to walk inside then he pauses. "Edward, is Bella okay?" He asks and I nod.

"Her hand is broken but otherwise she's unharmed." I say and he nods.

"Take care of her." He says seriously and I nod.

"I promise, sir." I say and he relaxes further and walks inside, leaving me and the mut. Before the mutt says a word I punch him as hard as I can in the jaw, making him fly sideways into a tree trunk.

"You will NEVER try to contact Bella again!" I growl at him, crouching, ready to fight if he tries something. He fixes his broken jaw, then he just turns and disappears into the woods, changing form.

I should never have done that. I don't know what I was thinking. I hear him think before he is out of radius. I walk back to Bella and hurriedly get into the driver's seat. She smiles and takes my hand in hers, holding it tightly.

Bella POV:

Edward disappeared into the dark for a few minutes before he came back. He looks untouched so I relaxed, relieved. I grab his hand, holding it tightly as he drives towards our home.

"I love you." I whisper and that perfect crooked smile shows up on his lips.

"I love you too." He whispers as he kisses the back of my hand. "I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you." He whispers and I nod.

"I'm sorry I went there. I should have trusted you. I don't want to see him again, ever." I say and he smiles at me.

"I understand, you have to make your own decisions but I'm happy you won't forgive him for this." He says and I press his hand as we turn in in front of the Cullens house.
