"No-" my protest is cut off by his rough lips. They try to force mine to move but I clamp mine together as I pound against his chest. "Let me go!" I try to yell but it just comes out as whimpers. One of the hands caging my head slowly moves down my body, fingers grazing against my chest. I shudder and grip it, trying to bend it away from me. No success. It grabs my breast roughly and I scream out in pain. Jacob takes the opportunity to force his vile tongue into my mouth. He can't really plan to… His hand slides down lower, fiddling with the button on my jeans.
"Get off me! Let go, Jacob!" I yell as I punch him in the face and manage to pry my lips from his. His eyes turn even darker as he slams my head back against the trunk of a tree. My vision becomes black around the edges as I continue to fight him off. "HELP!" I scream desperately, sobs escaping my mouth before his lips abuse mine again.
Suddenly he is gone. I fall to the ground, quickly scrambling away from where he is lying further away on the beach. A cold hand suddenly grasps my injured arm by the elbow and I jerk away in fear.
"Calm down, darlin'. I won't hurt you none and the dog won't be able to for a while," a smooth southern voice calms me. Red eyes meet mine when I dare to remove my gaze from Jakob.
"Y-you're…." I stammer. He smiles gently, carefully keeping his teeth covered.
"Yeah and you reak of vampires an' werewolves so I 'ssume you know the Cullens?" He asks as he slowly reaches out for me, scooping me up in his arms. "The major told me they had a new lil' human in the coven. You ok, sugar?" I nod, leaning tiredly against his chest.
"T-thank you for saving me. Could you take me to them?" I whisper, knowing he will hear me anyway.
"Of course, darlin'. Just close those beautiful eyes and I'll get to runnin'."
"Okay," I murmur and close my eyes, burying my face in his chest. I feel oddly safe with him, especially since he saved me. "Watch out for the other wolves though," I remind him and he hums dismissively. Suddenly the cold air swooshing by becomes warm and still.
"Bella?!" Edward yells, almost panicking. I am quickly moved into another pair of cold arms and when I open my eyes, I find Edward's amber eyes.
"Hi," I whisper and he frowns worriedly.
"What happened? Did Peter do anything? Did Jacob? Why didn't you call? Are you injured?" He asks frantically, almost too fast for me to hear.
"The mutt tried to rape the lil' darlin', I heard her struggling while I was swimmin' aroun' the rez. Think her arm is bad," my saviour, Peter, explains.
"Bella, may I check on your arm?" Carlisle asks gently by our side. I nod a little, using my good hand to dry some tears from my cheeks as Edward sits down on the couch with me. Carlisle grasps my hand gently, prodding it while his eyes ask me to explain.
"W-when I got down to Jacob's house we watched some movies and then we went down to the beach… he started rambling about how he was better for me than you and then h-he k-kissed me. I tried to get him off but h-he was t-too strong. I punched him, yelling for help before he slammed my head into a tree and c-continued to try t-to take m-my p-pants o-off," I break down crying, clutching Edward's shirt with my good hand as all of them growl. "T-then he went flying off me and P-Peter was there and he saved me and brought m-me here," I finish and Edward hugs me tightly.
"Thank you for helping her, Peter and sorry for accusing you," he says sincerely.
"No problem, I did it for the lovely lil' lady." I look over at him and he gives a crooked smirk. I blush slightly but whisper thank you again.
"Your knuckles are broken, but if you promise not to remove it, a brace will be fine," Carlisle declares and I smile relieved, then Carlisle sighs deeply. "I think we should call your father, Bella, he deserves to know." I bite my lip nervously.
"Okay," I whisper and Edward rubs my back gently as he gives me his phone, already calling.
"Cheif Swan."
"Hi, dad," I croak out.
"Bella, what's wrong? Are you crying? Where are you? I'm coming to get you right now!" He panics.
"I-I'm okay now, dad. Um- I-" Carlisle reaches for my phone, smiling understandingly.
"Hello, Charlie. This will be difficult to hear but when Bella was down in La Push with Jacob, he tried to rape her. She managed to get away but her hand is broken and she is very shaken up." A few seconds of silence follow as Charlie answers. "She is at our home, you are welcome here… I'm not sure she wants to leave-" I shake my head desperately, clinging tighter to Edward. "-no, she doesn't. Yes. Alright, see you soon." The call ends.
"He'll be here in ten minutes, he's very upset that Jacob would do something like this," Carlisle tells me and I nod slightly.
"B-but he won't force me to go home, right? I don't feel safe there, knowing Jacob could just walk in and…"
"Don't worry, darlin', the mutt is dead. He can't hurt you more," Peter says suddenly and I exhale relieved.
"Thank you."
"Yes, thank you for protecting our sister, even if I would have liked to torture him a while," Emmet states.
"C-can I still stay here? I still don't want to go home," I ask, looking at Carlisle. His expression softens even more.
"Of course, you can. You are always welcome here, Bella," he assures me. I smile relieved, burying my face in Edward's chest as he starts to rock me softly. A short while later, the sound of tires hitting the gravel in front of the house disturbs our temporary peace.
"He's here," Carlisle tells me softly and I nod but don't try to extricate myself from Edward's arms. Carlisle opens the door, letting Charlie inside.
"Carlisle, is she okay?" He asks worriedly. I lift my head, realising he hasn't seen me yet.
"She will be fine, Charlie. She just needs time to deal with this," Carlisle assures him, gently guiding him towards us.
"Hi, dad."
"Oh, Bella. I'm sorry, can I hug you?"
I nod and untangle myself from Edward, sinking into my father's embrace.
"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you. I'll make sure he'll never do this again," he whispers brokenly, rocking me softly.
"I'm okay, dad. I got away in time and I know you and the Cullens will keep me safe," I assure him and he exhales relieved.
