A/N: So yea... here is the rewrite.
Like I stated before, the other story was going in a direction that was totally different from what I had planned. I wanted something that was both fun and light hearted, but I ended up focusing on something that wasn't fun or light hearted. plus I was afraid I was going to write myself I to a corner with the way it was going.
So that story is dead and buried and will no longer be updated. I just hope I don't make the same mistakes I made in this new story. Also, please leave feed back cause it really does help in writing future chapters.
Just as before, this will focus more on the Anime and not the game. Since I am more familiar with that and I am too lazy to get a VPN. But I will try to add those elements when I can, okay?
As always, Azur Lane belongs to it's rightful owners and not me. So do not due me, I am broke. This is for fun and not profit.
Now that is out of the way, on to the story...

War... War never Changes in Any Era...
From the moment humanity first set it's collectives eyes on the ocean, a sense of both wonder and adventure began to fill their hearts. As a species of curious beings, Humanity as a whole began to rapidly develop new technologies in an attempt to explore the oceans of their world. As a natural need to know just what laid beyond the horizon, played a key role in this rapid development.
As a result, Empires and new Nations arose from what had once been simple city states in the "Old World". As the Oceans soon became a source of wealth and power.
But it was not long before this sense of adventure and wonder, was replaced with the desire to conquer the seas. A desire which further fueled the development of new Technologies, only this time to out match any would be rivals.
Wooden hulls were replaced by those made of steel,. while fire breathing steam boilers and turbines made the use of sails obsolete. Nations in both the Old and New worlds began to build new vessels of every type you can imagine, in an attempt out match the other both economically militarily. What had once been a source of adventure and prosperity, had now become a new battlefield for humanity.
However, these petty rivalries would soon come to an abrupt end. When a new enemy appeared from outside the world.
No one can truly say just when they first appeared or just where they came from. But it was not long before this new enemy was given a name which would fill the hearts of Humanity fear. The Sirens attacks were as swift as they were as brutal. As the mighty fleets of both the Old and New World were effortlessly swept aside by these new aggressors. It was not long before Humanity was pushed out of the Oceans and a new, dark era in their history began.
To counter this Crisis, the nations of the world finally placed aside their differences and began to work together to defeat the Siren Threat. A new Alliance was formed by the remaining major powers of the world, an alliance that would be known... as Azur Lane.
Eagle Union ...
Royal Navy...
Iron Blood...
Sakura Empire...
These were the four major camps which form the core of Azur Lane. Together, along with their allies, they fought valiantly against the Sirens.
The war which followed was far more brutal than anything humanity had fought in its history. But after many years of fighting, Azur Lane was finally able to repel the Siren onslaught and retake the seas. Ultimately securing victory and ensuring the seas were once again open to the world.
Time passed and the peace continued, but Azur Lane remained. As there were many who feared that it was only a matter of time before the Sirens returned. Only this time with better weapons and better tactics which could probably drive humanity out of the Oceans once an for all. As a result, old rivalries began to resurface and once again, only this time it was on how to defeat the Sirens than it was with fighting each other.
Unfortunately... this resulted in the fracturing in Azur Lane and the creation of a new new faction calling itself the Crimson Axis.
Who although was determined to defeat the Sirens if they were to return, the new faction wanted to use Siren Technology to achieve this. Something which was strongly opposed by both the Royal Navy and Eagle Union, as they say Siren tech as being too dangerous. A fear that was soon proven to be justified...
Fortunately this apparent schism was quickly rectified when the Sirens not only reappeared, but soon revealed themselves as the cause of the split. Both the Axis and Azur Lane were able to drive back the enemy and even form a new Alliance. But now there was a need for someone to help lead this new Alliance against this renewed Siren Threat.
In the months following what was now being called "The Orochi Incident" the Four major camps of the world began the process of selecting the new individual who would become the new Commander.
It was a long process and many candidates were sorted and ultimately... rejected. But eventually, a person was selected who was not only qualified, but was agreed upon by the four major nations. But oddly enough, he was not from one of the four Major camps. But rather, from a minor member who was usually overlooked when talking about the First Siren War. But had more than earned the respect of the other major members.
It was not long before he was called upon to face the committee and after a few hours of questioning and going over his service history, he was officially given his new assignment. One week later, he departed for his new posting.
His destination... Azur Lane.

Pacific Ocean.
January 15th, 20XX
The sea was calm and the sky was a bright shade of blue, as a lone aircraft carrier plowed through the water with ease. The ship itself was a relatively new vessel, only entering service just months before the war with the Sirens came to an end. But she remained in service with her nation after hostilities supposedly came to an end.
At first glance, one would believe her to be a part of the Royal Navy. As she did share some design features with vessels from that camp. But it was the presence of a large red Maple Leaf with a gold crown on her smoke stack, that showed her true nationality.
This was Aircraft Carrier HMCS Magnificent of the Maple Monarchy. One of only 2 fleet carriers and the only one the Monarchy had on its western coast. Normally, Magnificent would conduct patrols in the northern waters along side other allied ships. But today, she was transporting a certain individual to his new home for the foreseeable future.
A man in his early to mid thirties and dressed in a naval uniform used by those within the Monarchy, stood on the flight deck of the carrier and watched as an island slowly came into view. His new home.
Behind him were a pair of shipping containers which held all his belongings. As well as a black 1962 Chevrolet Impala with chrome trim and white wall tyres, his personal vehicle from back home. When given his assignment, the dark skin man was told he could bring what ever he wanted to his new posting. Seeing that he was going to be there for a while, the powers that be figured it would be a good idea to allow the new Commander bring along what ever he/she wanted to feel more at home.
As the island slowly got closer, the Maple officer took a quick swig from his bottle of Cherry Cola. As his mind raced at the prospect of taking command of Azur Lane. Or rather... the Alliance which it was now apart of.
Truth be told, the Maple still could not believe he had been selected for such an posting. Even though several of his superiors had vouched for him during the section process, the man held no illusions about being selected. In fact, he had actually planned to leave the Naval forces and move inland to start a new life. But that was before he found out he had been selected as the new Commander. He guess that little cabin in VC he wanted would just have to wait a little while longer
"Commander, we will be arriving in port within the next hour." A female voice suddenly announced. A young woman with crimson tinted eyes, shoulder length blond hair and dressed in a variation of a (Canadian) Naval uniform, soon joined the Commander on the flight deck. She was the Magnificent, but preferred to be call "Maggie" by everyone she met.
"Thank you, Maggie." the Commander replied, as he took a quick glance at his wrist watch. "Looks like we made it in good time."
"You don't sound too excited about it." Maggie replied, noticing the less that enthusiastic response she got.
"Nah, it's not that." The Commander stated. "I had been reading the files about this new Alliance. Kinda surprised me they agreed to share the same base, all things considered."
"Well the Sirens are the bigger threat." the aircraft carrier replied. "I remember Nabob and Puncher telling me all about the war."
"All I know, is that have my work cut out for me here." the man commented. "
"I'm certain you would not have been given the role of Commander, if they didn't think you were best suited for it." Maggie reassured the clearly nervous man. "There to be a logical reason why you were appointed as Commander."
"Well when you do find out, let me know. I'm heading back to my quarters to get the last of my things ready." and with that , Azur Lane's new Commander made his way back into the ship. leaving a very perplexed ship girl standing alone on the flight deck.
Obviously he was not what Maggie had originally expected him to be. Then again, who would not be so nervous about taking up such an important position?
What ever the case my have been, a new Commander was about to arrive at Azur Lane and she hoped that he would settle into his new role with ease...

A/N : And there we go, first chapter down and I hope you guys liked it. Hopefully this is the start of a much better fic and it's better than my last attempt.
As always, please leave a review and tell me what you think. Or else, Roon will be in your bed tonight.
Trivia: HMCS Magnificent Majestic-class light carrier used by the Royal Canadian Navy between 1948 and 1957. While Puncher and Nabob were 2 Royal Navy escort carriers that had Canadian crews during WW2.
I thought it be fun to add them here since my OC is from the Maple Monarchy (Canada).
And no, I am not Canadian. I'm too grouchy to be one anyway.
