Gwendolyn was in class when she got a message from Daisy, telling her to meet her behind her high school. She excused herself, getting a hall pass for the bathroom, then snuck out of the building.
She saw Daisy running from the school parking lot not a minute later.
"Why'd you call-"
Daisy hugged her, she hugged herself, and then she was whole. Daisy let go of her, blushing slightly, but she didn't step away.
"Sorry I-" Daisy started but didn't finish.
"I know. I was bonded with you." She'd been so excited to reunite that as soon as Gwenom had seen Gwendolyn she'd reached out to touch her. Gwen took a step back to make sure Daisy wouldn't be uncomfortable. "Thank you. For not giving up."
Daisy looked away. "It was nothing." Daisy got closer. "So... if you still want to, I'd love to go on a date? Later today."
Gwen couldn't believe her ears. Not even Gwenom, despite having just been bonded to the older girl, had seen it coming. "Is this a pity date? Or maybe you just want to cheer me up?"
Daisy chuckled. "No. This is just me giving you a chance. And I'm sure we can come up with something to do."
"Okay." She couldn't get out another word; her head was too swarmed with feelings to allow coherent thoughts.
"See you later then," Daisy said turning to get back to her car.
"Yeah." Gwen just stood there, waving her goodbye, and even when Daisy was gone she didn't move.
Gwen hurried back to class; she wasn't sure how long she'd stayed out there, but probably for too long.
"Twenty minutes in the bathroom Ms. Stacey. Should I take it that you were constipated or are you going to admit you where skipping." Class was ending just two minutes later.
"I wasn't skipping; I never skip for only twenty minutes."
"You do know that it's a bad thing that every teacher knows your skipping habits."
"Sorry." Gwen quickly sat down at her desk, which was painfully far from MJ's, she being the only one of her friends that shared that class, and started working on her math problems.
Once the bell rang she and MJ went to meet up with Glory and Betty, but she couldn't hold herself any longer.
"I'm back, MJ!"
"What?" MJ asked with a smile.
"I'm Gwen again."
"Is that what you were doing on your toilet break?"
"Yes! That and I also scored a date with my crush!" She saw her friends just ahead and ran up to them. "Girls!" She threw herself around both of their necks and hugged them.
"What's gotten into you?" Betty had some trouble speaking through her hug so Gwen loosened it a bit.
"I'm whole again and I've got a date with my manager later today."
"What? When did this happen?" Betty asked.
"Like a quarter ago." MJ answered before Gwen could.
"That's great Gwen, we're so happy for you," Glory said.
Gwen froze. "I have no idea what we'll do! And it's today at... I don't even know when!"
"Calm down Gwen. We'll help you pick an outfit that'll work for whatever, one that'll knock her socks off, and I'm sure she already has something planned if she suggested the date."
"Y- Yeah, you're probably right."
Gwen was on her way to meet up with the Secret Warriors for team-practice. Ignoring the third text from George since she ran away that morning. Her friends had already helped her pick an outfit for her date with Daisy so she was ready just in case it started before she met with her friends for band-practice later that afternoon.
When she thought about how her day had been going it was probably among the best days in her life. It had started with her at her lowest and she'd already reunited with her other half, scored a date with her crush, and had gotten so much support from her friends...
(She honestly felt bad depending on them so much; maybe she should get a therapist.)
And she had a lot left to look forward to: she'd hang out with her team-mates, go on a date with her crush, and then practice and hang out with her band-friends. Nothing could ruin her day.
"Hello Ms. Stacey."
She turned around, guard raised.
"What do you want, Murderdock?"
Murderdock hadn't set off her Spider-Sense which probably meant that he wasn't there for a fight, but she wouldn't let her guard down around him. She also noted a lack of menace from any ninjas around her which might mean that they were alone, again: she wouldn't lower her guard.
"Nothing in particular, I just recognized your footsteps and thought I'd say hi," Murderdock said with feigned innocence.
"You expect me to believe that? You're always scheming something."
"I assure you I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Right. Whatever." She didn't feel like arguing about it, wasn't worth the effort if he'd always deny everything, but she decided to take some precautions. In her pockets, and the in her jacket collar, she turned part of her outer layer into spiders. They didn't have the best eyes but if she couldn't trust her Spider-Sense she'd at least use their eyes to see what happened around her. "I figured out your plan, by the way. I won't hunt down your employers' enemies anymore."
"If you're referring to criminal organizations, I'd expect you to handle them regardless of any surrounding circumstances, but if you say so," Murderdock said with a shrug.
She thought he might say something else. He didn't. She considered dropping some spiders on him, see if she could learn something from it, but she'd rather not risk him finding out about her new powers just yet, so she didn't.
"Well if that's all, I suppose it's time for me to leave the city again," She'd have to double check with S.H.I.E.L.D. before she even considered believing him, "but I doubt it'll be the last time we meet, my dear Gwendolyn."
"It's Gwen now, not Gwendolyn. Or, it will be once I have it legally changed." She turned to leave. Murderdock didn't stop her
