.
It was a beautiful day outside by the lake. The birds were singing, flowers were blooming, and... Denmark was being hunted by a swarm of bees after he accidentally knocked down their hive from the tree.
"Nooooo, go awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!"
After a minute or two of watching Denmark rushing around in circles and try to outrun the angry swarm of bees, Norway sighed heavily and turned to look at the Swede standing next to him.
"Go rescue Denmark, will you? Or else we'll be stuck here all day."
"Sorry, can't do," Sweden replied with mirth shining in his eyes.
"And why is that?"
"I'm allergic to nuts."
Norway gave Sweden an unamused look as he adjusted his hold of Iceland, who in turn watched all of his older brothers with great interest and confusion.
"Do you rather want to hear Denmark complain all night over the bee stings he's sure to get if this continues much longer?" Norway pointedly asked Sweden in return.
"No, I guess not," Sweden admitted, still clearly amused. "Give me a minute then."
To Norway's confusion Sweden then quickly took off next to all of his clothes and folded them on a rock beside them.
"Give me Ice."
"Alright?" Norway hesitantly agreed and carefully handed over their baby-brother to Sweden, not sure he would like where this was going.
Iceland was still young and barely looked older than a human toddler, so whatever Sweden's plan was better not put Iceland in any danger. However, rather than getting any answers Norway's confusion only continued to grow as Sweden carefully let Iceland down to stand in the grass a few steps away from them both.
"Ready?" Sweden then asked as he walked back to Norway.
"For what?"
In hindsight Norway should probably have seen it coming, but... He didn't. Because rather than doing something sensible Sweden picked up Norway in one hand, weighting Norway for a moment before steadying himself.
"SWEDEN, DON'T YOU DARE-!"
Unfortunately for Norway, Sweden had never been good at doing as he was told - and thus Norway could only shriek in a mixture of fear and anger as Sweden ran forward three steps and threw him far out over the lake.
"SWEEEEEDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN-!"
For a few seconds Norway had the time to imagine the many ways he wanted to kill his younger brother, but he was interrupted as Denmark's scream joined his own. This told Norway that Sweden had likely run forward and thrown Denmark into the lake as well. This, ASSUMINGLY, having been Sweden's plan to save Denmark from the swarm of bees.
Norway then only had a brief moment to brace himself before he hit and broke the surface of the spring lake, which made the sudden cold shoot a shock through his system. For a terrifying moment Norway wasn't able to move his limbs properly, but soon enough his muscle memory kicked in and he began to steadily swim up towards the surface. It was more difficult than Norway thought it would be to swim while fully clothed, but it didn't take long before he broke the surface – safe albeit angry.
"SWEDEN!" Norway roared the moment he caught his breath enough to do so, and was met of the sight of Sweden rapidly swimming out to him with Iceland on his knees on Sweden's shoulders.
Both of them seemed completely unbothered by the cold, early spring temperature of the lake, but thankfully Sweden at least had the common sense to make sure Iceland was mostly kept out of the water.
"S-SWEDEN, WHAT TH-HE HELL!?" Denmark coughed when he popped up in the water a few meters away from Norway.
"Blame Norway," Sweden snorted in amusement and stopped swimming a bit away from his older brothers.
Looked like Sweden actually had some self-preservation after all.
"I helvete også!" Norway swore angrily. "I told you to save him from the swarm of bees!"
("Like hell (I did)!").
"And I did, didn't I?"
"He's not wrong," Iceland sniggered.
"But now my clothes are all cold and soaking wet!" Denmark whined.
"Yepp, bee grateful," Sweden smugly returned and gave Iceland a high-five from where Iceland sat on Sweden's shoulders.
"Why did you throw me into the water as well!?" Norway interrupted.
"Because if I had only thrown Denmark into the lake then the bees would probably have come after us next," Sweden replied lightly, looking way too amused for that to have been his only reason.
Despite how much Norway hated to admit it, Sweden still actually had a point though. Didn't change the fact Norway had to take a deep breath and look up at Iceland on Sweden's shoulders to remind himself of why he couldn't just blast Sweden away. Clever bastard knew Norway would never risk endangering Iceland.
"Hey, I'm getting cooooold!" Denmark complained loudly. "Can we swim back already!?"
"It's not that cold," Sweden denied with a snort.
"If we get sick because of this, YOU are the one who takes care of us," Norway warned with a hiss.
Sweden only shrugged in reply, but at least made the wise decision to start swimming back.
"Shore, let's go. Water you waiting for?"
Norway came to the conclusion wasting a bit of magic on this was worth it and immediately used it to lift Iceland away from Sweden's shoulders before teleporting Sweden 15 meters away and up in the air. Sweden made a satisfying yell of surprise before he splashed into the lake to the sound of Denmark's laughter.
At least the bees were gone by the time they made it back.
