It was awkward between Huey and Huelene on the way to iHop. Huelene fidgeted with her fingers, trying to come up with the proper words to say to Huey. When Huey's wife or ex-wife arrived, she had a lot going through her mind.

In her case, Adaline had a lot of questions, and she didn't know how to respond to all of them. Huelene was relieved when Huey arrived to save the day because he knew exactly what to say. Adaline was still his wife, and she liked Huey's awareness of how she might feel.

Even though Huey and Adaline were getting divorced, seeing her father with someone other than her mother was painful. Huelene was disappointed to learn from Huey's background check that he was already married to another woman and had children with her.

It was comforting to know she had siblings because she had always wished for brothers and sisters as an only child. And, according to Adaline, she has a younger sister named Jazmine, which is weird because that is her mother's name, and Huey seemed uncomfortable when Adaline mentioned it.

With Adaline questioning about her mother and Huey jumping in to say Huelene didn't know, there's a lot going on. Adaline had no idea who Huelene's mother was or what Huey's history was. Huey, she implied, would probably not remember who her mother was because he used to sleep around before they met.

Huelene wondered if he had sex with women before or after her mother, but she wasn't sure if she should ask Huey about it. Huelene had no right to know about any woman other than her mother with whom he had slept. But it hurt to know that her father was a bit of a hoe after her mother left him, but she could understand.

Huey was depressed because he lost the love of his life and she never came back. And what made it worse is she shortly died after she left.

"So what was that about back there?" Huelene asked.

"It's nothing, just forget about it," Huey suggested as he focused on the road.

"How can I forget about it. You just lied to your wife and you never told her anything about Jazmine," Huelene said as Huey sighed.

"Huelene, you don't understand, it's easier to leave things in the past," Huey said.

"Easier? Huey that's sad, no offense, but naming your daughter after your ex-lover is heartbreaking," Huelene said calling him out.

"I know, but at the time we were picking names and I remembered she asked me because she wanted me to be included and I came up with Jazmine with a 'z', and it's not my fault Adaline liked the name," Huey said trying to defend himself which made Huelene frown at him.

"If it was Jasmine with an 's' it would lay off the pressure but with a 'z'?" Huelene rhetorically questioned.

"Oh my God, that poor woman doesn't know her daughter is named after my mother, your ex-lover," Huelene said feeling bad for Adaline.

"How come you never told Adaline about my mom?" Huelene questioned once again.

"Huelene, you don't just intentionally bring your past into a new relationship, and forgive me for trying to move on," Huey tried to explain.

"I just can't believe it," Huelene said shaking her head.

"Huelene that's like you sleeping around before you met the one, and usually people don't like to date other people who been around the block, so you keep that to yourself to prevent drama from happening," Huey exclaimed.

"But drama might happen now Huey. What if Adaline finds out the truth about Jazmine and the reason why you named you guys' daughter after her?" Huelene wondered.

"She's not going to find out," Huey assured.

"Why and how?" Huelene kept asking.

"Huelene you have to consider the circumstances of other people's feelings. Adaline is already going through a tough time with this divorce and I don't want to make it worse by talking about my ex-lover in front of her," Huey explained.

"Make sense!" Huelene said in shame.

"Exactly, and thankfully she accepted you with slightly opened arms," Huey said in relief.

"Yeah, I didn't expect her to accept me," Huelene said a bit surprised.

"Neither did I, but that's not part of her character to treat you bad, she always welcomes everybody with open arms. You see that she was trying to get you to talk to Jazmine and also make you breakfast since you're surprisingly pregnant, and why didn't you tell me you're pregnant? You shouldn't be trying to find me when you're pregnant, you should be resting," Huey fussed.

"Well I didn't think too much about my pregnancy until she asked me this morning," Huelene said as Huey shook his head. His daughter was just like him. Focused way too much on the task at hand to care about yourself.

"You should be at home resting not trying to find me," Huey had suggested.

"I know, but it all came unexpected, and my goal was to find you before the baby was born," Huelene tried to defend.

"You could have waited," Huey suggested.

"Yeah, but the baby would be born and take all my attention away, and I didn't want to leave my wife with the baby trying to find you and miss out on everything," Huelene explained.

"I understand, but you still need to rest," Huey told her. He pulled into the IHOP parking lot and parked his truck in the back.

Huey departed his truck and circled around to assist Huelene in exiting the passenger seat. They both went into iHop to find it was a little crowded. Huey walked to the front, and the lady recognized him right away. "Huey Freeman," the lady replied, snatching two menus, "I have your usual seat over here by the window." Huey followed the lady to his normal seats, and Huelene followed behind him, perplexed.

Huey was presented with a very clean table by the window in the back. Huey and Huelene sat down at the table, still surprised. "What would you guys like to drink?" the lady from the front inquired, as she slowly set the menus in front of them. Huelene boldly stated, "I would love Hi-C." Huey said, "Coffee for me." "All right, and would you two like to place an order?" she inquired.

"Blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, and mac n cheese," Huelene quickly answered.

"Ok, and Huey, same as always?" she asked as Huey nodded.

"Okay!" she said excitedly leaving.

"Are you like a celebrity around here?" Huelene asked once the lady was out of sight.

"No, I just come here often," Huey simply answered.

"Oh okay!" Huelene said as the lady came back with her Hi-C and Huey's coffee.

"Here's your Hi-C and your Coffee Mr. Freeman," she said placing both Huey and Huelene's drinks in front of them.

"And I'll be back with your orders in a little bit," she said before leaving.

Huelene started to tap on her glass of Hi-C while Huey took a sip of his drink.

"I have a question?" Huelene asked getting Huey's attention.

"Yes?" he said awaiting her question.

"Were you sexually active before you met my mom and after she left?" Huelene questioned as Huey sighed.

"Do we have to go into this topic?" Huey asked wanting to avoid it.

"Yes, it's how I got here, and what if you had kids with other women that could be possibly older than me," Huelene theoretically spoke.

"That wouldn't be possible because I have never put my penis inside a woman's vagina at the time. I was doing everything else but that," Huey answered.

"Oh, so you were sexually active before you did it with my mother," Huelene pointed out.

"Yeah, kind of," Huey said which cause Huelene to look at him funny.

"What do you mean kind of?" she questioned.

"What I mean is I was doing oral and anal, but I never put it inside their vaginas," Huey answered.

"Oh come on," Huelene frustratedly spoke pitching the bridge of her nose.

"What? I was a teenager and around those times, sex was the thing," Huey defended.

"How old were you when you started doing all of this stuff?" Huelene asked.

"I started doing it the summer before I started freshman year of high school," Huey answered as Huelene looked at him in disgust.

"Did you like my mom then or later?" Huelene asked as Huey slightly looked down at his drink.

"I had been liking Jazmine before I was sexually active. She didn't know that because she was too busy with other guys," Huey said getting a little upset when he mentioned other guys.

"Other guys, so my mom was also sexually active?" Huelene questioned.

"No! Jazmine, unlike everybody at that school, actually had self-respect. She didn't let any guy go below the waist area and she didn't even let them get to second base for all I know," Huey immediately answered.

"Except you!" Huelene mumbled.

"Exactly, but do you have any more sexual questions to ask before our waiter comes back with our food? Because as soon as she gets here the conversation is over until we get back home," Huey sternly asked as Huelene giggled a little.

"Yes, I have one more; did my mom know anything about your sexual activity?" Huelene asked.

"At the time I didn't think she had a clue, but now that I think about it, I think she knew but she kept it to herself," Huey answered.

It was after school, Riley had basketball practice, and my Grandad was at the park with Uncle Ruckus. So I had the house to myself. I invited this girl I was flirting with in my P.E. class.

I think her name was Jessica Thompson, she was biracial, long curly hair that came down to her back, and she was a little thick. That's all I could remember about her.

Our P.E. teacher didn't seem to pay attention to us because he was usually flirting with other teachers who passed by our gym or eyeing out the female students, which I felt was a little creepy. Jessica and I sneaked out of his class and returned to my house to talk. However, conversing lead to other things.

We both decided to smoke a little weed and we got high. Jessica was feeling on me, and I wasn't one to turn down a female that was offering it to me. So I let her pull down my pants to give me a blow job.

And all I had to say is she wasn't bad. I had better ones before but she was decent enough to hang with the other's.

Time had went by so fast I didn't know until I heard the doorbell ring. Of course, me being a teenager who wasn't supposed to be sexually active had got myself together for whoever was at the door.

It could have been my Grandad who forgot his keys, Ruckus who came to complain, Tom or Sarah to ask where Jazmine was at, or someone random. But the point is, I didn't want them to suspect anything that I was doing.

I sprayed some colgne on me to cover up the scent on my clothes and took a breath mint so nobody could smell my breath. Before I left my room I cracked open my window so the scent could leave my room.

Then I headed downstairs with Jessica following me and answered the door to be met with Jazmine.

She had looked cute in her sunflower dress she was wearing that day.

I wondered why she came over today, but then I noticed some books in her hand and I wanted to slap myself upside my head because I was supposed to meet up with her after school to do our research paper.

But I forgot because I was fucking around with Jessica.

I looked up at Jazmine to see she was very disappointed. She had seen Jessica behind me and just sighed and shook her head.

She was definitely mad at me!

"Hey Bae you okay," I heard someone in the background and Jazmine had switched up her attitude to answer the person.

I looked behind Jazmine to see it was her boyfriend, Brody, who was getting out of his red Acura NSX.

I just rolled my eyes and glared at Brody because Brody was her dream guy and her dream guy was just being too perfect.

I hated Brody because there was nothing wrong with the guy. He was perfect for Jazmine!

He had good grades, kept himself together, had nice things, he was athletic, he treated Jazmine like a Queen, he never cheated, and was just too perfect.

Unlike me on the other hand who had good grades, was doing drugs since the age 13, didn't do anything athletic except martial arts, I was an upcoming activist, I hoe'd around, and I felt like I hoe'd around because I always had seen Jazmine with other guys and I didn't like. So, I usually had sex with other girls to take my mind off of it.

"Yeah, I'm fine!" Jazmine answered him smiling.

I rolled my eyes at how she changed her attitude so quick.

"Ok!" he said believing her.

"I'll call you tonight at 7," he said.

"Ok, sounds like a plan," she excitedly said.

Brody gently grabbed Jazmine's chin and brought her in for a kiss. Then Jazmine kissed him back and he parted away from her.

"I'll talk to you tonight," he said before fleeing towards his car. He started it up and drove away down the street.

Jazmine then turned around and looked at Jessica. She gave her a look that was basically telling her to leave. I looked at Jessica to see she looked a little scared and then she said: "Huey, I'm just going to go home, I'll talk to you later!"

Jessica tried to lean in to kiss me on the lips but I kind of dodged it because Jazmine was right in front of us and she looked impatient.

"I'll see you tomorrow at school," I told her before she left. She was walking to her house which was only a couple of blocks away from my house.

Jazmine watched her walk away until she was out of sight then she looked back at me and gave me this look. She walked past me and said: "You smell bad!"

Okay, I didn't succeed in covering up my odor.

She walked pasted me disgusted and went into the kitchen to sit at the table.

I closed the door behind me and went to go work on our research paper.

"Sorry for not picking you up," I apologized as she looked like she didn't want to hear it.

"It's okay, Brody had offered to drop me off before he went to practice," Jazmine said changing her whole attitude once again.

She was in a lovable daze because of Brody.

"That was nice of him," I rolled my eyes.

"He had took me out to eat during lunch, then we left P.E. to go walk around, and we ended it off with a drive back home," she said smiling.

"Seems like a good day for you," I told her.

"Yeah, so how were you and Jessica? You both came out smelling awfully funny," Jazmine said giving me that 'I know what you did' look.

She knows!

"We were just chillin," I said as she looked as if she didn't believe.

"Right, I hope you guys enjoyed chillin," she sarcastically said.

"Yeah we did!" I said facing off with her.

"So what about you and Brody?" I asked just to take the tension away.

"Oh nothing special, but I have to tell you something, and I need you as a friend to give me the best advice?" Jazmine pleaded.

"What's up?" I asked ready to listen.

"Okay, this is a little hard to say aloud, but I'm thinking about having sex with Brody," Jazmine nervously and excitedly confessed.

I cracked!

I wanted to get angry, but I couldn't because I had no right to be angry. It was perfectly understandable why Jazmine wanted to have sex with Brody.

He was everything she wanted in a boyfriend and possibly a husband. Just perfect!

"So what do you think Huey?" she asked awaiting my response.

"Maybe meet his parents first or try waiting until marriage," I suggested as she thought about it.

"That seems reasonable, he's been wanting me to meet his parents for a while," Jazmine said agreeing.

"That's great!" I sarcastically spoke.

"Yeah, I'll make sure to ask him tonight," she said as I nodded my head.

Fuck!

"It seems like she knew," Huelene commented.

"Ya think?" Huey rhetorically spoke.

"Yes, but I can't believe you were jealous of some white boy Brody," Huelene busted out laughing.

Huey frowned at her for his insecurities he had in his teenage years.

"So did they do it?" Huelene asked right when the waitress came in with their foods.

"No more questions, the food is here," Huey said avoiding the question.

"What, why?" she whined.

"Because I'm not about to talk about this while I eat. I want to eat in peace," Huey said basically shushing her.

Huelene rolled her eyes and then focused on her food in which she drooled over.

She started mixing all her foods together and Huey looked in disgust as her pregnancy cravings took over.

"Huelene, I'm gonna need your mom's numbers after this," Huey requested as Huelene nodded. She pulled out her phone and started texting both of them to ask for permission.
