"When are you going to get it through your thick skull, Kiba?" Naruto looked at her friend who was bent at the waist and trying to catch his breath. "You can't beat me."
"One…one of these days, Naruto. I will beat that smug look off your face." Naruto bent down slightly, since her friend's position allowed her to be taller for once, and lifted his hood off his head. She didn't understand why he wore that heavy thing. They made eye contact, Naruto's smirk never wavered as Kiba just glared.
"You can try dog-boy." The blonde patted his tattooed cheek. "But you will just fail."
The Inuzuka just growled as she stalked off. He followed her with narrowed eyes. He watched her hips sway as she left the training grounds and he swore to himself, he will show her defeat. He is getting tired of losing these damn spars.
With a huff he put his hood back on his head. Even in their late teen years, the Inuzuka loved his coat. Though his mom did have to get another for him after the last one was ripped to shreds. He was glad about that though, he was growing out of it. This one fit him perfectly though, fitting his broad chest and muscled body.
"Akamaru, come on. Let's head home." The dog ran up to him. Too big to sit on his head or be held in his coat now.
"Arf, Arf." He smiled at his best friend.
"I know buddy. One of these days." Both made the long trek home.
Line Break
Once he entered the compound he could hear the sounds of dogs barking and his mothers growl. Hana was running around, he noticed. The other residents were also running around as their dogs were in a frenzy. He looked at Akamaru and sighed.
He forgot that it was mating season.
Usually during this season the Inuzuka's would make sure their ninkin were put in a safe place so they wouldn't get out and fight over the right to mate the females, but after Pain's attack their compound wasn't done being remodeled. Ever since the attack they took in some more strays and some of the females gave birth so everyone had their hands full with taking care of multiple dogs at once. He knew his sister was constantly busy with taking care of their own dogs and civilian's animals. Being a vet at this time was a nightmare.
Their old compound could have housed the dogs easily but since the repairs were being made, the dogs often ran around and would be placed with others for housing (the ones without a teammate that was). With mating season though it was adamant that the females stay far away from the males. Kiba once saw Kuromaru snapped at his mom when she held him back from mating an injured female. The dog in question felt bad after that, constantly licking the woman as a way to apologize for his behavior.
"You know I have to put you in our room, right?" Akamaru just nodded at his friend.
Kiba hated locking his friend in his room but when the clan head made a rule everyone listened. Tsume was Alpha of the clan after all so until Kiba took her place, Hana already declined the offer, he had to listen to his mother.
After making sure Akamaru had everything he needed, he loved spoiling his friend, Kiba made his way to where he knew his mother and sister were. He watched as Kuromaru was staring down some of the younger dogs with his lone eye. Even as an older dog, Kuromaru was one no dog dared to challenge for dominance. He never held back, just like his mother. Kuromaru snapped at any dog that tried to get past him. Kiba noticed that he was watching the male dogs to not rush Tsume and Hana as they tried to help a female in heat.
Kuromaru looked at Kiba and let him pass. He knew Kiba wouldn't dare hurt a scared female. One of the more daring males tried to follow Kiba but was growled at by the Alpha dog. The Inuzuka heir just smiled and shook his head. Boys.
"Is she alright?" He made sure his presence was known to his mom and sister. The last he wanted to do was scare one of them and cause the dog to get scared as well.
"Yeah, she is just being a little aggressive with us." Said female dog just growled and snapped at his sister. Hana jumped back quick enough and looked to her brother. Tsume was too busy trying to calm the scared female. "She got out of the house and sent everyone into a frenzy. Luckily Kuromaru was calm enough to help watch. Haimaru brothers had to be put up. They wouldn't listen to me." Kiba knew his sister's teammates were usually calm but figured their competitive nature caused them to try and see who could mate the female first. "Yuki here is scared and won't listen. Not even mom can calm her."
"Why is she so aggressive?" Kiba asked as his mom backed up a bit to not corner the blonde dog. "She is usually so calm."
"The heat can activate hormones that can change the personality of a female in seconds." His mom explained, never leaving her eyes off the dog. "She nearly bit the balls off of Adzuki over there." He looked to the side where the large hound was being held by his caretaker. He wanted to laugh at the foolishness of him. "Luckily we were quick enough to get him off of her. He nearly mounted her and right now we can't take anymore runts in."
"Our hands are too full. We need to focus on repairs but with everyone so thinned out and taking in more dogs, we won't be able to care for the puppies." Hana explained at Kiba's questioning look.
"That makes sense." Kiba bent down to look at Yiku as she continued to growl at his mother. "Why won't she listen? Even in the heat she usually listens to you mom."
"It is because she believes she is more of an alpha." Tsume responded. Kiba furrowed his brows.
"What do you mean by that? You are the head of the clan and all the dogs know you are Alpha."
"Think son. She lives in head house, she is spoiled by us and never is told no. All the other females listen to her and don't look down at her." Kiba could only nod at that. That did sound like Yuki. "Hell Kuromaru over there rarely is aggressive with her. The hound is constantly tucking his tell between his legs for her. That bastard." Kuromaru barked at that though never left his position.
"So she sees herself as alpha female and believes she is the head?" Kiba stroked her chin. "Like you mom?" Tsume growled.
"I am going to pretend you meant it a different way." Kiba just realized that how he phrased it made it sound like his mom wasn't the alpha. "But yes. She believes herself to be alpha and will attack anyone trying to disrupt that. She is trying to show her dominance. Though all she really is doing is being an annoying bitch!" Yuki growled at that and snapped at the woman. Tsume growled back, trying and failing to show her dominance. Kiba knew the blonde dog was being so hard headed.
He paused at that thought. He knew someone else who was hardheaded and thought she was alpha. He growled at the thought of Naruto. So that is why she was always prancing around the village with her head held high. She saw herself as the alpha. Though Kiba knew why. She was the strongest Kunochi in the village, hell the strongest shinobi. No one could best her in battle. Sasuke was the closest but he would run out of chakra before she could though their duels usually ended in a draw. But he knew Naruto could beat him if she actually let loose.
A thought came to his mind at what his mom said. So he just had to show who the dominant one was. He had to show who was actually the alpha. He grinned at that and knew the perfect way. He couldn't beat Naruto in battle, that he knew, though every time they fought it involved ninjutsu. Next time they spar he will make sure it was just taijutsu. Even all these years later he could best her taijutsu. He just needed to make sure he could make her agree to just that.
"So we just need to show her who the alpha is!" Kiba stated in which Hana just gave him a 'duh' look and his mother glared at him.
"That is what I am trying to do." Tsume stated. Kiba sighed and held back from saying something that could get him in trouble.
"Let me try."
Tsume and Hana didn't stop him. He moved closer until he was inches from the snarling female who glared up at him. His mother and sister about to yank him back before he got hurt. He stopped them. He made eye contact with the dog. He stared deeply into her blue, almost white, eyes. He didn't notice but his eyes became feral looking, daring the female to attack him. Yuki's growls became softer and her lips covered her teeth. He continued to stare the bitch down. He was projecting as much dominance as he could.
Tsume and Hana glanced at each other and back at Kiba. The air around him changed. The pheromones he was giving off were that of a dominant alpha. The same ones Tsume always gave off when settling a clan dispute. Hana wanted to roll over and show her neck in submission. She had to clear her head of those thoughts. This was just her younger brother, finally stepping up to the plate. Tsume was impressed that her son was already stepping up to the plate as clan head. She was just slightly older than him when she took over after her father. She smiled at the back of his head.
Yuki stopped making sounds of aggression altogether. She started whining before she went low to the ground under the eyes of the man before her. She rolled over and showed her neck to the alpha standing over her. Kiba smiled as the female submitted to him. He bent down to pick her up and hold her. Hana gave him a smile and Tsume gave him a look he couldn't quite make out. Was that the face of a woman proud of her son? Impressed? Happy? Or all three? Kiba didn't know.
"Where should we take her?" Tsume just led him to a building away from the male dogs. Hana, with the help of clan members and Kuromaru, started to get the other dogs under control and get them into a house until the heat of the females subsided.
Line Break
"What? Want your ass kicked again?"
Kiba could hear the girl that has been plaguing his thoughts once he entered the training ground. He could see her stretching across the field, probably about to practice some ninjutsu. He noticed her eyes never left him. Probably just sizing him up.
"I have a proposition." He stated, trying to calm his nerves.
"What type of proposition?" She looked at him with wonder and suspicion. Her eyes were narrowed at him.
"A spar." She was about to say something before he stopped her. "But only taijutsu."
"Hmm where is Akamaru? You trying to get him to sneak up on me?" Her eyes never left him. He figured that she was trying to sense any chakra surrounding her.
"Akamaru is busy back home." That was true. Even if he wasn't, Kiba wasn't going to use him in this spar. Not this time. "Just a good old fashioned spar. You vs. me. No ninjutsu, genjutsu, or kenjutsu. Just regular taijutsu."
"Alright. What do I get out of it if I win?" Of course she was already thinking she would win.
"I won't challenge you any more." He stopped her before she could speak. "But if I win, you have to admit I am better than you at being a shinobi." He didn't care that much about him winning. Kiba just knew that would drive her to beat him.
"No deal." The Inuzuka looked at her in shock. Why would she do that? She was supposed to accept.
"Why?"
"I don't care if you challenge me." He was sure she was annoyed when he challenged her.
"Fine, what do you want?" Kiba just huffed.
"You pay for dinner for the next week." She looked proud as she said that. Kiba just looked stunned. The boy growled at that. In the chance she did win he would have to cough up an ungodly amount of money to please her. He knew her appetite was only after the Akimichi clan. Though she might be able to give some of them a run for their money. He just sighed.
"Deal." She whooped and did a little dance at his reply. He watched as she did so.
Kiba will admit he found the girl attractive. Unlike most of the kunoichi in the village, Naruto looked very different. "I wouldn't get too ahead of yourself." She just glared at him and took a fighting stance. Even now she doesn't use a particular style. Good, he wants a tough fight, one he can't predict her moves and finish it quickly.
"This is going to be like the Chunin exams all over again." Kiba growled and took his stance.
Both of them just stared each other down. Kiba's wild eyes watching her for any movement. He didn't want her to get the jump on him. Her eyes narrowed at him, plotting for what to do. It was like this for a few more moments before both got tired of waiting.
Naruto charged him with the speed of the Yondaime. He couldn't dodge, so he blocked. He grunted when her fist impacted him. He didn't know she was that strong. It felt as if he just got hit by Tsunade herself. Kiba skidded across the field, leaving a small trench in wake. She was on him once more, luckily for him he was able to move out the way before her foot was brought down on his head. It seems she wasn't holding back either. He grinned at that. He did love a good fight, especially from her.
"That all you going to do? Take my hits and dodge?" She asked him as he dodged again.
"Just you wait." He snarled at her.
Kiba saw an opening and took it. He punched her in the stomach with as much force as he could. She grunted but kicked him in the side for his actions. He went flying which allowed her to catch her breath. Once he landed Kiba's thoughts ran rampant. Could he actually win this? How was she able to take a hit like that? Why was he turned on?
He picked himself up and stared her down once more. She looked pissed after that hit she took.
Both rushed each other once more this time they were ready for each other. They met in the middle. Kiba swiped at her, she blocked. She kicked at him, he blocked. This happened for a while longer before Kiba got lucky and sent her back. Unlucky for him the hit was weaker than he intended it and she stayed on her feet though did skid across the ground. She steadied herself but didn't have much time to gain her bearings.
Kiba didn't relent. He punched, kicked, and clawed. His fingernails grew into claws, trying to swipe at her when he got the chance. He picked up speed as he continued to attack her. He made a big mistake though. He forgot she wasn't the fastest kunoichi for a reason.
Every attack he made was dodged or blocked and the one attack she made he was tricked. She feigned a punch to his right but failed to block the uppercut from her left hand. He went flying in the air and lucky for him she didn't follow. He righted himself and broke his fall. Kiba's jaw stung and if he was anyone differ it probably would have been broken. He positioned himself in the four leg technique. His claws dug into the earth and his feet gripped the dirt. He could hear the growl of his opponent.
"You ruined my fucking jacket!" She yelled at him. He watched her take the orange and black cloth off. It no longer looked like her jacket but instead strips of fabric that hung loosely off of her. His claws really did a number on that damn thing. She dropped it to the ground and he couldn't help but admire her form.

He grinned as the soldier pill took effect. He felt better, faster, stronger. Now he was ready.
Line Break
Both combatants struggled to breathe. Naruto glared at Kiba as he struggled to stand. She was lucky in that regard, she was just trying to catch her breath with her hands on her knees. The Inuzuka put up a good fight but she got lucky with that last punch that sent him across the field. She couldn't help but grin as he now stood up but was having trouble get his bearings.
"You done?" She asked as he nearly toppled over. "I'm tired and in desperate need of a shower."
Naruto knew she didn't smell the best. Her hair was a mess with dirt and leaves in it, her clothes hugged her due to the sweat and made her super uncomfortable, and her sports bra was nearly torn off of her. Though she cared little about that, she would just take Kiba's jacket before she left to cover up.
"When did you get that good at taijutsu?" He asked her through clenched teeth. He was pissed.
Kiba knew he lost, he just didn't understand how she got that good. He was the second best in their class and here he stood beaten by the dead last. Again. Though looking at her he was the lucky one. Unlike Naruto, Kiba's clothes were relatively fine. His green pants had some tears from the ground and his gray jacket could be fixed with some stitching. Though he would have to clean the dirt from the fur on the hood.
"I don't know, dog breath." Naruto stretched her aching body. Kiba couldn't help but stare as she pushed her breasts out. "You pick up a few things fighting a few S-rank shinobi's." He did agree with her there. "So are we done here? You owe me some ramen for a week."
"Just one more thing." She growled though before she could react, he crossed the field in seconds and tackled her.
