It was 11 a.m., and Huelene was just beginning to stir from her slumber. She sat up and stretched her back out in bed. She looked at the clock and realized she had been asleep for quite some time. Huelene jumped out of bed and took a deep breath. It smelt bad, very bad.

It smelt as if there was an intoxicating scent in the air.

The last time she smelled this she was at a protest with a bunch of hippies who were smoking and having sex.

Huelene had gone to go look for Huey to find out where the smell was coming from. She left the guest bedroom and walked down the hallway towards the kitchen where the smell was getting stronger.

"Huey!" she called out as she covered her nose.

There was no answer!

"Huey!" she called out once again.

She went to where the kitchen was and she couldn't find him. She even checked the living room and there was still no sign of him.

Huelene decided to go look outside, where she spotted him by a tree. He was smoking and he had liquor in his hand.

"You gotta be fucking kidding me," she angrily mumbled under her breath.

She angrily stomped towards the front door and opened it to clearly see Huey right next to the tree.

"HUEY WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!" she yelled.

Huey looked up at her carelessly and made his way toward the house.

Huelene had just stood there wondering what caused him to start smoking and drinking.

Huey was a bit wobbly as he was walking. He eventually made it to his front porch where he leaned on the rail.

He looked at Huelene who was very disappointed.

She had her arms crossed and was giving him the look just like Jazmine did.

But he didn't care!

"What?" he asked irritated.

"Why the fuck are you smoking, I thought you quit," Huelene asked out of concern as Huey made his way up the porch.

"I just needed to clear my mind," Huey carelessly answered as he entered his house.

"And drinking and smoking is the way to go?" Huelene rhetorically questioned.

Huey headed towards his bathroom with Huelene following him.

"Yes, I do it every once in a while," Huey lied.

"No, you implied you haven't done it in years. You said you spent time working on yourself and you were able to get better and stop smoking," Huelene reminded him.

"I was, but somehow the feeling came back," Huey said out of disappointment.

Huey entered his bathroom and started grabbing his toothpaste and toothbrush.

He put a little paste on his toothbrush, splashed it with water, and then started brushing his teeth.

"What happened, you seemed fine yesterday," Huelene asked.

Huey didn't answer her as he was brushing her teeth.

"You were happy talking about my mother, and then all of a sudden you act as if you heard some bad news," Huelene reminded.

What she yet to know is that is exactly what happened.

Huey finding out that Jazmine had cheated on him and died from AIDS had really bothered him. He cried over it last night, but he was soon mad. He was pissed off to know the love of his life had done this behind his back.

Huey spits the toothpaste out of his mouth as he got done brushing his teeth. He washed it all out with water and then he grabbed the mouthwash and started gargling so he could get rid of the scent.

He spits the mouthwash out and then he smelled his breath to make sure it was clean.

Then he went back into his cabinet to grab his cologne that easily covered up the scent. It took a couple of spays to cover the smell.

"Is that what happened?" Huelene questioned catching Huey's attention.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"Did you find out disturbing news about my mother?" Huelene asked desperately awaiting his response.

Huey debated if he should tell Huelene about Jazmine having AIDS. He didn't know if it would ruin her mother's image.

This felt like the situation with Jazmine and Sarah, but, the only difference is Sarah did have AIDS. He never wanted to tell Jazmine about Sarah because he didn't want it to ruin how she had seen her mother.

Jazmine loved her mother and he didn't want to ruin that. Even though Huelene didn't know Jazmine, she had heard good things and good things only about Jazmine. He didn't want to ruin Huelene's image of her by telling her that Jazmine died of AIDS because she cheated on him.

He was grateful Huelene came out a healthy baby. This disease could have easily affected her but she was a survivor of it.

Huey had understood why Ebony didn't want to tell him why Jazmine died. She didn't want him to get hurt. For the first time, he had seen her take side from a mother's perspective on telling him. He still thought it was inappropriate that she didn't tell them years ago, but he could understand why she kept it.

It ruined Jazmine's image of what type of person she was.

He found it hard to believe she would do something like this. It wasn't in her character and he couldn't believe he didn't catch any of it.

"No, I didn't find anything disturbing about Jazmine," Huey lied.

"Then what was it about. What did you find so disturbing that you went to drink and smoke?" Huelene questioned.

"A rape case that brought back bad memories," Huey lied causing Huelene to feel guilty.

"Oh...I'm sorry, but you shouldn't smoke and drink because of it. You'll ruin your body that way," Huelene said.

"I know, and I won't do it again. Just brought back some bad memories," Huey assured.

"Ok!" Huelene said.

The doorbell started to ring and Huey walked past Huelene to go answer it. He rushed to the door as it kept repeatedly ringing. Huelene once again followed him to the door and stood at an appropriate distance as Huey answered the door.

When he opened the door, it revealed Adaline and a young woman that looked similar to her. Huelene was amazed because the girl looked as if she could be her twin sister. The only thing different about them was their eye color and their hair texture, which weren't too far apart from each other.

The girl had kinky afro curls while Huelene had loose afro curls. She had Huey's skin color while Huelene was a little lighter.

Huelene looked her up and down to see she had a big baby bump. That was odd!

"Good morning Huey!" Adaline entered the house giving Huey a kiss on the cheek.

"Good morning Dad!" the girl had said entering the house and giving Huey a side hug.

'Dad?' Huelene thought.

"Morning," Huey mumbled towards both of them.

"Where's Huelene at?" Adaline asked.

Huey stepped away so both Adaline and Jazmine could see Huelene who was behind him.

"Good morning Huelene!" Adaline excitedly greeted her with a hug.

"I want you to meet your sister, Jazmine," Adaline said departing from Huelene to show her Jazmine who looked nervous as well.

"Hi!" Jazmine nervously waved.

"Hi!" Huelene waved back.

Adaline watched in awe as the two sister's encountered each other for the first time.

"This is so cute!" Adaline said tearing up a bit.

"Adaline, they only said hi to each other," Huey said not seeing what Adaline was seeing.

"Shut up Huey, let them have their moment," Adaline shushed.

"Okay," Huey said walking away into the kitchen.

"You two should hang out today and get to know each other," Adaline strongly suggested as Huelene and Jazmine looked at Adaline funny.

"But we don't have a car and no money. I spent most of it trying to get the baby supplies," Jazmine said.

"Don't worry, I'll cash app you money and you guys can take my car to go shopping," Adaline exclaimed.

"Shopping?" Huelene questioned. Huelene would offer to take her car but she didn't know Jazmine or Adaline well enough to be having them in her car.

"Yeah, you've worn the same clothes, almost 2 today's in a row," Adaline pointed out as Huelene noticed she hadn't changed.

"Okay, we can go to a spa and then go shopping for new clothes," Jazmine said as Adaline excitedly clapped.

"Yes! Here are the keys," she said pulling out her keys and handing them to Jazmine.

"Mom, are you sure you're okay staying here alone with Dad with all the divorce stuff going on?" Jazmine asked, concerned for her mother.

"I'll be fine, we're mature adults and we can put things behind us," Adaline said as Jazmine shrugged her shoulders.

"Okay!" she said turning towards the door.

Jazmine left with Huelene following her outside to the car.

Adaline kept looking at them in amazement as she saw the two sisters leave together. She always wanted a sister, and it hurt that Jazmine couldn't have a sister to grow up with. She was the only girl Huey and her had while the other two were boys.

So it was nice to see Huelene and Jazmine hang out with each other for the first time.

"Is there a reason you wanted the two to hang out?" Huey asked as Adaline frowned at him.

"I want them to have that sisterly bond," Adaline answered walking into the kitchen.

"Is there a reason why it was rushed? Huelene's only been here for two days," Huey questioned.

"Yeah, I know, but I feel like she needs to be introduced to the family before she leaves to go back home," Adaline answered.

"Yeah, it would be good for her to know her brothers and sister, but let's not scare her into it," Huey suggested as Adaline nodded.

"I can probably invite her back for Jazmine's baby shower," Adaline had in mind.

"I don't think she'll mind coming, but she has to see how her schedule is," Huey said.

"Yeah, and maybe after that, she can have a baby shower," Adaline suggested.

"Adaline, let's not rush this!" Huey said as she nodded.

"Right!" she said calming down.

"So, how do you feel about all of this?" Adaline asked.

"Feel about what?" Huey wondered.

"How do you feel about your daughter appearing on your doorstep after 30 years?" Adaline asked.

"Honestly, it hurts because I've missed so much of her growing up. I didn't get to be with the mother throughout the pregnancy and see the ultrasounds, I missed the day she was born, I didn't get to bring her home, see her take her first steps, say dada, walk her to school, see her graduate, and just grow into a beautiful woman. I didn't even get to hear her coming out about her sexuality," Huey spoke honestly.

"Yeah, but at least you'll be there for her pregnancy and to see the birth of your grandchild," Adaline reminded.

"Yeah, I can't wait!" he smiled at the idea of it.

Even though he was depressed because of losing Jazmine, he still went on to live his life, and even when he wanted to leave this world and be with her in the afterlife, he couldn't because he still had to fulfill his life. He achieved everything he possibly could and the last thing on his list was being a grandfather.

"Me either!" Adaline gleamed.

"You're going to be a good grandmother," Huey complimented.

"And you're going to be a good grandpa," Adaline responded back as she and Huey stared at each other.

Adaline's heart skipped a beat when Huey smirked at her. "You have a beautiful smile!" Adaline blushed as Huey complimented her. "Thank you!" she exclaimed, her voice faltering. She couldn't stop herself from wanting Huey since she felt so lovely with him. She didn't seem to mind that they were divorcing. Adaline kissed Huey on the lips as she leaned in close. He gripped her face to bring her back into a kiss when she withdrew from him to see his reaction.

He wanted here too!

Huey stuck his tongue in her mouth and started swirling it around. Adaline moaned under her breath at the feeling. It was starting to make her wet.

When Huey departed from her, the first thing that came out of Adaline's mouth was: "Let's go to the bedroom."

Huey picked her up and kissed her on the way to his bedroom.

God, he was an idiot!

Thank you for reading!
