"Maybe, I'll go buy something."
I couldn't sleep, so I got up and went outside to get myself something.
"Hmm?"
I was on my way to the vending machine, but I heard some faint voices nearby so I went to the direction of it.
"Well, I don't really need to hide, but..."
It came from Suzune surprisingly, but seeing her is a no-no right now, so I kept my self hidden and leaned on the machine.
I sensed another person was with her.
"Suzune, I didn't expect you'd follow me here." The tall guy said.
"Brother, I'm far from the failure me you used to know back then. I came here to catch up with you."
Suzu and... her Brother? In the dark, I couldn't see the person she was talking to.
Perhaps, it was her brother.
"Catch me, huh."
"You still haven't noticed your shortcomings. You were a fool to choose this school." He said while pushing his glasses upward.
"You're wrong about that. I'll reach Class A soon! When I do-"
"Impossible."
"I will... make it there."
"It's pointless. What an disobedient little sister."
Suzune's Brother stepped closer to her. From my hiding spot, I could see him clearly.
Student Council President Horikita? He displayed no hint of emotion. It was like he's staring at an uninteresting object.
He grabbed her younger sister's wrist, and pinned her against the wall.
"My little sister, assigned to Class D... And I'm the one who bears the shame of it.
Leave this school right now."
"Brother, I..." She tried to speak but got cut off.
"You have neither the right nor the ability to aim something higher. You must learn..."
He was about to strike, with his arm. The situation looked in danger, I grabbed his right arm before he managed to.
"A-ayanokouji-kun!?" Horikita (Younger) cried as she was about to went for me, but I signaled her not to.
"You were about to hurt her, weren't you?"
"Eavesdropping is not an admirable quality." He said.
"Let her go."
"Stop it, Ki- Ayanokouji-kun." Horikita (Younger) said in a restrained voice.
I've never heard her speak like that before. I reluctantly released her brother. In an instant, he tried to backhand me in the face.
I instinctively took a step backwards to avoid it. For such a lightly built guy, he's a nasty attacker.
He then aimed a sharp kick at my unguarded spot.
"Close call..."
"Good reflexes. Do you practice something?" After the attacks, the questioning began.
"Your mom, Piano Calligraphy." I said.
"Oh, that's right. I heard that there was a new student who got 50s in every subject on his entrance exam.
You got the same score on the quiz the other day, too. Fifty, exactly half of hundred."
"Was that intentional?" Hearing this made Horikita (Younger) gasp in surprisement.
"Coincidences can be freaky." I replied to his answer vaguely.
"You're a unique man, I see. Suzune, I'm genuinely surprised to see you've made a friend."
Horikita (Younger) just hung her head low while blushing, she was supposed to say her boyfriend but blushes even more instead.
The Older Brother noticed this, but didn't pushed the matter further.
"Suzune. If you want to ascend to a higher class, struggle with every ounce of strength you have.
And you, Ayanokouji. With you around, things might get interesting."
With that, he left as if nothing happened. Horikit- Suzune quickly slumped to the nearby bench, probably burned out from earlier.
"You've caught me on a rough time."
"It was half-coincidence. I just happened to overhead the conversation on the vending machine."
"I see..."
"I found some rather interesting facts about you, Suzu. You're not only a Tsundere, but a Bro-con as well."
"What did you say!?" She glared at me angrily, slowly taking out her compass.
I didn't say that out loud, didn't I?
