Daughter
In Rivendell you should have dwelled
Amongst trees fair and green
But now your home shall be of stone
Where leaves are seldom seen.
Your raven locks of night spun silk
Shall fade and turn to grey
Your beauty, radiant as the sun
Shall pass with each new day.
Like LĂșthien, you've paid the price
You've chosen a mortal life
To love a man, to share his years,
To be his Queen and wife.
My daughter you shall stay behind
When all your kin shall sail
My time grows short in Middle-earth
I've heard the white gulls wail.
It breaks my heart to leave these shores
To see your smile no more
I'll miss your song, your soul, your ways
I'll mourn the love we bore.
Look to the stars, my little one
Should you suffer doubt or fear
Your family watches over you
And in your heart, forever near.
