Lita paced the hallways of the arena she was in; she couldn't believe what she'd just seen. Had John Cena really just thrown Edge into the river? If she didn't know both superstars as well as she did then she might have been able to convince herself she was seeing things. But she knew it had happened and she knew why. Cena would probably tell the world he'd done it to get back at Edge for what they'd don't to his dad and for throwing his belt into the same river Edge was now swimming in, but she knew better, she knew it was because of her.
The diva ran her fingers through her flame red hair and leaned back against the wall. Damn John Cena for getting her head all messed up like this. She heard laughing coming from down the hall and immediately recognised the voices. She marched down the hall until she was face to face with John Cena.
"I can't believe you Cena…you threw him in the river?"
"I'll see you later man…" Randy Orton said to his friend as he eyed the redhead warily.
"Yeah, I threw him in the river…it's not like he didn't deserve it…" John smirked.
"Don't even pretend you did this because of him or that stupid belt…"
"Oh? Please enlighten me, why did I do it then?"
"You know damn well you did it cause of me…" Lita hissed.
John laughed.
"Damn Red, you sure have a high opinion of yourself don't ya?"
Lita glared at him.
"So how exactly did you make me throw blond boy into that river?" John asked, an amused expression on his face.
The redhead sighed.
"John you really need to get over this…it was one night and that's all it's ever gonna be…" she hissed.
"I don't remember you being such an uptight bitch when you were screaming my name that night…"
"Do ya wanna say that a little louder? I think there's someone 5 miles away who didn't quite catch that"
"Ok…"
Lita clamped a hand over the blue eyed superstar's mouth and pulled him into an empty locker room before he could say anything.
"You just can't keep your hands off me can ya Red?" John smirked. The redhead scowled at him.
"Let me set things straight for you John…that night was a mistake, I was way too drunk and it should never have happened. I have no feelings for you, I never have and I never will…"
"Now we both know that isn't true…and drunk or not I know you loved every second of that night…you can kid yourself all you want but I saw it in your eyes"
John grasped the redheads hand in his own, he could feel her trembling.
"I can't do this John…you need to get over this…I'm should hate you…"
"You can't hate me any more than I can hate you Red" he pulled the diva closer to him.
"John…we can't do this again…let me go, please…"
Blue eyes locked on hazel.
"Fine…I'll let you go…if you can look me in the eye and tell me you don't love me…like I love you…" he whispered.
The redhead sighed.
"I don't love you John…I never did"
John released his hold on the diva's hand. He didn't see the tears streaming down her face.
"Why the hell can't I hate you John Cena?" Lita whispered to the locker room door as she closed it behind her…
