LeeAnna's POV
I should have told Shannon to not get sick either. I forgot that for some odd reason, this was a quirk that all Dragon Slayers had...except for me. I considered myself lucky, and I think Sting was envious of me as well. Lector looked at me as he was trying to comfort his partner, and asked, "Wait, if you're a Dragon Slayer too, then why aren't you getting sick?"
"I have no idea. Maybe it's becauseā¦" I had to think quickly to avoid a situation where I blew my cover. What could I say that made sense to them? Wait...Sabertooth is about strength, so if I say, "I trained myself out of not getting sick," then that should work!
I had spoken my thoughts aloud, which peaked Sting's attention. Lector shook his head at Sting and sighed, "If only you could do that. Maybe you found someone stronger than you!"
I dismissed Lector's comment with a wave of my hand, "No, no, that's not it. I just...enjoyed traveling, so much that motion sickness never stopped me."
"That's so cool! Where have you gone?"
"To some really cool places, like beaches and amusement parks." I couldn't say Disney World because it doesn't exist here.
"Wow! All Sting and I do is work all day, so we never have fun like that." Lector started to pout, and I thought it was rather adorable.
Wanting to agree with him, I spoke, "Believe me, theme parks aren't that fun when you're working at them."
Lector's eyes lit up and he looked at me as if I was the coolest person to ever grace his presence, probably other than Sting. Then again, I would have not known by the way Lector practically shouted at me, "What did you do?"
"I took photos of guests, in the middle of the hottest season in Flo-I mean Fiore. At least, that was my main job. It helped me get experience with working a camera."
"So you like to take pictures?"
"Not quite still photos, but I studied to be a person that works on something called a motion picture, like a movie."
"Why did you need to study if you're a Dark Dragon Slayer?"
He got me there, but I wanted to prove that I was not a mindless wizard doing missions that others wanted me to do. I smiled calmly as I gazed out the window, "Because I wish to be more than who I'm met to be. Maybe I am a Dragon Slayer, but I have a life outside of this guild." Well, I had a life until I got warped here, but it still counts!
Sting perked up at hearing my mini rant, which caused me to look at him. How can someone look so...well, dare I say, hot, when they're ill! He looked intrigued by what I said, so I quickly asked, "Is that a problem?"
He tried to shake his head, but almost got sick. Lector shook his head instead, "Not really, but don't be that outspoken around Master Jiemma. You might get kicked out for that attitude."
"I don't have anywhere else to go." I frowned as I thought of my dorm in Nashville and my family there too. Before Lector or Sting could question me, I continued on, "My sister and I never had a family beyond each other, so we've spent our lives wandering around and learning about things we love."
"So beyond motion pictures-" Lector was cut off by Sting groaning at the sound motion, which caused me to shake my head in disbelief, "What else do you love to do?"
"That's...a good question. Adventures for sure, and being around my sister. We've been through a lot together, and I can't imagine being torn from her for a long time. Painting and crafting too, along with reading."
"You have so many hobbies for a Dragon Slayer! How does that happen? Sting's hobbies are fighting and obsessing over Natsu, along with teasing Rogue."
I shrugged, "I didn't solely focus on being the best I could power wise. I did the things I love along, including becoming more powerful."
Lector now looked at me as if I was Sting! The Exceed hopped over to my seat and...hugged me? Well, it hugged my arm, so I picked it up and hugged it back as it spoke, "That is so cool! Can you teach me how to follow what I love?"
"As long as it doesn't involve Sting, sure." I smirked as I saw the White Dragon Slayer's head fink up at me, slightly frowning. I laughed slightly and looked back at Lector, "I kid. It's not a hard lesson to learn actually."
Sting looked at me, and his blue eyes met my dark brown eyes. I nodded at him as I spoke, "Relax, it won't hurt either." I looked outside and saw that the train was slowing down in a snowy village, with mountains looming in the distance. Lector was still in my arms as I got up and spoke, "Looks like we're here."
"Thank goodness. I hate these contraptions." I turned and saw Sting getting up, his energy coming back.
Lector shook his head at Sting, "You say that every time, and you never let me fly you anywhere!"
"I don't want you to get too tired, that's why!" I started to laugh at their interaction, but Sting didn't know what was funny to me. So, he bent into my face and frowned at me, "What's so funny, milady?"
"You and Lector. Who would have thought that you would act that way towards anything, since you're in the guild that prides power over love." I quickly pivoted around and walked off the train before he could figure out what I had said, and called out, "I'll meet you off the train."
I got off the train and took a breath of the mountain air, and instantly got hit with the cold! I clutched Lector close to me and mumbled to myself, "Leave it to me to choose an area where I'm not used to the weather."
Lector looked up at me, "Will you be alright here?"
I smiled, "Yeah, after all, we have a mission to do. Let's go check in with the requestor."
"Don't you want to wait for Sting first?"
I faced the train once more and saw his stumbling out, looking disoriented, but once his feet hit the solid ground, he was a whole new man. How was he able to recover so quickly? I smiled at Sting as I said, "Welcome to the world of the living. Anyhow, I was going to check in with the requestor."
Sting smiled at me, which caused my heart rate to pick up, "Sounds good to me. I'll go with you, since you're new to the guild. People recognize me, so they'll trust you when you're with me."
Must resist saying what I want! How can someone who is so cocky be this lovable? I quickly shook my head, gazing around us. I saw people minding their own business and sighed, "Or, they'll treat us like normal. Let's get going."
I started to trudge ahead on the path that led us into town. It seemed tranquil here, and not the place where thieves would roam at night. However, as we walked through town, I could see evidence of where the thieves were. Broken glass, boarded up windows, and people who were wary of Sting and myself were all around the town. Yet, when they saw Sting's guild mark, they started to cheer. This terror would soon be over for them.
Sting nudged me and smirked, "See, I told you so!"
I shook my head as I calmly spoke, "Don't get too ahead of yourself, alright? The official request hasn't even started yet."
Lector turned to me, a smirk on its face much like its Dragon Slayer, "But it doesn't hurt to be confident, right?"
"True. Let's just focus on one step at a time." I saw the town hall, and walked there, hoping that it would be warm there. However, knowing that I had Sting and Lector near me, I couldn't help but be confident, like they are.
I saw Sting dash ahead of me, so I dashed ahead too. I was about to open the door to the town hall myself, but Sting opened it to me, playfully bowing, "After you, milady."
"Thank you. Also, please call me LeeAnna. Milady makes me feel older than I actually am." I stepped inside and placed Lector onto the ground, attempting to conceal a slight blush on my face. My mind could not focus easily, even when I saw a council of people gathered around a table, various pieces of Lacrima Vision scattered on the table.
I must have stopped to stare at the pieces because Sting had walked in front of me to place the flyer on the table. I heard him say, "I'm here from Sabertooth to inquire about your request."
I shook my head as I approached the table, saying, "As am I. Please tell us what we need to do in order to complete the mission."
The council nodded at us, gasping. Were they that shocked that Sabertooth would accept a request like this? A woman came up to me and smiled, "Thank goodness Fiore's strongest guild came. We just need help setting up these cameras, and possibly, catching the thieves as well."
I nodded at her, "Alright, so where do y'all want these cameras at?"
The woman gestured to the mess on the table, "Well...you see, we only have a few of these, but they can move around the city. They would only be used at night because that's when the thieves come out. We have a few spots picked out for them, but they're rather high up. Is that okay still?"
"Yes. Do you want to set them up here and take them out, or do you want to set up on site?"
"It is up to you. These cameras are built for snow and cold."
I was lost here. What would I do? On site set up could mean less trips back and forth, but whoever the thieves were could get suspicious. In here, I would be warm, but more trips back and forth to various locations, with even more suspicion.
Sting, however, made the choice for me by saying, "We'll set up on site. While LeeAnna is setting up the camera, I'll rush back here to get the next one to set up. Is that okay with you, LeeAnna?"
So you're telling me that I have to work in the cold, while you stay warm? I see how this works. This was probably going to be a long day out in the cold, especially since I lacked any winter gear at all beyond my letter sweater. I hid my disgust at his lack of thinking by smiling, "Yes. Please let myself or my partners know if you need anything, or if a change of plans is needed."
Sting picked up the first bunch of equipment and smiled at me, "Let's get started, shall we?"
Well...time to put on my Elsa face, and pretend the cold never bothered me.
