Mon and Kon raced across the Arabian desert creating a huge sandstorm. "Gain some altitude. You're messing up the desert," Mon pointed out. Kon looked down and realized the huge storm right below him.
"Oh, shit," he realized.
"Let's take a break on Mount Everest," Mon said as he sped off.
Kon gave chase and two landed on the top of the mountain in mere seconds. "I like it up here. It's the very top of this planet, quiet, isolated, and private," Mon remarked. "Down below are the scores of dead bodies of humans perfectly preserved."
"Brutal," Kon said.
"I talk a lot of shit about humans. They're weak, fragile, and have no powers. But it's not how much power you have but what you do with it. These pathetic humans tried their best and had the courage to die to accomplish their goals," Mon taught.
"Mom said using our power could corrupt us," Kon recalled.
"That's because your mother is crazy-as-fuck and female. She lacks emotional self-control and focus. We have no such limitations," Mon said to him.
"So, we going to conquer this planet or what?" Kon asked.
"Even if we did, it would be a waste of time. All of this passes away anyway," Mon said looking around. "We'll be going back to the future soon. In the meantime, we train."
A climber happened to come up to the top and noticed Mon and Kon. "What the fuck?" he wondered.
Mon and Kon watched as the climber went down the mountain and then resumed talking. "Sometimes, I forget how beautiful this planet is," Mon said looking over the snowy mountain range.
"Was the planet Mon much different?" Kon asked.
"We never had mountains this high. The gravity was a lot stronger than here which is why we evolved to become stronger than humans," Mon said. "The Insane race would conquer hundreds of planets, purge populations, and send civilizations back to the stone age. It's why I came to Earth. It's why you're here."
"I can't believe you left everything to subjugate a planet you've never seen before," Kon mused.
"It was my royal prerogative," Mon said simply.
"You could have destroyed this planet and left if you had wanted to. Not even mom could have stopped you," Kon pointed out.
"Well...when I realized planet Mon was gone, I believed your grandparents were dead along with my entire race. I was lost for a long time. So, I stayed here to train and grow stronger. Your mom changed everything. She turned a job into a home. Then you and your sister came along and changed it all again," Mon said.
"I think I could do the same, leave everything behind and kill bad guys," Kon said enthusiastically.
"Expanding the Galactic Federation and living up to our Insane heritage will take sacrifice, Kon," Mon said seriously.
"Sure, I get that," Kon shrugged.
"Alright, one more round," Mon ordered.
Kon immediately took off and went Super Insane to get him a good lead. Mon also went Super Insane and easily outpaced him back to Smallville.
Smallville
At night, Alex got herself a bottle of wine and worked on her online classes on her computer. Suddenly, twin sonic booms rattled the house nearly toppling her glass over. Mon and Kon entered the house shortly thereafter. "You're going to expose yourselves," Alex scolded.
"Please, people are going to think it was an airplane," Mon said dismissively.
"Except Smallville doesn't have an international airport," Alex shook her head.
"I think teaching my son to reach another MACH speed is more important," Mon said.
"And I have a date," Kon added.
"A date? With whom?" Alex asked suspiciously.
"I'm going to hang out with Sara. I don't even know what we're doing. She's the one that planned the whole thing," Kon said nonchalantly.
"A take-charge girl. I like that," Alex said pleased.
"Excuse me. I'm always in charge," Kon said offendedly, and then went upstairs.
"How about we go out?" Mon asked Alex.
"I'm your sister-in-law and gay, remember?" Alex pointed out.
"So?" Mon wondered.
"I'm already tipsy," Alex said of the wine.
"You need to stop drinking, know your limits," Mon scolded.
"You drink all the time," Alex reminded him.
"Yes, but I don't wreck myself as you do," Mon said and then walked off leaving Alex pissed off.
At the farmers market, Kon ate down his ice cream. "This is like the best deserts in one," he commented.
"Right? I ate way too many of them in Philadelphia last summer," Sara agreed.
"Why would you go there?" Kon asked surprised.
"Helping to build houses for homeless people. It was one of those volunteer group things," Sara said.
"But why?" Kon wondered.
"I don't know. It just felt good and it made me realize we're in a bubble that keeps us from seeing what the world is actually like. How about you? Done any traveling?" Sara asked.
"I've been to most countries on Earth," Kon bragged.
"You're kidding?" Sarah asked stunned.
"Well...my mother was a journalist so I went wherever she went," Kon backtracked.
"That's unbelievable," Sara said enviously.
"I know, right?" Kon agreed. "But...you know...travel is about meeting new people and forming real connections. I don't think I ever did that growing up. So, in a way, I'm envious of you and what you have accomplished."
"That's sweet," Sara smiled.
The two continued to walk about the farmers market with Kon occasionally "flashing" his cash to buy whatever Sara wanted.
Mon came downstairs and noticed Alex was still on her computer. "You're up late," he noted.
"You're one to talk. Where were you?" Alex asked.
"Teaching someone a lesson," Mon smirked. "How about we go to bed?"
"Mon...," Alex sighed.
"What?" Mon asked defensively. "I only meant we should both go to bed in our respective rooms."
"I'm tired of your shit. You've been sexually harassing me the entire time I've been here. I will never sleep with you or be part of your harem," Alex told him off.
"So...what are you doing there?" Mon asked curiously.
"School stuff," Alex said vaguely.
"Come on, you shouldn't have to go to school. Your part of the most powerful family on Earth," Mon said.
"Seriously? I like dealing with school and work," Alex said.
"And I love that about you," Mon said with false sincerity.
"Don't give me that shit," Alex shook her head.
"Shhhhh...," Mon gestured to her.
"Don't tell me to shush," Alex said outraged.
Mon suddenly slammed Gen. Lane against the wall by the throat. "Holy shit," Alex said alarmed. Mon released Gen. Lane to the floor wearing his Clark electronic mask.
"Sorry, I meant to knock," Gen. Lane said awkwardly.
"I almost killed your ass," Mon lectured.
"Yeah, I noticed. Didn't expect you on me so fast," Gen. Lane admitted.
"What can I say? I'm a little jumpy," Mon smirked.
"Why are you here, general?" Alex asked.
Kon nonchalantly strolled in with Mara coming down the stairs. "What's up?" Kon asked seeing Gen. Lane.
"Lex Corp is about to send the first manned mission to Mars," Gen. Lane began.
"Wicked," Kon said unimpressed.
"I need your father to shadow the mission and make sure nothing goes wrong. Only, he won't do it," Gen. Lane said annoyed.
"I'm busy training with my son and with the Justice League out-of-commission, I'm needed here on Earth," Mon excused himself. "You trying to get rid of me?"
"The planet needs a win right now and this is it," Gen Lane argued.
"People won't give a shit about Mars if there is an attack on Earth," Mon said.
"I think they're going to care if the first four people that land on Mars ends up dying there," Gen. Lane said reasonably.
"My first priority is to my family and this planet," Mon said not backing down.
"I'll do it," Kon volunteered.
"You're only half Kryptonian. This might be out of your league," Gen. Lane said concernedly.
"I've been to the moon. I got this," Kon said confidently.
"Mars is quite a bit farther than the moon," Alex said obviously.
"No shit?" Kon wondered.
"Son, you would be doing humanity a big favor if you went," Gen. Lane allowed.
"What about school?" Alex asked.
"Fuck school. I want to be an astronaut," Kon said quickly.
"The fact that you don't even know where Mars is means you should stay in school," Alex mocked.
"It's a two-week mission," Gen. Lane brought up.
"Shit," Kon realized how boring that would be.
"It's up to you," Mon told him.
"Fuck it. Let's do it," Kon grinned.
The next day after school, Kon casually talked with Mara about the mission in the hallway. "I don't want to lie to Sara...but...," he began.
"This is why dating ordinary people is a mistake," Mara said obviously.
"Why didn't you volunteer for the mission?" Kon asked.
"Mars is a hostile world with White Martians among other things. I don't want to be put in a position where I have to kill things," Mara said simply.
"So, what do I do?" Kon asked uncertainly.
"You're going to catch Covid and no one will know otherwise," Mara suggested.
"But then I look weak-as-fuck," Kon objected.
"There's nothing weak about contracting it. When you overcome it in two weeks and remain our star athlete, you will get even greater praise," Mara predicted.
"Maybe I should just tell Sara who I am," Kon shrugged.
"If you do, she'll forget everything," Mara threatened.
Kon sighed and called up Sara. "Sarah, I'm so sick right now. I think...I think I got Covid. I'm so fucked up right now. I can't even breathe or move. I feel like death. But...be rest assured, I will be as fit as a horse in exactly two weeks from now. So, don't come by the house, alright," Kon said on her answering machine.
"Smooth," Mara rolled her eyes.
Space
Soon thereafter, Kon used a blue spacesuit as he entered outer space and latched onto the space shuttle. "You there, kid?" Gen. Lane asked through his radio.
"I'm here," Kon confirmed.
"Alright, stay out of sight unless something goes wrong. This is supposed to be a win for human spaceflight," Gen. Lane ordered.
"Got it," Kon agreed.
"And another thing, you're also on this mission is to protect the astronauts from the White Martians. We don't know much about them, but they live underground. So, keep an eye out," Gen. Lane said.
"Too easy," Kon said confidently.
"Make sure our astronauts get some safe. Humanity is counting on you," Gen. Lane said seriously.
The shuttle's engines roared as it accelerated towards Mars.
Smallville
Mon and Alex watched the TV from their living room. "Finally, the brat is out of the house," Mon said pleased.
"Don't be mean," Alex scolded him. "How come you're not going on this mission?"
"I can't be in space for too long," Mon admitted. "Kon, being half-Kryptonian, can handle it better."
"Oh, well, I was just thinking you were being an asshole," Alex said understanding.
"You know, I think this is the perfect opportunity for you to move in with Kelly," Mon suggested.
"What makes you say that?" Alex asked confused.
"Your sister has locked herself away, it's an emotional time. You are distraught and emotionally vulnerable," Mon said.
"But I'm not," Alex corrected.
"Kelly doesn't know that. You can go to her teary-eyed and pour out your soul to her and when she's the most sympathetic, you suggest moving in together. She won't be able to refuse you. It will be the greatest guilt trip of all time," Mon said.
"That's fucked up. Kelly and I will move in together at the right time in a rational calm setting," Alex refused.
"Why wait when you can have her now...in your bed...every night?" Mon smirked.
"Mon, you are the last person in the universe I would take relationship advice from," Alex said dismissively.
"In that case, let's take a trip. Mara can handle herself," Mon suggested.
"Where?" Alex asked not taking him seriously.
"Rome," Mon said.
"Sure," Alex relented.
Mon and Alex instantly disappeared from the house to Rome.
Mars
Finally, the shuttle entered Mar's orbit. "About time," Kon said bored-as-fuck. The shuttle gracefully landed on the planet's surface with Kon flying off to not be seen. The two American astronauts and two Russian cosmonauts went to work digging, analyzing, and collecting samples.
Kon watched them for a moment and then dozed off completely bored. When he awoke, the astronauts had been dragged off with the site abandoned. "Shit," Kon realized as he saw footprints leading away from the site.
Rome
Mon and Alex went sightseeing around Rome and then got lunch at a coffee shop. "Julius Caesar, one of the world's greatest conquerors reduced to that?" Mon asked seeing a man pretend to be him for tourists.
"Thousands of years from now, people will do the same to you," Alex predicted.
"Yeah, I suppose," Mon said not looking forward to it.
"This takes me back to one of my international missions Hank sent me on. While I was here, I dated this Italian guy. This was before I realized I was gay," Alex said.
"Of course," Mon said intrigued.
"And I dumped him at the end of it. He was a dick that expected me to worship him," Alex said. "You know, seeing you with Kara makes me feel...fortunate."
"To be gay?" Mon asked incredulously.
"Yeah...," Alex nodded.
"Well...fuck me," Mon said insulted.
"It's not just you. It's the way I see Kara become all submissive for you like some teenage girl. She's always wanted to be dominated and punished for misbehaving," Alex said.
"For us, it's all so clear. But who spanks who in a Lesbian relationship?" Mon wondered.
A dragon suddenly attacked Rome lighting apartment buildings on fire. "There's a dragon behind you," Alex pointed out.
"So there is," Mon realized looking behind him. "Do you trust me?"
"What?" Alex asked incredulously.
"Do you trust me?" Mon repeated.
"Yes, I trust you," Alex relented.
"You have no idea how much I wanted to hear that from you," Mon said pleased.
"Okay, now deal with that," Alex said urgently.
"I'm on vacation with my sister-in-law. Let the humans take care of it," Mon said unconcernedly.
NATO jets arrived quickly on the scene and fired missiles on the dragon destroying it. Mon and Alex watched as an entire block was consumed in fire and smoke. "I think I'm ready to go home now," Alex said peeved.
"Oh, come on. What the fuck?" Mon threw up his hands.
Mars
Kon sped along the surface of Mars following the footprints. At some point, the footprints stopped. Kon landed on the ground and tried to scan through the ground. A dust storm then hit him reducing his visibility. Kon pointed to the ground and blasted a hole that revealed a tunnel system. Entering inside, he used his X-ray vision to scan through the tunnel. On the walls were glowing crystals. As Kon made his way, the crystals became White Martians and ambushed him on all sides.
"Do not move, human," the leader said to Kon.
"I come in peace," Kon lied.
"Are you like the others in white?" the leader questioned.
"Maybe, maybe not, maybe go fuck yourself," Kon grinned.
"He's not like the others. He's able to block my ability to read his mind," the leader said to the others.
"Yeah, you can stop doing that," Kon said annoyed.
Kon was brought before a White Martian king in an underground city. "Welcome to Mars, Earth-man," the king greeted. In a corner of the room, the four astronauts were being guarded.
"Thanks for having me," Kon smirked.
"What is your purpose here?" the king asked.
"To boldly go where no one has gone before," Kon mocked.
"We don't know who this is," one astronaut said hoping to distance himself from Kon.
"It was a secret mission," Kon excused.
"Well, you suck at it," the second astronaut said unimpressed.
"Damn," Kon said feeling roasted.
"Tell me, Earth-man, how are you able to resist our telepathic abilities?" the king asked.
"I'm half-Insane. Have you heard of us?" Kon smiled.
"Of course I have heard of the Insane," the king bluffed.
"Well, I'm going to go ahead and collect my astronauts and leave," Kon said awkwardly.
"The humans are scheduled for immediate execution," the king rebuked.
"You just said the magic words," Kon grinned as he flashed gold.
Kon and the four astronauts ran for their lives as an army of White Martians were almost on them riding bull-like creatures. Kon had bought them some time by assassinating the king and creating a giant hole in the roof of their underground city. "Alright grab hands," Kon said to the astronauts and then flew them over to the space shuttle.
As the astronauts worked to get the shuttle ready for liftoff, Kon remained outside to fend off the army fast approaching. Kon breathed heavily in the thin Martian air and fired a beam at the army creating a dust cloud. Kon then fell to a knee exhausted. The White Martian army kept coming through the dust cloud. One of the cosmonauts triggered his watch.
Kon got back up to his feet and tried to lift the shuttle off the ground. He had some success but was fired upon by the White Martians with their plasma rifles from a distance. Thousands of White Martians were now almost on them. The ground suddenly buckled as something landed on the surface at a fast rate of speed. As the red dust cleared, Karina in her Red Daughter uniform appeared.
"Oh, shit," Kon realized.
Karina fired heat vision on the army slicing and burning away the White Martian army from one side of the field to the other until thousands of them were dead or severely injured. Karina then fired heat vision into the ground itself breaching the underground city and creating explosions and fires throughout. Karina eyed Kon as he lifted the space shuttle into space where it could fire its main engines to go home.
Smallville
Kon arrived home and heard noises inside the house indicating some kind of home invasion. Kon carefully made his way to the door and then suddenly opened it to make a surprise entrance.
"Kon, you're back early," Mon noted. Kon gave Mon and Alex a confused look not certain what was going on. "Wow," Mon remarked upon seeing red dirt stains and blood on his uniform.
"So, how was Mars?" Alex asked.
"Uneventful," Kon lied.
"We're having chicken. We can hear all about it over dinner," Alex said.
"Right," Kon said and then went upstairs.
"Alright, back to interracial lesbian porn," Mon said as he turned the TV back on.
The next day, Kon went back to school. "So, how was Covid?" Sara asked.
"Mostly boring," Kon frowned. "Hey, I got you this," he said nonchalantly giving her a Mars rock.
"What is it?" Sara wondered.
"It's a rock," Kon said obviously.
"Well, okay then," Sara said pocketing it. "Is it okay to kiss you now?"
"Absolutely," Kon encouraged.
Sara gave him a kiss and then walked off with her Martian rock.
Metropolis
While Kon was on Mars, Mara kept herself busy assisting Brainiac 5 in an exorcism. On a bed was a man supposedly possessed by a demon. Brainiac 5 was in his papal vestments while Mara was dressed all in black. Several priests were present as well. "Can't excise me! The book you need for the ritual was destroyed centuries ago," the possessed man told them.
"You mean the Demonius Ex Mortum? It was reconstructed with artificial intelligence to figure out the missing words. Technology, am I right?" Mara smiled as she eyed Brainiac 5.
"A robot with no soul cannot send me back," the possessed man said confidently.
"That's the problem with you, demons. You only think in black-and-white, while I think in ones-and-zeros," Brainiac 5 said to him as the priests chanted the words.
"I'd say see you in hell but nothing awaits you, robot. Only annihilation," the possessed man spat.
The man then calmed down as the exorcism was completed. Brainiac 5 approached the resting man and analyzed his brain patterns. "Contact me if he remains unclean," Brainiac 5 said to the priests.
"Was he really possessed?" Mara asked Brainiac 5.
"I can only tell you what to believe. I cannot teach you how to believe," Brainiac 5 replied. The priests all bowed their heads to Brainiac 5 as he left the room.
Author's Notes: Now, I have a cold dead heart but I didn't think it was cool to have Alex and Kelly decide to move in together under such emotional circumstances. Alex really put Kelly on the spot there. It was like Alex was using Kelly to replace Kara in her life at that moment. Ratings have been slipping for SG. Apparently, woke politics, talking about feelings, and having your hero get her ass kicked isn't what the people want. This episode is a callback to Adventures of Supergirl Season 3 when Mara struggled on Mars. Since CW doesn't care, I wanted to make a point that the thin Martian atmosphere is a big deal.
