LeeAnna's POV
You know what, I'll let Elsa keep her cold. I hate it. There, I said it. I was almost done with setting up the third and final camera on top of a high building. I saw the other two set up, pointed at where the thieves were targeting-mainly small shops and large housing areas. Quite honestly, I did not see a pattern to their ransackings at all! I thought that they were just trying to terrorize the town, that's all.
My hands were shaking as I started to put the pieces of the camera together. Not because I was nervous, but the cold did bother me anyway! Have I said I hate the cold? I quickly was able to focus my thoughts elsewhere as I heard someone land on the roof. I turned around and brushed the snow off of my knees, smiling as I spoke, "It's about time you-"
"Quiet, woman." I looked in the snow and saw a group of men walking towards me. The lead guy spat out, "And just what are you doing up here?"
"Setting up cameras for a film project of mine." Smooth LeeAnna, smooth. I looked behind me and tried to see where Sting was, but I couldn't make out anyone in the snow. The only reason why I got up was because I thought it was Sting coming towards me! I quickly retorted back, "And just what are y'all doing up here?"
"Y'all?" The lead guy started to laugh at me, which made me even more riled up. He walked up to me, which caused me to take a step back...right onto the camera parts. My right heel rolled on the lens of the camera, causing me to fall into the snow. The leader was still approaching me, laughing like a maniac now, "You make me laugh. I might even let you live through this encounter."
He bent down to me and pointed to the camera parts, "Now fork those parts over to ensure that your life stays intact."
"How about you take this!" I pictured darkness flowing to my fists and decided to punch him in the jaw! I then popped up to my feet and gestured to the group, "Now who's next?"
His cronies started to charge at me all at once, so I chuckled as I took a deep breath of air in. What a bunch of idiots...that just ran into a Dark Dragon's Roar. Oopsie, but they kind of deserved it.
I shook my head as I calmly spoke, "Now do y'all mind if I get back to work?"
I didn't notice that the leader got up and grabbed the back of my letter sweater! He yanked back roughly, tossing me over the edge! I quickly shot out and grabbed the gutter on the roof. I couldn't fight if I was worried about my life!
The leader of the group quickly walked over to me, clicking his tongue as he cooly spoke, "All you had to do was give us the camera parts, and you wouldn't be here. Though, I suppose if you fell, it would be an accident. How tragic would that be. Say your last words."
I started to try and scramble back onto the roof, but the edge was too far away from the wall to get me any traction! This caused the leader to raise his foot and to step on my right hand! I yanked my hand away and shook it out in pain. This creep bent down to me and smirked, "You only have a few seconds to say-"
The leader of the group was suddenly yanked off of his feet by an angry man, "I suggest you shut up before you face holy judgement."
The guy turned around and gasped out of fright, "Holy crap, it's the White Dragon! Run for your lives, boys!"
I couldn't help but grin as I saw Sting's fist light up as it connected with the guy's face! He was sent flying across the city from the impact, a feat that I couldn't believe I had just witnessed! Because my focus wasn't on saving myself, my left hand started to slip. I tried to pull myself up, but this bit of effort caused me to start my plummet to the ground.
I reached out my left hand to the roof, to try and grab onto it once more, but it was futile. I cried out in terror instead, fearing that this would be my last living moment in this world. The last thing I saw was Sting's face, panic-stricken at the sight of me falling. However, his face was soon relieved when a blur of red and blue darted behind me!
My fall was stopped by Lector catching me. The Exceed grabbed onto my shirt and tried to wrap its arms around me, causing the two of us to fly! Lector spoke to me, "Geez LeeAnna! Next time warn me when you decide to jump off a roof!"
I couldn't help but laugh as I shook my head, "I didn't jump, someone knocked me off! Thank you for saving me."
"No problem!" Lector then gently placed me back onto the roof and flew back to Sting, crying out, "Sting! Look what I caught!"
Sting smiled at his partner, "Good job, Lector! Thanks for covering for me!"
I couldn't help but smile at this interaction...but my smile faded as I looked at the scattered camera parts. I still had a job to do, so I calmly walked over to Sting, "Thank you for saving me." I really wanted to hug him, but I resisted by folding my arms. However, this caused pain to go through my right hand! I looked at it and gasped...it looked banged up to say the least.
Sting rushed up to me and grabbed my right hand, only causing me to bite my lip to avoid yelling out in pain. My eyes met his as he asked, "You okay, Milady?"
I nodded, "Yeah, but my right hand hurts. I think it's just bruised, so I'll be fine putting this camera together-"
"Here. Since this is the last one, I can help you." He let go of my right hand, and as he did, I noticed a faint glow being emitted from his hands. I gasped, but all he did was smile at me as he spoke, "Pretty neat, right? I'll help you find the scattered parts of the camera."
"You sure?"
He nodded, "Yeah! Besides, what kind of partner would I be if I let you suffer in the cold alone?"
Well, this comment caught me off guard, so I quickly spoke out, "Hold up! How did you know that I didn't like the cold?"
"You're shivering, plus, I heard you muttering about the cold." He smirked at me as he started to go near the biggest pile of parts. I'm kind of glad he walked away, or else his light would have caught my face going bright red.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Lector say near me, "I've got the rest of the parts, LeeAnna! Let's go build the final camera!"
I jumped a bit, but hid it by turning to face the Exceed, "Thank you. We'll be done in no time then!" I then let Lector over to where Sting was, and saw that what little I had put together was once again destroyed due to the battle. I sighed as I sat down in the snow once more, "Maybe not…"
Sting shook his head, "We'll figure it out. You just tell Lector and me what to do, so then you don't hurt yourself."
"Are you sure? I'm sure I can still grab things." Just to further prove this, I grabbed the lens with my right hand, and grimaced as I did. It hurt, but I still managed to spat out, "See? I'm okay."
He gently took the lens out of my hand and smirked, "Nice try. But I can tell when someone is in pain. It can't be that hard to put together, right?" I tried to grab the lens once more, but I was stopped when Sting's eyes met mine as he whispered, "Besides, the quicker we get done, the sooner we'll be nice and warm."
"Alright, just this once." He was about to say something else, but I cut him off, "Just because I'm not a fan of the cold."
"Good. Now, where does this go?" Sting held up the lens piece, which acted like a magnifier for his light. It was incredible to see, but it was going to be a long time before being nice and warm if he kept stunts like this up.
