Kon was going for an enthusiastic walk in the forest near Smallville when he was suddenly hit by a blur. Kon steadied himself and realized his attacker was Tag in a military PT uniform. "You can't outrun me," Tag said to him.
"Not going to," Kon smirked.
The two fought hand-to-hand with brutal punches. Tag held his own punching Kon to the ground. As he did his arms vibrated so fast it greatly irritated Kon's super-hearing. "Could you not do that," Kon said annoyed.
"At the bonfire party, when you broke my arm, what did you do to me?" Tag demanded to know.
"I don't know what the fuck you're talking about," Kon denied.
"Liar!" Tag shouted as he punched Kon to the face. "Ever since that night, I have been different."
"I appreciate you coming out to me," Kon mocked not taking him seriously.
"Shut the fuck up. I can move so fast now," he clarified. "Something caused that explosion. You were right there. And I know you're different, too. And you better tell me how to fix it," Tag ordered.
Kon got back to his feet and gave Tag a condescending look. "I sent a beam of ki energy into the fire to scare you guys, it threw X-Kryptonite into the air, and you were exposed to it," Kon said simply.
"Really? That sounds like bullshit," Tag said and then attacked him.
Kon easily blocked all of Tag's attacks even at super-speed. Despite his speed, Tag's strength was nowhere near to Kon. Even when he landed a blow, it was like hitting steel. Kon raised his hand at Tag and fired a beam at him. Tag retreated at super-speed as the beam hit several trees in an explosion. Enthralled by the fight, Kon raced after Tag near the train tracks.
As it happened, Tag ran along a train to mask his movement. Kon took to the air and spotted him. Seeing someone flying above him, Tag panicked and sliced through the train tracks, and changed direction. "Well...shit," Kon realized.
The train immediately derailed. Kon fired heat vision on the tracks, took control of the train engine, and placed it back on the track. The train then continued on its merry way. Kon looked for Tag from the air and saw nothing. Disappointed he didn't kill his attacker when he had the chance, Kon went back home.
At home, Kon reported the news to his parents. His face showed no signs of injury from the fight. "I kicked his ass but he's still out there," Kon concluded.
"Making sure the train didn't derail was the right thing to do, Kon. It shows you're not a complete sociopath," Kara complimented.
"What did Tag want?" Mara asked.
"Answers. He wanted to know how he got his powers, why he's at the DOD, and who did this to him," Kon said. "So, I told him," Kon said nonchalantly.
"Why would you do that?" Kara scolded.
"First, I was really really confident I was going to kill him within the next minute. Secondly, he already saw me do something at that party," Kon excused.
"What if he says something?" Mara asked him.
"You two are dismissed," Mon ordered.
Kon and Mara got up and went to their rooms. "General Lane called. He assured me that he's on this. Apparently, Tag escaped the DOD by some fluke. His abilities have accelerated. They didn't know what he was capable of and now they're coming up with a plan to track him, to bring him back into custody," Mon said.
"And if he gets to Kon first, he's dead," Kara said darkly.
"I'll keep an eye out," Mon said with false sincerity.
"Yeah, bullshit. There's no honor in killing small-fry like him, even for Kon," Kara said. "This has to be Edge's doing, but his mines are laced with lead. I can't see through them."
"Just kill the bastard," Mon said impatiently.
"No, it has to be done right. I need to collect evidence, hand it over to the authorities, get a warrant, and arrest his ass," Kara said.
"Isn't one Pulitzer thing enough?" Mon rolled his eyes.
"No, it's not. It's never enough," Kara said wide-eyed.
"What do you want me to do?" Mon asked.
"Focus on the kids," Kara said simply.
"So, basically what I've been doing for the last few months while you were gone," Mon scoffed.
"Mon...I don't like dealing with kids," Kara admitted.
"I've noticed. I don't like kids either," Mon said.
"Yeah, well, I have a case to break open. You don't even have a job," Kara pointed out. "By the way, did that guy in black armor ever come by while I was gone?"
"Nope, haven't seen him," Mon frowned.
"I just find it too coincidental that Edge is up to shady shit while this Stranger arrives," Kara said suspiciously.
"Edge can't be the Stranger. Whoever was in that black armor was military trained," Mon figured.
"I have Edge. You have the Stranger," Kara ordered.
The next morning, Kon and Mara came down for breakfast. Mara ate a bowl of fresh fruit while Kon ate a combination of things that would give a normal human an instant heart attack. "You ready for the big game? You better win it," Mon said to Kon.
"I got this," Kon assured him.
"After school, you're going to prove it," Mon ordered.
Meanwhile, Kara was down at the mines looking to start shit. Morgan Edge made a generic speech to prospective workers and then went over to Kyle and Lana. "All of this is possible because of your advocacy," Morgan said to Kyle.
"Wow, that...is going to make me look like a real ass if this doesn't work out," Kyle realized.
"Let's capitalize on our momentum," Morgan said enthusiastically.
"You just say the word," Kyle said.
"I'd like to have your wife...," Morgan Edge began.
Kyle merely gave him a blank look. "Well...,"
"Fill a leadership post on my team. The work you did on those reverse mortgages earned the people's trust. I hope to exploit that trust to my advantage. Together, we will revitalize Smallville starting with a new community center," Morgan concluded.
"Yeah," Kyle nodded relieved but a little jealous. He wanted to be Morgan Edge's partner.
"I'm so grateful. I don't know what to say," Lana said embarrassed.
"You'll know once you see your new starting salary," Morgan said confidently. Morgan then walked over to his assistant, Leslie, who had been keeping watch on Kara the whole time.
"Shall I deal with her?" Leslie asked.
"Why bother? What can she do?" Morgan scoffed having no clue what he was talking about.
Kara looked over the mines and couldn't see into them. "Figured out how to get in them, yet?" Marcus asked coming up to her.
"Holy shit!" Kara said startled.
"May the best reporter win," Marcus said taking off.
Kara smiled. This attractive strong ambitious black man reminded her of James.
At school, Kon and Mara had a chat about the game. "Father doesn't appreciate preserving our identities and human sports records. You must not go too far with your powers," Mara lectured.
"This is my shot to kick ass," Kon told her.
"They're humans," Mara reminded him. "Weak, slow, dim-witted..."
"Oh, hi, guys," Sara interrupted them. "You are going to win the game for us, right?"
"Fuck yeah. You going to come to see me score a dozen home runs?" Kon asked hopefully.
"Friends can absolutely root for friends," Sara said as she took off.
"Damn, that was cold," Kon frowned.
"Don't expose us all over her. She's not worth it," Mara told him.
Kara came over to talk to Kyle while Lana was away. "Lana's not here," Kyle said with a beer in his hand.
"I'm here to talk to you, Kyle," Kara said seriously.
"Come on in," Kyle invited.
The two sat down across from each other on the couch. "I have reason to believe Morgan Edge is up to no good. He's trying to extract X-Kryptonite from the mines so he can create an army of metahumans to do his bidding. Not even you with your strong fireman muscles would be a match for even one of them," Kara began.
"Edge just gave Lana a big promotion, but you want to have us go behind his back?" Kyle asked incredulously.
"I'm a Wayne. Whatever Edge is offering, I can match," Kara rolled her eyes.
"Which you've never offered before until Edge came to Smallville," Kyle said skeptically.
"I know it's a lot to ask," Kara allowed.
"Yeah, no shit," Kyle agreed.
"Kyle, you're being a cuck," Kara said bluntly.
"No, I'm not," Kyle said defensively.
Morgan is coming to your house for dinner, giving your wife a promotion over you, and being really nice and friendly to her right in front of you," Kara argued.
"I'm not a cuck," Kyle said even though he knew it was true. "Does Clark know you're here?" Kyle asked.
"Fuck Clark, I'm in charge," Kara said quickly. "Wait, that came out wrong."
"You got no proof, no evidence," Kyle pointed out.
"That's exactly what my editor told me right before I won my Pulitzer," Kara smirked.
"You want me to trust you? You buy up all the banks and newspapers so you can talk shit about Edge. Your corporate rivalry with the man is going to keep people out of work. Maybe, I should call Edge to get a restraining order," Kyle said.
"Please," Kara rolled her eyes.
"I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine who hasn't had work in eight months, who has got mouths to feed. Edge is the only person that's giving his family a chance to survive," Kyle argued. "You don't know what it's like to see this town dry up."
"I'm on your side, Kyle. If this was any other person, I'd be happy for this town. But Edge is an asshole. These buddies of yours are going to end up dead," Kara warned. "And when he does crash and burn, I'll be here to save this town."
"What do you want us to do?" Kyle asked finally.
"Have Lana take this promotion, find out what Edge is up to, and then tell me," Kara said.
After school, Mon took Kon and Mara to the barn. "Why are we down here?" Kon asked annoyed.
"Training," Mon said simply.
"Look, the only reason Tag wasn't blown to pieces is because I held back," Kon said defensively.
"Exactly. You held back and that's an important skill to have while among humans in this time," Mon said. "So, start with this," Mon said showing a tree trunk on a bench.
"You want me to crack this in half?" Kon asked incredulously.
"Punch it without making a mark," Mon instructed.
Kon rolled his eyes and punched a hole in the wood. "Again," Mon ordered. Kon centered himself and punched the wood again. This time, he damaged his hand. Kon winced and allowed his hand to heal within a second.
"That sucked," Kon said.
"You two have never felt real pain before. You're spoiled rotten to have the powers you do at such a young age. You must be willing to experience pain. It is in pain that you will feel your Insane rage flow through you," Mon taught.
Mara punched the wood as well breaking her hand. Mara eyed her bloody hand and flicked it repairing it instantly. "That was fucking brutal," Kon said impressed. "I don't think I want to do that."
"Kon, don't be a bitch," Mon scolded and then got a phone call from Gen. Lane. "What's happening, Sam?" Mon asked casually.
"Tag Harris was spotted in Kansas City He's fast, hard to track. We have a plan to put this monster back in his cage," Gen. Lane said.
"Nice," Mon said approvingly.
"He broke out of a state-of-the-art facility. That pisses me off. His speed rivals yours. There's no telling what damage he could do," Gen. Lane said anxiously.
"Hold on, general, let's not jerk this kid off too hard," Mon advised.
"We can't worry about feelings. I need to incapacitate this threat. That's what I'm going to do," Gen. Lane said determinedly.
"Go to town, general, go to town! As always, just give me a heads up when you find him," Mon said and hung up.
Kansas City
At the baseball game between Smallville and Kansas City, Kon was easily catching balls in the outfield. In the stands were some random army guys looking for Tag to show up. The KC pitcher then beamed one of the Smallville players in the arm taking him out of the game. This created a discussion as to whether Smallville would have to forfeit the game due to a lack of available players.
"I'll play," Mara volunteered.
"The fuck?" the coach wondered.
"I'm the best softball player. If you need a body, I can help," Mara said.
"Alright, but just this one game," the coach told her.
The KC team proceeded to mock Mara as she went to bat having quickly changed into a Smallville baseball uniform. This pitch was wild like the last one. Mara got into position and hit the ball into the outfield getting an easy double. Kon was already on first base. He sped past second base, third base, and then unnecessarily slammed into the catcher to score a run. The KC catcher was injured on the play.
"You like that shit?" Kon mocked the injured catcher.
Mon called Kon over to the bench. "Rein it in. People are watching. You understand?"
"Yeah," Kon rolled his eyes.
"Good, sit down," Mon ordered.
Smallville
Meanwhile, Kara was working on her laptop on the Edge story. She heard a knock on the door. She scanned through the door and saw Marcus waiting for her to answer. "What are you doing here, Marcus?" Kara asked.
"I stole some inspector badges, two of them. One's for you if you want it," he offered.
"I'm actually kind of a big deal. I don't need an inspector badge to enter the mines. I just enter," Kara told him.
"They're working around the clock to get those mines ready. Right now, the tunnels are packed with inspectors. Security is stretched thin. A lone black guy might look suspicious but the two of us together will look more legit. So...are you in or out?" he asked.
"I'll need to find my wig. Care to help me find it...in my bedroom," Kara asked with a thirsty expression.
"I'm fine standing right here," Marcus declined.
"I'll be right back," Kara smirked.
At the mine, Kara wore a brunette wig. Marcus and Kara both wore inspector uniforms as they walked about. "Mine safety," Marcus said to the checkpoint guy.
"That team checked in hours ago," he said confused.
"I had to grab some more equipment. Between you and me, Sullivan is a damn fool, an imbecile, a piece-of-shit. He couldn't plan a survey if his life depended upon it," Marcus bluffed.
"I know, right?" the checkpoint agreed. "Go on through," he allowed.
Kansas City
As the game continued, KC was getting annihilated 35-4. "Holy shit, ladies and gentlemen, no one saw this coming. The KC players look absolutely stunned," the announcer said.
Kon casually hit another homerun, went around the bases, and mocked the new catcher as he landed on home plate. Immediately, the KC players tackled Kon to the ground for his disrespect. Both teams came out onto the field and the fight was on. Mara stayed off to the side not wanting to get involved. Mon intervened and pulled some of the players away until he reached Kon. He was on the ground bleeding from his face. Mon assisted his son back to his feet. The crowd cheered as they saw that Kon was okay.
Later that night, Mon, Kon, and Mara were in a hotel room. Kon had healed his face after he had exited the field. "I'm proud of you, Kon. You experienced the pain of a true beating," Mon said pleased. "And Mara, you did well to volunteer yourself."
"This was my shot to tear KC a new one and I did," Kon said impressed with himself.
"It's not that big of a deal," Mara downplayed.
Mon then got a phone call from Lana. "Hi, what's up?"
"Did Sara come to the game?" Lana asked concernedly.
"I didn't see her," Mon said. "Why?"
"She was supposed to be here with Sophie and she's not," Lana said worriedly.
"Well, I kept accountability on my son the entire time so...," Mon assured her.
"Oh, it was the Harris kid. I got to go," Lana said and hung up.
Mon turned to Kon and Mara who were listening to the conversation. "Stay here," he ordered them and took off.
Mon dressed as Superman as he went into Kansas City looking for Tag and Sarah. At the same time, Gen. Lane was giving him updates on what they found which was nothing at the moment. In the hotel room, Kon gave Mara a sheepish look. "You're not mad at me, are you?"
"I don't believe it's our place to break records and win games reserved for humans," Mara said.
"Isn't this our world? Aren't we a part of this world? Why shouldn't we be allowed to participate in it?" Kon argued.
"Either lower your power level to humans or create your own league with people of similar strength and power," Mara said obviously.
"You didn't have to play. You could have forfeited the game for us," Kon pointed out.
"Unlike you, I'm trying to achieve balance," Mara said simply.
There was pounding on their door. Mara got up and opened the door only to get ambushed by several Smallville baseball players. "Let's go down to the liquor store and get drunk-as-fuck," they said to them.
"We're under orders from our father to stay here," Mara shut them down.
"Hey, we just won a big game. We should celebrate in the human tradition," Kon interjected. "You coming?" Kon asked Mara.
Mara sighed and decided to go rather than have Kon go off on his own.
Once Tag opened his phone to show a video to Sara in some warehouse in Kansas City, Brainiac 5 got his location. "I have his location," Brainiac 5 said and then gave directions. Mon then went straight for the warehouse and dropped through the roof finding Tag with Sarah.
"Don't run. I just want to talk," Mon told him.
"You're going to send me back to that place," Tag accused.
"What? Nah," Mon lied.
"I'm not going with you," Tag told him off.
"It's either me or the DOD. They're on their way," Mon told him.
Army squads busted into the warehouse having tracked Mon's movements in the air. "Well...shit," Mon said realizing it was too late.
"On the ground now. We will fire," the squad leader shouted at Tag.
Tag decided otherwise and began shaking violently. "Engage," the squad leader shouted.
The army squad fired on Tag all at once. Mon intervened getting in the way of the bullets. The bullets merely bounced off his frame. A specialized soldier fired four Kryptonite darts that stuck to Mon's left shoulder. Mon looked down at the green darts and tossed them from his uniform. Immediately, the suit repaired itself of the holes. "Nice shooting," he complimented the squad.
"Damn," the squad leader said realizing Superman was now immune to Kryptonite. "We'll be taking the kid into custody now."
"Yeah, you do that," Mon said condescendingly.
Tag was handcuffed and taken away while Sara was interviewed. "No, he didn't hurt me. He didn't even make a move on me. Like, am I not pretty enough?" she asked self-absorbed.
Mon approached Tag before he was to be taken away. "You're not going to be alone anymore. There are going to be many other freaks just like you in the prison you're going to."
Tag nodded and went into the armored truck to be taken away.
On some random street, the Smallville baseball team was getting progressively intoxicated. The KC team then arrived on the scene to start some shit. "There they are, the crows," the leader mocked. "You look pretty good for a guy that was dragged off the field," he said of Kon.
"We beat your ass soundly," Kon shot back.
Mara intervened before Kon could create an incident. "Back off before someone gets hurt," she ordered the leader.
The KC team wasn't impressed with a girl telling them what to do. "You both juicing? Is that what's going on here?" the leader accused.
"I don't need to juice to kick your ass," Kon taunted.
"Let's see it. Give me something right here," the leader said referring to his face.
"Relax, Kon," Mara told him.
Kon went for a punch anyway. Mara caught his fist just in time creating a shockwave that blasted out the windows of the nearby store. The wind picked up around them from the impact. Realizing what he had done, Kon backed off. The KC team made some snickering remarks that Kon had been stopped by a girl and walked off in the other direction. Mara flicked her hand painfully and healed it back to before.
"I'm sorry," Kon said lamely.
"Let's go back home," Mara said scornfully.
Smallville
In the mines, Marcus knew exactly where to go. "You sure about this?" Kara asked.
"No use being cautious now," Marcus said dangerously.
"I like that. You know what you're looking for?" Kara asked.
"I got my hands on some schematics. What we want is up ahead," Marcus said as he went past a chain barrier.
"How did you get a hold of Edge's top-secret schematics?" Kara asked suspiciously.
"A friend of mine helped with some precise hacking," Marcus said vaguely.
"I know exactly what you mean," Kara said referring to Brainiac 5.
"It should be right here," Marcus said and then went to work to slice into the cave wall. Kara kept her distance in case there was real Kryptonite behind it. Marcus put on his safety glasses and then used a laser torch to cut through the rock.
"So, a high-tech gadget guy that used to work for Luthor Corp. quit, to pursue a career in journalism? I call bullshit," Kara said accusingly.
"Journalism is secondary to what we both really do," Marcus said as he continued his work.
"Oh really? Just what do you think I do other than winning Pulitzers?" Kara asked.
"You're Kara Zor-El, the Supergirl," Marcus revealed.
"Say what?" Kara thought she misheard.
"You have the same first name, the same body dimensions, the same voice, and the same personality as Supergirl," Marcus said nonchalantly.
"And how could you know that? You a stalker or something?" Kara asked.
"In another universe, we're married. I know more about your body than maybe you do," Marcus said.
"You're the Stranger," Kara realized.
"Yeah," Marcus confirmed.
There was an awkward silence as Marcus kept working. A heat vision beam sliced into the rock nearly hitting Marcus. He backed away as Kara used her heat vision to slice the cave open revealing X-Kryptonite crystals. "X-Kryptonite," Marcus said of it.
Kara reached out and cautiously touched the crystals. She tore one of the crystals out and looked it over. "These mines have the largest supply of it than anywhere," Marcus said to her.
"How convenient," Kara said skeptically.
"Here's your story," Marcus said.
"Too bad no one's going to read it," Leslie interrupted. She fired heat vision on them both. Kara pushed Marcus out of the way of the beam and took the brunt of it.
"Wow, that was weak-as-fuck," Kara said unimpressed.
"What?" Leslie wondered.
"Let me show you how it's done," Kara said and then blasted her with heat vision. Leslie put her hands up in a defensive stance. The red beam severely burned her hands and hit her in the chest. Leslie fell to the ground unconscious and toasted.
Fort Riley
Mon went to have a little chat with General Lane at the DOD. "The girl is safe and on her way home, the subject is back in custody, sounds like a win-win," Gen. Lane said pleased.
"I know, right?" Mon agreed. "However, I prefer to do missions alone. Your soldiers showing up all the time complicate things. Especially, when they're armed with Kryptonite."
"I noticed you weren't hurt in the slightest. New ability?" Gen. Lane asked.
"The radioactive level was too weak, apparently," Mon excused.
"We didn't intend to use them on you. The metahumans exposed to Kryptonite appear to have a weakness for it as well," Gen. Lane excused. "You offended by that?"
"Not at all. I think the DOD should stockpile the stuff to keep myself and Supergirl in check," Mon said.
"Then, we're on the same page. Now, you know what I'm willing to do to keep this country safe," Gen. Lane said.
"I do now," Mon smiled amused and walked off.
Smallville
Kara and Marcus walked back to his RV. "So...why are you trying to kill Superman?" Kara asked.
"In my universe, Superman is elected president of the United States on a slogan of hope and change. He never gives up his power, he eliminates his domestic enemies and conquers the world. General Lane, myself, and other resistance fighters tried to stop him, but we failed. He has the same power level as you do in this universe. So, I came to this universe to start a new life only to find Superman is also here. Don't you understand? I have to kill his ass to prevent him from doing the same to you as he did to my Kara," Marcus said.
"Look, anyone that loved and had sex with a version of me is automatically a friend of mine," Kara assured him. "But this Superman is not your enemy. He's not even the real Superman."
"Wait...what?" Marcus asked confused.
"He's a Jin-Saiyan that I dressed up as Superman. He has similar powers so that's why we've been able to pull it off," Kara smirked.
"That's why he wasn't weakened by my Kryptonite," Marcus realized.
"Exactly. You're lucky he didn't destroy you. The real Superman is still on Argo. Now, what exactly happened to me in your universe?" Kara asked.
"She was beaten, stabbed through, and beheaded by the Justice League on Superman's orders. He then crushed your head with his boot. I saw it all," Marcus said traumatized.
"She must have been as weak to Superman as he is to me here," Kara said intrigued. "I'm sorry for our loss."
"Yeah," Marcus said sadly.
"How long were you two married?" Kara asked curiously.
"Several years. She was eighteen and I was in my mid-twenties. We were young and naive, but we had so much in common," Marcus recalled.
Kara felt an ache in her heat as she recalled her romance with the original Lex Luthor in Midvale. "I had the same tale, but you were taken from me in a science experiment that went wrong," Kara said tearfully. "The Lex Luthor that exists now is a clone of a clone."
"That's heavy," Marcus allowed.
"The Supergirl you know is gone just like the Lex I came to love is gone. I have a family now," Kara set him straight.
"I understand. It's enough that we be friends, partners," Marcus extended his hand to her.
"Sure," Kara said shaking his hand. "Finally, back to the good old days of the two of us working together to kill metahumans, explore caves, and uncover corruption in shady corporations. I don't think I want this to end."
"Right," Marcus said not sure if she was joking.
"Until our next adventure," Kara said and then walked off into the night.
Kara entered the house and noticed Kon and Mara glaring at each other. "What happened?" she demanded.
"Kon tried to punch a human, but I stopped him," Mara accused.
"Kon, what the fuck?" Kara asked him.
"I was drinking and not thinking clearly," Kon excused.
"That just makes it worse. Do you have any idea how inconvenient it is to cover up you killing some kid? You know, I went out of the way to kill metahumans that thought they were the shit. Now, I look like a huge hypocrite when my own son does the same thing," Kara said angrily. Kara turned to Mara. "Are you hurt?"
"No," Mara replied.
"And what about beating Kansas City 35-to-4? What did I tell you about beating human records and showing off?" Kara asked him.
"They were assholes. They needed the humiliation," Kon said defensively.
"There is a chain-of-command in this house. You do as I say whether you agree with it or not," Kara told him.
"Oh really? Where was the chain of command for the last few months? Perhaps, you should be relieved of command," Kon said insultingly.
Kara was about to murder that kid when Mon stepped in. "You'll do as she says," he ordered him.
Kon immediately backed down. "I have the same Insane blood that flows through your veins. When I was your age, I wanted to fight everything in sight. I still feel those urges. But if I go on a murdering rampage of this planet, I lose the trust of the people that can give me even greater fights. So, you can decide to beat up pathetically weak humans and lose our trust forever. Or, you can decide to follow our orders and get the fights you desire," Mon said to him.
"Alright," Kon relented.
"Go to bed. We'll talk about this later when I feel like it," Kara dismissed them both.
Once they were both gone, Kara changed the subject. "I know who the Stranger is," she said to Mon.
The next day, Kon hung out with Sara at the house. "Seeing Tag with powers, it was really scary. But I knew he would never hurt me."
"He only kidnapped you by force," Kon rolled his eyes.
"He was just really confused and really focused on you," Sara said.
"Like...in a sexual way?" Kon asked horrified.
"No, he showed me this video from the night of the bonfire. He had this theory that whatever happened, whatever gave him his powers had something to do with you," Sara said showing Kon the video from her phone.
Kon eyed the crude video that didn't show much other than the sudden explosion. "I don't know why he would say such a thing," he lied giving it back.
"You know, even if there was something, you could tell me, right?" Sara said hopefully.
"Sure, yeah, of course," Kon lied.
Later that day, Kon had a talk with Kara on the porch. "I read all of your adventures in Midvale, all the people you killed. What struck me is that you were able to keep it going for years without anyone noticing because you kept your powers a secret from everyone," Kon said.
"So, what have you concluded about that?" Kara asked.
"That if I keep my powers a secret and slowly reveal what I can do, I'll have more seasons to play," Kon said.
"Well, that's one way to look at it," Kara allowed.
"If Mara hadn't been as powerful as she is, I could have hurt her. I could have broken her bones and blasted apart her hand. What if it had been Sara that had intervened?" Kon asked slightly troubled.
"We would have repaired her hand and erased her memory of it," Kara said.
"Right but, for that moment of time, she would have been in agony and horror," Kon realized.
"Your father is waiting for you in the Arctic. When it's clear, get yourself over there," Kara ordered.
"Nice," Kon smiled.
"Don't melt the ice cap. It's not time yet for that," Kara warned.
"Sure," Kon said and then looked both ways before flying off.
In the Arctic, Mon eyed Kon approaching. Kon landed a distance away ready to have a good fight with his father. Here, in the Arctic, the two could let loose. "Play ball and we'll be here more often," Mon promised.
"Unless I kill you here and now," Kon challenged.
Mon smiled at Kon's aggressiveness and went Super Insane. Kon tensed up, his black hair spiked, and he unleashed his Super Insane power as well. The two of them glowed gold on the Arctic snow. Mara watched from a distance. Despite her aversion to fighting, the Insane in her wouldn't let her look away.
