Kara entered the DOD as Supergirl and interrogated Morgan Edge. He was inside a green-lighted cell to diminish his powers. "You were the last to have the eradicator. What did you do with it?" Kara demanded. "Where is it? Where is Leslie Larr?"
"How could I know? I can't see past these lead-lined walls. All that is here is what is in my mind?" Morgan said.
"That's bullshit. You're part of the Brainiac hive mind," Kara accused. "There's still hope for Leslie Larr if she cooperates."
Morgan chuckled at that. "Her fate was sealed long ago."
"Do you ever feel bad for what you've done? Like, do you ever look in the mirror and realize just how fucking crazy you've become?" Kara asked.
"That's rich coming from you, Kara. We both feel nothing for these people," Morgan said to her.
"You don't want to tell me where Leslie Larr is? Fine, be that way. I'll find her and bring her here. After that, I'm going to tear your brain apart until I find Brainiac's signal," Kara said and then left the room.
The Super-Insane family came together for breakfast. "I talked with General Lane. He said martial law will continue for the foreseeable future. Imagine that," Mon smiled amused.
"What about finding Leslie Larr?" Mara asked concernedly.
"Got nothing," Mon admitted.
"The mines are going to be shut down to keep anyone else from getting powers," Kara said.
"And we're supposed to go back to our normal lives like none of this ever happened?" Kon scoffed.
"This family is based on forgive and forget," Kara said simply.
"I'm not sure I can forget whatever you two were doing with John Henry Irons last night," Kon said knowingly.
Kara gave Kon an impatient look. "It's complicated. A version of myself was married to John on Earth-23. I decided after everything he had gone through, the love he had for his late wife, and his heroics that he should be compensated."
"It's still wrong," Mara said boldly.
"Your father consented to everything that happened," Kara excused.
"It doesn't matter. It's not up to him or you or John," Mara said.
"Well, okay then," Kara said shutting down the discussion on her sex life. "At school, there will be a mandatory assembly to answer questions that are not classified."
"Maybe we should stay home," Kon suggested.
"Yeah, nice try," Kara shut him down. "As far as everyone is concerned, Edge was experimenting on people and giving them powers through mind-control. I found out what he was up to and Superman stopped him. So, it is, so it shall be written."
"I don't know...that sounds like bullshit," Kon said argumentatively.
"Don't start with me. Keep to the script," Kara ordered.
Kon and Mara took off to go to school. Mon noticed Kara's phone go off several times. "What's that about?" he asked.
"It's Chrissy," Kara said and then put her phone on silent.
"You're not going to work?" Mon wondered.
"Our guest needs our attention," Kara said referring to John sleeping in the master bedroom.
At the school, the intercom announced a mandatory assembly meeting. "This sucks," Kon said immaturely to Mara.
"It's like the Salem Witch Trials around here," Sara remarked coming up to them.
"The Salem Witch Trials had the right idea, just poor execution," Mara replied.
A random girl rudely bumped into Sara and took off. "Want me to kick her ass?" Kon volunteered.
"I can't do this today," Sara declined.
"You don't even have to watch. I'll do it for free," Kon said.
Sara then took off in the other direction. "Hey, where are you going?" Mara called after her.
"Anywhere but here," she said and then walked off.
"What? She can't do that. Can she?" Kon asked shocked and appalled.
Mara decided to ditch the assembly and follow after Sara. Three football guys came up to Kon. "Is it true the father-in-law to your first cousin once removed runs the DOD?" they asked accusingly.
"Something like that," Kon smirked.
"Sounds like you have a "get out" free card," one of them said enviously.
"It sounds like it," Kon agreed.
"Okay, let's go to the gym," a random teacher told them all. "That means you, too, Mr. Kent," the teacher ordered.
Kara finally got herself down to the Smallville Gazette. "We need a big story, something that will make a big splash. Something like, the Edge of Humanity," Chrissy said.
"It's a jumping-off point," Kara said and then illustrated her point by dramatizing a toy car going off a cliff with appropriate sound effects.
"This is the biggest story of the year. The biggest story of my career. Superman first arriving in Metropolis big," Chrissy said enthusiastically.
"Low bar there," Kara rolled her eyes. "You know, I'm thinking we need eye-witness testimony, evidence, that sort of crap."
"How about the DOD?" Chrissy asked.
"General Lane doesn't do interviews. He's an asshole like that," Kara shot down. "He might give me a BS statement though."
"When?" Chrissy asked impatiently.
"I don't know," Kara said unconcernedly.
"People have been calling non-stop. They want to know what's really going on. They want verification," Chrissy said freaked out.
"Tell them to get fucked until our investigation has concluded," Kara said simply.
"If we just got a statement from the DOD, it would calm a lot of nerves," Chrissy pressed.
"I suppose," Kara said without enthusiasm.
In the barn, John was hard at work on his computer trying to track down Leslie Larr. "Home-cooked meal?" Mon asked friendly.
"It's too much," John said embarrassed.
"You saved me from killing my own kids, you saved the world from me, you can have anything you want," Mon said gratefully.
"That's the thing. You're too generous. I can't get any work done with you two constantly jumping me for sex," John said. "My body is at the breaking point. The spirit is willing but the body is fragile."
"Have you found Leslie?" Mon asked changing the subject.
"Not yet. Might get lucky with this," John said referring to his computer.
"With your skills, someone could use someone like you at the DEO. I could make some calls," Mon offered.
"Thank you but after I find Leslie, I'm going to move on. Make this planet my home," John said.
"After we sort all this out, you're going to lead an invasion expedition to Earth-23. We're going to beat the shit out of your Superman and Justice League, you're going to take the final shot," Mon told him.
"You serious?" John wondered.
"Enjoy the food," Mon smirked.
The computer then signaled an alert. Mon closed his eyes as he sensed for the power signature. "She's headed towards the DOD," John said tracking the fast-moving object.
Mon activated his Superman suit and put two fingers to his head. He was gone in an instant. "Prepare the suit," John said to his computer.
The DOD base was on high alert as Leslie moved towards them. Mon instantly appeared in the general area and searched for Leslie. "Do you have a lock on her?" Gen. Lane asked.
"Not yet," Mon admitted as he tried to sense Leslie's rather weak signature.
The alarms went off on the base as SAM systems and anti-aircraft guns came online. Leslie was spotted flying straight for them with the intent to free Morgan. Missiles and anti-aircraft guns fired at her as she got closer. Leslie dodged the fire and kept coming. Mon intercepted her right before she could crash into the base and took her away. The two exited super-sonic speed and crashed into the forest. On the ground, Leslie struggled against Mon by punching him in the face repeatedly and then activating her heat vision.
"You haven't won, Jin-Saiyan," she spat at him.
Steel suddenly arrived and blasted Leslie off of Mon. She fell to the ground unconscious. "Nice shot," Mon complimented.
"Thanks," John said giving him a fist bump.
At the DEO, Mon and John had a meeting with Gen. Lane in his office. "It's not over. We have loose ends to close up," Gen. Lane said.
"Like, where's my kid?" Mon agreed.
"But we have Edge and Larr," John said.
"The new threat is you and Supergirl," Gen. Lane said bluntly. "We're going to be building more Kryptonite weapons. We're going to need Supergirl's help to ensure they're actually lethal in test runs."
"You'll have her cooperation," Mon said confidently.
"As for you, we'll just have to work on penetrating ballistics that can sufficiently take you down when you're not powered up," Gen. Lane said.
"I don't know what to say, Sam. I'm touched," Mon said gratefully.
"You don't have to say anything. This isn't a gift for you, two, to know your limits. This is to ensure national security in case one of you goes rogue...again," Gen. Lane said.
"After what happened with me being under mind-controlled, it is a prudent precaution," Mon agreed.
"I want in on this," John said smiling.
Kon and Elisa went to her apartment in Smallville. She invited him to her bedroom that had pink walls, a pinkish blanket on a pink bed frame, and pink furniture. Her Violet Lantern battery was on a table glowing furiously as if detecting Kon's masculine negative energy. "So, shall we shag now or shag later," Kon smirked.
"These last few weeks, I've felt different about you. I can't stop thinking about you. When I think of other men, I feel nothing for them. You've bewitched me," Elisa admitted.
"I do have that effect on women, all women," Kon smiled.
"I feel like my world has been turned upside down," Elisa said confused.
Kon got close to her on the bed. "If you are with me, you can be with as many girls as you want," he promised.
"Something's bothering you," Elisa sensed.
Kon turned away from her. "I fought my father and lost."
"That's not too surprising. He's more experienced with greater power than you," Elisa shrugged.
"It's more than that. When he fought my sister, she put up greater resistance. I felt like maybe she had surpassed me when I saw her," Kon said.
"So, has she surpassed you?" Elisa asked delicately.
"No, well, it's different. She has a greater focus on her power and can channel it for longer periods of time. My technique is rapid-fire attacks," Kon said.
"So, you, two, are just different," Elisa said.
"When she fought my father, I held back for a moment. I felt jealous and my pride had been wounded. I couldn't stand the idea of her winning where I had failed. And, at that moment, I risked her life. She needed me and I wasn't there for that brief moment," Kon said.
"You were there for her in the end," Elisa brought up.
"It means I'm a little fucked up," Kon concluded.
"Come here, let me take your mind off all this stuff," Elisa said as she pulled Kon onto the bed and got on top of him.
"As you wish," Kon relented.
The two cuddled fully clothed on the bed. "This is nice," Elisa said enjoying his warmth and energy.
After a long awkward moment, Kon eyed Elisa. "You better want more than just this," he warned her.
Elisa chuckled at that. "Alright, alright," she said as she started taking her clothes off.
Meanwhile, Mara followed Sara to a random ranch. Sara bypassed the gate and continued on her way lost in thought. "This is breaking the rules. That's a bad thing," Mara said to her.
"You and your brother miss more days in school than any other," Sara pointed out.
"They were all excused absences," Mara said defensively.
"Thanks for coming out with me. I just know those assholes are talking about me and my parents," Sara said frustrated.
"It's not fair," Mara allowed.
"I don't think fair is a real thing. My mother is a public relations queen but my dad is kind of fucked up. Things like this usually send him off a cliff. I'm just waiting for that last nudge," Sara said morbidly.
"Perhaps, we should go to the movies to keep your mind off these distressing things," Mara suggested.
The two came upon a swamp with a bridge nearby. "I like it here...in nature," Sara said of their surroundings.
Kara went into Gen. Lane's office. "This is bullshit," Kara raged.
"I don't have time for this, Kara. We're not releasing an official statement. That's it," Gen. Lane told her off.
"But it's standard procedure," Kara protested.
"It's a courtesy," Gen. Lane corrected.
"But you always give a comment," Kara whined.
"Okay, no comment, you can print that," Gen. Lane said.
"You can't be serious. Don't be an ass," Kara said pissed off.
"We've said enough," Gen. Lane deflected.
"Enough to create a panic. People are worried. I'm not getting the credit I deserve," Kara said self-absorbed.
"A pamphlet is being made explaining the X-Kryptonite," Gen Lane said.
"Yeah, I saw it already. It's fiction," Kara said unimpressed.
"It will alleviate their concerns while scaring them to stay out of those mines," Gen. Lane said.
"This isn't right," Kara pouted.
"It's necessary," Gen. Lane said losing patience with her.
"This is my home now. These people are my neighbors," Kara said with false sincerity.
"What am I supposed to say? That Morgan Edge is under the control of a super-computer and was building an army to take over the world?" Gen. Lane asked.
"Yes," Kara nodded.
"Whatever happened to standing for the American Way?" Gen. Lane asked.
"What about it?" Kara asked wondering where he was going with this.
"You see these four stars. I am the American Way. I fought in wars, bled for this country, and served five times longer than your Supergirl stint. I've sacrificed a hell of a lot to get here. You have a lot to learn what constitutes the American Way," Gen. Lane told her.
"I spent seven years bringing the US Constitution and the American way of life to a ruined Earth a thousand years from now so let's not measure dick sizes," Kara shot back.
"I know this isn't what you want to hear, but you have to write your story with the bare minimum. Eventually, this town will be okay," Gen. Lane said.
"This town was never okay," Kara scoffed. "Not since Superman arrived."
"The last thing this town needs is for this to get out into the open. A statement from me will add legitimacy to the story," Gen. Lane concluded.
A disgruntled Kara as Supergirl entered the interrogation room once more. "One last time, where's the eradicator?" Kara demanded.
"I told you. It's no use to you," Morgan said from his cell.
"You don't want to tell me? Fine, but I have everything else including Leslie. She's locked up, same as you. She was stopped before she could break you out. I'm not sure what your plan was but it wasn't a good one," Kara chided.
"It's called loyalty. Something you know nothing about," Morgan shot back.
"I'm loyal to truth, justice, and the American Way," Kara told him off. "Not...always in that order."
Morgan laughed at her. "They fear you. They always will."
"As they should," Kara agreed.
"You should be a god," Morgan told her.
"I feel...I kinda am," Kara said arrogantly.
"No, you're a slave to them. Don't you ever wonder what you would have been if you hadn't landed here and been raised by simple humans?" Morgan asked.
"Literally every day," Kara mocked.
"You fight against your true nature every day. I know the power surging through you. I know the choice you make to hold yourself back because that is the only way we can walk amongst humans without killing them, isn't it?" Morgan asked rhetorically. "It's all about control but didn't it feel good to lose it."
"Sure," Kara allowed.
"So, you are just like me!" Morgan shouted at her.
"You think yourself so high and mighty. Compared to me, you're just a slightly stronger bug. If I really let loose, every living thing in this galaxy would perish. You say you have loyalty. Let's see how long you last when I feed Leslie's tortured screams into your cell. You will tell me what I want to know or I'll break your body, your mind, and then your spirit," Kara promised him.
Kara went back to the Smallville Gazette to give Chrissy the bad news. "General Lane has no comment," Kara said flatly.
"What? He can't do that. Is it because we're a small paper?" Chrissy asked outraged. "You always got a statement when you were at the Planet, even when you were at Catco."
"Chrissy, we can write whatever the hell we want. No one is going to contradict us. We have a monopoly on this town," Kara said unconcernedly.
"This doesn't make any sense. Is this story different somehow?" Chrissy asked trying to figure it out.
"I would say so. It involves weird-ass minerals in mines, a corporate shark turned alien, two dozen people turned into metahumans, and Superman being involved," Kara said obviously.
"Kara, what is he hiding?" Chrissy demanded.
"What does it matter, Chrissy?" Kara asked rolling her eyes.
"We can't lie. What you're doing is protecting the DOD. You're supposed to be on the side of the people, not the man," Chrissy lectured.
"If we piss off the DOD, we don't get any statements or information from them. It's just being practical," Kara excused.
"Kara, if you can't tell the truth, then maybe you should leave," Chrissy said.
"Yeah, except I own this paper and the bank that keeps it going, so...no," Kara told her off. "We're doing this my way."
DEO
Mon instantly appeared into the DEO and met with Brainiac 5. "Morgan isn't breaking," Mon reported to him.
"I know. I have been trying to decipher the connection between him and my father. I've never seen anything this complex before since...well...myself," Brainiac 5 said as he eyed random code on the screen.
"Yeah, well, what about my other question?" Mon brought up.
"The Jin-Saiyan and humans are compatible albeit with some difficulty. As with Jin-Saiyan females, the impregnated female human will feel a close bond with you," Brainiac 5 said.
"Enough to override their sexual orientation?" Mon asked.
"Yes," Brainiac 5 replied. "However, after the pregnancy has ended, their bond with you will end. Your plan to have Alex and Kelly your wives is doomed to failure."
"Maybe," Mon considered.
"Having Kara, Alex, and Kelly your wives will result in an unstable family dynamic," Brainiac 5 predicted.
"Are you saying it would be Insane to try?" Mon smiled.
Smallville
Kon and Elisa took to the air and discussed what they would do for the evening. "Movie, dinner, there's this cool place that will let you paint your own pottery," Elisa suggested.
"No, definitely not," Kon refused.
Elisa's ring then went off as it sensed an unusual energy signature. "Well, that settles that," she said as she went to investigate.
The two sped towards the forest and landed near the energy signature. "It's supposed to be close by," Elisa said as she scanned the forest. A sudden blur hit Elisa knocking her to the ground.
Kameron laughed amused. Her hair was golden and she was glowing. "You're coming with me," Kon said to her. Kameron frowned and then hit Kon hard across the forest. There were several explosions of dirt and wood before Kon settled on the ground dumbfounded.
Going Super Insane as well, Kon sped after Kameron and found her on a park playground trying to interact with the other kids. Kon grabbed Kameron in a tight grip to take her away. "It's okay. I'm just her brother," Kon said to the concerned parents as Kameron fought with his grip and screamed.
Kon sped Kameron away from the playground. Kameron tried to escape to the air but Kon caught her small legs and slammed her down to the ground. A pink bubble appeared around Kameron confining her. "Who is she?" Elisa asked.
"Kameron, my baby sister," Kon said. "Let's bring her home."
Mara and Sara hung out on a bridge overlooking a swamp. "How did you find this place?" Mara asked.
"I used to come here with my grandma. She used to tell me stories about the family. We were originally from Mexico, but we've been in Smallville for generations. You know, half the time, I wouldn't even know which stories are true," Sara said.
"I can relate," Mara said referring to her mother's tales.
"It was just a place for me to relate, to belong," Sara said.
"That's good. I don't feel I belong in this place, this time," Mara admitted. "You bring some needed normalcy to my life. So, you have me and that's never going away for as long as I remain here."
Sara impulsively kissed Mara. "That's enough, you two," a sheriff's deputy spotted them.
"Damn it," Sara realized.
DOD
Gen. Lane and Kara went over his Kryptonite inventory. Kara read through his files. "We got about a few dozen rifles and handguns, a few thousand Kryptonite bullets, and a substantial collection of knives, swords, spears," Gen. Lane said.
"And the biochemical grenades in R&D?" Kara asked.
"Maybe five or so in various stages of development," Gen. Lane said.
"And how much raw Kryptonite do you have in storage?" Kara continued.
"A couple of warehouses full," Gen. Lane said.
Kara sighed and closed the folder. "It's not enough, general," she said unimpressed.
"You overestimate yourself," Gen. Lane said confidently.
"I'm really not," Kara smirked. "You need more weapons, more creativity. I'm indestructible against conventional weapons. Should I turn on humanity, that will be the end."
Smallville
In the barn, John did a spray paint job of a bug on his armor. "Well done, John. An exact replica of the original design. I believe Natalie would be proud," his computer orb complimented.
"I don't recall asking you a God damn thing," John told the orb off.
"Now that your foes have been vanquished, what is your new mission?" the orb asked.
"Still working that out," John admitted.
"Perhaps, you should see your sister," the orb suggested.
"You're getting kind of pushy. I don't like it," John said pissed off.
"I'm programmed to anticipate your needs," the orb said defensively. "Optimal mental health requires interpersonal relationships."
"I think I've had too much of that already," John said referring to his threesomes with Kara and Mon.
Kon then casually entered the barn. "Hey, just got home. I heard voices...that were not in my head." John simply stared at the Insane Kryptonian hybrid. "So...you built this thing from scratch?
"Yeah," John confirmed.
"Impressive for a human," Kon said as he looked it over. "I could use something like that for my assassination missions."
"You know, you can be more than one thing," John told him.
"Say what?" Kon wondered.
"Kon, why aren't you at school?" Mon asked.
"I didn't want to...plus I brought Kameron back," Kon excused.
"Make sure your mom doesn't find out," Mon said and then walked off.
Inside the house, Mon got a call from Gen. Lane. "Kara is making too much sense and putting others before herself in a very responsible sacrificial way. It scares me," he told him.
"I'll look into it, general," Mon promised and then hung up. He then turned to Kon. "Report."
"So, I'm going strong with this Elisa chick. At first, I thought she was out of my league because she's older, very attractive, and gay. But it turns out, I'm a winner," Kon said pleased with himself.
"Nice," Mon smiled.
Kara sped into the house. "We need to talk," she said seriously to Mon. She then noticed Kon at the dinner table not in school. "And what the fuck are you doing here? You should be at school."
"School is no place for the Insane," Kon replied.
"Go upstairs. I'll deal with you later," Kara ordered him.
Kon sighed and went upstairs even though he could hear everything they were saying with his super-hearing anyway. "Mara got herself arrested," Kara revealed.
"Was it murder?" Mon asked hopefully.
"No, it was truancy and trespassing," Kara said.
Mon simply stared at her. "Well...Kameron is back."
Kara eyed Kameron walking around in her forcefield once more being obnoxious in the living room. "I see that. How did that happen?"
"Kon and his girlfriend found her," Mon said.
"Elisa? That girl's stock is rising with me," Kara said impressed. "You stay with Kon while I bail our daughter out of jail."
At the sheriff's department, Sara and Mara were bailed out of jail. Lana and Kara arrived at the same time. "I can't believe you guys," Lana said disappointedly.
"I can explain," Sara said lamely.
"I'm sorry," Mara said apologetically.
"You two must be Sara and Mara's mom," a sheriff's deputy identified them.
"What's going on?" Lana asked.
"They were caught trespassing at Atlas pond," the sheriff's deputy replied.
"Are you kidding me? I would go over there all the time with Clark when we were teens," Lana recalled.
"I don't know what to tell you. It's private property," the sheriff's deputy said flatly.
"A trespassing charge requires that these kids knew they were trespassing on private property when they did. I find that highly unlikely. Also, you can't be enforcing trespassing violations unless the owner of said property files a complaint. So, I want the snitch's name and a copy of the complaint," Kara demanded.
"Well...shit," the sheriff's deputy realized.
"There isn't a complaint, is there?" Kara realized. "Do you know who I am? I'm someone you don't fuck with. You fuck with my kid, you fuck with me," Kara said stunning the sheriff's deputy into silence.
"Mara, let's go," Kara ordered.
Kara then eyed the mayor who was talking mad-shit about Kyle to a sheriff's deputy. "Oh, shit," Mayor Dean realized as Kara came up to him.
"You're reinstating Kyle as fire chief immediately," Kara ordered.
"Kyle was your greatest opponent when it came to Edge," Mayor Dean said confused.
"Yeah, I don't give a shit. His heart was in the right place. With Edge gone, I own this town. I own your ass," Kara said to him.
"Fine, shit," Mayor Dean said stunned.
Kara entered the house with Mara. "Go upstairs, we'll talk later," she ordered her. Kara then entered the dining room. "I set them straight," Kara said.
"I have something to say," Mon said seriously.
Kara sat down across from him. "Spill it."
"When I was under Brainiac's control, I felt lost in my own mind. Ever since I arrived on this planet, I've fought to control my instincts to conquer and subjugate this world. But when Brainiac took over, I let go and it felt good," Mon said.
"Yeah, I get it," Kara rolled her eyes.
"You don't understand. I felt really good, like really really good even when I was fighting Mara, Kon, and all of your so-called friends. If I lose control again, who knows what I would be capable of. Unlike you, I have no weaknesses. I can instantly go anywhere I want. I could fire into the core of this planet before you're even aware of it," Mon said seriously.
"I'm your fail-safe," Kara said obviously.
"But you weren't there," Mon pointed out. "The kids are too weak, your friends are too weak."
"We won't be in this time for very much longer. When we get back to the 31st century, the Vindicator Corp. will be more than enough to kill you," Kara said to him. "Or we find someone in this galaxy that can."
Kara entered the Smallville Gazette and found Chrissy working. "I wasn't expecting to see you," she said annoyed.
"You're right. I lied. The military is hiding something. The conspiracy theorists are right," Kara said.
"This story is bigger than you," Chrissy said to her.
"I'm not so sure about that," Kara said arrogantly.
"We have a responsibility to the people. This town is falling apart," Chrissy said resentfully.
"Believe me, I know. I've been able to buy up nearly the whole town as property values have plummeted," Kara smirked.
"Do you ever wonder whether you might be the bad guy?" Chrissy asked sarcastically.
"I've decided to write this story how I want it to be told," Kara said.
Chrissy went over to her and saw the statement from the DOD. "This is BS, right?" Chrissy asked.
"This is going to focus the blame where it belongs, on Morgan Edge," Kara said wide-eyed.
"This is really fucked up, this whole thing with you and Edge," Chrissy remarked.
"I know," Kara nodded.
That night, the Super-Insane family had a meeting in the living room. "You two can't just skip school. You have to be an example to others," Kara told them.
Kon rolled his eyes. "I saved Kameron. I should get a gold star."
"You do. You're excused," Kara said dismissing him away.
Kon got up and went back to his room like a boss. "Mara, what's wrong with you?" Kara asked sensing she was off.
"I went with Sara to the pond to make her feel better. She would have gone alone if I hadn't been with her. She said some things and then she kissed me," Mara said dismayed.
"It doesn't mean anything," Kara assured her.
"Everyone I've tried to mentor has ended up being corrupted by my presence," Mara said subdued.
"Mara, you're beautiful, smart, and strong. Everyone is going to be attracted by you, especially these Smallville hicks," Kara said.
"I just don't want to follow down your path," Mara said bluntly.
"Oh, shit," Mon said amused.
Kara gave Mara a dumbfounded look. "When I was your age, I did some fucked-up things. You've read my diary, obviously. But it wasn't all bad. Avoid my mistakes but appreciate the good I did for Midvale."
"I will," Mara assured her. "But I will not lead Sara down a path that will lead to her ruin."
"Then, set her straight now and hard," Kara advised. "Have no mercy."
Mara simply nodded. "Go to bed," Kara ordered her away.
Kara then turned to Mon. "Where's John?"
"He already left," Mon shrugged.
"Let's track him down," Kara smiled.
The next day, Kon awoke to find Elisa asleep in his bed naked under the sheets. "What are you doing?" Elisa asked as she woke up.
"I woke up only a few minutes before you. I was just watching you sleep," Kon admitted while wearing boxer shorts.
"You, weirdo," Elisa said playfully hitting him with a pillow.
"Weirdo, huh? You rethinking this whole thing?" Kon asked as embraced her.
"Not even a little bit, Kon-El. I love you. I wish you could move in with me," Elisa said sincerely.
"What's wrong with this place?" Kon asked.
"This isn't cool. Your parents probably heard us," Elisa said embarrassed.
"I doubt that. They're off tracking down John Henry Irons to have a threesome with," Kon said knowingly.
"The fuck?" Elisa thought she misheard.
"Look, I don't want to have to fly to some shithole in Africa every time I want to have sex with you," Kon said.
"So, it's decided. You're moving in with me," Elisa said reasonably.
"Well...," Kon said uncertainly.
"What's your problem?" Elisa asked offended.
"I want to be king of my own castle," Kon said.
"With what money?" Elisa wondered.
"I'll acquire it," Kon said vaguely.
There was a knock on the door. "Kon, the phone is for you," Mara said through the door.
"Crap! She'll totally tell your mom," Elisa said alarmed as she quickly got her clothes on.
"With her X-ray vision, she already knows," Kon sighed.
The door was kicked open. Mara eyed Elisa condescendingly. "What are you doing here?"
"Just leave," Kon told her off.
"I will not suffer this debauchery in my house," Mara said to them both.
"You can't beat both of us," Kon said confidently.
"I don't need to beat both of you, I only need to beat one," Mara said darkly.
There was an awkward tense atmosphere in the room as Elisa was on the verge of summoning her ring. "You're just overcompensating for Sara kissing you," Kon mocked.
Elisa gave Mara a surprised look. "Maybe I am," Mara replied.
"Isn't this what you've wanted all along?" Elisa asked Mara.
"The standard is the same for everyone," Mara said.
"And is what are father and mother doing the standard?" Kon questioned.
"When I surpass them, I will put them in their place as with this world, this galaxy," Mara said ambitiously.
The two flashed Super Insane at the same time neither backing off. "Okay, wait, I'll leave," Elisa said breaking the tension between them.
Kon and Mara eyed Elisa as she summoned her ring and went out the window. "I'll call you," she said to Kon and then took off.
As Elisa flew off, Kara spotted her pink energy trail from outside. Grateful for helping find Kameron, Kara didn't make a move against her.
Fort Riley
At the DOD, Scott Duval was a lab scientist working on a project to channel body heat into kinetic energy to create a super-human. "Well, Scott, get ready. I'm sure if you're not next, you will be soon," his lab partner said.
"What are you on about?" Scott asked.
"Some of the bodysuits have disappeared," his partner said nonchalantly.
"Really?" Scott asked pretending to be shocked.
"Yeah, expect to be chewed out. General Lane is intimidating everyone and being a jackass. Don't worry, though. There are only a dozen of us with access to the things. This will be over soon," his partner said. "It's only a matter of time before they find out who is stealing the things."
Scott gave a spooked look realizing he was short on time.
Metropolis
Kara and Mon entered Kelly's shrink room fashionably late. Alex was already there waiting. "Long time no see, Alex," Mon smirked at her.
"I remember fondly how I encouraged your daughter to kill your ass," Alex said giving him a fake smile in return.
Mon gave her a mock bite amused by her feistiness. "On that note, shall we sit down together," Kelly suggested.
"Yes, let's end the hostile tone," Kara eyed Alex.
"What is this all about?" Alex demanded.
"Mon has something he wishes to share," Kelly invited.
"I think the four of us should be married in a polygamous union," Mon said.
"Fuck no," Alex said immediately.
"Let's hear him out," Kelly said gently.
"I can provide you either of you children, protection, and a masculine presence in your life," Mon pitched.
"And are you okay with this, Kara?" Kelly asked.
"I'm warming up to it," Kara admitted.
"Well, I'm not. There's no way in hell I'm having Mon's kid. It was a no when your mother held me prisoner and it's a no now," Alex refused.
"You say that now, Alex. Once you're pregnant, you'll bond to me immediately," Mon said knowingly.
"How can you be so sure?" Kelly asked curiously.
"It's Jin-Saiyan biology," Mon confirmed.
"That makes the males of your race even bigger assholes for leaving their pregnant wives behind on deployments of conquest," Alex pointed out.
"I would give you plenty of attention if you agreed to this," Mon promised her. "Our child would be a human/Insane hybrid. You wouldn't have to worry about disease, injury, or birth defects."
"Mon, even if I was straight, you would be the last man I would want to have a child with. I was extremely disappointed with Kara when she even considered being in a relationship with you. While you two were busy trying to break me up with Maggie, I should have been working to break you two up," Alex said.
"And who should I have been with?" Kara rolled her eyes.
"I don't know. Someone like Winn who was stable, nice, and adored you. Instead, you chose a man that treats you like property," Alex said scornfully.
"I was never going to be with Winn," Kara scoffed.
"Then, you should have made it work with Lex Luthor. Maybe if you had protected him better, he wouldn't have died and been impersonated by his clone," Alex said.
Kara and Alex immediately got up and glared at each other ready to fight each other. "Okay...let's cool it," Kelly said feeling the tension in the room.
"Nice burn, Alex," Kara admitted and then sat down.
"I meant every word of it," Alex said sitting back down.
"Let's not talk about the past but the future," Kelly said helpfully.
"The future is not good. Since Alex broke up with Maggie, she's failed repeatedly to acquire a child or even get married. She requires an intervention," Mon said simply.
"Not from you," Alex said to him.
"Then whom?" Mon asked.
"A human sperm donor. I want to have a completely human baby," Alex insisted.
"You're going to get a random sperm donor? How does that make any sense? You're going to leave half of your kid's genetics to an unknown chance. Who knows what bloodline you're passing down," Kara mocked.
"Do you have someone in mind?" Kelly asked.
"Yeah, James," Kara said obviously.
The room was silent for an awkward moment. "James is an immature dare-devil sex addict," Alex said finally.
"That's true," Kelly confirmed.
"You guys talking shit about me?" James asked as he entered the room.
"James," Kara said getting up and giving him a hug. Mon gave him a fist bump. Lena then awkwardly entered the room. "Hi, guys," she said cheerfully. Brainiac 5 also entered the room after them.
"Oh my God, does everyone need to be here for this?" Alex asked embarrassed.
Fort Riley
Not too far from the base, Scott went home to his family. "They know about the equipment I stole from work. I don't want to go to jail before I bring him down," Scott said to his wife, Becky.
"After all this time, after all this work, I want you to see you take down Superman. I would hate to miss it," Becky said. "They know you stole the suit?"
"Well, they know someone did but it won't take long for them to pinpoint me. I just needed more. I was able to alter the suit to help me control my energy absorption powers but it wasn't enough. Everything I absorbed kept leaking out, just slower than before. But now, I can store up stronger blasts. I'm much more effective. Now, I worry I fucked it up," Scott said anxiously.
"No, don't think like that. You're doing what has to be done," Becky said as she held her toddler son.
"Don't be sad, daddy," the toddler said while playing with his toy car.
"I can't help it. I think of Jessica and letting her down...," Scott trailed off referring to his dead sister that had been killed in the Battle of Metropolis. He then turned to his young son. "It's okay, Jack. Daddy's fine. I'm not sad. Come here," he said taking the boy into his arms.
Scott then took Jack to the living room and played with cars with him. "It's just...I miss her so much. I remember it like it was yesterday. I had just talked to her the day before. I was making fun of her for dating that musician. And then Superman and Doomsday had their fight, leveled the building she worked in," Scott said tearfully.
"Nobody knows where Doomsday's body went? They still have no idea? That's a lie! They still haven't found what was left of my sister!" Scott raged.
"Daddy?" Jack asked confused.
"I know Scott. I'm angry, too, but you're scaring Jack," Becky said gently.
"I'm going to focus on this. I can't have this hanging over my head anymore. I'm going to find Superman no matter what it takes," Scott promised.
Metropolis
Alex and Kelly walked together after their shrink sessions turned into a shouting match where everyone ended up leaving pissed off. "That was a shit-show," Alex remarked.
"We got to hear what our friends and family think," Kelly said optimistically.
"The truth is, the whole idea of pregnancy scares me. It scares me more than getting shot or breaking my leg. It's nine long months of being careful how I eat, how I feel, how I move around. The last three months I won't even be able to work out," Alex said.
"Is there something else?" Kelly pried.
"And...I would have to stop drinking," Alex added.
There was a long silence between them. "Maybe I should be the one to carry the child," Kelly suggested.
"I couldn't let you do that. You're a professional and I don't have a brother. Kara is right. We can't have it be some random guy I've never met," Alex shook her head.
"Then, we adopt," Kelly said simply.
"Or...maybe I need to stop being so fucked up," Alex said as she felt a craving for a drink.
"Your friends have the technology to fix anything. Let them in," Kelly advised.
Alex nodded. "We agreed that we won't be a part of Mon's harem?"
"Agreed," Kelly smiled and then gave Alex a kiss. "Just us."
Fort Riley
Scott considered his master plan in the bedroom. "I think I got it. No, it's crazy."
"What? Tell me," Becky insisted.
"I would make me look like a villain. I'd be misunderstood at first. It would take a long time before people realized the good I'd done. This would be the only way," Scott said cryptically.
"Tell me. I don't care what it takes. I want you to do it. If you need me to help you, let me help you. That monster killed your sister. We've come this far to stop now. Now, let's do this together. Let's do whatever it takes to kill Superman," Becky said to him.
"Okay...but it would involve Jack as well," Scott said thoughtfully.
Smallville
Kon eyed the news as breaking news came in. "A Scott Duval has kidnapped his wife and son and is threatening to kill them if his demands are not met. I believe I speak for everyone here at the station when I say this is fucked up," the reporter said of the scene. The reporters and police had surrounded a weapon's lab just outside Fort Riley's base.
Mara then eyed the news as well. "What do you think?" Kon asked her.
"I'll call mother," Mara said and then made the call.
Kara ignored her phone as she was having a dinner party with Mon, James, and Lena. "They're not answering," Mara said.
"I'll deal with it," Kon said putting his Superman t-shirt on, his black leather jacket, and sunglasses.
"This is a sensitive situation," Mara said.
"The hostage-taker demands he talk to Superman," the news anchorman said.
"You hear that? He wants a Superman," Kon smirked and took off.
Fort Riley
"Are you comfortable?" Scott asked his wife who was tied up with their son, Jack. He was in a red and black suit that amplified his already existing metahuman power.
"We're fine. Don't worry about us," Becky assured him.
The ceiling was torn open as Kon entered the warehouse. "What the fuck, dude?" Kon asked him.
"You're not Superman," Scott realized.
"Well...no shit," Kon agreed. "I'm his son...sort of."
"Do you know who Jessica Duval is?" Scott demanded of him.
"No," Kon said flatly. "Should I?"
"She was an office assistant at an advertising agency. She was working to pay her way through college. Your father and Doomsday tore through her building. I'll never know how terrified she was in those final moments as the building collapsed around her," Scott raged.
Kon's smug face fell. "Okay...let's not make this worse."
"I'll make Superman sorry by killing his son! I'll make sure of it! You people think you're above the law. You think your actions don't have consequences. You are wrong! You will pay!" Scott said as he unleashed electrical energy on Kon using his suit.
Kon was on him in a flash and took control of his right arm. "Stop this. I'm sorry for your loss but I'm not going to let you kill me."
"I'm Powerplex. I don't need you to let me do shit," Scott said as he blasted Kon back with his power.
Kon suddenly rushed Scott with a series of punches to the head and gut. Scott was now on the ground but even more energized than before. "What the?" Kon wondered.
"The suit absorbs all forms of energy, even kinetic energy from your punches," Scott grinned. He then blasted Kon to the floor. Looking at Becky and Jack tied up, Kon crawled over to them.
"Okay, fuck this. Lady, I'm getting you out of here," Kon said as he worked to untie them.
Becky resisted him and spat in his face. "What the fuck?" Kon wondered and then realized the entire family was in the conspiracy.
Scott kicked Kon away. "Get your hands away from her. Don't touch her." Scott punched Kon hard and fired electricity into him. "The people fear you. You know that? It might not be obvious but the people are scared of you. We're all waiting for you to reveal your true intentions, dreading the moment you take over, and kill us all."
Scott subdued Kon and placed him on his knees. He then continued to shock Kon continuously. "But they won't have to worry about that. I'll protect them from you. I'll make sure you never hurt anyone again. Die, freak! For everything your family has done, for all the pain your family has caused. Die!"
Kon felt intense pain as his muscles contracted violent, the water in his body began to boil away, and his skin burned. Through it all, he reflected on all those he had killed and hurt during his short life. He was a killer, an assassin, a boy that had managed to topple galactic empires by throwing them into chaos. As he felt the greatest pain of his life, he contemplated that maybe Scott might be right.
The electricity went through Kon and into the metal floor. To everyone's horror, the electricity instantly fried Becky and Jack. Their bodies shook uncontrollably, their eyes imploded, their mouths were twisted in pain, and their skin was burned red. "No," Scott said stunned, and then went over to their bodies.
"Becky, Jack? I didn't...the current...I didn't think it would travel across the floor. I...," he said in a state of denial. "No, no, no!" he screamed in grief.
"Oh, God," Kon said as he got up and saw the remains.
"Oh, God, they're dead. They're...dead," Scott said mournfully as he went to his knees in front of his dead family.
Kon walked up to Scott still smarting from being shocked that hard. He contemplated what he was going to do as the police would eventually move in. He eyed the corpses and imagined them as Mara and Kameron. "Are you sorry?" Kon asked softly.
"Yes," Scott sobbed.
"Do you believe you can be forgiven?" Kon continued.
"Yes...I think so," he said wiping away his tears.
"I'll have the names of your family added to the memorial next to your sister," Kon promised.
Scott nodded. Kon quickly snapped his neck killing him. Kon walked away from the dead family dumbfounded and then flew off back home.
Metropolis
Kara eventually picked up her phone. "What?" she shouted obnoxiously in the crowded restaurant.
"It's Kon. He's in terrible pain," Mara said vaguely.
Kara gave Mon a look. "Alright, we'll be right there."
Kara and Mon instantly appeared inside the house. Kara went upstairs and found Kon brooding upstairs. "What's so important you had to interrupt my dinner party? I thought you were invincible."
"I was in a battle and I killed them...the mother, the child, and then the father," Kon said vaguely.
"What the fuck are you talking about?" Kara asked impatiently.
"I fought a man that used his family as a lure to bring me in...and now they're all dead," Kon said hauntedly.
Kara glanced at her cell phone and saw the partial news report coming out of Fort Riley. "Holy shit," she muttered. She then sat on the bed next to him. "Kon, I've had my fair share of battles where innocents were killed. Not a day goes by that I don't have regrets over people that were killed either by my hand or someone else. The only thing that keeps me sane is the belief that there's a life after this one where we all laugh and mock each other for how stupid our deaths were."
Kon simply stared at his mother as she began to tear up. "I took too long to destroy Doomsday. I...didn't give a shit and as a result, Kal-El was killed along with so many others. This family's deaths are on me, all of them," Kara said seriously.
Kon simply nodded. "For the longest time, I thought you would end up a cold-blooded sociopath. Now, I see that you have a heart that beats. It's a good thing, Kon. It will make you a better hero," Kara told him.
"From now on...I'm not going to toy with villains. I'm going to take them out quickly so this never happens again," Kon promised.
"Alright. I don't expect you to be able to sleep after this fuck-up," Kara said and then snapped her fingers knocking him out. She then placed him under the covers and kissed him goodnight.
DOD
General Lane was briefed on the situation with Scott Duval. "Has the suit been recovered?" he asked.
"Yes, Sir. By the way, something weird is going on in Morgan's cell," a Lt. informed him.
"Oh, really? How long ago?" Gen. Lane asked alarmed.
"A few minutes, Sir," the Lt replied.
"Send in a team to check it out," Gen. Lane ordered.
A squad of army guys entered the room and noticed Morgan in a prone state. The army guys cautiously moved closer to Morgan's cell. "His vitals?" Gen. Lane asked.
"They're gone, Sir," the Lt. informed him. "We're not registering anything."
"Well...shit," Gen. Lane sighed.
Morgan suddenly awoke with blue glowing eyes. "Maximize the shit out of that Kryptonite field," Gen. Lane barked.
The room became more intense with green light. Morgan glowed blue and then unleashed an energy discharge that blasted the cell apart and throwing the army squad up against the walls. Morgan then dramatically hovered above the floor and then ripped through the ceiling. Gen. Lane signaled for help with his radio.
Mon instantly appeared as Superman inside the DOD. "Edge," Gen. Lane said to him. Mon then took to the air and sensed Morgan's energy signature on the planet, finding nothing. Mon then instantly appeared inside the DOD.
"He's not on the planet," Mon reported.
"Then, where did he go?" Gen. Lane wondered.
Morgan went close to the sun to give himself a needed power boost. He had become the Eradicator.
