"With Edge still out there, it's not safe," Kara said cock-blocking her son.
"How is going to Sara's house any different than going to school?" Mara pointed out.
"Will her parents be home?" Kara asked knowingly.
"Sure," Mara lied.
"That sounds like bullshit," Kara doubted.
"I'm just asking because you seem to be getting serious with this girl," Kara said smartly.
"Mother, please, do we have to go over this again?" Mara rolled his eyes. "I'm going over there just to set her straight.
"I just want you to be making responsible choices for yourself," Kara said condescendingly. "Do you need me to come with you?"
"I got it handled," Mara said secretly horrified by the notion.
"I, for one, am getting hammered with John Henry," Kon grinned.
"You've been spending a lot of time with John Henry. He's mine, not yours," Kara said jealously.
"He's a genius and I could learn a lot from him," Kon said defensively.
"Some of his technology could prove useful for Kon's missions," Mon pointed out.
"Maybe instead of being a political assassin...I might want to be an engineer someday," Kon said thoughtfully.
"You're making too much sense. Get out of here. You're dismissed," Mon said to Kon and Mara.
"I need you to go to the store and get me some lightbulbs. Is that something you can do?" Kara asked condescendingly.
"I would if the hardware store didn't go out of business," Mon said.
"What the fuck? When did that happen?" Kara asked dismayed. "I'll just have to buy it out and make it mine."
"Yeah, you go do that," Mon said unconcernedly.
Kara then sensed General Lane being pissed off again down the street. "Well, it looks like General Lane is upset again. We better check it out."
Mon and Kara went over to General Lane's tent in the city square. "DOD holds Smallville hostage? Did you know about this?" Gen. Lane asked outraged slapping the paper down on the table.
"I'm not apologizing," Kara refused.
"Why didn't you kill this story?" Gen. Lane asked pissed off.
"It has something to do with quarterly profits," Kara smirked.
"You're attacking the men and women that are here to protect this town," Gen. Lane raged. "You called us an occupying force!"
"That is a little hyperbolic," Mon agreed.
"Well, shit, general. You've been here for a month. When are you going to leave and go home?" Kara asked.
"When I think it's safe," Gen. Lane said stubbornly.
"So...never?" Kara guessed.
"But I can't say that because it will cause a panic if people know Morgan Edge is still out there," Gen. Lane said.
"What if he never comes back? You just going stay here indefinitely, civil liberties, be damned?" Kara asked.
"I even agreed to speak at city hall today to calm people's nerves," Gen. Lane said freaking out. "Now, it's going to be damn near impossible."
"I don't know. I'd be skeptical too if an army general sacked my town and told me what I could and couldn't do," Kara rolled her eyes.
"You want me to tell the people who you really are, how you're responsible for half of this mess, and what you've been up to in this town?" Gen. Lane asked.
"Go for it. I don't give a shit if you do and no one can stop me anyway," Kara said arrogantly.
"I'm trying to protect the world and my family. And, like it or not, you're...sort of my family as my son-in-law's cousin," Gen. Lane said.
"You're trying too hard," Kara mocked.
"No matter what I do, I never seem to get it right with you," Gen. Lane said frustrated.
"You've been a vast improvement from the time you forced me to fight your robot, tortured my aunt, sacked the DEO, concealed the location of Fort Rozz, and conspired with Maxwell Lord to put me in check. So, keep it up," Kara mocked.
Gen. Lane exited the tent in a huff.
Mara came by Sara's house and had a chat with her in the backyard. "So, I guess my dad is getting his job back and we're staying," Sara said.
"That's great," Mara said with false sincerity.
"I'm sorry about what happened the other day. I don't know what came over me. I've just been really stressed out over stuff," Sara said apologetically.
"I have that effect over people. A natural charisma," Mara said.
"You're the most anti-social person I've ever met," Sara noted.
"And yet, I always manage to be the center of attention," Mara noticed. "As a leader, I need to learn to distance myself from my followers."
"Like Twitter followers?" Sara asked confused.
Mara sighed unable to tell Sara the real truth. "Yeah, sure."
"You take yourself way too seriously," Sara smiled amused. "I'm sorry if I fucked up our friendship. I just feel really confused about how I feel about you, your brother, my sister, and my parents."
"Get yourself a code. Then, when things get weird or tough, you can always fall back on it," Mara advised.
In the barn, Kon examined John's gear. "So, how many volts is that?" Kon asked.
"More than you can handle," John said dangerously.
"Yeah, right, I just got hit with a ridiculous amount of voltage the other day and...," Kon said and trailed off.
"You okay?" John asked concernedly.
"Yeah, it's just this guy tried to kill me and he ended up killing his whole family instead," Kon said reflectively.
"I heard about that. That was fucked up. It reminded me of my own fucked-up life," John said. "Sometimes, I wish Superman had snapped my neck, too, so I wouldn't have to deal with the pain."
"You think I shouldn't have killed him?" Kon asked.
John sighed. "He was a dead man either way."
There was a long awkward silence between them. "So, what new modifications are you making?" Kon asked.
"I want to make it a surprise," John said darkly.
"So, what's up with the bug?" Kon asked pointing it out.
"It was my daughter's design. She helped me build the suit," John said.
"That's awesome!" Kon said impressed.
"It's not awesome. She was fourteen years old and her mother had just been killed on live TV. Her whole childhood was stolen in an instant. She spent the last few months of her life in a bunker," John scolded him.
"I'm sorry. I know. For what it's worth, I never had a childhood. I'm actually seven, imagine that," Kon said.
John gave Kon an odd look. "The fuck?"
"Yeah, accelerated growth makes me appear 18," Kon explained.
"You should be outside playing football, not war games," John said.
"In the Galactic Federation of the future, I'm a special agent. I could have had a higher rank, but I'm not into that paperwork bullshit. I go out and kill fools all across the galaxy. You see, instead of waging wars and decades-long occupations, my mother just sends out assassins to kill bad guy leaders of planets. Some planets just didn't learn and so people like me have to keep coming back to take out their leaders until they get it right. I've lost count how many I've disappeared," Kon said.
"You scare the fuck out of me," John said honestly.
"I have that effect on people," Kon grinned.
"Well, I need to work on this alone," John told him off.
"Hey, message received," Kon said walking off.
Kara entered the Smallville Gazette and noted Chrissy reading the paper. "I just got chewed out by General Lane. It's alright, though. I've been chewed out before. But I did the right thing pointing out the DOD's occupation of this town," Kara said, proud of herself.
"You sure took your time to do it," Chrissy said unimpressed.
"There's going to be a town hall meeting. So, go there and ask the hard questions," Kara ordered.
"Well, this is awkward. I just got a job offer in Kansas City. I don't have a choice. I'm broke. Our subscriber base is getting tinier. This town is literally disappearing," Chrissy said.
"Give me time to fix it," Kara said to her.
"If I don't take this offer, I'll be underwater in a month," Chrissy said.
"So, you're saying I have a month to fix this town?" Kara asked.
"I'm saying the decision has already been made," Chrissy told her.
Mon and Kara strolled into the Smallville High gymnasium to hear General Lane BS his justification of the military occupation. The gym was crowded with pissed-off townspeople with signs. "You hear that? It's the sound of freedom," Kara said closing her eyes as she basked in it.
"You're the only dictator I know that actually enjoys having people protest against you," Mon noted referring to her role as Empress of the Galactic Federation.
"Please, calm down," Mayor Dean said to them. "Take your seats so we can get started."
Kara and Mon walked over to Gen. Lane. "You see the hornet's nest you've created with your paper?" he scolded.
"I'm seeing it and it's beautiful," Kara said shedding a tear.
"You need to unfuck this," Gen. Lane said to her.
"Fine, whatever," Kara said taking a seat at the table before the crowd.
"Alright, call to order," Mayor Dean said to everyone. "General Lane is here to discuss the continued military occupation of our town."
"Thank you, Mayor Dean," Gen. Lane said and was immediately interrupted.
"When are your soldiers going to leave our town!" one woman shouted out of turn.
"Holy shit," Gen. Lane said startled as the crowd clapped. "I promise you, the DOD is working as fast as we can. Once all hazardous materials have been removed in the mines, you can expect a drop in troop members."
"Those troops are scaring away the business here on main street," one black man said. "Why can't they all be stationed at the mines?"
"Actually, the only thing keeping this town afloat at the moment is the troops that are buying your stuff," Gen. Lane said annoyed.
"What's so dangerous about those mines?" one woman demanded.
"There is a rare substance in the mines that is radioactive as fuck. Now, if we leave before the mess is cleaned up, this town will basically be Chernobyl," Gen. Lane told her.
"More like you're taking all of this town's gold, silver, platinum, and ore to make yourselves a lot of money," one woman said.
"The army doesn't profit. We're spending millions every day just to be here. We're merely acting in the public's best interest," Gen. Lane said defensively.
"Can you tell us where Morgan Edge is right now?" Chrissy asked assertively.
"He's probably in close orbit with the sun to increase his power, but we can't pinpoint his exact position," Gen. Lane answered. "He broke out of our facility but since then the DOD, Superman, Supergirl, and the rest of our available heroes have been working diligently to find him."
"Should we be worried he'll come back here?" Chrissy asked.
"Yeah, sure," Gen. Lane said nonchalantly. "So, if I were you, I'd stop bitching about our military occupation because it may be the only thing that keeps you safe."
"That man is a liar," Sharon Powell said marching towards the table.
"Is that Derek Powell's mom?" Gen. Lane asked Kara.
"Yep," Kara replied.
"I have a letter from the DOD signed by this man that my son's death is under investigation," she said angrily.
"That's true," Gen. Lane allowed.
"He was killed by Morgan Edge and he said nothing to me about it. This was months ago," Sharon accused.
"I realize how difficult this must be," Kara said with false sincerity.
"Don't start with me. You have no idea what's it like to lose a child, the guilt a mother feels wondering if she could have done something differently. Please, tell me what Morgan Edge did to my son. I need to know the truth," Sharon begged.
"Morgan Edge recruited members of this town because you have been exposed to radiation for the last couple of decades. That's why he came here with his pitch. It wasn't because you were special or because this town had natural resources. It was because of the radioactive material in the mines and your exposure to it. And he used that radioactive substance to brainwash and give some of you powers, so he could build an army. Your son was a victim of this plot. He died when his body couldn't handle the power," Kara revealed.
"And where is his body?" Sharon asked tearfully.
"It was vaporized. I'm so sorry," Kara said sincerely. "Until we find Morgan Edge and secure the mines, you're all in danger of imminent death. So, you can either tolerate this inconvenient military occupation, you can leave, or you can...die."
"And how long have you known about this?" one man asked outraged.
"Just...now," Kara lied.
"That sounds like bullshit," another man shouted. "You've been buying up our banks, businesses, and real estate while this was all going on."
"I can see how you might think there is a connection," Kara said delicately. "But I can assure you that when this is all over, I will be reorganizing this town into the first corporate city. For a safe...and secure society."
The crowd booed her. "This isn't going as well as I had hoped," Kara said to Gen. Lane.
"Edge has been spotted. He just hit the DOD and released Lesslie Larr," an army major informed Gen. Lane.
"Well...shit," Gen. Lane sighed. "Let's move."
Gen. Lane, his staff, Kara, and Mon left the gym as the crowd shouted at them.
At a diner, Sara, Mara, and Kon hung out. "Welcome to the new Smallville only more pathetic," Sara shook her head dismayed.
"So this is where you've been hiding, bro," three baseball team members said to Kon and gave him a fist bump.
"Well, you know," Kon smirked glancing at Sara.
"Our town is under siege right now. We need to party. We're picking up a keg as we speak. Totally crafty," one of them said.
"Alright, I'm in," Kon said instantly.
"Mara can come to," one of them said intentionally ignoring Sara and then they all left.
"We shouldn't go," Mara said to Kon.
"No, it's been forever since you two got to hang out. It could be some good bonding time," Sara said sacrificially.
"Sounds good. Let's get drunk as fuck," Kon said enthusiastically.
Gen. Lane went back to his tent in the city square. "Don't salute me out here. You'll get me sniped. Where the fuck is your cover?" Gen. Lane said to his troops as he went past them.
"I think we should go back in there and talk some more shit," Kara advised.
"Not an option," Gen. Lane shot her down. "What part of classified don't you understand? You revealed the entire season's plot to them."
"So you can create dramatic tension by keeping them in the dark? Fuck that. Who cares what these hicks know anyway," Kara rolled her eyes. "Now, let's go back in there and set them straight."
"I have Morgan Edge and Leslie Larr on the loose now," Gen. Lane reminded her.
"We should probably warn someone," Kara said sarcastically.
Mon instantly appeared as Superman. "Morgan Edge isn't near the town," he said.
"He must have a different target," John said as Steel. "I tracked them after they left the DOD. They're going to Metropolis."
"You know, we can call each other on phones without needing to wait to meet in person," Gen. Lane scolded them both. "You three need to go now."
"Wait, not even two Kryptonians could take a city. He must have people on the ground there with him," Kara said. "Can you keep an eye on my brats?"
"Yeah, sure. It's all I'm good for now," Gen. Lane said annoyed.
"Where's Edge now?" Kara asked urgently.
"Bicentennial Park," John said as he lowered his helmet.
Metropolis
At Bicentennial Park, Morgan and Leslie stared at the crowd for a good while like weirdos. Mon and John arrived on the scene along with Kara as Supergirl. "You guys should probably back away. It's not safe," Kara said obviously to the crowd. She then met up with Hank and M'gann. "Is it just these two?" Hank asked.
"Probably not," Kara figured.
She scanned Morgan and found blue energy all around him. "He's become...the Eradicator."
Smallville
Kon and Mara were at the party and ignoring phone calls from Gen. Lane. Mara remained sober as Kon quickly got shit-faced. "Can we talk?" Elisa said interrupting them.
"Yeah, sure," Kon said as they went outside to talk. "Sup?"
"I know all about your Insane heritage, but I want us to be exclusive," Elisa said.
"Meaning?" Kon wondered.
"No sleeping, dating, or being affectionate with another girl," Elisa demanded.
"Why are you cock-blocking me? I thought we agreed we both could see as many girls as we want on the side," Kon said.
"Yeah, I know. But I'm willing to give them up if it means we're monogamous," Elisa said.
"So, you're not gay now?" Kon scoffed.
"I don't know. I just know that I want only you. I don't want to be with any other man or woman," Elisa said seriously.
"So, because you've decided to be clingy, I have to be the same way?" Kon asked.
"I don't know if it's the ring or something else, but I can't have you be around anyone else," Elisa said jealously.
"Well, are you going to make up for my lack of scoring?" Kon asked skeptically.
Elisa gave him a thirsty look. "I can't explain it but I burn for you. I want to take you to one of the empty bedrooms and have sex with you right now."
"Damn," Kon said amazed. "Look, I seriously doubt you can keep up with an Insane."
"I'll put that to the test," Elisa said as her eyes flashed pink and then dragged him upstairs.
Mara was about to interrupt Kon and Elisa when Sara entered the house. "Mara, I have to talk to you."
"Hey, proper etiquette. She's a princess," Cory said to her.
"Shut the fuck up, Cory," Sara spat. Everyone stared at her like she was an outcast. "What are you all looking at?" she yelled at them all.
"What's going on?" Mara asked taking her aside.
"My dad got his job back. We're staying here after all," she said.
"That's good news, right?" Mara asked knowing her mother was behind it.
"Hey, something's happening in Metropolis," a girl said and then turned on the TV. Mara eyed the TV as Morgan and Leslie squared off against the Super-Friends.
Metropolis
Superman and Steel squared off with Morgan and Leslie in the park. "Neither of you has any part in this," Leslie said to them both.
"I don't know. I feel pretty involved," John rebuked.
"Why are you here?" Mon asked.
"We thought it poetic that this city would be the first to fall," Leslie said.
"You're not taking the city, not alone," Mon scoffed. "The eradicator is gone, your subjects are gone. You're fucked."
"No one else needs to get hurt," John said to Morgan.
"There is no Morgan anymore," Leslie told him.
"I'm detecting four new Kryptonian signatures in the park," John's computer informed him.
Mon and John looked back to see four random people fly into the air. "Go! And bring this city to its knees," Morgan ordered in Kryptonian.
"Well...shit," Mon realized as the four metahumans flew off.
"I got them," John said to Mon referring to Leslie and Morgan.
Mon flew after the four while John engaged Leslie. "I got you, bitch," he said bringing up his hammer.
Leslie punched John through a civil rights leader statue to add insult to injury. John took to the air where he was quickly intercepted by Leslie. The two slammed into a building sending glass down onto the street. Kara eyed John and Leslie and then focused her attention on Morgan.
Mon flew after a metahuman that was blasting a skyscraper with heat vision. "That business district is heavily populated," Gen. Lane radioed to him. "You need to stop fooling around and take them out before there are mass casualties."
Mon punched one of the metahumans hard as he was firing on a skyscraper. The metahuman fell to the ground and hit a sidewalk hard knocking him out. "One down," Mon said pleased.
Another metahuman hit Mon and took him through the city where they hit a skyscraper and out the outer side. John and Leslie fought in the air until they slammed back down into the park. Leslie got on top of John and punched him repeatedly to the helmet. "Hull integrity is at 60%, 55%, 50%," the computer said as he was being punched.
"Shut the fuck up," John said to his computer as he shockwave blasted Leslie off him.
Leslie sped towards John only to get put in a chokehold. "Does Steel...have to choke a bitch?" John asked her as he raised her off the ground.
"Harder," Leslie said to him.
"The fuck?" John wondered and then summoned his hammer.
A metahuman blasted John off of Leslie. "Hammer offline," the computer informed him.
"Well, get it back online," John ordered.
"Oh, now you need my help?" the computer scoffed.
Leslie and the metahuman then engaged John while his hammer sat on the grass.
At the Daily Planet building, Cat Grant got herself on the roof overlooking the battle. "I got here as fast as I could. What's the emergency?" James Olsen asked as he arrived.
"Pick up the camera and start recording me," Cat ordered.
"What the fuck? I don't work for you anymore, I'm not a cameraman, and I'm now a US Senator," James rebuffed her.
"I don't give a shit. I need a decent cameraman as I capture the fight of the year," Cat ordered.
"Fuck it," James said picking up the camera.
"Live from Cat Grant, Morgan Edge has begun his attack on the city," Cat said as a building was suddenly hit.
Mon engaged two metahumans in the air that were punching and kicking him. "This is some bullshit," Mon said as he was forced to hold back. The three slammed into the bay with a splash.
Meanwhile, John was getting thrashed by a metahuman as Leslie watched. She suddenly took off sensing something. "Where is that bitch going?" John wondered.
Leslie went straight for Cat Grant and James Olsen on the Daily Planet building. "If I were you, I would evacuate right now," Cat said to the camera oblivious to Leslie being right behind her.
"Cat, behind you," James shouted at her.
"Oh, shit," Cat realized upon seeing Leslie stare at her. Cat slowly backed away knowing full well what Leslie was capable of. James activated his Guardian shield from his arm and placed it in front of Cat's body. A hammer suddenly hit Leslie to the head sending her through a building. The hammer came back to John hitting the other metahuman as it did.
"We got a badass over here," John said impressed with himself.
Cat went back to James. "Are you still rolling?" she asked perfectly composed.
"I think I just pissed myself," James said stunned.
"Superman is not alone in this fight," Cat said on camera. "As of now, we don't know how many of them are out there. They could be anyone. I'm Cat Grant, reporting from the Daily Planet." Immediately, the entire city was in a state of paranoia.
Mon went Super Insane briefly under water and beat the two metahumans unconscious. He then dragged their asses back to the park as he met up with John. "What's your count?" Mon asked.
"Two," John said.
"Three," Mon smiled giving him a fist bump.
The two focused on Morgan Edge. "Let's finish this," John said to him.
"I got this one covered," Kara assured them.
Mon and John ignored her and attacked him. Morgan blasted them back into a SWAT van destroying it. Kara rolled her eyes at them. "He's under some kind of mind control. I can't reach Edge," Hank said to Kara.
"What do we do?" M'gann asked.
"We...beat the shit out of him until he talks," Kara said obviously.
"I've soaked up three weeks of solar energy from the sun. You're no match for me," Morgan said confidently.
"Well, you see, that's where you're wrong," Kara said. She turned to the Green Martians. "Make sure he can't use his eradicator powers on me."
"Got you covered," M'gann nodded.
"Surrender or be...eradicated," Morgan told her.
Kara blasted him to the ground with her heat vision stunning him. "This is enough," she said to him.
Morgan's hands glowed as he blasted her with blue energy. Kara blocked his energy with her hand and then casually sliced into his shoulder with her heat vision. Kara then took Morgan's head, slammed it up against a building, and tore up the wall to the very top. She then threw him down to the ground creating a crater. Morgan fired up at Kara as she flew towards him. She took a direct hit and wasn't phased by it. The two fought hand-to-hand in the park and then entered a wrestling hold with one another. Morgan glowed blue as he went to full power.
"Three weeks? Try thirty years," Kara mocked. "Did you really think you could even come close to my power?"
Morgan and Kara glowed intensely until there was an explosion. Morgan was on the ground stunned while Kara remained standing. "Now, surrender," Kara ordered.
"Where have your Martian friends gone?" Morgan mocked.
Kara looked for them and realized they had retreated away from the explosion. "Shit," she realized.
Morgan fired blue energy on her to take over her mind. Kara retreated away from the beam before she could be taken over. Morgan then retreated escaping Metropolis.
Smallville
General Lane interrupted the party to personally retrieve Kon and Mara. "What is this? An end of the world party?" he asked unimpressed. "Both of you, in the car now," he ordered.
Mara gave an awkward look as Kon was still busy with Elisa upstairs. "Can you tell us what's going on with Morgan Edge," a random boy asked Gen. Lane.
"He's an asshole. That's all you need to know," Gen. Lane shut him down.
"Can Sara get a ride home?" Mara asked.
"Of course," Gen. Lane said losing patience.
Mara snapped her fingers blasting all the windows out in the house. Kon and a ruffled Elisa came downstairs realizing something was up. "Time to go," Mara said to Kon.
"I was almost done," Kon said irritably.
"You shouldn't have started," Mara scolded him.
"I have to go. Keep yourself safe," Kon said to Elisa and then took off with Gen. Lane.
Metropolis
Leslie and the four other metahumans were captured and taken away in Kryptonite handcuffs. "I feel we've done this before. We kick your ass, we capture you, you escape, we kick your ass again, we capture you. Let me guess, you escape next?" Kara mocked Leslie.
"You've got it all figured out, don't you?" Leslie shot back.
"Where's Morgan Edge headed?" Kara demanded.
"Isn't it obvious? To make more subjects," Leslie rolled her eyes.
"Well...shit," Kara sighed.
Smallville
General Lane drove Kon, Mara, and Sara to the DOD to keep them safe. "How did you track us?" Kon asked suspiciously.
"Please. You don't think I can't track down my son-in-law's first cousin once removed?" Gen. Lane scoffed. "Holy shit," he said as he hit Morgan Edge with his car.
The car flipped over several times before coming to a stop right-side up. All the windows had been shattered and the vehicle was no longer operational. Gen. Lane was injured in the accident. "There's a pistol in my glove compartment with Kryptonite in it. I need you to take the shot," Gen. Lane said to Mara who was in the passenger seat next to him.
"You have any experience shooting?" Gen. Lane asked her.
"A little," Mara said.
"Get him in your sights and take him out," Gen. Lane ordered.
Mara took the pistol and aimed it at Morgan Edge. She hesitated to kill him. "Cock the gun," Gen. Lane instructed. Mara did so and then it glowed green.
"He's just standing there," Mara said confused.
"Try to keep your hand steady. You're only going to have one shot at this. When you got him, pull the trigger," Gen. Lane said.
Mara aimed and fired at him. Morgan sped away before he could be shot. "Did you get him?" Gen. Lane asked.
"He flew away," Mara said lamely.
"Flew away where?" Sara asked alarmed.
Morgan ripped the door open and took Kon away with him into the air. Mara calmly got out of the car and looked up. "Oh my God! What just happened? He took him into the air!" Sara said freaked out.
"Sara, you need to go home," Mara told her. After Sara had run off, Mara turned to Gen. Lane. "Are you okay?"
"You missed the shot on purpose, didn't you?" he accused.
Mara said nothing to that. "Don't worry about me. Go find him," Gen. Lane said to her. Mara nodded and then took to the air where she listened for any sign of Kon and found nothing.
Morgan took Kon to a nuclear reactor that would shield him from anyone hearing where he was. Kon went Super Insane and went for a punch. Morgan blasted him with blue energy to take over his mind. Kon was quickly taken over and became a host for Brainiac. "Now, let's begin," Brainiac said in Kon's body.
