At the DOD, Mon and Kara gave each other dumbfounded looks ever since Mara reported Kon missing. Mon was in his Superman uniform while Kara was still in civilians. John, meanwhile, was beside himself with his robot computer wearing his Steel suit. "I haven't been able to locate Kon-El or Morgan Edge. Shall I keep searching?" the computer asked.
"Obviously," John said annoyed. "Keep searching until I tell you to stop."
Leslie was escorted close to John and decided to talk shit as she passed him. "You're going to fail...again," she mocked.
"Shut the fuck up, bitch," John told her off.
"You can sense him anywhere?" Kara asked Mon.
"Nope," Mon replied.
"Well, I can't hear him. Where the fuck is he hiding now?" Kara asked unamused by this hide and seek game.
"My AI hasn't picked up anything," John reported.
"Look, I'll find him. This shouldn't take too long," Mon said as he instantly disappeared.
Smallville
Meanwhile, Mara was with an injured Gen. Lane. Sara had retrieved her parents for assistance. Kyle and Lana arrived on the scene to help the general out of his car. "We need to take him to a hospital," Lana said.
"Whoa, general, you're hurt. You could have internal injuries," Kyle said as Gen. Lane got out of his wrecked car.
"His injuries are superficial except for his broken arm," Mara said calmly.
"All I care about is finding the son-of-a-bitch that stole my son-in-law's cousin once removed," Gen. Lane said fiercely.
"Let's just take it easy," Kyle said to him.
"Are you okay?" Lana asked Mara.
"I'm fine," she assured her.
"I told them what happened with Edge. Why would he take Kon?" Sara asked freaking out.
"Kon is the son of a wealthy heiress. It's probably just a ransom. He'll be fine," Mara assured her.
DOD
At the DOD, Kara marched down the halls and was stopped by some army guys. "Stop! I need to speak to that bitch," Kara ordered.
"Our orders are to...," the sergeant told her.
"I'm speaking to her. Piss-off," Kara said as her eyes glowed red.
"Fuck this," the two army guys said taking off.
Kara confronted Leslie and slammed her against the wall. "Where did Edge take my son?" she asked.
"I don't know. This world is pretty big. Just think of all the places he could hide," Leslie antagonized.
"Where's my son!" Kara yelled at her.
"Your son? I'm sure he's long gone by now," Leslie said. "All you care about is one person when the rest of the human race is about to die. How pathetically human," Leslie said.
"We're going to find him...," Kara told her.
"Oh, really? You have no idea what's coming next," Leslie said.
"You two have been saying the same thing several times now. Honestly, I'm not impressed," Kara said.
"Not even you can handle what's coming next...Supergirl," Leslie said to her.
"Time's up," Kara said as she kissed her memories away. "You can take the bitch away now," Kara called back the army guys.
Smallville
Gen. Lane came back to Smallville with Mara with him. As he did, there was a protest around his command tent. After a month of being in Smallville, the army had been too cheap to give a 4-star general an office to properly work in. "I don't have time for this shit," Gen. Lane said annoyed.
"You okay, Sir?" an Lt. asked.
"Do I look like I'm fine?" Gen. Lane asked with his arm in a sling. "What the hell is going on here?"
"They've been here for a while and refuse to leave," the Lt. said.
"Well, we're going to have to make them," Gen. Lane said forcefully.
Utah
A possessed Kon went to the southwest desert and fired a beam into the ground deep enough that lava rose to the surface at the bottom of the crater. Mon arrived on the scene having noticed the sudden jump in his Ki. "I think you missed the core by a lot," Mon mocked.
"I was merely trying to gain your attention," Kon replied.
"Fair enough," Mon allowed.
Kon punched Mon to the ground as he went Super Insane. "Kon-El has been eradicated. I see the weakness in you, Mon-El."
"Brainiac?" Mon figured.
"He's the perfect vessel," Kon said.
"We'll have to agree to disagree," Mon mocked.
"He has the untapped power of a Kryptonian and a Jin-Saiyan. And I will mold both into proper greatness," Kon said. Kon proceeded to give Mon some bitch-slaps. "I will add your family and this world to my collection."
Mon began to block Kon's punches and held him still. "Kon, stop!" he ordered.
Kon headbutted Mon to the ground. "You don't have the strength to kill your own son. You lack commitment, Mon-El," Kon mocked. He then grabbed a hold of Mon and took him into the lava, across the pit, and to the other side.
Smallville
Morgan Edge appeared before the protesters and army guys on main street. He glowed blue as he let loose his eradicator powers. An army squad moved forward to confront him as protesters scattered in fear. Mara watched passively as Morgan powered up. Steel flew in and fired his missile at Morgan. The missile detonated on Morgan's shield barrier harmlessly.
"Well...shit," John realized.
Morgan cast John to the street as he flew by. The army squad fired on Morgan with no effect. Morgan fired blue energy beams at the army squad and immediately possessed them with Kryptonian powers. "You are now mine," Morgan said to them.
The possessed army squad then took into the air. "Alright, that could be an issue," Gen. Lane remarked.
Utah
"There's nothing you can do now, Mon-El. I can possess the minds of every human and endow them with Kryptonian powers. Not even you can stop my army," Kon said to him.
"Kon, if you're in there, I'm not going to kill you. I'm just going to beat your ass," Mon told him.
"Tall order," Kon said as he fired a beam through Mon's chest.
Mon fell to the ground devastated. Kon was about to give his father the finishing move when he twitched. He sensed his mother's presence coming closer and retreated underground.
Kara as Supergirl landed on the ground and noticed the fallen Mon. "Holy shit!"
"I couldn't...I couldn't kill my own son," Mon admitted.
Smallville
The next morning, Mon was back as Superman with his suit and chest wound repaired. "We need to evacuate everyone in Smallville," Gen. Lane said to Chrissy, Lana, and Kyle with Mon and Kara already in the tent.
"Everyone?" Lana doubted.
"They need to get as far away from here as possible as quickly as possible. Use Twitter, Facebook, all that social media crap to get it done," Gen. Lane ordered. "Whatever it takes or I'll escort them all out with my men."
"Got it," Chrissy said taking off.
"Yeah, we'll spread the word. My reputation is shit but whatever," Kyle said.
"Whatever we need to do," Lana agreed.
"General, have you heard anything about Kon?" Sara ashed awkwardly.
"He's possessed by Morgan Edge and still at large," Gen. Lane said bluntly. "But we have the world's finest looking for him," he assured her.
"Okay," Sara said lamely and left the tent.
"You give me far too little credit," Kara said.
"Your son is missing and you're still acting like this?" Gen. Lane asked incredulously
"If I freaked out every time Kon puts himself in danger, I would never get any sleep," Kara said dismissively.
"Kon is completely possessed," Mon reported.
"And six of my best," Gen. Lane said pissed off.
"Were they from Smallville?" Kara asked.
"Actually, yes," Gen. Lane noted.
"Shit," Kara realized.
"How did he do it?" Mon asked.
"Some kind of bullshit energy field," Gen. Lane said.
"My tech didn't do shit on him," John said.
"We need Kryptonite," Mara interjected.
"That might do the trick, actually," John agreed. "How about we see if we can make something together?"
"Alright," Mara agreed and went with him out of the tent.
"Mon, when Brainiac was in your mind, could you resist him at all?" Gen. Lane asked.
"Nope," Mon shook his head.
"Well, either we find him or he'll find us," Gen. Lane said tiredly. "And I'll want to know what you want to do when that happens."
Gen. Lane left the tent leaving Mon and Kara alone. "How do I do this? If I fight at his level, I could kill him with one punch," Mon asked.
"Have John help you," Kara suggested. "Just beat his ass until he's unconscious and then I'll use this memory band thing to reach him. I've seen Kon's darkness his whole life. I can bring him out."
"And what if you end up getting possessed, too?" Mon asked.
"Mara will be with me," Kara said simply.
"I don't feel reassured by that," Mon admitted.
"She's completely in control under pressure," Kara said. "Our children have become capable, strong, like their mother."
"Like their father," Mon corrected.
At the house, Gen. Lane delivered some Kryptonite in lead cases. John placed the Kryptonite inside his hammer with Mara's assistance. Upon turning it on, she felt immediately sick. "It works," she confirmed.
Mon then dropped down as Superman and shook his head at Kara. "Damn it," Kara sighed.
In the barn, John gave a class to Kara, Mon, and Mara on his new tech. "With my hammer, the Kryptonite, and a lot of kinetic energy, I should be able to penetrate Morgan's energy shield," John said.
"How far do you need to throw that thing to get enough force?" Kara asked.
"Like...far," John said vaguely. "And Morgan needs to stay in one place when it happens."
"And I'm thinking you only get one shot at this," Kara figured.
"I'll handle Edge," Mon said confidently.
"In your base form, you will be no match for him," Mara calculated. "Plus, he'll have six other men with him with Kryptonian powers. The odds are not favorable."
"Well, it's the only plan we got," Kara said stubbornly.
"How about mother punches him really really hard," Mara said obviously.
"Your mother is going to be using a mind-control device to reach Kon's mind," Mon explained.
"I feel the roles should be reversed here," Mara said.
"I actually agree," John said.
"Yeah, but this gives John something cool to do so we're going with this plan," Kara said.
Kon, Morgan Edge and the six army guys flew towards the Smallville mines. Morgan crashed through the mine into an open cavern filled with X-Kryptonite crystals. He then formed an energy shield around himself as he used the crystals to increase his power. Kon and the army guys remained outside to guard Morgan. Mon and Kara sensed Kon's arrival at the mines.
John and Mon exited the barn ready to kick ass. "So...because we're going with this plan, we have terrible odds," John said.
"Yeah, but it's a team-up," Mon said.
The two flew off and landed at the mines. Mon took on four army guys while John took on two. With his hammer, John blocked one and swat another. Mon quickly punched one army guy down, tripped another up, punched a third into the rocky wall, and then head-butted the fourth. He took the fourth and threw him to the ground. One managed to recover and put Mon into a headlock.
Kon's eyes went red as he went for the kill. John blasted Kon away with a Kryptonite burst from his armband. Mon got out of his headlock and punched the army guy to the ground. The six army guys all recovered, however. "Go, get him," Mon ordered John.
"I guess," John said taking Kon away from the mines back to the barn.
In the air, John's computer was annoying him again. "John, you've lost power. You're using critical energy reserves now."
"I know, I got it," John said annoyed.
John crashed through the barn with Kon. "He won't be out for long," he said to Kara and Mara.
"So...how's it going out there?" Kara asked curiously.
"A work in progress," John said vaguely and took off.
Kara placed the metal band on Kon's forehead. "I got you," Mara assured her.
"I know," Kara smiled and placed the metal headband on herself.
In the streets of Smallville, the town had an inexplicable traffic jam despite its small size and the many county roads that would have intersected near its location. Morgan Edge's energy field fired off random bursts towards the town creating several fires. Kyle eyed the fires realizing what he had to do. He left Lana and Sara to be a hero.
"I'm going to save the shit out of this town," he said as he rushed into a burning building.
Kara entered the dream world and found Brainiac waiting for her on his ship somewhere in the galaxy. He appeared tall with green organic skin, cables attached to his skull, and wearing an armored suit. His throne room was filled with cables and screens. "You'll never get to him. He's buried too deep in his subconscious. Lost forever," Brainiac said to her.
"I'll find him," Kara said confidently.
"You don't know even where to look," Brainiac said knowingly. "But I know where to find you."
Kara ignored Brainiac and found Kon sitting in his room subdued. "I'm not strong, mother," Kon said disappointed in himself.
"Yes, you are," Kara told him.
"Brainiac said my mind was pathetic, an embarrassment to my kind. I was never as smart as Mara," Kon said tearfully.
"You don't have to be a genius, Kon. You don't even have to be powerful. Kon, look at me. All you have to be is good," Kara told him.
"I'm not good, mother. I've killed a shit-ton of people. I'm an asshole," Kon admitted.
"Yes, you are, but you've saved so many lives across the galaxy by killing these people. You've freed so many worlds," Kara said.
"Really?" Kon asked wiping away his tears.
"All that matters in this universe is my opinion so listen to what I have to say, alright. I'm proud of you, Kon, and I love you," Kara said embracing him. "Now, I need you to fight. That's an order."
Kon awoke in the barn and faced off against Mara. "I'm assuming mother failed," Mara judged.
"Yes," Kon smirked.
Mara fired on her him blasting him across the barn. Mara went Super Insane and put her fists up. "I know that didn't put you down." Kon went Super Insane as well and sped towards her. He grabbed her by the throat to strangle her and took her up into the air.
"You lack strength, Mara," Kon said as he overpowered her.
"I love you, Kon," Mara said sincerely.
Kon suddenly broke the mind-control and released Mara. The two embraced in the air and came back to the ground. Kara awoke and noticed Kon was free. "That's my son," she said pleased as she gave him a hug.
In the air, the army guys climbed up on Mon like a bunch of zombies. Steel threw his hammer at Mon. The impact was enough to scatter the army guys off him. The hammer then came back to John's hand.
"You ready?" Mon smiled.
"Ready," John said even as he had only 7% power left.
Mon instantly teleported himself next to Morgan inside his energy shield and placed him in a headlock to keep him still. Steel threw his hammer right at Morgan from space. The hammer emitted Kryptonite as it opened, penetrated the shield, and obliterated Morgan on the spot in a powerful explosion that ripped open the mine.
"Like a boss," John said as he ran out of power in space.
Mon instantly appeared next to John and took him to the ground safely. "You caught me," John said gratefully.
"You're the best," Mon smiled giving him a fist bump.
Immediately, Leslie and the army guys lost their mind-control.
Shortly thereafter, the residents of Smallville cleaned up the mess that was their town, new investment came in, and Kyle got his job back as the fire chief. Kara and Mon visited the mine that was crawling with army guys working to secure the site. "Morgan Edge was an asshole but no one deserves to have their mind controlled by a super-computer and turned into a villain," Kara said sadly.
"If you say so," Mon said looking around.
"This small town was hurting, these people were hurting, and an event this big could have destroyed it, torn it apart. But it didn't. It brought everyone back together. I saw a strength in them I haven't seen in humans for a long time. They're heroes. I know that from this experience, Smallville will be stronger than ever before, under my leadership," Kara said reflectively.
"Well, okay then," Mon agreed.
"Winning by default, again," Kara smiled giving Mon a high-five.
"Sounds like we should go to a barbeque party and get drunk-as-fuck," Mon invited.
At Kyle's victory party, the people of Smallville had a great time. "Oh, these ribs are to die for," Kara said inappropriately. "What? Too soon?"
"Hook this woman up with the recipe," Kyle ordered Lana.
Mon noticed Emily was now chill with Lana and Kyle once more. "I see that you've made up," he said to Lana still impersonating Clark.
"Yeah, we talked, we cried, we finished an entire box of white wine, and then we had a threesome with her husband. It was weird but fulfilling," Lana admitted.
"Nice," Mon smiled.
"Smallville truly is home. I even met my best friend here," Lana said looking directly at him.
"Is that so?" Mon asked intrigued.
"I feel we have unfinished business," Lana said biting her lip as Kyle looked on completely oblivious as he cooked more ribs.
Kara ignored Mon and Lana and went over to Chrissy. "I'm going to keep the Smallville Gazette going with you as the editor. Let's build something here. A paper owned by me where the story comes first regardless of the consequences. What do you think?"
Chrissy simply stared at Kara and then smiled joyfully. "Yes!" she said excitedly.
"Alright, calm it down. People will start to think I proposed to you," Kara downplayed.
"You have saved my life," Chrissy said giving Kara a hug.
"Yeah, I get that a lot," Kara nodded.
John approached a still injured Gen. Lane. "I'm going back to my Earth to kick ass. I'll probably die trying. I'm sorry I can't join the DOD."
"It's alright. You do what you got to do to avenge your family," Gen. Lane said to him.
"What are you going to do? File for disability?" John figured.
"Nah, I'm staying on active duty. Someone has to keep an eye on those two," Gen. Lane said referring to Kara and Mon. "You're going to be hard to replace," he complimented John.
"Yeah, I know," John smirked.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to persuade all these fine people that I'm not an asshole for imposing martial law on their town for a month," he said walking off.
Kara then came up to John. "Sup?"
"General Lane is staying on active duty to keep you in check," John revealed.
"Ha, tall order," Kara said darkly. "You ready to go?"
"You have to promise me you won't toy with these people like you do here. I don't want to die for your amusement," John said seriously.
"You got it," Kara promised.
"You know, every time I see you, I see my wife, the only woman I have ever loved. And she's with someone else and she's happy. I know you're not her, but it doesn't change the way I feel," John said.
"We have the technology to clone myself, and I can give her over to you," Kara offered.
"That's kind of fucked up. My wife was more than her genetics, her looks, her powers. She was...a lot different than you, and she can never be replaced. I need to move on," John said.
"Well, before we go, I think tequila is in order," Kara invited.
"Fuck yeah," John agreed.
Kon and Sara walked awkwardly in a field. "So, you're going back to Metropolis," she realized.
"I think you're a really cool girl. You dodged all of my temptations and advances. You should do as your mom did and marry some normal guy," Kon advised.
"I don't want to be with some town hick. I want to be with you, a super-boy," Sara told him.
"The truth is...I knocked up some chick. You were always my side-bitch. I totally cheated on you," Kon lied.
"You're a bastard," Sara said pissed off.
"I know," Kon agreed.
Kon walked away from Sara and met up with Elisa a distance away. "Smooth," she remarked.
"I've made a decision," Kon said and then paused dramatically. "When I was under mind-control, I had some time to think. I don't want to be alone in the universe. I want to have someone with me to share in my glory. I'll agree to your terms for now."
"Are you just saying that because you had a near-death experience?" Elisa tested.
"What? No," Kon denied.
Elisa gave him a kiss and then the two flew off into the air.
A few days later, Kara invited Mon outside. Kon and Mara were already present wearing black near a tree. Mon then noticed Kara was wearing black as well. "Is this a fucking funeral?" Mon wondered.
"Yes," Kara said obviously.
Mara came forth with an urn. "This was all that was left of Morgan Edge," she said handing it to him.
"We were thinking of burying him by this tree," Kara said thoughtfully. "So, you can remember your victory every time you walk outside."
Mon gave Kara a kiss on her wrist greatly moved by the gesture. He then placed the urn inside a prepared hole and covered it up. "Even at my age, I still didn't know who I was or what I wanted to be on this world. But when I found him, he taught me so many things about my family, about myself. I think the greatest thing he ever did for me...," Mon said then began to choke up.
"It's okay," Kara consoled him.
"...was be my nemesis," Mon concluded with tears in his eyes.
Author's Notes: The Snyder Cut Justice League is going to be moved to the Season 6 finale regardless of whatever CW comes up with. There are going to be some transitional episodes coming up and then Season 6 will begin. Mon-El will be replacing Zor-El's character in all scenes as well as any scenes where CW Mon-El may be present. James will continue to be the Guardian. Winn is going to return at some point. So, Superman and Lois didn't even try to have continuity with CW SG when it came to Morgan Edge. SG is also suspiciously absent from this entire season as if she doesn't exist even though she would have a lot of insight into Kal-El's family. So, I reconciled what I could but I think the show got weird at episode 10 when Morgan was revealed to be who he was. John as Steel was great and I found the twist about him amusing. Lois and Kyle were both dumb with their opinions so two wrongs make a right, apparently. I had fun incorporated this superior show in Adventures of Supergirl and have no regrets. I have no issues doing Q and A in the author's notes, by PM, or by email.
