In an English Medieval castle, named the Tower of Fate, Mara and Brainiac 5 practiced an exorcism on Raven. Her arms were chained up and there was a gag in her mouth to prevent her from performing any spells against them. "I have faith that my God can overcome anything," Mara said to Brainiac 5.
"Proceed then," he allowed.
"What if I fail and unleash a powerful demon onto this world?" Mara asked.
"Then, it is God's will," Brainiac 5 said simply.
"Well, it's not my Earth," Mara considered and then placed her hand on Raven's forehead. "By the power of God, I release you from your torment," she said as she touched the ruby stone on her forehead.
Raven squirmed as Mara was about to unleash Trigon, her father, onto the world. Mara took hold of the stone, tore it from Raven's forehead, and crushed it to nothing in her hand. There was an awkward moment as neither side knew what would happen next. Finally, Mara released Raven's restraints. Her black robes suddenly became white as she became free of Trigon's power and evil. She could finally feel hope, love, and joy.
"It seems to have worked this time," Brainiac 5 said impressed.
Raven took a knee before Mara and Brainiac 5. "You have freed me from my father's power. I will do anything you ask of me," she pledged.
Meanwhile, Kara and John got into a fierce argument outside the castle. "If you had been there, we could have killed him," he raged.
"No, he always had that Yellow Lantern ring with him. He was just toying with you just as I do. We're the same so we think alike," Kara said.
"If you are the same as him, then it stands to reason he may become overconfident allowing me to defeat him," John argued.
"Sure, but you can't risk yourself like that," Kara said. "This mission becomes pointless if you die."
"This isn't a video game where it's game over if the person you're supposed to protect dies on the battlefield," John said obviously.
"It is for me. There is an infinite number of universes where Earth is fucked up. I only go to the interesting ones," Kara said. "So, if you die, I'm not sticking around."
"That's fucked up. You're fucked up," John pointed out.
"So, it behooves you to keep you and your daughter alive," Kara told him. She then focused her attention on Natalie. "And aren't you the most precious thing ever?"
"This woman looks like your mother, but she's from another universe," John explained to her.
"Your power is like him," Natalie sensed referring to Calvin. "Can you beat him?"
"I don't know. At this power level, it's more about offense than defense. In a split second, I could kill him or he could kill me," Kara said honestly. "And that is why we don't confront him directly. We take his pawns off the board first and gather intelligence on his abilities," she said looking directly at John.
"Can I give you a hug?" Natalie asked tearfully.
"Yeah," Kara allowed.
John couldn't help but smile as Natalie embraced Kara. For the moment, she had her mother back.
Metropolis
Calvin, Sinestro, and Hal came by the ruined Hall of Justice. "Flash, Cyborg, Robin, Raven, they're all gone," Hal reported.
"Gone where?" Sinestro questioned.
"They took them," Calvin said obviously. "There's no trace of them," he said as he scanned the area with his eyes.
"How can they vanish from your senses? How can our rings detect nothing?" Sinestro wondered.
"Fucking magic," Calvin assumed.
Tower of Fate
Kara entered the room that hosted the Flash. He was still strapped down and gagged. "I know this is supposed to be your therapy and it's supposed to be all about you, but I kind of need to talk. I hope that's okay," Kara said.
Flash said nothing to that. "I'm feeling all sorts of fucked up. I have all of these great powers, but I still feel fear. For the first time in a long time, I'm actually afraid of what's going to happen next," Kara admitted.
"I realize it's hard for you to sympathize seeing as I've strapped you down to a table and electrocuted you a bit. I've made so many mistakes, and I don't know who really believes in me anymore," Kara said softly.
"Kara, it's time," Mon interrupted.
"Sorry, we have to go but thanks for listening. I know you don't really have a choice but it means a lot," Kara said as she exited the room. "I may just have to keep you strapped down here forever."
Kara, Mon, Brainiac 5, Mara, Kon, John, and Raven sat down for a meeting at a round table. "I think we need to recruit more guys, a suicide squad if you will," Kara brought up.
"Superman is coming," Brainiac 5 said nonchalantly.
"How the hell did he find us?" Kara demanded of Raven. "I thought we were under some kind of magical cloak."
"A cloak actually pinpoints our position rather easily when the whole planet is scanned," Brainiac 5 said in her defense.
"Well...shit," Kara muttered.
"How long do we have?" Mon asked.
"They're here," Brainiac 5 replied.
The doors to the castle suddenly burst open as Calvin, Sinestro, Hal, Ares, Shazam, and a recovered Wonder Woman entered. The two sides faced off each as the dust cleared. "Release your prisoners to me and surrender," Calvin ordered.
"Yeah, fuck that," Kara said boldly.
Calvin punched her hard into a wall nearly destroying it. "So, that's how you want to play it? Team, go," Kara said to the others.
"You think your family of freaks is going to make a difference," Calvin insulted.
"At least I have a family," Kara mocked.
Calvin went for a punch only for Kara to dodge it and punch him hard to the ribs. "You rely on brute strength over technique," Kara critiqued and then elbowed Calvin hard to the back of the head.
Kon went up against Sinestro only to get pushed back by a yellow shield. "So tedious," Sinestro insulted.
Diana and Mara faced off with each other. "I want you to know I take no pleasure in hurting you, sister," Diana said to her.
"A warrior who believes in false gods in the service of a false god," Mara insulted.
"I take it back," Diana glared.
The two quickly traded blows with neither having the advantage. Mon went Super Insane and blasted Shazam into a wall. Calvin and Kara continued to clash about the castle. "You think the outcome will be different this time, Kara. Nothing's changed," Calvin taunted as he punched her across the room. Raven put up a shield to catch Kara. The two stumbled into each other as they hit the floor.
Raven got back up and generated a white energy field around her. Kara stared in wonder as Raven charged up her attack. "Azarath Metrion...," Raven began and then was suddenly shot through the back by Sinestro dropping her dead.
"No," Kara said stunned.
"Sinestro, you attacked with her back to you," Diana accused.
"This is war, Amazon," Sinestro said condescendingly.
Kara went Prime and glowed inside the castle. "You're all going to burn," she said as she powered up. Sinestro attempted to hold his ground only to be blasted back by the power of her aura. Diana went for an attack but was bitch-slapped away. Kara grabbed Calvin by the throat and kept him still. Shazam attempted to interfere but was blasted by Kara's heat vision. He retreated away smoking from his robes.
Mon rounded up Kon, Mara, Brainiac 5, and John. "Time to leave," Mon said knowingly.
"No, we have the advantage," John insisted.
"Those two are just going to continue to escalate the fight until this whole place is a crater," Mon explained.
Meanwhile, Kara used her left arm to punch right through Ares's gut and out the other side. While immortal, Ares was torn apart by the blow and would take time to regenerate.
"Mon's assessment is correct," Brainiac 5 calculated as Kara and Calvin increased their power.
"Let's go," Mon ordered.
Calvin fired heat vision while Hal fired a yellow Gattling gun at Kara at the same time. The attacks were merely absorbed in her Prime aura. While still keeping a good grip on Calvin with her right hand, she slammed Sinestro to the ground with her left. Turning her attention to Hall, she blew him through a wall and outside the castle. Calvin released himself, went Prime, and gave Kara a solid uppercut stunning her. Calvin then punched Kara again to the face as Diana placed her lasso around her right arm. Kara pulled on Diana's lasso throwing Diana into Calvin with enough force to knock her out.
Shazam hit Kara with an electrical strike distracting her for a brief moment. Calvin went Prime and matched Kara's power level. Kara blasted him with heat vision with the intent to kill. He blasted her back with freeze breath that froze the entire castle. The two battled it out as the castle was about to explode. "We need to get the fuck out of here, man! Game over, game over, man!" Hal said terrified.
Calvin and Kara blasted the castle apart and took their fight to the air. Sinestro, Hal, Shazam, Diana, and a dead-looking Ares barely escaped through a yellow portal. In the air, Kara lit Calvin up with intense heat vision. He bared it with pain and then hit back with frost breath. The two climbed higher into the atmosphere as they went through their Prime levels. Kara punched Calvin's head aside but he quickly recovered. The two locked hands and struggled against each other. Finally, Kara head-butted Calvin stunning him briefly. Putting his hands together, Calvin slammed Kara to the head. Kara skillfully kicked Calvin to the head with her right boot and to his gut with her left.
"I'm tired of your games, bitch," Calvin said annoyed, and then powered up. "Now, burn!"
Calvin went for a punch only for Kara to evade him. She then rammed her fist into his gut. Calvin cried out in pain and powered up to the next level so that they were both at Prime 5. "Amazing, Kara. We're still equal," Calvin said genuinely impressed.
"If we keep this up, the planet will be destroyed," Kara warned him.
"Like I give a shit," he gritted his teeth at her.
"Well...I don't either...but fuck," Kara realized.
On the Earth's surface, the sky turned red, the wind picked up, and even gravity was started to weaken. "The Supers look fucked up. I say we finish them off while we still have the chance," John said to Mon.
"My feelings exactly," Mon said giving him a fist bump. "Attack!"
Mon, Kon, and Mara went Super Insane in an instant and attacked the weakened Justice League. Mon slammed his knee into Shazam's chin, Mara punched Diana hard to the jaw, and Kon punched Hal to the face. John swung his hammer connecting with Sinestro's chin. Mara took Diana's arm and placed her in a hold. After a brief struggle, Diana got out of Mara's hold and swung her sword at her. Mara fired beams from her fingertips that sliced Diana's swords to pieces. Diana then swung her shield at Mara hitting her in the face. Mara fell to the ground stunned.
Mon and Shazam punched and kicked as they tore through a forest. Trees and vegetation exploded all around them. Sinestro recovered against John and began firing non-stop with his ring. "Do you really think your puny gadgets can defeat me?" he asked rhetorically.
John fired at Sinestro missing his foot. "And your aim is pathetic," Sinestro added.
The tree fell on top of Sinestro crushing him. "Pathetic, huh?" John asked as he aimed his missile at Sinestro's head ready to fire. Hal suddenly hit John with a yellow jet-fighter engine construct. "Okay, I've had enough of this," Hal said as he cast John away.
Brainiac 5 entangled Ares in his metal tentacles. Eventually, Ares awoke and regenerated the hole in his gut. "Bitch, I am the god of war," Ares spat at him.
"I respect your position and all that you have accomplished on this world. I have a proposition for you," Brainiac 5 said.
"I'm listening," Ares said intrigued.
Mon dodged Shazam's lightning with his instant transmission. He got behind Shazam and blasted him to the back. Mortally wounded, Shazam was forced to go back to his kid self. As he did, Mon knocked him out with a tap on his neck.
Mara and Kon took either side of Diana and attacked with coordinated strikes. Diana punched Mara away but Kon punched through her shield shattering it. Diana, in turn, threw her broken shield shard at Mara nearly hitting her. She then whipped her lasso around Kon's neck and slammed him down to the ground. Mara punched Diana off of Kon, slammed her elbow down on her neck, and pulled her head up by her hair.
"I'm not going to kill you. I'm just going to hurt you really really badly," Mara said as she powered up an orb in her hand and then pressed it into Diana's face. Diana was blasted across the field where she fell devastated. Kon then took the lasso off his neck.
"That was annoying," he said kicking the lasso aside.
"You okay?" Mara asked concernedly.
"Not like I haven't been strangled before," Kon grinned.
The two looked up and noticed the hellfire that was in the sky. Above them, Calvin and Kara were fighting with power levels that made them as weak as humans in comparison. In the upper atmosphere, it was as if megaton explosions were going off every second. The temperature started to go up, the winds were like a hurricane, and random rocks were starting to float. The two titans combined power was beginning to exceed the gravity of the planet ripping objects off the surface into the air.
"Wicked," Kon smiled enthralled.
"This could be an issue," Mara said dryly.
"Assemble," Mon ordered his crew.
Mara and Kon were instantly at his side, John made his way over in a damaged suit, and Brainiac 5 was nowhere to be seen. "Where's Barney?" Mara asked.
"Fuck that guy. He has his own agenda," Mon said dismissively. In an instant, they were all gone.
Kara and Calvin fought near the moon causing moon dust and debris to start orbiting them. With each blow, it shook the moon creating moonquakes along its surface. With each strike, they received grievous wounds that were healed near-instantly. Mon suddenly appeared next to Kara and instantly took her away from the battle. Calvin hesitated to power down as he looked everywhere and then noticed the damage to the planet. With his falcon eyes, he located his own team surprised they were all alive.
Mon and Kara instantly arrived at a house called the House of Mystery. Kara gave Mon a grateful look and then collapsed on the floor. Brainiac 5 was immediately at her side. "That...hurt," she said spitting out blood.
"So, is he stronger than you?" Mon asked impatiently.
"Hard to tell," Kara admitted. "At this level, even a lucky shot could end me. This isn't like the fight at the Tournament of Power with Overgirl. He really wants to kill me out there."
"Your internal injuries are healing rapidly," Brainiac 5 detected.
Kara got back to her feet. "Status?"
"Flash, Cyborg, and Robin were rescued...," Brainiac 5 reported.
Kara, Mon, and John gave him a look to continue. "...just as planned," Brainiac 5 concluded.
Metropolis
In the Hall of Justice, Calvin was pissed off at Hal. "She didn't just fall off the face of the universe. Kara is out there, plotting, scheming."
"My ring can't detect her presence. Wherever she is, it's not on this plane," Hal excused.
"We need to do better," Calvin lectured.
"Condescend much?" Hal asked annoyed.
"I am the President of the United States, a former senator, lawyer, professor, and community organizer. Do you have a problem with how I speak to you, Hal?" Calvin dared.
"As a matter of fact, I do," Hal said boldly.
"I don't have time for your delicate ego so piss off," Calvin told him off.
"What if I don't...piss off?" Hal challenged as he glowed yellow.
Calvin was about to incinerate him when Diana interrupted. "Can I have a word with you?" she asked him politely. She then eyed Hal's hostility. "Stand down, soldier," she ordered.
"I'm not a soldier, I'm an airman...like...what the fuck?" Hal said outraged.
"What is it?" Calvin asked Diana ignoring Hal.
"Are we tyrants?" Diana asked bluntly.
"No," Calvin replied.
"Well, that's good enough for me," Diana smiled reassured.
Washington DC
Cyborg and Robin had a little argument near the Washington Monument completely oblivious someone was in the trees spying on them. "You really think you can track them down using your so-called detective skills? I have access to the Internet. 4Chan can find anything within a few hours," Cyborg boasted.
"Don't talk down to me. I'm basically Batman 2.0," Robin said.
"Okay, little man," Cyborg said condescendingly.
"I'm not little. My balls have officially dropped," Damien shot back.
"I've noticed," Cyborg allowed. "Oh, shit!" he said as he was suddenly kicked to the face knocking him out.
Natalie dropped down and faced off against Robin. "Natalie?" Robin wondered. She tensed up her muscles ready to kick ass. "Alright, I don't know what you've done to yourself, Natalie, but no one kicks Cyborg's ass but me."
"Are you done?" Natalie antagonized.
Robin attacked Natalie with some smooth moves, none of which had any effect. Natalie then punched Robin into the air, across town, and into a busy street. "Did...anyone...get the number...on that bitch?" Robin asked deliriously as he passed out.
Natalie grabbed Robin's head and oriented it towards a helicopter reporting on the incident. "Superman, you are to answer for your crimes. Face me or Robin dies," Natalie told the helicopter.
The helicopter then used a load speaker to communicate Superman's message to Natalie. "Great. Let me get this down. Answer for my...Oh, wait! I got a better idea. Instead, how about I send you a hobo's dick cheese? Then, you kill him. Do your thing, skin the fucking bastard. Go to town, girl. Go to town! In the meantime and, as usual, go fuck yourself," Calvin replied.
"Typical," Robin muttered.
Natalie threw Robin down and flew towards the Washington Monument. "This should get his attention," she said to herself as she lifted the Washington Monument off its foundations.
Calvin immediately arrived as Natalie threatened to toss the Washington Monument into his precious White House. "Okay, let's talk this out," Calvin said to her.
"I'll kill you!" Natalie said furiously as she whacked Calvin with the Washington Monument. "This is for you, mom," Natalie said tearfully as she panted from the effort.
Diana, Hal, and Flash suddenly arrived on the scene. "I don't know what you're trying to accomplish, Natalie, but this has to stop right now," Diana told her.
"I'm just getting started!" Natalie raged. "You sliced off my mother's head and you, two, just watched."
Calvin suddenly punched Natalie into the concrete floor. "Listen to me, Natalie. That White House...is sacred. It's my house."
Natalie elbowed him to the face, kneed him in the gut, and backhanded him to the face. Natalie got to her feet, took Calvin by his suit, loaded up her right fist, and punched him to the forehead as hard as she could. The hit was like a gunshot went off and the wind picked up. Calvin remained standing unaffected. "What?" Natalie wondered stunned.
"So, you've awoken your hybrid Kryptonian powers? Did you really it would be enough to defeat me?" Calvin shook his head condescendingly.
Natalie back away having completely underestimated her opponent. "Do you think you're special, Natalie?" Calvin mocked as a crowd of people surrounded them. They all had Kryptonian powers ready to fry her on his order. Natalie stared as a few dozen brainwashed humans with Kryptonian powers surrounded her.
Mon suddenly appeared next to Natalie. "The Insane Prince...or Kara's pet? Which one was it? I'm confused," Calvin mocked.
"Soon," Mon smirked.
"Why wait?" Calvin antagonized.
Mon touched Natalie and the two instantly disappeared.
"Track the bastard!" Calvin ordered Hal.
Hal activated his ring. "He's gone," he shook his head.
"Well...shit," Calvin shook his head. "Fix this shit," he ordered his minions referring to the ruined Washington Monument.
Themyscira
Kara and Mara approached Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons. "I thought you were dead," Hippolyta said confused.
"I got better," Kara replied vaguely. "This is my daughter, Mara."
"If you are an ally to women as your predecessor was, you're a friend of the Amazons," Hippolyta allowed.
"Oh, yeah, I'm totally into equal pay, anti-discrimination, childcare, maternity leave, lesbian marriage, and freedom to choose...so long as it's a boy," Kara lied earning a dirty look from Mara.
"Excellent," Hippolyta said pleased. "Are you here to gain sanctuary against the regime?"
"I wish an audience with Zeus," Kara said seriously.
"The journey to Mount Olympus is difficult for even the greatest warrior," Hippolyta warned.
"I assure you, for me, it will be super-easy, barely an inconvenience," Kara said confidently.
Mon instantly appeared with Natalie on the shores of Themyscira. "Dad!" Natalie shouted going over to him.
"She tried to fight Superman by herself," Mon reported. "Foolish but bold."
"Natalie, you can't ever do that again," John said horrified. "We have to work as a team, alright."
"I just wanted to avenge mom," Natalie said.
"Your mother would have wanted you to live," John told her and then embraced her.
"Is my mom from a different universe here?" Natalie wondered.
"She just went to talk to Zeus," John said.
"Oh," Natalie said looking up as she saw a giant mountain in the middle of the island.
Mount Olympus
Kara, Mon, Kon, Mara, and Brainiac 5 instantly appeared at the gates of Mount Olympus and were stopped by a skeptical Hermes. "I got this ticket from Ares," Kara said handing it to him.
"It's an older ticket but it checks out," he allowed.
The gates were then opened for them. There, Kara's crew interrupted a meeting among the gods with Zeus on this throne. All of the gods were in white robes that glowed with their power, their architecture was perfectly white, and the floor was a visual image of the Earth down below. They all carried ceremonial weapons in their hands. Ares was also present at his station but with black armor.
"What do you want from me, mortal?" Zeus asked Kara.
"Earth is under the rule of an alien who dares think he's a god. A being called Superman. You're going to do anything about this shit?" Kara challenged.
"I sense conspiracy, fraud, and malice within you. What is your endgame?" Zeus asked her.
"Only for the gods of Olympus to reclaim their rightful standing among the mortals," Kara lied.
"You lie. You want us involved in the absurdities of man. Nothing ever good comes from that," Zeus declined.
"There won't be a world to worship you, if you fail to act," Kara argued. "Superheroes must learn to fear you again."
"We will be patient," Zeus replied.
"While you sit on your ass, the seven continents laugh at you. The old ways are done. You would stand by giving speeches while Mount Olympus falls," Kara insulted.
"You are a vain, greedy, cruel girl!" Zeus shouted at her.
"And you're an old man and a fool!" Kara shot back.
Both sides gawked at them with WTF expressions. "Yes, I was a fool for allowing you an audience. You would bring this world to war," Zeus said softly.
Mara then came forth before Zeus with a different approach. "For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles," Mara said to Zeus.
"You dare!" Zeus said enraged.
"You are unworthy of this world, unworthy of your titles, unworthy to those who have worshiped you. Now, I take from you...your power, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost! In the name of God, I cast you out!" Mara declared.
Zeus' armor disintegrated as Mara spoke and then he was finally cast into a portal where he disappeared. "Did...that just happen?" Kara asked amazed.
Mara calmly went past the Greek gods and sat on Zeus' throne. Brainiac 5 came before her to give her some assistance. "I'm going to be making a lot of changes around here. So, it is written, so shall it be," Mara said to Brainiac 5.
"I await your edicts," Brainiac 5 said seriously.
"How come no one else has done this before?" Kon asked incredulously.
"It's a superhero story. No one wants to invoke God's power in a superhero story as if it were real and tangible," Kara explained.
"If it works, it works," Mon said impressed.
"...and sex with animals is punishable by death," Mara continued as Brainiac 5 made furious notes.
"Oh, come on!" the Greek gods protested.
"Silence!" Mara ordered.
"Sweetie, can we get to the part where we have total control of Themyscira's army?" Kara asked impatiently.
"Oh, right. Hermes, Artemis, take command of the Amazon army against the Halls of Justice. Poseidon, you will force Atlantis to break their treaty with Superman under pain of total destruction," Mara ordered.
"What about me? I'm the god of war," Ares protested.
"You're staying here...because I don't trust you," Mara eyed him suspiciously. She then looked around. "Where is Hades?"
"He rarely comes to these meetings," Poseidon said flatly. "You'll have to go to him."
"Then, I shall," Mara said fearlessly.
Hall of Justice
The Amazon army of tens of thousands approached the Hall of Justice with Artemis and Hermes in front. At the steps of the Hall of Justice, Calvin, Diana, Flash, and Hal were present. The Amazons all had special armor, helmets, shields, and swords. "By decree of the Almighty Father, you are ordered to vacate this world or suffer the wrath of the Amazon army of Themyscira," Hermes declared.
"Diana, what is this shit?" Calvin asked unimpressed.
"I'll find out," she said embarrassed.
"Zeus, gods? This is some bullshit," Hal muttered.
"Artemis, I demand answers. You dare march our army against the Halls of Justice. Who ordered this attack?" Diana asked.
"A teenage girl with strong convictions," Artemis said lamely.
"Where's my mother, messenger?" Diana demanded grabbing Hermes.
"You have no dominion over the Earth...," Hermes stammered about to piss himself.
"If my mother is hurt, I'll tear down Olympus," Diana threatened.
"Diana, I'll handle this," Calvin intervened. "Let me speak to Zeus."
"You do not make demands on Zeus. Nor will you speak to Zeus. His ways are mysterious and shit," Hermes stalled.
"Now, I respect all religions but it might get weird if the ruler of Earth has a first, second, and a third lady," he said to Hermes.
"Please, you can't even keep your first wife alive," Hermes rolled his eyes.
Calvin punched Hermes to the gut dropping him. "Warriors of Themyscira, drop your weapons," Diana ordered them. None followed her command.
"You're hopelessly outnumbered," Artemis said confidently.
A platoon of super-powered brainwashed humans in black armor landed behind Calvin. "I'll burn you all down like a magnifying glass to ants," Calvin said to the Amazon army as his eyes glowed red.
Kara, Mon, and John instantly appeared next to the Amazon army. Diana approached a smirking Kara. "I don't know how you managed to pull the gods into your treachery, but you will pay for involving my people," Diana said to her.
"It will be you who will pay for killing me," Kara glared.
"That doesn't make any sense," Diana shot back. "She is not you."
"Do not question my logic or my metaphysics, Diana," Kara warned.
Diana went back to her side frustrated and embarrassed. "What are we going to do?" Flash asked.
"We can't back down, even if they are women...minorities...gay," Hal listed off.
"I see your point, Hal," Calvin allowed. "I will not back down but before I open a can of whoop-ass, are there any other options?" he asked Diana.
"Yes," Diana replied. "Hermes, we do not submit to your decree."
There was a long awkward silence. "She said no. Do we still fight?" Hermes asked Kara.
She gave him a dirty look. "Yeah," she said obviously.
"Instead, we demand this matter be settled with judgment by combat," Diana clarified. "One champion from each side...to the death."
"What? She can't do that. Can she?" Kara asked aghast.
"The gods accept your terms," Hermes readily agreed.
"Hermes, you piece-of-shit, my daughter is your god now," Kara hissed at him.
"We have to keep to tradition or we'll lose this army," Hermes said softly.
"I volunteer," Calvin said stepping up.
"Well...shit," Kara muttered.
"You didn't anticipate this?" Mon chided.
"Fuck you, I'm just working this out as I go along," Kara shot back.
"Who is our challenger?" Hermes asked her.
"I will volunteer," Mon grinned.
"No, it will be Wonder Woman!" Kara declared.
"What? This is bullshit!" Diana shrieked.
"Shouldn't have asked for judgment by combat," Kara said smugly.
"I refuse," Diana glared at her.
"Then, your mother dies," Kara said simply.
Diana went back to Calvin. "I'm sorry. I invoked judgment by combat and walked into their trap."
"I'm sorry, too," Calvin replied.
A tearful Diana swung her sword down on Calvin. He blocked with his forearm shattering the blade and then punched her to the face stunning her. Diana kicked Calvin to the face without effect. Calvin punched her hard to the gut and to the face in response. Diana went for a punch. Calvin cupped her fist and head-butted her down to the ground. Desperate, Diana elbowed Calvin's knee to no effect. Calvin picked her up, placed his thumbs in her eyes blinding her. He then took hold of her right arm and easily broke it. Calvin then fired heat vision on her. Diana's clothes were burned and her skin was red.
"I was holding back, so you would experience one more second of life. For a second of pain is still life," Calvin said to her.
Kara watched uncomfortably as Calvin took his time beating the shit out of Diana. Blood splattered about with each punch. Despite all the punishment, Diana refused to cry out in pain and continued to resist. Kara watched the fight still vengeful for how Diana had killed her counterpart, beheaded her no-less. Yet, her vengeance began to soften as Diana felt betrayed by the man that supposedly loved her. In truth, Calvin appeared cold and calculating as he searched for uninjured parts of her body.
"If she loses, we will have to depart," Hermes warned Kara.
"I understand the rules," Kara said as Diana was a broken bloody mess. Finally, Kara fired a beam through Diana's back killing her instantly as an act of mercy.
"Holy shit," Hal said stunned.
"We must go back to Themyscira," Artemis informed Kara.
"Sure, thanks for coming," Kara said unconcernedly.
"We're kind of losing our army," Mon said slightly concerned.
"Rules are rules," Kara shrugged.
Author's Notes: This chapter was Injustice Year 2 and half of 3 put together and modified. Mara is quoting Romans Chapter 1. Adventures isn't here to convert anyone in the most irresponsible way possible but to point out the lack of Christian spiritualism in DC comics and media. Like, it never occurs to any of these heroes to invoke their faith in God against weird-ass gods of different alien cultures. Not even John Constantine has any real sincerity. A lot of characters were substituted here. I recommend checking out the comic and the animated movie coming out.
