Woden looked down upon Kon from the air. "You were appointed to conquer this world. If you haven't made any progress, I will assume your duties and take over. If you oppose me, I will kill you," he threatened.
"This isn't a good time," Kon said dryly.
"I don't give a shit. We anticipated you would be a fuck-up. That is why they sent me. I have never failed in the conquest of a planet. If you choose to oppose me, you won't survive," Woden told him.
"No, it's you that doesn't understand. Ever since I came to this time period, I wanted to let loose and hit something really really hard," Kon challenged as he quickly went Super Insane.
"Very well," Woden said unimpressed.
Kon gave a scream as he quickly reached Ultra Super Insane. The entire city rattled in a flash of light as Woden transformed to Super Insane 4. The two clashed in the air with Woden having an 80x advantage. Woden took hold of Kon and slammed him through several buildings. When the dust settled, Kon was in the rubble stunned. "At this point, Frigga would be telling you to join us for your own good. She might even tell you that some of the species on this planet might be saved in a zoo. I won't tell you any such rubbish. The truth is, I want you to resist, so I can kick your ass, hybrid," Woden told him.
"I long to feel my fists drenched in blood," Woden said as he clenched his fists.
Kon suddenly sprung up and hit Woden as hard as he could to Woden's face. "You're getting there," Woden said condescendingly.
Kon flew at Woden, picked him off the ground, and smashed him through some buildings as well. However, Woden wasn't phased at all. Upon landing, Woden held Kon by his throat. "More. I want more," he taunted.
Kon slammed Woden's ears greatly irritating him and releasing himself. "Very good," Woden smiled.
"That was a warm-up," Kon taunted and then punched Woden into the air and away from the city. Kon then punched Woden continuously in an effort to get him into outer space where he would finally have the advantage. Unlike the Insane, he could last in space. Woden gave Kon a falcon punch to the gut back into the atmosphere.
"Enough games," Woden said impatiently and then punched Kon to the face giving him a serious black eye.
Kon plummeted to the ground outside the city and felt his eye. "Jesus, that hurt," he remarked. Woden landed on Kon at fast speed and then kicked him along the ground. Woden then kicked Kon into the air and punched him back into the city where he went through the upper floors of a skyscraper. Kon hit the ground with a thud. Woden aggressively went after Kon not even trying at this point.
"Wait, time-out," Kon told him as Woden was about to strike.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me. You think I'll let you surrender? I'm having the time of my life. Come on! Keep going. When I'm done with you, I'll kill everyone else," Woden taunted as he repeatedly punched and slammed Kon.
A punch suddenly hit Woden releasing Kon from his beatdown, it was Mara. Woden took hold of Mara in her Supergirl uniform. She was already Super Insane at full power. "Who the fuck are you? I like to know who I'm dismembering," Woden said to her.
Kon kicked Woden to the gut releasing Mara. "Mara, get out of here!" Kon ordered.
"I'm here to help. Together, we might defeat him," Mara said.
"No, he'll kill you," Kon told her.
"Drop the martyr routine. We live or die together," Mara refused.
"Fool, you're going to need all the help you can get," Woden said as he tackled Kon to the ground. "If you let me kill her, you might be able to form a plan to outwit me. You're an embarrassment. Where is your Insane heart? Until I see it beating in my hand, I won't believe you have it. Show me your strength, your rage!"
Kon headbutted Woden hard and punched him several times in a row. Woden then caught his fist. "Child, if that's the best you got, this is not going to end well for you," Woden mocked.
Woden proceeded to give Kon a royal ass-kicking. "Up until now, I've only been playing with my new toy. I tire of this game. Not that I'm not having fun but I'm starting to question why I was sent here. This task is beneath me. Beating your ass is too easy."
Woden repeatedly slammed Kon into the pavement, the concrete sidewalk, and into cars. With each blow, Kon was getting progressively broken. "I've met your father. I never spent much time with him, but I knew him when he was younger. He showed so much promise. Now, he's dead. Heard his execution was finally ordered before I got here. Sad really. I would love to have seen his face after I told him I killed your ass."
"My father...," Kon muttered.
Mara found an opening and kicked Woden away. "Why did you come back? Insane fight alone," Kon said to her barely able to move from his injuries.
"But Kryptonians fight together," Mara reminded him. "You can be more like him or more like our mother. What will it be?"
Kon eyed the ruthless amoral Insane and then back to Mara with her kind compassionate expression. "I'm going to split you in half, bitch, and eat your heart," Woden said to Mara as he came back. Woden pointed his hand at Kon and hit him with an air shockwave that tossed him away down the street.
Mara bravely stood her ground against Woden and was hit hard to the face stunning her. Woden took hold of her arm and leg and placed her body above his head to tear her in two. "Do you feel your body tearing apart? Oh, I do. I'm going to break your vertebra and ripped your back muscles. Then, your skin will stretch to its breaking point. This is going to be amazing."
"No!" Kon screamed as he hit Woden to the gut releasing Mara.
"Faster than I anticipated. No matter," Woden said as he gave Kon another beat down. With Mara on the ground hurt and unconscious, Woden kicked Kon into the ocean. Woden cocked his fist back and punched Kon so hard he went through an American battlecruiser causing a massive explosion and then hit an island cliffside.
DEO Fortress
Elisa woke up in her hospital bed with a cast on her leg. Her parents were on either side of her. "Elisa!" her mother exclaimed upon seeing her wake up.
"Call the nurse, she's waking up," her father shouted.
"Where's Kon? What happened?" Elisa asked as she got her bearings. "Wait...how long have I been out?"
"Two hours," her father told her.
"Elisa, honey, this is a special place. They told us not to worry," her mother consoled her.
Elisa then noticed Kon getting his ass kicked on constant replay on the TV. "Oh my God, what is that?" she wondered of Woden.
"Oh, that poor boy is fighting one of his own kind again," her mother said unconcernedly.
"He's going to kill him. I have to go," Elisa said alarmed.
"You can't be doing this. You could make your injuries worse," Brainiac 5 said as he entered.
Elisa summoned her ring to her hand and activated its power. Immediately, her body was covered in a pink-colored suit, the room was overwhelmed with pink light, and her injuries became inconsequential. "I have to go. I love you," Elisa said as she teleported away in a flash of light.
Against the cliff wall, Kon punched Woden back getting some distance between them.
"Oh, fuck no," Kon realized as Elisa showed up as a Violet Lantern. "Get out of here now!" Kon shouted at her as he tried to take hold of Woden.
Woden merely knife-handed Kon's leg, breaking it cleanly. Elisa put up a pink shield between herself and Woden as she stared at Kon's injury with horror. "Bitch, please," Woden said as he clapped the air breaking apart Elisa's shield. Woden gave her an uppercut to the face stunning her and then a knife hand to the gut that went straight through her.
"So pretty. What a waste," Woden said as Elisa lost power and fell to the ground.
Kon caught Elisa and realized the damage. "No, Elisa, please. Don't talk. I can get help," Kon said to her as he lowered her to the ground.
Elisa struggled to breathe as she bled out. "Please, just keep breathing," Kon said to her.
Woden eyed the two with a sadistic smile. "She must have really cared for you to do what she did. Surely, she wasn't stupid enough to think she could actually hurt me. She must have done this all for you. Quite admirable if not reckless for herself and her unborn child."
Kon simply stared at him. "Oh, you didn't sense the small ki bubble growing inside her. You should be more attentive," Woden lectured.
"The fuck you say?" Kon asked incredulously.
Elisa saw flashes of herself with her newborn infant, playing the part of a mom, and living the dream with Kon. She could see what her daughter would have become. "I'm sorry, Kon," she gasped realizing the future she was about to lose.
"No," Kon shook his head tearfully. Elisa then passed out dead in his arms.
"I should thank you, Kon-El, while I have the chance. Really, from the bottom of my heart. It's not often I get to cut loose like this. This has been fun," Woden taunted. "Dead? Good, now I can have your full attention now."
Kon wiped away the blood from Elisa's lips and made her face presentable. He looked down at the hole in her gut realizing that had been his unborn child, now completely destroyed. He had killed so many for duty and pleasure, stole, manipulated, mocked, and never took any kind of morality seriously. Now, in front of him, were two innocent people: Elisa and his unborn child. Kon stared in silence as Elisa's pink ring floated up into the air and went into space to find a new owner making Elisa's death completely final in Kon's mind.
Kon got back to his feet, wiped away his tears, and tried to look presentable despite his injuries and torn uniform. "I'm actually from the future. So, believe me when I say you won't live tomorrow," Kon told him.
"After all I've done, all that you have endured at my hand, you still threaten me, child? I dare say, child, you impress me," Woden laughed.
"You've seen nothing yet," Kon glared and then screamed in rage as he felt triggered deep down. His golden aura flared out furiously and static electricity sparked around his body. This was no longer a game but real life. Woden had taken from him his own unique family and now he was pissed. Ascending to Super Insane 2, Kon doubled his power level instantly.
"Well, okay then. Do your worst," Woden said still unimpressed.
Even at Super Insane 2, Kon was still forty times behind Woden. His left leg was also useless requiring him to fly at all times to move. Woden and Kon clashed at the fist shattering Kon's arm and slightly damaging Woden's. "Now, we're talking," Woden chuckled.
Kon punched Woden to the face with his other arm. Woden took hold of Kon and pinned his arms to his side. "Getting pissed off doesn't make you stronger than me. That's not how this works. You don't stand a chance," Woden taunted.
Kon bit into Woden's exposed shoulder and tore a piece out. "The fuck?" Woden cried out and beat Kon down to the ground. Woden gave Kon the beating of his life until a heat vision beam showered Woden's entire body in red light except for his head. When the beam faded after a second, the fur, skin, and clothing on Woden's body had been burned off revealing blood and muscle. Woden had been nearly flayed alive with only his head spared. Woden fell to the ground in terrible pain as his body went into shock.
Karina in her Red Daughter uniform walked towards Woden and Kon. She was glowing as she went Prime. Realizing her hit had devastated Woden, she powered back down. Karina eyed Elisa's body sympathetically and saw the pain on Kon's face. "He's all yours," she said to him.
Kon nodded and attacked Woden with his good arm. Woden was still able to fight and clasped fingers with him. Woden overpowered Kon, breaking his knuckles. With both arms and a leg out of commission, Kon headbutted Woden hard to the forehead. "You still having fun?"
"I take the good with the bad," Woden chuckled as he lost his nose and some of his teeth.
Kon repeatedly headbutted him until Woden's face was totally destroyed with a collapsed forehead, two imploded eyes, a broken off nose, a broken jaw, teeth, and blood everywhere. Kon then collapsed on the ground and powered down. "Elisa? Hold on...I'm coming," Kon said delusionally.
Karina watched as Kon crawled towards Elisa's body still in disbelief she was gone. Brainiac 5 walked up to Karina and witnessed Kon trying to revive Elisa. "Mara has been treated. Kon will need more work," Brainiac 5 said as he analyzed Kon's broken leg, broken arms, broken wrists and fingers, broken ribs, and a skull fracture.
"He's going to need more than just physical treatment," Karina noted.
Brainiac 5 nodded as he saw Elisa's body. Karina casually cut off Woden's head with a heat vision beam to make totally sure he was dead for good.
DEO Fortress
Upon arriving back on Earth and seeing the damage to Metropolis, Kara and Mon rushed to the DEO Fortress and found Mara and Kon in hospital rooms. "They're both in stable condition. Metropolis received significant damage. There were casualties," Brainiac 5 informed them.
"The enemy?" Mon asked.
"Deceased," Brainiac 5 informed him.
"We need to work on Karina's response time," Kara said dryly.
The two went inside Mara's room and found her resting with solar lamps and healing rays over her. She awoke and noticed her parents in her room. "Oh, Mara, you were so brave," Kara said to her.
"Kon was hurt bad," Mara said softly.
"We know. He'll be healed quickly," Kara assured her.
"No, no, he won't," Mara replied and then went back to sleep.
Kara and Mon gave each other concerned looks and then went to Kon's room. Kon was in worse shape but was healing rapidly. His face was still a bit swollen from the beating he received. "You did well to hold down the fort while we were gone," Mon said proudly.
"I killed the bastard," Kon told him.
"I heard. That's using your head," Mon said impressed.
"I even ascended to the next level," Kon added.
"Excellent," Mon said pleased.
Kon then eyed his mother. "Can I talk to mother...alone," he requested.
"Of course, son," Mon allowed and then exited the room.
Kara sat down next to her son's bed. "She's dead. She defended me and now she's dead," Kon told her with tears in his eyes.
"Elisa, you mean?" Kara assumed.
Kon nodded. "This show of empathy for others is good to see from you, Kon," Kara said honestly.
"She was with child...my child," Kon revealed.
Kara gave him a haunted look. "I'm so sorry, Kon," she said immediately and without reservation. This wasn't the time to lecture him on the why and how. Her son was grieving for his lost family after a traumatic battle. This is what Mara had meant by Kon being hurt.
"I couldn't cry in front of father," Kon said to her.
"We can cry together," Kara said as she embraced her son.
Metropolis
There was a grand funeral at the Metropolis Catholic Cathedral. Several hundred showed up all wearing black. They were the Super-Insane family, friends, and allies, the Vindicator recruits, friends and family of Elisa, and numerous members of the Violet Lantern Corps. The Violent Lantern Corps members wore black while still wearing their rings. They were all different exotic alien races. At the altar was an open casket of Elisa. Her body had been healed and perfected by Brainiac 5 to make it presentable. Her facial injuries from the fight were gone. She was placed in a pink dress with her hands connecting at her waist.
Queen Ago'Po came before Kara and gave her a respectful nod. "Elisa's name and that of her child will be remembered forever as ring bearers in our archives. Pray tell, what was the child's name?"
"Ariella," Kara replied.
"So...it was a female child," Ago'Po said grieved. She extended her hands out to Kara in a gesture of peace. The two were at odds with each other lacking mutual respect. Kara held her hands out as well and then the two embraced.
Brainiac 5 took to the podium and eyed the diverse crowd in front of him. He felt the need to keep this simple and universal. "This is my commandment, that you love one another as you love yourselves. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down one's life for their friends," he said to the crowd. He then glanced at the casket.
"Before you were fully formed in the womb, I knew you. Before you were to be born, I set you apart. At your conception, I appointed you to be a prophet, not in this world but in the next," Brainiac 5 said referring to Ariella.
Brainiac 5 then concluded the ceremony. The casket was buried just outside Metropolis with the tombstone having both Elisa and Ariella's names on it. For Ariella, her birthdate was the day of her estimated conception. On the tombstone, the Violet Lantern symbol was engraved in the stone.
After the funeral, Kon and Mara had a chat. "I'm sorry, Mara. I'm sorry for everything that happened," Kon said sincerely. "I fucked up."
"No, I'm the one that should be apologizing to you. These past few months, I've scolded you, yelled at you. I thought I knew better, that you were misguided, corrupted. I was wrong. You were right the whole time," Mara admitted.
"In what way?" Kon asked confused.
"If someone hurts my family, someone I love...if there's another villain out there putting lives at risk who's just going to keep coming at me until they finally succeed, I won't hesitate to kill them," Mara said resolved.
DEO Fortress
At the DEO, everyone suited up for battle. "Karina can stay on Earth as reserves. As for us, we're going to find those Insane bastards and take them out," Kara said. "Do you have their last position?" she asked Brainiac 5.
"A general idea," Brainiac 5 said vaguely.
"We'll find them," Mon said confidently.
"You two are to just act as decoys and distractions. These Insane warriors are too powerful for anyone but me and your father to handle," Kara ordered.
Mon, Kon, and Mara walked towards Kara from three different approaches. "As you wish, mother," Mara bowed her head.
"Kon, you still fucked up? You can stay behind if you need to," Kara said gently.
Kon considered the idea thoughtfully. "Solar flash," he said creating an intense flash of light that blinded Kara.
"The fuck?" Kara wondered painfully.
Mara placed Kryptonite handcuffs on Kara weakening her. Mon then instantly teleported himself and Kara into a Kryptonite cell and then teleported himself out of the cell. "What the fuck is this? What the fuck is going on?" Kara demanded outraged.
"This is an Insane matter. For honor's sake, you can't come with us," Mon told her. Kon and Mara then entered the room.
"Fuck honor. You'll be killed," Kara said horrified. "Are you all in agreement with this? Mara, you must know how stupid this is."
"The Kryptonian in me knows the risks involved but the Insane in me demands vengeance. And we can't have our vengeance with you with us," Mara replied.
"I am your Supreme Leader, your mother. You will do as I say. Release me now!" Kara ordered them.
Mon, Kon, and Mara stood their ground. "One way or another, we'll see each other again," Mara said to her.
"Let me out! Don't leave!" Kara shouted and banged on the walls of the cell as they all exited.
Space
The Vindicator cruiser headed towards the last known location of Insane presence. Exiting warp, the cruiser went past a planet with an atmosphere. Brainiac 5, Mon, Kon, and Mara were on the bridge ready for action in their Insane uniforms. Brainiac 5 scanned the planet for life signs and found nothing. Suddenly, the red alert alarms went off. "What is it?" Kon asked.
"An unknown object is on a collision course with us," Brainiac 5 said. "It's moving too fast for me to get a reading on it."
"It's them," Mon said, certain of it.
Brainiac 5 placed the ship on auto-pilot and cloak as they all exited the bridge and into space. They were then confronted by Sunn, Twi, and Thur all Super Insane 4. "So good to see you again, Prince Mon. And you've brought your hybrid brats with you, too," Sunn said insultingly. "My orders are simple: to slaughter you all."
"We are at a disadvantage," Brainiac 5 sensed.
"Can't be helped," Mon said as he powered up to Super Insane 4.
Kon flashed to Super Insane 2 and went straight for Sunn with bloodlust. "Kon, no!" Mara shouted at him. Sunn backhanded Kon away stunning him.
"You'll be a decent warm-up," Sunn mocked him.
Mara flashed to Super Insane and went to assist when she was placed in a hold by Twi. Brainiac 5 activated all of his laser cannons on his arms and shoulder cannons and fired on Thur with everything he had. Still, it made no discernable impact."My weapons are ineffective," Brainiac 5 reported as he dodged Thur's strikes. Brainiac 5 then reconfigured his arms into large clubs and hit Thur to the chin as hard as he could with little effect.
Sunn went for Mon and took hold of him. "Prince Mon, the traitor, I can't believe my luck. I get to kill you and your family. What have I done to deserve such fortune?" Sunn taunted. Mon and Sunn headbutted each other stunning them both.
Kon went for the stunned Sunn and hit him repeatedly to the head with his fist and elbow. Sunn easily threw Kon off of him. "I guess you're not as strong as I thought. Let's wrap this up," Sunn said of Kon.
Mara and Twi clashed in space with energy blasts. Thur smashed Brainiac 5's face with his fist. "You can't hope to stand against us if these are the finest soldiers you have," Thur said dismissively. Mon punched Thur off of Brainiac 5.
"Are you still functional?" Mon asked.
"I can repair myself," Brainiac 5 replied as his face rebuilt itself.
Twi gave Mara a hard uppercut stunning her. "Hands off my daughter," Mon said as he kicked Twi away.
"Finally, I've waited to get my hands on you since our last encounter. You should have made sure I was dead," Twi mocked.
"A mistake I won't repeat," Mon assured him.
Brainiac 5 and Kon punched Sunn in the face at the same time with little impact. Mon placed Twi in a headlock while Mara punched Twi to the body repeatedly. Frustrated, Sunn and Thur fired energy beams in high concentration at their opponents. Mara was hit a few times, fell out of Super Insane, and plummeted towards the planet. "Can't breathe," Mara muttered as she fell.
"Look at this: The weakest strays from the herd ensuring her own demise," Sunn mused.
Kon punched him to the face only to be punched away with greater force. "I'll be saving you for last," Sunn taunted and then pursued Mara towards the surface. "Mara!" Kon cried out as he went after Sunn. Grabbing Sunn's boot, Kon slammed Sunn into the planet's surface creating a large crater. Mara hit the ground and tumbled a bit before settling.
Kon got on top of Sunn and went for a stranglehold. "That knocked the wind out of you, didn't it? Or did you just come to the surface to get a breath?" Kon asked him. Sunn struggled against Kon as he tried to catch his breath. Kon then took Sunn back towards space where the Insane couldn't breathe. It was the only advantage he had against the more powerful Insane warrior.
"What is this supposed to do? I got a breath," Sunn mocked Kon. "You really think I can't make you let me go?"
In space, beams of light went back-and-forth between Brainiac 5, Mon, Twi, and Thur. In the firefight, Brainiac 5 was quickly destroyed. Mon handled Twi and Thur evenly while wondering what had become of Kon and Mara. In the upper atmosphere of the planet, Kon continued to push Sunn into space. Sunn resisted, sending them back into the atmosphere, and then gave Kon a devastating punch to the ribs. Kon refused to let go of Sunn desperately trying to get him back into space.
"I'm not letting go," Kon told him.
Sunn punched Kon again shattering his ribs and then crashing them both into the ground. Sunn then fired a beam through Kon's gut and out the other side. As Kon fell to the ground mortally wounded, Sunn got on top of him to strangle him to death with one hand while twisting his hand into Kon's gut to give him greater agony. "No, no, no," Kon said softly as he was about to pass out and die.
"This is the end for you, hybrid," Sunn sneered as he scrambled Kon's guts with one hand and strangled him with the other. Kon then lost consciousness as he died. Seeing the battle still ongoing in space, Sunn flew off.
A few moments passed as Kon's body remained lifeless on the ground. The air appeared to vibrate and then space opened as a feminine figure emerged. Wearing slender black armor, Reign looked upon Kon with a condescending look. She knelt down next to his body and felt his forehead as she communicated with his dying mind.
"For you, this is the only life you have ever known. For me, every time your parents restart the timeline, I have to experience the entire span of a thousand years. It's been several times now and no doubt they'll do it again with your death. It's more than this annoyance. I have a debt to be repaid. You see, I killed your father, your mother, with a certain satisfaction I might add. I used your own sister to do it. Now, I offer the same gift to you, Kon-El. I will give you the power to defeat your foes, immortality, and my experience. If you accept, you will have to acknowledge forever your Kryptonian heritage," Reign said to him.
Kon simply stared ahead looking lifeless. Reign smiled amused as she heard Kon's last thoughts and then she let him die in front of her. After a brief pause, Kon's body became perfectly healed. With red eyes, he tensed up creating a furious red aura around him. His hair became bright red as he ascended to Super Insane God. Reign smiled as she felt the power of her new Super Insane body. She then released Kon's mind allowing him to pass out on the ground.
The Insane orbited the planet in their own scout ship looking for the cloaked cruiser. "Where are they? They couldn't have just disappeared," Twi remarked.
"We kicked their asses. I count that as a win," Thur said.
Sunn looked over Twi and Thur's injuries from the fight. Twi had a bloody nose and mouth while Thur had similar damage. "This is no victory. We're stronger than them and it ended in a mere draw!" he said pissed off. "We even had the element of surprise. They attempted to exploit our weakness. We can't be space in for too long whereas the hybrids can."
"So, do we stay out here and look for them?" Twi wondered.
"We cut our losses and rejoin the fleet," Sunn said disappointedly.
Apokalips
Saet came before the throne of Darkseid with Desaad and Granny Goodness looking on. "You have destroyed our planet, reduced our race to a handful. For this, Insane culture demands we spill your blood," Saet said to him as he took a knee before him.
"Yes," Darkseid grinned amusedly at Saet's rage.
"However, we lack the strength to overthrow you, so we ask to be in your service once again. In return for our service, we request worthy foes to slaughter," Saet said.
"For thousands of years, there has been a cold war between Apokalips and New Genesis. Forefather and I have agreed not to attack each other. We even traded sons to ensure our pact. I'm not telling you to attack New Genesis nor am I telling you to burn it to ash," Darkseid said to him.
"I understand, my lord," Saet replied.
Desaad reached out and disassembled Saet's eye-piece in mid-air. He then reconfigured it and placed it back into Saet's eyesocket. "You know have access to the omega universe, a universe of pure energy. It is but a small sample of my power, but it should prove useful should you ever encounter meddlesome Kryptonians," Darkseid said to him.
"Thank you, my lord," Saet said appreciatively.
"Now, go," Darkseid ordered him away.
Space
Kon eventually awoke groggy and confused on the cruiser. "I'll...kill...you," he said incoherently.
"You're onboard the Vindicator. Your father and sister are alive and well," Brainiac 5 informed him.
"And the Insane?" Kon asked.
"Retreated," Brainiac 5 replied.
Kon sighed not satisfied with that. Mon and Mara entered the room. "We have to find a way to get them into space. It's our only edge," Kon said frustrated.
"Even an Insane can live in space long enough to kill you both. I shouldn't have brought you two. That was a cluster-fuck," Mon admitted.
"You can't fight three Insane at the same level. You would have died," Mara said reasonably.
"Maybe, or maybe I hold back because I'm too focused on you two," Mon considered. "I know I can be better than this."
"Is there any way we can transform to Super Insane 4?" Mara asked.
Mon shook his head. "It's impossible for hybrids. You don't even have the genes necessary to produce tails."
"So, we'll never surpass them?" Kon said bitterly.
"Not with my blood. Perhaps, with your mother's," Mon sighed. "As much as it hurts me to say this, your path to power may be through your Kryptonian heritage."
"The radiation exposure you two would need in order for you two to be equivalent to Super Insane 4 would kill you. It must be done over a longer period of time," Brainiac 5 said to them.
"We'll have to divide and conquer them," Mon said.
New Genesis-Celestrial City
Highfather addressed Orion, Bekka, Lightray, Metron, and Mister Miracle. "I have called you here today because I sense a great disturbance in the...," he began.
Suddenly, the city was attacked by several Insane warriors all powered up to Super Insane 4. The Insane immediately targeted the Asylum of the Gods and the Singularity Stockade releasing crazy-as-fuck prisoners onto the city. They also made sure to stir up the Bug Mound creating chaos at the ground level as pissed-off giant bugs swarmed. The city, itself, was then attacked with energy beams blasting apart skyscrapers. Highfather and his crew were suddenly crushed in building debris. The Insane targeted the powerful magnets that kept the city above the surface causing it to gradually fall.
Highfather tossed the debris off of himself. "What betrayal is this? It must be Darkseid," he assumed.
Saet suddenly slammed his feet on top of Highfather only to get punched away. Highfather, thinking he had defeated the Insane warrior, then went off to gather his forces. Saet grabbed his foot in midair and slammed Highfather back down to the ground. Saet was suddenly hit by a beam from Lightray. "What the fuck?" Saet wondered.
"Grab Highfather while I kick this Insane's ass," Orion ordered.
Orion punched Saet hard to the gut while Lightray picked up Highfather and brought him to safety. Frigga suddenly hit Lightray and took him away. "I'll see your weak-ass body split at the seams," Frigga said to him as he crushed him in a bear hug.
Highfather chopped Frigga to the shoulder forcing her to release Lightray. Meanwhile, Saet and Orion battled at full power creating massive destruction around them. "You dare to defy the Insane!" Saet spat.
"Dude, you're clueless. Your race is nearly extinct," Orion shot back.
Saet fired an omega beam from his optic frying Orion on the spot. Orion quickly recovered and gave Saet an uppercut. Frigga grabbed Highfather and Lightray by the throats with the intent to bash their heads against each other. Mon suddenly appeared in the air with Kon and Mara already powered up. Mon swooped in and punched Frigga off Highfather.
"Fucking traitor. You're a disgrace!" Frigga said as she punched Mon away.
"You're no match for me, new god!" Saet said to Orion.
"Then, why am I kicking your ass?" Orion asked as he gave Saet a falcon punch. Orion and Mon worked together to beat back the Insane warriors forcing their retreat.
Kon and Mara fired on the Insane warships creating massive explosions through their hulls. The Insane warships then began to fall towards the city. "That could be an issue," Kon said dryly.
"We have to get those ships into space," Mara said alarmed.
"Aren't these people immortal?" Kon wondered.
"Yes, but think of the real estate value," Mara said looking around.
Kon and Mara went towards the falling Insane ships and lifted them towards space. The Insane warriors realized they were now outmatched and retreated towards Apokalips. With New Genesis and Apokalips a binary planetary system, they didn't have long to travel through space. Despite the incredible property damage to the city, the New Genesis population celebrated their victory.
On the new Insane homeworld, the five remaining Insane warriors came together: Sunn, Twi, Thur, Frigga, and Saet. Aside from these five were forty or so other warriors not capable of reaching Super Insane. Beyond that, the Insane had their slave minions in the thousands. Sunn came before Saet's throne. "With our failure to take New Genesis, we have now made enemies with Darkseid. We are surrounded by foes and we are so few."
"The greater glory we will have when we succeed," Saet said unconcernedly. "They will come to us when we are at full strength, and we will then crush them."
The four others were not overly convinced but obeyed nonetheless.
Author's Notes: In Invincible, Atom Eve is basically immortal able to resurrect after every death. This eliminates all tension for her and allows for a cheat whereby Invincible doesn't age and Eve can just resurrect continuously. The death of the unborn child and how that child is honored was also meant to slap the Invincible comic for nonchalantly having Eve get an abortion which is quickly dismissed.
So, this is the end for Elisa in Adventures. It is true that her pregnancy may have made her feel closer to Kon but she may have also had genuinely loved him as well. Ariella is a child Supergirl character from the comics. I know the character of Elisa was a plot device to just make Jonathon sad and isolated in Superman and Lois, but I hope I managed to cover a lot of philosophical ground with her character here.
