Nia was in a cliche dark forest making her way towards her mother wearing a glowing white gown. Despite the old woman being slow and feeble, Nia couldn't catch up to her and got her blue dress caught in various branches. An owl flew through the air and landed on Nia's mother's arm. "Mom! It's Nia! Come back! I need you!" Nia shouted at her. "Please wait!"
The old woman turned back to look at her with confusion. "Mom? You're not my son."
"Wait...what?" Nia thought she misheard and then disappeared in a flash of light.
Nyxly then appeared behind a tree wondering how Nia had escaped her nightmare.
At Kelly's apartment, the Super-Friends engaged in a guessing game using only one phrase. Hank was present with a bowl of popcorn he had no intention of sharing, a wine glass, and a look that indicated he didn't give a shit for this game. Nia looked troubled while Kara and Alex had their game face on. "And go," Kara said using a stopwatch.
"She should be queen," Kelly said.
"Megan Markle," Alex said instantly.
"The fuck did I just hear?" Kara asked dismayed.
"It's not about what you think is objectively correct, it's about knowing how your partner is going to answer," Kelly explained.
"So, you knew Alex would immediately come up with that bullshit?" Kara asked incredulously.
"Kara, back off," Alex snapped.
"Okay...pizza, moon, amore," Kelly listed off.
"Dean Martin," Alex said quickly.
"Easy as fuck," Kara muttered.
"Typewriters," Kelly continued.
"Tom Hanks," Alex guessed.
"Yes, babe!" Kelly confirmed excitedly.
"What in the world?" Hank wondered.
"Tom Hanks has a collection of typewriters from when he was a teenager," Kara explained to Hank.
"If you're so smart, why didn't you win?" Alex asked scornfully.
"Because my partner, Nia, passed the fuck out," Kara noted. "So, is this supposed to establish that you two know each other really well to the point of being psychic?"
"Well, we are starting to finish each other's...," Kelly began.
"Sandwiches," Alex finished for her.
"That's a Frozen reference," Kara said helpfully for Hank's benefit.
"Well, living together seems to suit you two," Hank noted.
"Well, thanks," Alex said appreciatively.
"Couldn't help but notice you have two furnished bedrooms," Kara said looking around.
"It's a guest room," Alex said defensively.
"Alright, another round," Kara insisted and then stared at Nia asleep on the couch. "Nia! Wake the fuck up! It's game time."
"Sorry, I just haven't been sleeping well since my mother's two-year anniversary," Nia said.
"Well, you're on the verge of being fired off this team. Hank, you ready to go," Kara said insensitively.
"That's cheating. He's psychic," Alex rejected.
"So, how's the social work going?" Hank asked.
"Oh, I love it. It can be pretty intense though with a ten-year-old alien boy with EMP powers," Kelly said.
Kara eyed Alex to see if there was any reaction to this. "His only family is a brother that is in prison," Kelly added.
"A heartbreaking story of someone I know nothing about," Kara agreed.
"Well, if anyone can help him, it's you, babe," Alex said. "Because empathy is your super-power."
"Aw, that's really cute," Kelly said appreciatively.
"I'm sorry. I have to hurl," Kara said rushing to the bathroom.
"Alright, Nia, you're on my team. Show these girls how it's done," Hank said.
"I'm a girl, too, right?" Nia questioned.
There was a long awkward silence. "Sure you are," Alex assured her.
"Oh, God," Kara said as she raced back to the bathroom.
The next morning, Kara and Nia were in Cat's office at the Daily Planet. "What do you Super-Friends do for fun?" Cat asked randomly.
"Various game nights," Kara replied.
"Do you never go bowling, the movies together, laser tag...," Cat listed off.
"Oh, no, that would be too fun and exciting," Kara shot down.
"I just figured you would be the type to be more adventurous," Cat said giving her a subtle jab.
"Oh, it's Alex that's boring as fuck. I go shooting, racing, skydiving, mountain climbing, river canoeing, you name it with Mon," Kara clarified.
"And what's her problem?" Cat glared at Nia.
"She's got insomnia. It's one of her superpowers," Kara said as Nia continued to yawn and looked like she was about to pass out.
"Another tax write-off," Cat muttered dismissively as she wrote a memo to herself.
"But she can dream the future which could be useful intelligence for our business model," Kara said in her defense.
"Alright, I'll allow it," Cat said skeptically.
"Ms. Grant, I just want to say how much of an honor it is to...," Nia said awkwardly.
"Zip it," Cat ordered her. "Do you remember that interview you gave Dreamer at Catco?" she asked Kara.
"Not ringing a bell," Kara admitted.
"Every time there is a Super-Friend interview, our tracker will skyrocket. But we can't do it every day, mind you. It must be a little here, a little there," Cat said reasonably. "Also, are you aware that Catco jumped to number three since they fired you?"
"Are you insinuating that me getting fired was a good thing for Catco? You can go fuck yourself," Kara said peeved.
"Just an interesting coincidence," Cat smirked. "Turn her back on."
Kara snapped her fingers in front of Nia waking her up. "I am so sorry, Ms. Grant," Nia said lamely.
"Sleep on your own time, not mine," Cat said crossly. "Now, I want an interview with either yourself as Supergirl or one of your lackeys within twenty-four hours."
"Or what?" Kara rolled her eyes.
"I'll send you to the classified ads department," Cat threatened.
"Damn," Kara said stunned. She got up and then dragged a sleepy Nia out of the office. As she did, she got a radio message from Hank. "Supergirl, report to my position," Hank ordered.
Kara gently placed Nia on the floor underneath a desk and then took off.
Supergirl landed next to Hank in front of a warehouse. In front of the warehouse was a truck with a cargo container ripped open. "I've been monitoring the MPD scanners about a series of truck robberies. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until now," Hank said.
"Do we have another Magneto on our hands?" Kara asked.
"If there's one on the loose, we'll have to take of him together," Hank said concernedly.
"You find him and I'll take him out," Kara said and then noticed saliva slime on the cargo container. "Saliva that turns things invisible?"
"It's an Obscuran," Hank identified.
"Since when do these two work together?" Kara wondered.
"Depends on what they're stealing," Hank figured. "So far, they've stolen computer boards, motor oil, steel casing, and...ammonium nitrate."
"Looks like we have a bomb maker cell in town," Kara concluded.
At the Tower, Hank, Kara, and Alex met up. "According to the manifest, it was carrying 5000 lbs of ammonium nitrate," Hank said.
"Holy shit," Kara said amazed.
"That much explosive could level a 50-story building," Alex said. "We can track down the Obscuran's energy signature with that residue you found and hopefully the bombmakers."
"We need to inform all law enforcement agencies in the area," Kara said.
"Already done," Hank said.
Kelly entered the Tower looking troubled. "Are you okay?" Alex asked her.
"The alien orphan Joey that I was telling you about, he's acting out because he believes his brother is overusing his EMP powers at his work-release program at the Van Kull Prison. I'm worried about him," Kelly said.
"The Second Chance program," Kara identified.
"That's why I'm here. Joey says that if his brother Orlando uses his powers too much, he could die," Kelly said concernedly.
"Maybe little Joey is a total liar. That program is amazing. It contracts with clothing manufacturers to give jobs to incarcerated workers. Those prisoners are treated really well," Kara said defensively.
"Why would Joey's brother need to use his EMP powers if he's making clothing?" Alex questioned.
"I don't know but something bad is happening to Orlando and it's affecting Joey. I need to find out," Kelly said passionately. "Can you help me to talk to the warden?" she asked Kara.
"Let's not be too hasty about this. I think the bomb threat is a lot more important than whatever this is," Kara said dismissively.
"You own that prison, don't you?" Alex accused.
There was a long awkward silence in the room. "Kara, how could you? You're using prisoners for sweatshop labor. Prisoners, you put there in the first place, no doubt. That's a conflict of interest," Alex scolded.
"In the future, I control all of the prisoners and I am completely humane about it," Kara told her off.
"Kara, if you're as humane as you say, show me," Kelly invited.
Kara eyed her knowing she was being manipulated but she also wanted the chance to show off her prison industrial complex model. "Alright then. Hank, keep me informed on our bombmakers."
"Will do," Hank promised.
Kara and Kelly came by the Van Kull Prison and visited the warden. "Kara Wayne, It is always a pleasure to have your surprise visits."
"Hello, warden. This is my future sister-in-law, Kelly Olsen," Kara introduced.
"I didn't know you had a brother," the ultra-traditionalist Japanese-American warden said curiously.
"I don't like to talk about Alex too much if you know what I mean," Kara smirked.
"He must not be too much of a shame of the family to marry someone as beautiful and professional as you, Miss Olsen," the warden complimented.
"Well, you know, it's all relative," Kara shrugged.
"Okay, I have to correct the record here. Alex and I are women...we're gay," Kelly clarified.
The warden frowned, and Kara looked away awkwardly. "Yes...well, we're changing lives here in thanks to your generous support, Mrs. Wayne," the warden said. "Since Wayne Industries has come out in support of us, we've had corporations and foundations beating down our door to give us money."
"That's great. Most people see prison as a way to just punish people," Kelly said brightly.
"I assure you, Miss Olsen, we punish," the warden said seriously. "But we also respect them. We teach them new skills which help them reenter society as valuable and productive members of society."
"We need to see Orlando Davis," Kara said getting to the point.
"All visits have to be requested two weeks in advance," the warden declined.
"I'm cutting the bureaucratic red tape. I want to see him now," Kara ordered.
"He's already left for his job," the warden replied.
Kara and Kelly drove to the worksite at Sumerlin Industries. There, a prison officer lined up a platoon of prisoners in formation. "You are enemies of civilized society. You will be treated...accordingly. You will help us make baby clothes. Anyone who does not work will be terminated...from the program. There's much talent among you. We have an opera singer. We have a chef and we have an Olympic athlete," Officer Larry Chapman said to the platoon.
"Who is the Olympic athlete?" Larry demanded.
One reluctantly raised his hand. "Take a lap," Larry ordered.
The prisoner rolled his eyes and ran around the workshop. Once he was done with his lap, he went back into formation. "Clock in," Larry ordered the platoon. They went inside the workshop and proceeded to clock in.
"Nothing too nefarious so far," Kelly allowed.
Five workers, however, exited the workshop after they had clocked in and went into a van. There, they took off to another location. "Where the fuck are those guys going?" Kara wondered. "I got this," Kara said and then took off as Supergirl.
Kara tracked the van to a factory on the other side of the city. Hank arrived at the same time right next to her. "I tracked the Obscuran energy signature to this spot. Chances are, the Metalomite is here, too," Hank said.
"And a Toradine and a Dynamorph," Kara added. "They're work-release prisoners on an unauthorized trip. One of them is the brother, Kelly was talking about."
"Why are they here?" Hank wondered.
"Well, they're being forced to steal against their will. That complicates things a little," Kara said.
"You figured you would just kill them all and be done with it," Hank said bluntly.
"Yeah," Kara sighed.
One of the aliens formed a forcefield, one broke the chain on the fence and ripped off the door to a cargo truck, and another blasted off the sealed doors leading to a nuclear waste stockpile. "They're building a dirty nuke," Hank realized.
"Well...no shit," Kara said obviously.
Kara and Hank intervened surprising the five aliens and Officer Larry. "It's Supergirl! Pull out," one of them said.
"Ha, too late for that," Kara mocked and then walked through the weak-ass forcefield. The alien prisoners and Officer Larry quickly retreated into their van. Orlando then hit Kara and Hank with an EMP wave that had no effect. Officer Larry and the aliens then drove off. The van then cloaked itself.
"You just let them escape," Hank pointed out.
"Barney can find them easily enough and secure the site. Besides, I can't get Orlando killed or Kelly will be pissed with me," Kara said.
"Since when did you care about Kelly's feelings?" Hank questioned.
"I want to bring them both to the future," Kara said. "So, I have to play nice."
"Got it," Hank understood.
"Barney, we need to get some drones over here to secure a nuclear waste site and track down some aliens," Kara radioed.
There was a long awkward silence. "Why isn't he answering?" Kara wondered.
"Orlando's EMP attack knocked out our radios," Hank realized.
"Well...shit," Kara muttered.
Hours later, Kara and Hank were back at the Tower with Alex and Kelly already there. "We need to find Orlando," Kelly pressed.
"It's obvious someone has infiltrated the prison program system and is using Orlando and others for their alien powers," Alex said.
"Exactly, so we have a Metalomite that can bend metal, a Toradine who creates forcefields, an Obscuran who has cloaking abilities, a Dynamorph who can unleash energy blasts, and Orlando is a Zeltarian who can produce EMPs," Hank listed off.
"Impressive line-up for a Suidice Squad," Kara said.
"I promised Joey I would help and all I did was get his brother in danger," Kelly said defeated.
"Look, I'm not going to kill him and Officer Larry isn't going to kill him, so he's fine," Kara said dismissively.
"If these people are dead-set on a dirty bomb, they're going to go after other sources of uranium," Alex reasoned.
"We'll start by following the energy signatures of all five," Hank said.
"They must be shielded by the Obscuran," Alex said. "I'll try to work around it."
"Yeah, you go do that. I'm going back to the prison to chew Warden Kote out," Kara said taking off.
Alex and Kelly then went out to the balcony. "I should have run Joey's concerns about Orlando through the proper channels," Kelly said mournfully.
"Yeah, you should have written memos and made some phone calls," Alex said sarcastically.
Kelly gave her an uncertain look. "No, Kelly, fuck that. You went to the source of the problem and you discovered something was wrong. You gave a shit about Joey and now this city is safe from a dirty bomb for another day. Kara would have dismissed the whole thing because she doesn't give a shit. She orchestrated the entire prison-release program to leverage prisoners into making baby clothes for her for free," Alex told her.
"The system is stacked against them," Kelly shook her head.
"Kara is the system!" Alex exploded.
"What can we do against such great power?" Kelly wondered.
"We never give up," Alex said resolved.
"I just don't think I can compete with Kara's intellect and powers. I'm weak," Kelly admitted.
"I don't believe that," Alex said stubbornly.
"You have to say that. You're my girlfriend," Kelly said obviously.
"I learned a long time ago that I could never compete on Kara's level, not in power, intelligence, weapons training, stealth, or even in all of my training. She was always a thousand steps ahead of me. And I thought the combined strength of the DEO could balance us but nope. Instead, the only way I can compete with Kara is to just be a better person with compassion, hope, and love," Alex said sincerely.
"Our virtue is our power. So, when Kara mocks you for caring about Orlando, don't let her take your compassion away from you," Alex added. "Unlike Kara, we take human risks. And risks define who we are. And Joey is very lucky to have you in his corner because you are a protector. And...if not for you, Orlando would be dead."
"Wait...what?" Kelly thought she misheard.
"Knowing Kara, she spared Orlando from killing him to be in your good graces," Alex shrugged.
"Why does Kara suddenly want to be nice to me now?" Kelly wondered.
"I don't know," Alex lied.
Kara sat in front of Warden Kote. "I don't believe it," he shook his head.
"I'm sorry but there is corruption in the Second Chances program that we can't just sweep under the rug," Kara frowned.
"It's unconscionable," Warden Kote said.
"Exploitation of aliens actually happens quite a bit," Kara corrected. "We need to know if Officer Larry is alone in this scheme."
"Impossible. I put strict safeguards in place," Warden Kote doubted.
"Well, this isn't about petty truck robberies anymore. Whoever is behind this is trying to make a dirty bomb," Kara revealed.
"Where did you hear that?" Warden Kote asked.
"The fuck does it matter? Look, this is all off the record. I'm not going to write a story that destroys my own prison system, alright. And I believe in the good we're doing here," Kara said seriously.
"We'll do a full internal investigation once the aliens have been captured and once Officer Larry is back with us," Warden Kote stalled.
"My friend will assist you with that," Kara said as Brainiac 5 entered the room.
"I'm sorry. I want to see his clearance," Warden Kote protested.
"And you are right to insist," Brainiac 5 said showing his fake FBI badge.
"Of course, you will have complete cooperation," Warden Kote said spooked. "Why are you here?"
"Because the situation is more complicated than you think, warden. Do you know what your sin is, warden?"
"I...," Warden Kote stammered.
"It's greed," Brainiac 5 concluded. "You have accounts in the Cayman Islands and have been receiving steady bribes from organized crime networks."
"It can be our little secret," Warden Kote said fearfully.
"Secrets do not concern me, keeping them is," Brainiac 5 said advancing on him.
"Whatever ends up leaking out, it can be dealt with," Warden Kote said defensively.
"You know, in certain older civilized cultures, when men fail as entirely as you have, they would throw themselves on their swords," Brainiac 5 said as he extended out a pocket sword to its full length.
"I would put that down," Warden Kote backed away.
As Warden Kote attempted to retreat, Brainiac 5 manipulated a nerve cluster in his back to paralyze him in place. He then placed the sword on the floor in front of the warden. "We'll have to reach out to Orlando Davis no matter how far he happens to be," Brainiac 5 said to Kara.
Warden Kote then fell forward onto the sword killing him instantly as it severed his Aorta. "This is a good death. There is no shame in this. For a man who has done fine works in making a better world," Brainiac 5 said to the dying warden.
Brainiac 5 then withdrew his sword and cleaned it off. Kara just sat there rolling her eyes. "It's hard to get good help these days," Kara remarked.
"More-and-more, I find delegating tasks to humans to be...counter-productive," Brainiac 5 said to her.
"Without the drama, things would be boring," Kara said standing up to him.
"Until there is a suitable replacement, I will command this prison," Brainiac 5 said as he morphed into Warden Kote.
"Fair enough," Kara allowed. "I want all of his money and stuff handed over to me."
"Of course," Brainiac 5 said.
At the Daily Planet, Kara got scolded by Cat. "Where's my interview with a Super-Friend?" Cat demanded. "On the news, two of them were in the same place and at the same time. One of them was you, actually."
"I've just been busy dealing with a dirty bomb and Kelly Olsen's social work bullshit and Nia's sleeping issues," Kara said.
"I don't want excuses. The longer you delay, the longer other outlets may scoop us," Cat raged.
"Who cares about the ratings?" Kara said dismissively.
"The fuck did I just hear?" Cat exploded.
"Okay, I'll give you an interview as Supergirl as soon as I save the city from being irradiated. How about that?" Kara asked.
"Fine," Cat allowed and walked off.
Brainiac 5 then came by Kara's desk. "The prison contracted Summerlin Industries for the work-release program. I traced it to two dozen shell companies and finally ended up with Cypress Holdings in Panama," Kara said.
"It has ties to Bruno Mannheim's intergang," Brainiac 5 revealed.
"Is there a direct link?" Kara asked.
"Do we need one?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"Call Officer Larry," Kara ordered.
Brainiac 5 took out Warden Kote's cell phone and dialed Officer Larry. "Kara Danvers came to see me again. It's only a matter of time before the truth comes out. Maybe you should bring those workers back and we can make up a story and go back to the way it was," he said using Warden Kote's voice.
"It's too late. It's what Mr. Mannheim wants. We're going after the uranium again tonight. When the job is done, you don't have to worry about the truth getting out. The alien workers will be dead," Officer Larry revealed.
"Well, okay then," Brainiac 5 said and hung up.
Kara and Brainiac 5 casually entered the Tower. "We have their location via cell phone signal," Brainiac 5 said and then proceeded to immediately take over the Tower's computers.
"That's their van," Kara identified on a computer screen.
Meanwhile, Officer Larry had the five alien prisoners in power-dampener handcuffs. "After tonight, your services will no longer be required," he said ominously.
"You're just going to let us go," Orlando doubted.
"You have my word," Officer Larry lied.
A heat vision beam scattered the corrupt prison guards. Hank grabbed one of them and threw him through a fence knocking him out. A second guard fired on Hank with the bullets just going through him. Hank quickly disarmed him and threw him to the floor. Kara blasted the third guard with super-breath throwing him against some wooden crates. Officer Larry pointed a gun at Kara.
"Really?" Kara shook her head. She quickly disarmed him and then threw him against a concrete pillar knocking him out. Kara then turned to the alien prisoners. "Time to close some loose ends," she said darkly.
The prisoners huddled together fearfully. "You're going back to the prison and you're keeping your mouths shut," Kara ordered. She then took up Officer Larry's remote. "Or...we could play a little game. Stay where you're are with your hands on your head and you get to live. If you try to fight me or escape, you die," Kara said to them and then turned off their power dampeners.
The Obscuran immediately cloaked them all while Orlando hit them with an EMP wave that deactivated their radio communications. Kara clapped her hands devastating the five of them and ending the cloak. The Metalomite tore metal beams from the warehouse they were in and threw them at Hank as he blocked their escape. The beam merely went through him. The Toradine created a forcefield around the five to keep Kara and Hank from advancing on them.
"Let us pass," the Dynamorph demanded as he fired an energy blast. The beam merely sizzled off Kara's chest.
"You want us to come back? To explain, to make it all okay?" You don't get it. The system doesn't care. It never has. It never will," Orlando told Kara.
"You're right," Kara agreed.
There was a long awkward silence between them. "Look, I am the system. You can't run from me. I will always hunt you down. You will never know a moment's peace and neither will Joey," Kara said to him.
"What do you know about Joey?" Orlando asked apprehensively.
"I know where he lives, where he goes to school, so I wouldn't fuck with me," Kara said darkly.
"I begged for social services to help but they didn't listen. And who's going to rent a place to someone who makes minimum wage? So, I tried to rob a store. When you're desperate, you'll do anything. In prison, I believed what they said, that the work-release program would be the answer to Joey and me being together again. It turned out to be another lie. Face it. No one wants to help people like me, people like them," Orlando said.
"I'm an alien like you, too, but with a shit-ton of white privilege. I know the system is broken but in the 31st century, I designed the system. Join me in the 31st century, and I'll pardon your crimes, I'll give you a job, housing, education, food, and recreation. Even those who are chronically unemployed fuck ups enjoy a better quality of life than the kings of this time. That goes for all of you. In the future, your respective planets are a lot better off. You can go back home to your worlds if you want to. Or you can join my Vindicator Corps. on Earth and use your powers for good," Kara offered.
"Please, don't let us down," Orlando begged.
"Unlike the cruel prison warden that demanded you stand all day, I require only that you kneel," Kara said to them all.
"Fuck this shit," one of them said. Four of the five ran towards the exit. Kara casually took a device out of her bra pocket and turned it on. The four aliens' heads immediately exploded just outside the warehouse.
Orlando immediately got on a knee. "All of you aliens with powers had a bomb at the base of your neck. You didn't think the power dampeners were the only thing keeping you all under control?" Kara mocked.
Orlando merely shook his head. "Unfortunately, your EMP ability knocks out the bomb. So, I have to trust you not to use your ability to knock out power wherever you go. I want to help you, Orlando, but I didn't get this far by being naive. So, you going to play ball or not?"
"I'll play ball," Orlando said scared shitless.
"You'll say nothing about the prison release system to anyone," Kara ordered. "In the future, I would just demote you down to the lowest rank and let you build yourself back up. If you were a repeat offender, I would exile your ass. Jailing someone for years, decades is counter-productive and just cruel. And then blacklisting your name so you can never get employment only makes things worse. Even making you a slave for pennies an hour doesn't do much good. I'm just doing the best I can with your broken system. In the future, I don't have politicians, judges, and social workers red tapping me. I allocate resources efficiently so even the lowliest citizen is provided for. God, I miss home," Kara said reflectively.
"The prison guards' minds have been raped," Hank informed her.
"You're free to go," Kara said to Orlando.
Supergirl entered the Daily Planet studio and met up with Cat Grant. "So, Supergirl, you and your friends apparently had a hiccup in the ocean last week," Cat smirked.
"We did. We had the best of intentions and ended up creating a robotic rage monster. However, since then, we have learned from our mistakes and we are now cleaning the oceans using Kryptonian technology to do it," Kara said.
"And is any of this authorized by the US government?" Cat asked.
"The trash islands that we are eliminating are in International waters and we have contacted the appropriate UN agencies on our progress," Kara replied.
"What has suddenly driven you to want to clean up our oceans? Is it because Krypton's destruction had something to do with ocean toxicity and that's got you anxious and shook up?" Cat asked.
"Not at all. Ocean toxicity had absolutely nothing to do with Krypton's destruction. I don't know where to begin on how that's geologically impossible. No, the reason I'm so interested in cleaning up the oceans is that the key to stopping climate change, pollution, and food shortages is a healthy ocean. I'm also the queen of Atlantis. That fool, Orm, is just my puppet," Kara said.
"I'd also like to add that I'm not a part of a government agency. Government isn't the answer to solving the ocean crisis. It's people like you and me doing what we can to make the world a better place," Kara added.
"Well, there you have it. Supergirl, making the world a better place one ocean at a time," Cat smiled at the camera.
Alex turned off the TV. "This is such bullshit," she said shaking her head.
Kelly entered the apartment with a beaming smile. "I got that foster mom fired and arrested by hacking her surveillance cameras and sending it to her superior and the cops."
"Great, who are the kids going to live with now?" Alex wondered.
"For the first time, in a long time, I felt completely exhilarated. I felt empowered," Kelly said ignoring Alex's question. "Today, I saw I made a real difference."
"I told you to never give up," Alex said thrilled for her.
"I know what I need to do. This community needs someone who is willing to fight for them, even when the system isn't listening," Kelly said.
"That system you keep referring to has a name. It's Kara," Alex reminded her.
"It's time to pick up where Jimmy left off," Kelly continued.
"In...what...way?" Alex asked apprehensively.
Author's Notes: A lot of Nia's scenes were cut because they were boring, had no impact on the other plotlines, contradicted the power I have given Nyxly, and I'm not sure where CW SG is going with this. The CW SG approach to prison reform was more moderate than CW BW so I'll give them credit for that. Kara's approach in the future is to put crimes in three categories: Demotion, Exile, and Execution. I want to slowly reveal more details about the future in this season before it's all revealed in Season 8. As per usual, CW SG is generally incompetent in fights forcing several confrontations before she gets it right. Impersonating the warden to get Officer Larry to give up his location would have been the obvious thing to do here. I'm not making Kelly Guardian. That's just silly. These last two episodes seem like a cause of the week type thing, so I want to make sure each follow-up episode references the last.
