The Sisters of Fate
-Early February, 2022-
Constantine and Raven were in John's apartment. This was a pre-arranged meeting as they both expected someone to attend with them. Raven had learned a lot from John, being his protegee, and the teenager knew that he wanted her to step up and help – especially now with a bigger threat looming than Enchantress had ever been: The Sisters of Fate.
There was a knock at the door as John looked up from his reading, Raven herself having been practicing a spell and stopping at the sound.
"That'll be her then," John stated, sighing as he stood from the sofa, heading to the door to open it.
A young, dark, woman with brown and blue-streaked hair was at the doorway, wearing a leather jacket, she had her arms folded, an eyebrow raised.
"Why call me over, Johnny?" Charlie, the former Fate known as Clotho, asked simply, not even saying hello as she barged into the apartment, John closing the door behind her.
"Why call you away from your busy life? To talk about your past, of course," John asked, chuckling as he headed into the kitchen, leaving Charlie to stare at Raven, who smirked at the other woman.
"Nice to see you again, Rachel Roth," Charlie stated to the girl. Charlie's accent as British as John's own.
"It's just Raven these days," Raven corrected the woman.
"Interesting. Short and sweet – like Charlie. I approve," Charlie smirked, just as John came out of the kitchen with two bottles of beer. "Ah, you know a way to a woman's heart, Johnny boy – even if the invite was wrong," Charlie added, grabbing one of the bottles and popping the top off without any help.
"The invite was necessary," John stated, correcting Charlie, "things are moving. That third piece of the Loom will appear sooner than I anticipated."
"What?" Charlie paused, staring at John now.
"I give it two, maybe three, months," John stated. "Max."
"Damn, this isn't good," the woman sighed, collapsing on the sofa now.
"So… what does happen when all three fragments of the Loom of Fate are found…?" Raven had to ask.
"When all three pieces are revealed, my former sisters of Fate can finally be free," Charlie sighed. "And we don't want that."

Barry was running. He was going fast and the world around him was a blur – like being in a teacup ride in an amusement park and spinning so fast, the world around unseeable. Unlike that though, Barry was able to take in the sights around him.
He had planned on going to Prime with his wife to check on the babies, but the Justice League was needed – more specifically, a speedster, and as he was the only one, he had to go. There was trouble going on in Gotham, and unusually one of the bad guys was particularly fast.
So, Barry was in Gotham now, chasing after something called 'Cheetah' while Batwoman and White Rabbit dealt with her former partner.
"I swear this one was Wonder Woman's adversaries?" Barry spoke into comms. "Or was that Vixen's?"
"No, Diana's. But she's back on Themyscira dealing with Amazonian things," Cisco explained into coms.
"So how did this Cheetah get her powers?" Barry had to ask, wondering if he'd actually confused Vixen for Cheetah with the ability to take another animal's abilities.
"A certain world-encompassing spell that made all our meta humans," Cisco stated into comms.
"Right," Barry nodded to himself, "Enchantress. And why does this 'Cheetah' have a grudge against Wonder Woman?"
"Because Wonder Woman tried to save her, to stop her becoming… well, what you're chasing down. Now take a left, she's up ahead," Cisco explained.
Barry didn't even wait as he turned the corner, grabbed his lightning and fired it ahead. There was an explosion as it hit a car, but there was no sign of Cheetah.
"Ooh, that's going to cost," Cisco mused. "Sorry Barry, she'd moved."
"Man, she's fast," Barry mused, "but luckily, I have the Speed Force behind me. Where now, Cisco?"
"Heading toward Gotham City Park, there's a fun fair going on there," Cisco stated.
"I'll circle around, find her that way," Barry decided, concentrating on his speed now as he ran through the gate and into the park, running faster and faster. Then he saw her, stopping ahead, facing him, ready to strike.
"Barry, she's–" Cisco began.
"Don't worry Cisco, I've got this," Barry smirked to himself and began to run again, straight for Cheetah, who began running toward him, too – but he knew he was going quicker, faster, as he swerved at the last moment, hitting her in the chest and then her back, sending her flying and instantly, clearly unconscious.
"Got her," Barry chuckled, speeding back to her now-unconscious body as he looked over the woman. "Man, they weren't wrong calling her a cheetah. I wonder if she merged with one during Enchantress's attack that made metas?"
"Wonder Woman never said," Cisco stated.
"Well, I'm bringing her in anyway," Barry bent down to pick up the woman, "let's hope Batwoman and White Rabbit are doing well with her friend."
"Former friend, I think. Cheetah did run at the first sign of a Bat," Cisco pointed out. Barry nodded to himself.

Back in Central, Raven looked between John and Charlie, confused now.
"Okay, I have two questions," Raven started, Charlie raising an eyebrow while John simply nodded for her to continue. "Firstly, why would the other Fates escaping hell be a bad thing?"
"Because they're the Fates," John was the one to answer this one. "With or without Clotho, they can do irreparable damage to this world, and even without the Loom, their influence could run deep. They could change those in power with a whisper, push countries on the brink of war over the edge, or even worse–"
"Take away all freedom," Charlie concluded for John. "Without the Loom they're limited but they have the control to do that. To enslave humanity in pre-destination."
"Okay," Raven stated, frowning now, "but, and this brings me to my second question: even if the third piece of the Loom of Fate reappears soon, the other two pieces are off world. They can't do much without all three."
"When the third appears, it'll force the other two back onto this world," John stated simply.
"Do the protectors of those rings know that?" Raven pointed out. They had given the rings to two people on other worlds to protect: Amelia Allen of Karry Universe and Nora Darkh of New Justice.
"They…" John paused at this, frowning. He had not mentioned this fact to them, and he realized that might have been a mistake. "I'm sure New Justice's Nora Darkh knows…"
"Poor Karry Amelia," Raven mused at this.
"Eh, she's used to being pulled off-world at a moment's notice," Charlie supplied, to a confused look from both John and Raven. "What? I'm a God, I can see what goes on with other worlds. The only person dragged off their world randomly more than her is Karry Universe's Caitlin."
"Right," John nodded, but decided to drop the topic. They had more important matters to discuss than the other worlds.
"So, what now?" Raven asked.
"We find out where and when the last piece of the Loom will appear," John explained. "Because only then can we prepare ourselves for the battle ahead. We get there first we have all three pieces. Then, we have an advantage over two Fates."
"You're forgetting something, Johnny," Charlie added. "Astra Logue."
"Yeah, who is Astra Logue?" Raven now asked, feeling her teacher in the mystic arts had left a lot out in his own teaching.
"A woman from my past," John sighed now. "Well, not my past as I never had an Astra Logue on Karry Universe, but the John Constantine who originated on this world did. He fell in love with Astra's mother, but she left him for Alexander Logue. When mother-and-daughter came back into this world's John's life things went awry; Astra's parents died and Astra herself was taken into Hell, where she remains to this day."
"But that happened to the other you," Charlie pointed out. "You should feel no connection to Miss Logue."
"And yet I still do. If it weren't for a twist of fate, it could have happened to me on my original world. I was more careful than this world's John Constantine, but that doesn't mean we're both not paying the price for that foolishness. He, because he's cursed to live in Hell forevermore, and myself, for taking up that life in his stead without knowing all the baggage that that John Constantine left behind," John explained. "I took over his life, now I need to deal with his mistakes. It's my responsibility."
"It is what is it now," Charlie agreed.
"I cannot be free of it, and I don't think I want to be," John nodded.
"But now my sisters want to use Astra as their Third Sister, a weak replacement for a being like me, but a replacement nonetheless," Charlie pointed out. "If they were to get the three pieces of the Loom, she could work. It wouldn't be as strong as with me, but it would work nonetheless."
"She's been manipulated ever since she was dragged into hell," John sighed.
"We can save her," Charlie pointed out, John raising an eyebrow at this. "Her fate is not sealed. No-one's fate is. Which is why we must find where and when the third piece of the Loom will turn up. To make sure no-one's fate is ever predetermined."
"Yeah, before that," Raven spoke up now, and John groaned. Charlie actually laughed.
"What is it, Raven?" John asked.
"I've got to know – why?" Raven stated, looking at Charlie. "Why break the Loom of Fate? Why break away from your sisters of Fate? Why all the charade?"
"Oh, she's good," Charlie stated, looking to John who didn't know whether to laugh or groan.

Kate and Beth Kane, known publicly as Batwoman and White Rabbit, were chasing the former jewel thief out of the building. The jewel thief had teamed up with Cheetah to perform the heist of a lifetime, but as the heroes had expected, the meta human had betrayed the jewel thief and gone on the run, leaving the thief at the hands of the Bat-team.
"So, what do we call you?" Batwoman asked the thief, who they had cornered.
"Oh honey, you can call me Catwoman," the thief stated, smirking at the hero pair as she leapt, using tech to jump over both heroes to escape.
"After her!" White Rabbit stated to Batwoman.
"On it!" Batwoman threw a bat-a-rang at the escaping thief, but missed as Catwoman skidded at the last second, letting the bat-a-rang fly over her.
"Really, sister?" White Rabbit rolled her eyes at Batwoman, who scowled at her partner before both started running, but Catwoman had a head start, jumping on a bike outside and speeding off.
"Line!" Batwoman instructed her partner, who had retracted wheels from her shoes, turning them into roller-skates as she attached herself to the other bike waiting with the rope that she had pulled from the bike for her. Batwoman's bike.
"This is going to be fun!" White Rabbit smirked as Batwoman started the bike.
"Julia, do you have a trace on Catwoman?" Batwoman asked her coms.
"Is that what she's calling herself?" the British voice of Julia Pennyworth came over the coms. Julia was the daughter of Kate and Beth's good family friend, Alfred Pennyworth - the three had been good friends as kids and now worked as a superhero team. "That's a new one."
"Yes, it is. Where's she going?" Batwoman demanded.
"Heading away from midtown, south. Take 5th Avenue," Julia instructed.
"On it," Batwoman sped her bike on.
"Wheee!" White Rabbit called, skating behind, attached to the bike by the tether so she was keeping up with her sister. "This is fun!"
"We can think about fun later, Beth," Kate shouted to her sister.
"Oh, you always say that Kate-y," Beth laughed as she half-skated, half-dragged by the bike.
"What's going on with her partner? That Cheetah woman?" Batwoman now asked into the coms.
"The Flash has already got her according to Cisco; she was no match to Barry's speed," Julia informed her teammate. "Catwoman's just taken a right."
"White Rabbit!" Batwoman called to her sister. "On my mark!"
"I see it," White Rabbit stated, grinning to herself as she now had eyes on the mark ahead of them – Catwoman was speeding around cars which were caught in a traffic jam. "You know, I want my own type of bat-a-rangs," White Rabbit added sadly, pulling out her bat-a-rangs.
"Come up with a good name, and it's all yours," Julia stated on coms. "We'll even design them in the shape of rabbits."
"Me likey," White Rabbit chuckled as she threw the bat-a-rang right at the bike. "We can call mine a Rabbit Hop."
"We can discuss it later!" Batwoman groaned. This time Catwoman was too slow as the bat-a-rang hit the bike's back tire, which exploded, sending Catwoman flying.
"That was the exploding bat-a-rang!" Julia gasped as Batwoman sped forward to get the baddie before she could get up.
"Oops," White Rabbit chuckled, "I guess I picked up the wrong one."
"You could have killed her," Batwoman stated as they stopped by the exploded bike and the jewel thief, who was conscious but clearly had broken bones and she groaned and was bleeding.
"That… wasn't my intention," White Rabbit pouted as Batwoman pulled out some cuffs, but Catwoman cried in pain when the hero tried to cuff the baddie.
"Dislocated left shoulder, broken left arm," Batwoman assessed, using x-ray vision on her suit to see this.
"And a fractured knee, poor thing," White Rabbit added, able to see this with her own Rabbit face mask. "She's not going anywhere."
"Julia, get an ambulance for our thief – and send a cop car, they'll want to keep an eye on her," Batwoman smirked before looking to White Rabbit. "We need to have a serious conversation onto hero etiquette, sister," she added.
"You're no fun," White Rabbit pouted once more at her sister.
-SuperEarth-
John took a sip of beer while Charlie's drink had remained untouched.
"Alright Raven, I don't know what Johnny, here's told you about the Loom of Fate, or what you learned in school, but before meta humans, before the Enchantress, before Amazonians and the Totems of Zambezi themselves, there was one true magical artifact, woven from one of the Seven Forces of the Universes: The Loom of Fate," Charlie explained. "And me and my two sisters were its guardians and weavers."
"Which Force?" Raven had to ask, knowing there were Seven Forces of the Universes.
"Not important," Charlie said.
"Probably the Sphere of the Gods," John mumbled as he finished his beer and went to get another.
"Regardless, we could see the destiny of all things; things that are, things that were, and some things that had yet come to pass," Charlie explained, "and we made sure the path in which destiny went down, was the one with the best outcome – or at least, the right outcome for the greater good. My sisters, Lachesis and Atropos followed their jobs without question, and, for a while, I did too. You see, we each had our own part of the Loom: mine was to create life, Lachesis was to control that life, while Atropos ended it all."
"But like many jobs, I soon became disillusioned by it," Charlie continued, obviously enjoying her monologue now, "seeing the world go by without question, without free will and without choice. Who were we to let the world be controlled by our own doing?" Charlie was enjoying telling her story, it seemed, "so I conspired with the Enchantress, the first meta human I had helped create, to trap my sisters and destroy the Loom. She separated us, and threw Lachesis and Atropos into Hell, splitting the Loom into three fragments to scatter across time itself – and I was free. In fact, the whole world was free. Free to choose their own fate, to do what they wanted."
"Which brings us to the now," John spoke up. "You always knew this was coming, that all three pieces of the Loom of Fate would come back to the mortal plane and your sisters would be free to find them and start what you had forced them to stop."
"Indeed, which is why this world has magic users such as yourself and Raven here – because only magic can truly fight back the storm which is to come," Charlie stated. "Any more questions, Raven?"
"Urm, no, thanks," Raven stated, blushing a little.
"Then I think it's time we begin Johnny. The sooner we know when the last piece of the Loom comes back, the sooner we can plan and find a more permanent solution to this," Charlie stated.
"I have some thoughts there," John smirked.
-SuperEarth-
Kara had just returned back to the townhouse from her monthly check up on Prime to make sure the babies were okay; Zari and Adrianna were back at school – it had been a few weeks since their parents' deaths and they were settling in well enough; they still shared a bedroom, but Kara and Barry had since bought Adrianna a smaller bed, which fit well in the room regardless.
Meanwhile, Barry had just come back too. Cheetah had been put in the Pipeline until the DEO could figure out what to do with her, while Catwoman had been arrested by the Gotham Police, overwatched by Batwoman and White Rabbit. The three heroes would catch up later.
"How was it?" Barry asked aloud, laying eyes on his wife.
"Good, actually," Kara stated, "how was the League stuff?"
"Oh, more of a Little League thing," Barry chuckled at the name he used, "only me and the Gotham team. Had a meta and a thief," Barry explained. "I got the meta, Kate and Beth got the thief. Usual stuff."
"Ah, that's good then. Where's Kayla?" Kara added.
"You know what, I haven't a clue. Supergirl wasn't needed and she's a grown woman – she can care for herself. Maybe she and Mon went on a date?" Barry mused.
"That's true," Kara nodded, "you know, it's still kind of weird visiting Krypton knowing my Krypton is gone…"
"I did wonder about that," Barry now started.
"What do you mean?" Kara asked, curious now.
"Well, you're one of the Paragons, you bought back the entire multiverse, but you couldn't bring back Krypton?" Barry had to ask.
"Ah, it's not that easy. Many theories are out there on why only Prime's was revived. The Anti-Monitor's trap not being able to be erased and just the fact we know Krypton was being meant to be blown up," Kara sighed. "Honestly, I spoke to Beautiful's Kayla and Karry's Kara about this but we all agreed our Kryptons being gone was for the best – besides, there's still Prime's Krypton, not to mention a couple of Kryptonian Sanctuaries out in the multiverse."
"I've got to revisit New Justice for their Kryptonian Sanctuary," Barry mused.
"Barry, what's going on?" Kara asked, curious to Barry's current attitude.
"Ah, it's nothing," Barry dismissed, "probably something to do with becoming a parent, I suppose. I mean, I was expecting the twins later in the year – I wasn't expecting Zari and Adri."
"And yet you were the one who wanted to foster them," Kara pointed out, quickly adding, "to which I'm glad we did."
"Yeah, I'm glad we did too. Things are moving so quickly," Barry mused, moving over to Kara now to kiss her, before bending down to kiss her stomach. "So, how are my two unborn children?"
"They're doing well, very healthy, although my powers are really in flux of late – I'm glad that Kayla's here to cover for me," Kara mused, thoughtfully. "My mom says hi, well my Prime mom anyway."
"I'll be there next month," Barry stated, "I am sorry I missed this one."
"I know," Kara smiled to Barry. "I know."
"Zari and Adri will be out of school soon," Barry added. "I'll go and get them."
-SuperEarth-
John and Raven had been together, joint in their spell to find the final piece of the Loom so to know the time and location of its arrival while Charlie watched on in amusement.
Then, John and Raven parted, almost split apart as they both pulled backward, breathing quickly as the spell was broken and Raven looked around.
"That was…" Raven started.
"Yes, it was interesting," John mused, in sudden thought now.
"What did you discover?" Charlie asked. "Where is it?"
"We… don't know," Raven began, looking to Raven now.
"So, the spell didn't work?" Charlie asked, curious to this.
"Oh, it did. We know when it's coming, for sure," John couldn't help but smirk.
"You do?" Charlie moved forward now.
"Between April and June this year," John stated.
"…you couldn't be more specific?" Charlie asked, a little let down by this information.
"Magic isn't exactly a fine art," John defended. "It's better than 'within two years' like last time."
"That is true," Charlie pointed out, before sighing. "Ah well, it's February now so three months' time. Can you find anything more specific nearer the time?"
"We could try," John shrugged, looking at Charlie, "but not yet."
"No, I suppose not," Charlie sighed at this.
"Well, that was fun though," Raven pointed out. Charlie chuckled at this, while John simply smirked.
-SuperEarth-
In Hell, three women were in a small room, almost like a shop as two of the women circled around a third. They had been chanting, doing a spell of their own, it seemed.
When they stood back, there was a glow about the third woman, a dark younger woman, who looked to the other two with pleasure.
"Do you feel it?" One of the women stated.
"I do," the dark girl smirked, standing now.
"You have great powers now," the other of the women added.
"You will feel it more when we finally leave this world," the first woman explained. "And then we can enact our plan. We can reunite the Loom and bring order back to the chaos of man."
"Indeed," the dark woman bit her lip, not quite meeting the other two women's eyes. "But when will this be? When will hell release us?"
"It's not hell that will release us, Sister Astra, it's the Loom itself," one of the older women stated.
"When all three pieces are back on Earth, then we shall ascend back to the world," the other woman stated.
"But come, Sister Astra, now you are one of us, you will learn the ways of Fate," both women indicated to a door in the room Astra had never seen before, Astra raising her eyebrow as they lead her toward the door.
Post-chapter Note: I hope you all enjoyed this – it was fun writing for Batwoman and White Rabbit again, and to establish that Julia Pennyworth is their 'IT Gal', and, of course, more progress on the Loom plot, and Kara's pregnancy.
