Alex was busy painting a mural in a girl's bedroom while Hank supervised. "You're doing it wrong. Let me possess your mind and body, and I'll get it done faster and better," Hank said to her.
"Back off, this is my thing," Alex told him off.
Kara sped into the apartment with several bags full of stuff. "Has she arrived yet? Have I missed it?"
"No, you're still safe," Hank assured her.
"Kelly is still on her way," Alex informed her. "Did you really need to bring so much stuff? She's just one little girl."
"Yes," Kara nodded. "And who are you to judge me? You're panting an entire wall and what the fuck is that?" Kara asked as she saw a painting of an alien moon, a Green Martian girl fairy, and a sky full of stars.
"It represents hopes and dreams," Hank said.
"It represents an acid trip," Kara said wide-eyed.
"It's a Martian guardian to keep little girls safe so you can go fuck yourself, Kara," Hank rebuked. "Seeing as how Alex is sort of my daughter now, it's important to pass down the family tradition."
"Well, here are a bunch of stuffed animals from Midvale that made me feel comfortable when I first arrived," Kara said.
"Didn't you arrive in Midvale when you were fourteen?" Hank asked confused.
"Yeah, so?" Kara asked obliviously.
"You're going to make a great Aunt Kara," Hank said confidently.
"I know, right?" Kara agreed. "Oh, Alex, I can't believe this day has come. This is actually happening after so many God damn years."
"I know. I can't breathe, I'm so excited, I'm about to have a panic attack. It's happening so quickly. We now have a little girl that is ours," Alex said freaking out.
"We're here," Kelly said coming into the apartment.
"You got this," Kara assured Alex.
Kelly entered the room with a newborn baby that had black hair and tan skin. Kara looked over the baby with wonder, the biological child of Alex and...
"This is my sister, your Aunt Kara," Alex introduced the baby to Kara.
"Glad to meet you," Kara said softly to the baby. "You know, I was once a baby, too. I mean...," Kara stammered.
"And this is Hank. He's been like a dad to Alex since he became her boss," Kelly introduced Hank to the baby. Kelly then handed the baby off to Hank.
"You're going to be a great warrior, one day," Hank predicted and then accidentally phased the infant through the wall. "Oh, shit!"
"Bring her back!" Alex said alarmed.
"I got this," Hank said bringing the infant back into the room. "It's just phasing."
"I nearly had a heart attack," Alex scolded him.
"Holy shit, Hank," Kara rolled her eyes.
"I won't do it again. I promise," Hank assured them all.
"These things happen. It's okay," Kelly said.
Kara eyed Kelly and Alex happily holding their newborn and then looked out the window. Outside was a massive city of skyscrapers, flying cars, trains, and technological wonder. This was Metropolis in the 31st century, the city Kara had built from ruins. As she looked out the window, she shed a tear.
"Terminate program," Kara ordered ending the simulation. She then eyed thousands of people protesting against her in the streets out her window as a result of Alex's interview.
Gotham
Kara sat down across from Kelly in her office at Wayne Tower. "Kelly, thank you for agreeing to meet with me," she said politely,
"Well, I don't think we'll ever agree on anything, Kara, but I am always happy to sit as friends. What did you want to see me about?" Kelly asked.
"I don't know how to put this...you're fired," Kara said bluntly.
"What?" Kelly asked confused.
"This isn't working for me," Kara clarified.
"You're not my boss. You can't fire me," Kelly objected.
"And yet, I just did," Kara pointed out. "I just can't have such a lame future sister-in-law. I'm just so tired of you whine about poor queer people and crap. Diversity is the future, diversity is the future! Look at this one, it's a minority non-binary pansexual with web toes. Shouldn't it be president?"
"You're beginning to try my patience, Kara," Kelly said peeved.
"You should fear me, Kelly," Kara said dangerously.
"Oh, I do. I don't stand a chance against you at a 1950's fashion runway," Kelly shot back.
"Nice comeback," Kara rolled her eyes. "What's so cool about you anyway?"
"My experience and insight into human and alien psychiatry," Kelly said confidently.
"Oh, I forgot. You're a psychic," Kara mocked. "What's your 900 number again?
"Very clever. Almost as clever as a middle-aged woman calling herself Supergirl," Kelly mocked.
"People like the name. It's much better than your name," Kara said.
"What's wrong with my name?" Kelly asked defensively.
"Kelly is Old Irish for warrior. You don't fit the bill," Kara said snidely.
"Kara is Greek for pure, something you wouldn't know anything about," Kelly said annoyed.
"Yeah, pure awesome," Kara argued.
"Do you like wearing that uniform? It makes you look like a live-action role-playing nerd," Kelly pointed out.
"Would you prefer I wear a men's warehouse suit like yours? You look like a woman's college basketball coach standing on the sidelines," Kara mocked.
"Oh, here we go. Another Lesbian joke," Kelly said unimpressed. "Do you think I have to dress this way? I could dress sexy if I wanted to but I don't feel the need to flaunt myself when I'm in a dedicated relationship. You advertise your powers like a desperate for attention little brat."
Kara slammed her fists on her desk in annoyance. "You look like a bug with those eyes."
"You're just a female token character of Superman," Kelly shot back.
"Ouch, Kelly. You certainly have a way with words. Is that how you've been able to gather an impressive group of alien criminals and bums to your side?"
"You want to talk about teams?" Kelly asked rhetorically.
"Let's talk about teams," Kara said eagerly. "I got a Jin Saiyan warrior, a super-computer, a telepathic Green Martian, and a Dreamer all at my disposal ready to roll. What do you got? Orlando?"
"I got your sister," Kelly silenced her.
There was an awkward silence between them. "If you're so knowledgable, tell me what I'm thinking now," Kara said as she flipped her off.
"I have that power, too," Kelly said flipping her off right back.
"Suck a nipple, Kelly," Kara insulted.
"Eat a dick, Kara," Kelly shot back.
The two stared at each other as they were flipping each other off with both hands. Eventually, they calmed themselves down and put their hands away. "We're being silly, Kara," Kelly said finally.
"Old habits," Kara admitted.
"Shall we discuss peace? The fate of the world is at stake," Kelly said reasonably.
"I agree. I hope you accept my apology," Kara said reaching out to her.
"Of course, my friend," Kelly said naively, taking her hand.
Kara then snapped the fingers on her left hand knocking her out. Beth Kane then entered the room and saw Kelly knocked out in her chair. "Another one?" she rolled her eyes.
Metropolis
Mon entered the Tower and placed a plastic container on the table. "Do I smell chocolate chip cookies?" Lena asked excitedly.
"They're mine!" Mon shut her down.
"Actually, they're for Esme," Brainiac 5 corrected.
"That's so sweet. I never thought you the type to take care of a young child," Lena said obliviously.
"Yes, her training is going quite well," Brainiac 5 said pleased.
"Training?" Lena wondered.
"She's able to mimic any alien ability she comes into close contact with. Unfortunately, she can only utilize one ability at a time," Brainiac 5 said.
"Like our Ultra-Boy," Mon remarked.
"Exactly but to a lesser degree. In time, she could fulfill the role of...Ultra-Girl," Brainiac 5 suggested.
"Wait, you're training a little girl to be a weapon?" Lena asked shocked and appalled.
Supergirl flew into the Tower slightly disgruntled. "Any new updates on Nyxly and the totem?" Kara asked getting to business.
"Still scanning. Nia has yet to dream her next move," Brainiac 5 reported.
The computer suddenly alerted them to Nyxly moving against the Hague. "Looks like we just got lucky," Kara said as the camera gave a positive facial match.
"Indeed, however, she can take any appearance she wants. She may be baiting you into a trap," Brainiac 5 warned.
"Or she's just really overconfident," Kara said knowingly.
"It's at the same time as the Russian-American talks," Lena said alarmed.
"She tried to find the totem a week ago but was frustrated by the Russians. Now, she's back," Brainiac 5 said showing Nyxly walking around the Hague facility.
Kara turned to leave and flew off towards the Hague.
Hague, Netherlands
Inside the Hague facility, Nyxly created a forcefield around herself as she examined a flower statue. "Cgyrzyx," she said to the stone flower.
"Leave at once or we'll be forced to send a strongly worded letter about you to the UN," the chief administrator told her beyond the forcefield.
"I hate to be rude but I really don't like primitive beings pointing primitive weapons at me," Nyxly said to them.
"Fair enough. Drop your weapons," she said to her two guards.
As soon as they did, Nyxly blasted both guards to the floor. Kara and J'onn arrived on the scene at the same time and went straight for the forcefield. Nyxly placed them both in a paralyzing forcefield so they couldn't move. "Look at that, is that fear I sense from the both of you? I can give courage to anyone and I can also take it away."
J'onn used his psychic abilities to distract Nyxly lowering the forcefield on them. Kara then blasted the forcefield with frost breath obscuring Nyxly's vision. J'onn flew up, phased through the ceiling, and then phased back down on the other side of the forcefield to get to Nyxly. Realizing what was happening, Nyxly teleported away.
"Well...shit," Kara sighed.
Metropolis
Alex stormed into the Tower pissed off. "Where's Esme?" she demanded.
"She's in the best of hands," Brainiac 5 assured her.
"She's mine. I want her with me now," Alex ordered.
"Legally, she's still a ward of the state. You'll have to go through six months of bureaucratic hurdles before you can take custody of her and that's not going to happen," Brainiac 5 said.
"Why? Because she's an alien with powers?" Alex asked incredulously.
"Alex, Esme can mimic any alien power she samples. She could be very dangerous to you and to Kelly," Lena said reasonably.
"Kelly and I can teach her to use her powers properly unlike some people I know," Alex said bitterly.
"Nia dreamed death and destruction if you have custody of this child," Brainiac 5 lied.
"You're so full of shit," Alex spat.
"We know how to handle aliens with these abilities," Mon said condescendingly.
"With brute force?" Alex questioned.
"That's right," Mon confirmed.
"Plus, she finds me funny," Brainiac 5 added.
Alex gave them both a wide-eyed pissed-off expression. "I will find her," she said resolved.
"Perhaps we should discuss your epic betrayal," Brainiac 5 said as he locked the doors keeping Alex from leaving.
"You're Catco's source, aren't you?" Lena asked accusingly.
"What are you going to do about it?" Alex asked rhetorically.
"Behold," Brainiac 5 said showing the video screen.
Just outside Lex Corps., Lex Luthor was prepared to make a statement to a gathering of reporters. "The accusations of murder, torture, mind-rape, corruption, and so forth by Supergirl are categorically untrue. From what was said, we have been able to identify the former disgruntled DEO employee. That matter will be sorted out privately as a personnel matter. As this is an ongoing investigation, I cannot discuss it any further."
Alex glared at Lex as she realized her leverage was slipping. "You can't cover this up completely. Everyone is going to know the bitch that she is."
"I can do one of two things, Alex. I can shut down all Internet traffic that will pinpoint Kara's position to Midvale...or I can lead them directly to the Danvers' residence," Brainiac 5 said.
"You bastard," Alex said furiously as she grabbed ahold of him.
"This isn't the first time a Vindicator has tried to embarrass us. I doubt it will be the last," Mon said to her.
"The source will be revealed as Lena Luthor. She will then apologize for lying about Supergirl publicly," Brainiac 5 said.
"You can't go along with this," Alex said stunned.
"I was kind of a traitor and a bitch last season. This is my way of atoning and showing my loyalty. There has to be a fall guy," Lena said simply.
"No, punish me," Alex shook her head.
"It's much more effective to have you experience the pain and suffering of those around you," Brainiac 5 said knowingly. "As of this morning, Kelly is in our hands."
Alex walked away from them mortified. "You're free to go," Brainiac 5 said unlocking the doors.
"Have a cookie," Mon offered.
Alex shook her head dumbfounded and left the Tower.
Hague, Netherlands
Kara grabbed a hold of the stone flower. "Cgyrzyx." Suddenly, she saw a vision of war, hunger, and poverty in black-and-white. "To obtain the totem, inspire hope," the totem said.
Kara attempted to force the flower out of the stone without success. She pulled harder cracking the floor underneath her. "Holy shit! Is this Excalibur or something?" she asked amazed.
"It must have fifth-dimensional properties beyond your abilities," Hank said.
"It said I had to inspire hope," Kara said.
"I guess we're fucked," Hank shrugged.
"In the future, I ended war, hunger, and poverty...for those loyal to my regime," Kara said defensively.
"But you haven't done it yet in this time," Hank pointed out. "You've always held back because you didn't think any of it mattered."
"Do you know what that alien did to my leaders?" the chief administrator asked.
Kara entered a conference room that showed American and Russian leaders arguing with each other with heated language. "What appears to be the problem here?" Kara asked condescendingly.
"The Russian fleet is on its way to Corto Maltese delivering nuclear warheads. Corto Maltese is only a short distance from the American mainland," the American ambassador told her.
"This nonsense about nuclear warheads is false. We're merely exercising our right to sail in International waters," the Russian ambassador told her.
"It's like the Cuban Missile Crisis all over again," Hank remarked.
"I don't have time for this bullshit," Kara said impatiently. "Can you stay here and make sure they don't start a nuclear war?" she asked Hank.
"If she comes back, I may not be able to stop her magic," Hank warned.
"Then, we go to Plan B," Kara said dryly.
Metropolis
Kara entered the Tower and saw Lena reading her magic book. "Any luck with whatever that is?" Kara asked.
"Not yet," Lena admitted. "Nothing that can find Nyxly or destroy her."
"I don't know what I'm going to do with Alex," Kara said frustrated. "No matter how many times I protect her, she's only getting herself in danger. What should I be doing differently?"
Alex then entered the Tower. Kara immediately advanced on her. "You did that interview with Catco that I was a psychotic murderer. It's only a matter of time before people realize all of my human aliases. Barney is having to work overtime to monitor the Internet so people don't realize we came from Midvale. You put me, yourself, and your parents in danger."
"And you took away my child," Alex glared.
"Esme isn't yours. She never was. Fuck, you didn't even know she existed until a week ago," Kara pointed out.
"It's the principle of the matter, Kara. You interfered in my relationships again," Alex said.
"Is it too much to ask that you adopt a normal-ass kid?" Kara asked.
"It's not up to you. It's up to me!" Alex shouted at her.
"You have a responsibility to the world to stay alive. Without you, I don't give a shit about this world. We are on the brink of nuclear war right now," Kara said to her.
"I shouldn't have to carry that burden," Alex said.
"Too fucking bad. I don't want to always be a hero but things get fucked side-wise if I'm not around," Kara argued.
"Where's Kelly?" Alex demanded.
"At Wayne Tower...taking a nap," Kara said vaguely. "I fired her. It was a bad idea bringing her to Metropolis and having you two together. I realize that now and so I'm shit-canning her."
Alex got in Kara's face. "I want a divorce."
Lena gave them wide-eyed looks. "The fuck did I just hear?" Kara asked stupified.
"The world could get along without you. There's still the Justice League. Just go back to the future and don't come back," Alex said.
"The Justice League are a bunch of incompetents," Kara spat.
"Yes, because you do everything for them. If you were gone, they would get off their asses," Alex pointed out. "You monopolize everything you touch, you push away everyone else, and you dominate everything around you. I'm not going to the future with you and I no longer want to be your sister."
"You're still not getting Esme back," Kara glared.
"So long as you're in this time, I'll resist you. I hate you, Kara," Alex said tearfully and then left the room.
Kara sighed and began to cry. Lena came over to her and gave her a hug. "I'll see what I can do to fix this."
"I give up," Kara said sadly and then walked away.
Hague, Netherlands
"The United States is merely defending itself from Russian incursion in our sphere of influence," the American ambassador said.
"Incursion? What incursion? We were invited to Corto Maltese as guests," Alina said calmly. "But if you attack any of our ships, we will retaliate."
"Let's take a break," Hank suggested wearing civilian clothes.
Alina went up to Hank as everyone left. "Your psychic abilities can't affect me nor the magic that is growing from here."
"Good for you," Hank said sarcastically.
"Make the Americans agree to our treaty," Alina suggested.
"You mean brainwash them? That's fucked up," Hank refused.
"You would only be pushing through a peace deal that would have been signed otherwise if not for this imp's interference," Alina said.
"With all due respect, you don't know you would, in fact, accomplish that. In fact, I think you're full of shit," Hank told her off. "Imposing my will on the American ambassadors could lead to unforeseen consequences. When they realize they've been brainwashed, they're going to be pissed-off."
"Your Super-Friends have meddled in International affairs before. I haven't always agreed with your actions but, today, we have an opportunity for peace," Alina said.
"An opportunity to advance Russian interests," Hank corrected. "The fuck you doing putting warships and nukes on Corto-Maltese? You were alive to remember the Cuban Missile Crisis."
"Premier Khruschev blinked. I will not do the same," Alina said forcefully.
"I'll keep things calm while you do your job but if things get out of hand and nuclear missiles start flying, I will mind-rape some mother-fuckers," Hank promised.
"Hopefully that's enough," Alina said skeptically.
Metropolis
Kara and Lena had a chat at the Tower. "Oh, it was terrible. The look on Esme's face when I put her through all that training. There was such fear in her eyes. I think she was really frightened of me," Kara said distressed.
"You do have that effect on children," Lena allowed.
"If I can't inspire hope in one little girl, how am I supposed to do it for the whole world?" Kara wondered. "And now I have to deal with this shit," she said pointing to the news on the TV.
"Have you ever considered wiping these countries of their nuclear weapons?" Lena asked.
"Nuclear weapons keep countries peaceful. That's why no nation with nuclear weapons has ever attacked another country with nuclear weapons in several decades," Kara refuted.
"That is until the nuclear war actually does happen. Then, we're fucked," Lena said. "You've had no problem meddling in International affairs before."
"Yeah, well, fuck it," Kara said somberly as she thought of Alex. "In the future, I control a Galactic Federation. If I do something in this time, I could jeopardize all that I have built."
Kara then felt pain in her forehead. "Nyxly is happy. That can't be good."
"I might be able to help you close off your mind to hers while allowing you to know what she's up to," Lena volunteered.
"Sounds like a plan," Kara said dismissively. She then eyed CNN on the news. "Why am I watching this?" she wondered and then switched it to Fox.
"Maybe you can't bring hope to the world as Supergirl," Lena said thoughtfully.
"Thanks," Kara rolled her eyes.
"No, I mean, maybe you can promote hope as Kara Danvers," Lena suggested.
Kara entered the Daily Planet and was interrupted by the new guy. "I know that this is my first day on the job but I loved your story on the Martian Manhunter keeping the peace talks safe," he said.
"Keep going," Kara said pleased.
"Kara, my office!" Cat yelled.
Kara bypassed the brown-nosing personal assistant and entered Cat's office with the doors closed. "Kara, what the fuck is going on? Who is this source talking mad-shit about you?" Cat asked.
"It's Alex. She's pissed off I stopped her adoption of an alien kid," Kara said.
"And she decided to go to Catco, our competitor," Cat said peeved.
"Well...if she had gone to you, would you have printed it?" Kara asked.
"Hold that thought," Cat said as she took a sip of her coffee. "This is a fucking disaster for you. It's only a matter of time before the Internet trolls find out who you really are and then locate your adopted parents in Midvale. All the while, Catco is surpassing us with this gossip."
"We're the Daily Planet. We stick to the facts. Let Catco be a gossip rag and lose all credibility. I have it on damage control," Kara said.
"Kara, why are you still here?" Cat asked philosophically.
"I believe in the free press," Kara said super-seriously.
"Don't give me that bullshit," Cat rebuked her.
"Journalism shines a light on people in power. It ensures no authoritarian impulse goes unchecked," Kara said.
"Are you listening to yourself?" Cat wondered dismayed.
"I'm just here to talk shit, alright. No more, no less," Kara admitted.
"After all the chaos you have wrought to the world, do you really think you bring justice?" Cat asked skeptically.
"Yeah," Kara said obviously.
"If it's revealed that Supergirl is my reporter, we're both fucked," Cat said seriously.
"I've made Lex Luthor give out a statement, I'm going to have Lena Luthor as the sacrificial lamb, I have denied everything, and...what else am I supposed to do?" Kara asked.
"Keep your sister's mouth shut, obviously," Cat said.
"We're estranged...again," Kara shook her head.
Cat sighed. "I always believed Alex to be a person of morals and principles. You can't just squeeze her. You have to realize that what she's doing is wrong for everyone."
"I'll make a deal she can't refuse. Cat, I will protect you from this," Kara promised.
Nyxly then teleported into the newsroom. "Nyxly," Kara identified.
Mon was hanging out in the newsroom with the new guy talking about sports when Nyxly interrupted. "Mon-El, Prince of all Insane. I am a great admirer of your work," Nyxly said to him.
"Finally, some respect," Mon said not taking her seriously.
Nyxly froze Mon in place so he couldn't move. Nyxly then walked towards Kara and Cat. "Don't you hurt them," the new guy said valiantly with a stapler in his hand.
"You fucking serious?" Nyxly scoffed as she cast him aside.
Kara flicked a paperclip at fast speed breaking a glass window and hitting Nyxly as fast as a bullet. In the confusion, Kara sped away and returned as Supergirl. Nyxly immediately turned around and fired on Kara freezing her in place as well.
"You're going to give me the Hope totem. I'm not playing games with you, Supergirl," Nyxly said to her. "Bring me the totem by sunset or he dies," she said referring to Mon.
"Go to town. I don't give a fuck what you do to him," Kara bluffed.
"I'll make you feel real fear for your loved ones, Supergirl," Nyxly sneered as she fired on Cat.
Kara blocked the blast with her own body saving Cat at the last moment. Nyxly then teleported herself and Mon out of the building.
In the desert wilderness, Mon powered up to Super Insane 4 ready to fight Nyxly one-on-one. "Mon-El of the Jin-Saiyan. You seem strong as expected," Nyxly said amused upon seeing his transformation. She then rose a large block of rock the size of a football field from the ground. "I've prepared the stage. I'd be rude to not welcome you properly."
Mon pointed his hand at her to make the kill. "Imagination is the strongest thing in the multiverse. By imagining my body more resistant than steel...," Nyxly said to him. Mon fired a beam at her blasting off the left side of her body.
Nyxly fell to the ground devastated. "What's with that face? Did you imagine I couldn't blast through steel? Let me tell you something. Even with your imagination, there is nothing I can't tear through because I am Mon-El," Mon taunted.
Nyxly instantly healed her wound. "So surprised? I imagined the wounds I sustained are already healed," she said mockingly. "This power is like a joke, don't you think? People like you are unable to understand my power until they lose. So, attack me, Mon-El. I can fight you without even lifting a finger. I can kill you with just my mind."
The stage suddenly erupted as a lava plume gushed out of the stage of rock. "What do you think this is? Lava," Nyxly said to him.
"No shit," Mon acknowledged.
"Do you know where it came from? My mind," Nyxly told him.
"That sounds like bullshit but I don't dislike insane things," Mon said as he blasted the lava back onto Nyxly. Mon then flew at Nyxly for strike from above. Nyxly suddenly created a cube of water suspended above the stage of rock with Mon trapped inside.
"You don't understand, do you? You thought you were just leaping into the air but you were actually in the water. While there, you hesitated for a second so you'll fall into the fissure in the ground below you," Nyxly said as Mon dropped inside the rock stage. Immediately the ground closed up trapping Mon inside the rock. "I don't think you'll die being crushed by the ground. However, the pressure of the ground and the water you're in will crush your lungs. You will die slowly as you can no longer breathe."
The rock stage exploded with rock flying in all directions. Mon sprung out and went for a strike. A metal beam materialized next to Nyxly shielding her from Mon's attack. "You think you're so powerful. If you really are what you say you are, wouldn't you want to destroy the toughest there is? Come on, let's get this fight started!" Mon taunted.
The ground opened up to swallow up Mon once more. "What was he on about? Destroy the strongest there is, huh? I've never thought such a fickle thing before. There never was anyone who dared to bare their fangs at me from the start. They knew deep down I was the strongest. There wasn't a need to kill someone as proof and that's why I never thought to destroy someone...until now," Nyxly said thoughtfully.
As Mon emerged from the ground, Nyxly summoned a hundred rifles floating next to her and fired non-stop at him. Additionally, she summoned missiles as well and fired them into a cloud of fire and dust. An energy disc suddenly sliced through a missile exploding it prematurely in Nyxly's face. She instinctively put her hand up to shield her face from the explosion.
"Finally used your hands, haven't you?" Mon mocked as he emerged from the smoke and dust. He was bloody and dirty from the attack as the bullets and missiles he was hit with were many times more powerful than the real thing.
Nyxly smiled amused at him. "That's a great smile you got there. You beginning to enjoy this fight, too?" Mon asked her. Nyxly merely gestured for him to come at her.
Mon evaded floating rocks sent his way and knife-handed through Nyxly's shoulder. "I can cut through iron, too," Mon mocked her.
"It's pointless to slash me," Nyxly said to him as she materialized a giant hand and then swatted Mon to the ground.
Mon ripped through the ground and attacked her repeatedly with punches and kicks from all directions. With no hesitation, he punched her to the face as hard as he could and kicked her to the back of her head. After his assault, Nyxly was on the ground. Nyxly got back annoyed. "You'll regret this," she said peeved.
"I regret nothing!" Mon declared as he powered up.
Nyxly formed a clone of herself. "I'll show you my strongest power," Nyxly said to him.
"Not impressed," Mon said truthfully.
"It's not a clone. I can literally create life with my imagination," Nyxly explained. "You can't kill either of us for when there are two of us, my imagination is doubled."
Mon looked up and noticed an asteroid headed towards their position. "The fuck?" Mon wondered.
"You'll vanish along with the rest of this world," Nyxly smirked. "Only I'll be left alive in the rubble."
Mon powered up an energy sphere in his hands as the meteorite came closer. "Emak Emak Ah!" he shouted as he fired on the meteorite with his hands. The beam hit the meteorite blasting it to pieces. Debris fell all around them and impacted the ground in explosions.
"You're quite the monster, Mon-El," Nyxly allowed.
"It's simple. There's nothing I can't destroy," Mon said confidently.
Nyxly formed clones all around Mon. "If you can destroy anything, then I'll place you in space where there is nothing," Nyxly said as she formed a space vacuum around Mon's body.
Mon tensed up as his body began to suffer from the vacuum of space. "In space, your fluids are forced to evaporate from your eyeballs and the inside of your mouth. The blood from your wounds begins to boil. If you try to hold your breath, your lungs will explode. Your body tissue will begin to die," Nyxly told him.
A beam sliced one of the Nyxly clones in half from the vacuum. Mon instantly teleported out of the vacuum and fired on the clones. Nyxly on the ground detonated all of her clones creating a massive explosion in the sky. Mon emerged from the explosion with torn-up clothes and burns all over his body.
"You really are a monster," Nyxly smiled impressed. "In this case, I'll just have to imagine myself stronger than you."
Mon watched disturbed as Nyxly's muscles greatly increased. "I'll crush you," Nyxly said confidently as she grew bigger and stronger. Nyxly's skin suddenly tore open and her muscles detached from her bones. She fell to the ground a bloody mess.
"You imagine yourself as strong as me but forgot how ki worked. It's not the size of my muscles that makes me strong but the way my ki interacts with them, you fucking idiot," Mon said to Nyxly.
"I imagined your power perfectly but I couldn't imagine the fact that only your body could stand your power," Nyxly realized.
"No shit," Mon confirmed.
"But even this body, I created from my own imagination," Nyxly said as she got back up perfectly healed. "And it's not beyond my imagination to be immortal and all-powerful even if I can't imagine your Insane male body."
Mon fired a beam through her gut and out the other side. A rock formation behind Nyxly exploded in the distance. "Really?" Nyxly asked annoyed as she quickly healed the wound. In a flash, she hit Mon with a powerful blast of light. Mon was thrown a distance away stunned and injured. Getting back up, his right arm was bloody and broken.
"Damn it," Mon hissed.
"I'm not going to kill you. I'm just going to hurt you really really badly," Nyxly said to him.
"You'll fail on both counts," Mon grinned insanely as he powered up a golden aura around him.
"What is this?" Nyxly wondered as Mon powered up to maximum.
"I'm going to crush you and throw you into the wind," Mon promised.
"Tall order, asshole," Nyxly doubted.
Mon readied himself for his final attack and then instantly got close to Nyxly. He then let loose all of his energy at once in a thermonuclear explosion of energy. Nyxly cried out in pain as she was hit with the light and heat. When the explosion settled, Nyxly looked upon Mon. He was now a stone statue of himself. Nyxly had changed reality to ensure he remained alive but completely helpless.
Kara flew around Metropolis ensuring a little girl got her ice cream and an old man was able to cross the street without getting killed. She then went to the Hague to activate the totem. "You have failed," the totem said to her.
"Oh, come on! Wasn't that enough?" Kara raged at the totem. "This is some buuuuullllshit."
Metropolis
On the ground floor of the Tower, Brainiac 5 and Lena considered a Phoenix bird in front of them that had been genetically reproduced. The two of them wore sunglasses for the experiment. "You may begin," Brainiac 5 said to her.
Lena fired a laser pistol at the phoenix blasting it apart. Brainiac 5 snatched a phoenix feather from the air. "Excellent."
"So, the Phoenix will now resurrect, right?" Lena assumed. Brainiac 5 ignored her as they went to the next station. "Right?"
"Behold what science has done," Brainiac 5 said as they saw a living unicorn in front of them. "I spliced the DNA of a horse and a narwhale to get this result."
"I always thought a unicorn was simply a rhinoceros," Lena figured.
"Well, yes, but this unicorn also has silver blood," Brainiac 5 said.
"Now what?" Lena wondered.
"Cut a strand of its tail," Brainiac 5 said giving her scissors.
"I'd rather not. What if he kicks me?" Lena said worriedly.
"Very well," Brainiac 5 sighed and then shot the unicorn in the head killing it dead.
"You killed a fucking unicorn? Oh my God! We are so fucked!" Lena freaked out.
"Perhaps," Brainiac 5 said unconcernedly. "Now, take the sample."
Lena cut a unicorn hair strand and gave it to him. At the next station, Brainiac 5 looked over various wood samples. "I assume you like your wood long, sturdy, and black," Brainiac 5 said.
"Of course," Lena said obviously.
Brainiac 5 used micro-tentacles from his fingers to perfectly wrap the phoenix feather with the unicorn hair and then placed it inside a hollow piece of wood nearly a foot long. He then closed the end of the wand with a hilt. "It is yours," Brainiac 5 said handing it over to her.
"Why can't you use it?" Lena wondered.
"I'm not entirely certain a cybernetic organism can use a wand," Brainiac 5 admitted.
"I don't know if I can either," Lena doubted.
"Lena, it's in your blood. This wand was meant for you," he said as Lena's hair went wild as soon as she touched it.
"Wow, does this make me a witch now?" Lena wondered.
"You were a witch long before this day," Brainiac 5 told her.
"Thanks, Barney," Lena smiled. "Wait...what the hell is that supposed to mean?"
Kara flew into the Tower and found Lena playing around with her wand. "Geminio," Lena enchanted a silver platter. The platter began to replicate every few seconds non-stop.
"I've saved countless cats out of trees on the way over here. Just what does this totem want?" Kara asked exasperated.
"You could end the nuclear war crisis," Brainiac 5 suggested.
"Hey, I told them to stop being assholes. What more can I do?" Kara asked. "Tell me you have some good news?"
"Nope," Brainiac 5 shut her down.
"Uhm...I can't stop this," Lena said alarmed as the room started to fill up with silver platters.
"Maybe I should just give Esme back to Kelly and Alex," Kara said thoughtfully. "They're never going to learn until they end up burned over it."
"Guys, a little help," Lena said distressed as she was waist-high in silver platters.
"The decision is now out of your hands. Esme is in a location you won't be able to find," Brainiac 5 said.
"That's fucked up. I don't like it when you do this kind of shit. I'm supposed to be the Supreme Leader, damn it!" Kara said peeved.
"Seriously, help!" Lena cried out as she was buried in silver platters.
"Lena, you're going to cause hyperinflation at this rate," Kara said, noticing the room filled with silver platters.
"The spell is Immobulus," Brainiac 5 said helpfully.
"Immobu...," Lena said as she became completely buried in silver platters.
"Don't you have enough wealth, Lena? Holy fuck," Kara said dismayed.
"Just tell Alex that you're not to blame now because you can't hand them back Esme even if you wanted to," Brainiac 5 advised.
"Yeah, sure, that will work," Kara said uncertainly.
Finally, the silver platters stopped replicating. Lena burst out dumbfounded by the mess.
Midvale
Alex went back to Midvale to snitch on Kara to her parents. "She's out of control. I don't know where either Kelly or Esme is. I'm just completely beside myself," Alex said to Eliza and Jeremiah.
"I'll have a chat with her," Jeremiah assured her.
Kara flew in and walked into the house in civilian clothes. "We'll let you two talk this out," Eliza said taking Jeremiah away.
"What do you have to say?" Alex asked scornfully.
"I'm really sorry I pushed you away from me. Let me show you something," Kara said and then revealed a squid-like creature on her arm. "It's the squid that can force you to tell the truth, remember? So, now you can be 100% absolutely certain I'm telling you the truth with every single thing I say to you. I want you to know that I will always have your back no matter what you do or say. We're going to grow together and you're going to make mistakes occasionally, but we're going to learn from them. We're going to face all the bad things head-on, and we're going to be really good at it."
"You're immune to the truth-seeker. It can't even penetrate your cells," Alex rolled her eyes.
"Damn...and I rehearsed this speech while flying over here," Kara shook her head.
"Bring me back my little girl," Alex ordered.
"I don't know where she is now. Only Barney knows and he isn't talking," Kara said honestly.
"Bullshit," Alex doubted. "Get him to talk."
"Alex, you tried this before in another timeline. Kelly and you adopted a Kryptonian boy and he nearly killed you both," Kara revealed. She then faced away from Alex. "I had to...kill him to save you. I broke a twelve year's old neck as he begged me for mercy," she said hauntedly.
Alex simply stared at Kara not sure whether to believe her story. "I can't risk it happening again. A parent must always be able to overpower their child," Kara said.
"That's fucked up. That isn't how my parents treated you," Alex shot back.
"Yes, it was," Jeremiah revealed as he entered the room. "From the very beginning, I had contingency plans on how to kill Kara if she ever went rogue. It's the reason why Clark entrusted us with Kara."
Alex simply stared at her father in disbelief. "And you knew the whole time?" she asked Kara.
"Yep," Kara nodded.
"What the fuck is wrong with this family?" Alex asked dismayed.
"You can't treat people like me as people, Alex. You have to see me for who I am. I'm as powerful as an entire nation's arsenal of nuclear weapons. You have to treat me no differently than America or Russian and the same goes for Esme," Kara argued.
"I don't think you're ready for the responsibility of raising a child right now," Jeremiah said to Alex.
"Why? Because I'm gay?" she asked dismayed.
"Well...aside from that, you're not married, you have no job, and you're putting your life in danger all the time," Jeremiah listed off. "If not for your sister and her friends, bad guys would eventually find your apartment and kill you, Kelly, and Esme. This stunt you pulled with Catco is going to eventually bring all of your enemies to Midvale. Your mother doesn't deserve to live in constant fear."
"I did what I did because I felt powerless. Not just on this issue but many others over the years," Alex said frustrated.
"We'll discuss the fate of the girl after you have dealt with this Nyxly. In the meantime, you two need to stop fighting," Jeremiah ordered.
"I have to go back to the Tower," Kara said excusing herself.
Metropolis
At the Tower, Supergirl landed on the balcony. "The talks between the Russians and the Americans broke down," Hank reported.
Kara eyed the news on the TV monitors. "I can't have this. I won't have this," she said passionately.
"If they launch those missiles, we will stop them," Hank said confidently.
"That's not good enough. It's time for me to interfere. I will do whatever it takes to protect this planet including disarming these countries so the people don't have to fear the next day and the next," Kara said.
"This intervention could be enough to win over the hope totem," Hank considered.
"I can give you the location of the missiles. You should be able to get rid of them all and acquire the hope totem within the timeframe Nyxly has given you," Brainiac 5 said as he worked on the computer.
"And then use the totem to end this conflict," Lena suggested.
"No, every time someone uses a totem it just fucks it up. It's too risky," Hank warned.
"It could be what turns the tide," Kara considered.
"Unfortunately, the tide has already turned," Brainiac 5 said as an American submarine launched a nuclear missile towards Russia.
Russia
Karina intercepted the nuclear missile before it could hit Moscow and threw it into space. At the same time, a nearby missile silo launched a singular nuclear missile against the Americans. "Who gave the authorization to launch the missile?" Karina asked PATRIOT command.
"We don't know. Standby," Alina radioed to her.
Supergirl and J'onn intercepted the Russian missile. J'onn phased through the missile deactivating and then Kara tossed it into space. "Now, to disarm their complete arsenal," Kara said ambitiously.
"You sure that's a good idea," Hank doubted.
"I have my doubts as well," Karina said as she faced off against Kara.
"I'm here to bring hope and peace to the world," Kara said to her.
Karina gave her an odd look. "Is this some kind of ruse to control the hope totem?" she asked.
"Stand aside and let me do my job," Kara ordered.
Karina quickly froze J'onn so he couldn't phase and then punched him into a mountain. "Don't do this," Kara said to her.
"You're weak, unsure of yourself," Karina detected.
"I'm doing what must be done," Kara told her.
"Feel free to disarm your own country. You will not disarm mine," Karina said forcefully.
"I don't want to fight you, sister," Kara said.
"I don't blame you. I wouldn't want to fight me either," Karina mocked.
"I'm going to send these missiles into the sun," Kara said to her. "Now, stand down."
"Very well. I'll watch you do it," Karina allowed.
"Really?" Kara asked naively.
"After you're done, we can face Nyxly together," Karina offered.
Kara turned her back to Karina as she considered the missile silos in front of her. "With all of us working together, I'm sure we can defeat Nyxly and end the threat of nuclear war forever."
Karina suddenly hit Kara hard to the back of the head knocking her out. "So, Kara, even you can prove helpless when you drop your guard. I'll take care of this Nyxly myself. The last thing I need is for you to play hero again and dangle it over my head. We'll finish this discussion when I return. Enjoy your sleep."
"Brainy, activate Myriad to prevent any further hostilities at Corto Maltese," Karina radioed.
"As you wish," he replied.
Myriad towers then became activated forcing people around the world to have hopeful thoughts. "Too easy," Karina smirked.
Hague, Netherlands
Karina flew into the Hague facility and approached the stone flower. "Cgyrzyx," she recited.
"You have performed admirably," the totem said to her as the flower glowed and morphed into a white crystal.
Karina took the crystal and flew off towards the Daily Planet.
Metropolis
Karina flew into the Daily Planet and met up with Nyxly and Mon. "I have what you want. Now, release Mon," Karina ordered her.
"Give me what I want first," Nyxly countered.
"Don't do it," Mon said sacrificially.
"Suit yourself," Karina said and then tossed the crystal to her.
Nyxly grabbed the crystal and immediately teleported into the sun with it. The crystal had been turned into a portkey to teleport itself and anyone touching it to another location. "Where's Kara?" Mon asked.
"She tried to disarm Russia of its nuclear arsenal. I thought we had an understanding," Karina said peeved.
"That doesn't sound like her," Mon considered.
"It's pointless to not consult with me on world affairs. As soon as you leave, this world is mine," Karina told him.
A little later at Alex and Kelly's apartment, they heard a knock on the door. Alex opened the door to see Kara. "Nuclear war has been averted, for now, Mon is back in our hands, and Nyxly has three totems," Kara reported.
"I see," Alex said diplomatically. "You could have just sent me a text."
"I'm so sorry, Alex. I should have had hope that you would have built a positive relationship with Esme. I treated her as a threat when, in reality, she's a child in need of a mom, two moms even," Kara said apologetically.
"You really mean that?" Alex doubted.
"I'll do everything in my power to get Esme back to you," Kara promised. "Even if it means going to war with Barney."
"Well, okay then," Alex said shaking Kara's hand.
