(Heavy Spoilers for Spiderman No Way Home)
(Rated I for Immature)
CW Supergirl 6x21
Andrea Rojas V.O.: Supergirl, the hero we never asked for, was sent to the Phantom Zone due to her own incompetence, befriended a witch, and then brought that witch to our reality causing death and destruction in her wake. On her own, without anyone's knowledge or consent, Supergirl intentionally caused the people of National City to riot. She destroyed the Hope totem, held National City hostage in a dome, defied the National Guard and our Governor, disrupted the solar cycle of the sun to increase her already extraordinary powers, and, in her negligence, got my best friend and colleague, William Day, killed."
No Way Home
"It is my great pleasure to introduce to you, Supergirl," Cat Grant said showing Kara Danver's smiling face on a giant electronic billboard.
"That's not all, folks, you might want to brace yourselves, she's the reporter that won the Pulitzer Prize for writing an article about herself. Can you imagine that?" Andrea asked as the billboard showed her face during her podcast.
Alex was minding her own business when she saw the billboard in a crowded square. Andrea then showed a picture of the Super-Friends with Alex front-and-center in her costume that made little attempt to hide her identity. "Are you Supergirl's girlfriend?" one man asked instantly identifying her.
The crowd suddenly ambushed Alex wanting answers from her. "Hey, no touching without consent," she yelled at them.
Supergirl suddenly landed amidst the crowd and made her way over to Alex. "Do you think you're above the law? What gives you the right to turn off the sun?" the crowd shouted at Supergirl.
"Time to go," Kara said moving Alex out of the crowd and then flying off. Supergirl flew Alex over to a bridge and then got a phone call. "It's Brainy, I have to take this," Kara said to Alex who was barely balancing on the narrow metal beam.
"Web traffic on Supergirl and Kara Danvers is off the charts," Brainiac 5 told her.
"I got that," Kara said obviously.
A train car making its way across the city gawked at them from the bridge. News helicopters were on the scene buzzing them. "We need cover and concealment," Alex said to Kara.
"I have an idea," Kara said and then took Alex off the bridge straight down. Kara's boots slammed through a vent and the two ended up flying through the subway system underground. Kara narrowly avoided an oncoming subway train and made their way over to a flower shop across town.
"That was close," Alex said stunned.
"You okay?" Kara asked concernedly.
"Yeah," Alex nodded.
Kara then flew Alex over to her apartment. Inside the apartment, Kelly was dealing with her brother, James. "Lena is an amazing person but I feel she's miserable. I don't know what to do to help," James admitted.
"Perhaps you two should take a break," Kelly said brightly. The two then heard a thud in one of the bedrooms.
"I should check that out," James said going into hero mode.
James entered the room and found Kara using her super speed to get back into her civilian clothes. James backed out of the room. "I didn't see anything," he said embarrassed.
"Oh, hi!" Kelly said as she gave Alex an obligatory kiss.
Immediately, random strangers started beating on the door having determined where Alex lived. Kara quickly lowered all the blinds in the apartment while Alex got out her pistol. On the TV, three news helicopters hovered around the apartment. "This could be an issue," Alex said dryly.
"This will blow over, I promise you," Kara said naively.
On her podcast, Andrea laid out the case against Supergirl. "The Super-menace, governments across the world are opening investigations into the terrorist known as Supergirl aka Kara Danvers who has, for years, put the law into her own hands in National City. Now, the world knows her for who she truly is," Andrea said as she showed pictures of Kara's friends and families with their names.
"How can she do this?" Kara asked stunned.
"Freedom of speech," Alex shrugged.
"There should be limits. She's endangering the people I care about and lying about me," Kara said outraged.
The police knocked hard on the door. "Police, we have a warrant," they shouted.
Alex opened the door. "We have an arrest warrant for Kara Danvers and a search warrant for this apartment," the police detective told her.
"This is a violation of the fourth amendment of unreasonable searches and seizures," Alex protested.
"Let's begin, boys," the police detective said as an entire square went inside and gutted the place. The police detective then went over to Kara. "You going to resist?" he asked her.
"No," she said putting her hands out.
Kara was brought to the police precinct for questioning. "Ask Hank Henshaw at the DEO. He'll explain everything," Kara told the detectives.
"Hank Henshaw's been missing for years," the police detective said knowingly.
The police escorted Alex, Kelly, and Brainiac 5 to separate interrogation rooms. "Get a lawyer!" Alex shouted at her. Alex was brought into an interrogation room where she sat down in front of a police detective.
"I want a lawyer," Alex said immediately.
"Why do you want a lawyer? You're not charged with anything," the police detective evaded.
"Then, why am I here?" Alex asked. "I know my rights."
"Just answer my questions. I've seen your file. You have a smart young girl with a brilliant future ahead of her. Why would you risk your daughter by being in league with this vigilante?" the police detective asked.
"Because we're sisters or did the maiden name not tip you off?" Alex rolled her eyes.
The police detective checked her file again. "Oh, you got married recently. Congratulations, Mrs. Olsen."
In another interrogation room, Brainiac 5 had a chat with the police detective. "I'll tell you everything you want to know because the truth will set you free and knowledge is power," he said.
"Tell us about the suit," the police detective requested.
"I invented it with nano-technology in her glasses. It's actually quite interesting...," Brainiac 5 said revealing everything.
In another room, Kelly was being drilled. "Unless you have specific charges, you can't hold us here," she said to the police detective.
"How about...child endangerment?" the police detective said obviously.
"Excuse me?" Kelly asked offended.
"You are Esme's legal guardian. You were entrusted by National City for her wellbeing but I see several times when Esme was in mortal danger including being kidnapped. Not only have you not kept Esme safe, but you're also actually encouraging the use of her powers. Who does that?" the police detective asked accusingly.
"I want to see Esme right now," Kelly demanded.
"Yeah, not happening. She's in witness protection right now. Not even Supergirl aka Kara Danvers could find her," the police detective shut her down.
That night, investigators and police were all over L Tower and its facilities. "No comment at this time," Lena said to the reporters as her labs and equipment were taken away to be analyzed.
Lena then sat down with Kara, Alex, and Kelly over their legal options in the apartment."Great news, Kara. I don't think any of the charges against you are going to stick," she said confidently. "And we can appeal to the judge to get Esme back."
"That's awesome. Thank you, Lena," Kara said appreciatively.
"That is great news," Alex seconded.
"The Feds are still buzzing around L Tower and my foundation. I'm keeping my mouth shut but they're going to find out everything my brother did, using our technology," Lena said.
"I'm so sorry you're going through this, Lena," Kara said sincerely.
"Well, you're not out the woods yet, Kara. There is still the court of public opinion," Lena said. Suddenly, a brick went through the window. Kara caught it just in time before it could hit Lena.
"We're going to need another place to live," Kelly said dryly.
"I got you covered," Lena smiled.
Kara, Alex, and Kelly moved into a new second-story apartment in National City on the other side of town. The apartment had a sophisticated locking mechanism and security system. On the TV screen, Brainiac 5 made a video call. "You'll find your new suit in a trunk in your room," he said.
"A new suit?" Kara asked confused.
"It's black...so you'll be able to go out at night undetectable," Brainiac 5 said smiling.
"Black isn't really my style, Brainy," Kara frowned.
"Just try it and see how it works. You won't be disappointed with my modifications," Brainiac 5 predicted.
"Alright, Brainy," Kara said reluctantly and then ended the video call. She then turned to Alex. "How are you holding up?"
"I'm trying to be an optimist, you know, glass half full," Alex said sadly. "More importantly, how are dealing with all this?"
"You know, ever since I became Supergirl, I've only had one week where I felt normal or kind of normal, I guess," Kara recalled.
"The week you lost your powers?" Alex asked knowingly.
"Yeah, I felt such vulnerability back then but I knew it would be okay because I had you and my friends to get me through it. But now, I feel isolated and alone," Kara admitted.
"But you're not alone and you never will be. I have your back no matter what," Alex said seriously.
At Catco, Kara was swarmed by reporters, fans, and enemies as she entered the building. There were protest signs everywhere. Kara was required to be escorted through the crowd to the entrance by security. Reaching the top floor, Kara entered Cat Grant's office. "Welcome back, Kara," Cat said annoyed.
Kara couldn't help but notice a wall dedicated to Supergirl. "Some of the employees put it together. I told them that it was unnecessary but they insisted for some reason," Cat explained.
Outside their office, random people took pictures of Kara with their phones. Cat lowered the blinds on every corner of her office to give them privacy. "It's been so crazy down there," Kara remarked.
"According to the Daily Planet, you have the power to hypnotize females to seduce women into your cult of personality," Cat said. "There's nothing true to any of that, is there?" Cat asked.
"Absolutely not," Kara said quickly.
"And to think I worked for that rag. How far it has fallen without Perry," Cat shook her head.
"Maybe revealing my secret identity wasn't such a great idea," Kara considered.
"It would have come out eventually. What's more dangerous is you trying to live two different lives at once. This was and still is the best thing you could have done for yourself...but you may need to work from home for a couple of weeks," Cat winced.
At a coffee shop, Kara, Alex, and Kelly met up. "So, now I'm working from home," Kara brought up.
"J'onn's PI practice has had to close down ever since the Internet located the Tower. I'm out of a job and I've been rejected by every security agency. I might have to go back to the DEO," Alex said.
"And the board has suspended my license to practice psychiatry due to all this controversy," Kelly added.
"This is so unfair. You two did nothing wrong," Kara shook her head dismayed.
"I wouldn't change anything," Alex assured her.
"Me either," Kelly agreed.
"I have an idea to fix this," Kara said thoughtfully.
Kara made her way over to the Luthor Mansion and entered. Inside, she found everything completely frozen like a winter palace. It was even snowing from the ceiling. "Oh, hi, Kara," Lena said upon entering the lobby.
"What's all this?" Kara asked confused.
"I'm the new apprentice to Mr. Mxyzptlk. He's helping me develop my magical powers," Lena said.
"Did you cause this?" Kara asked intrigued.
"I opened a portal to Siberia and couldn't close it in time. A blizzard went through it," Lena said sheepishly. "Unfortunately, Mr. Mxyztplk thinks of it as an improvement," Lena shuddered.
"What do I owe the pleasure?" Mr. Mxyzptlk asked as he walked towards her.
"I'm really sorry to bother you, Sir," Kara said awkwardly as she followed him around the house.
"Please, we saved the universe together. I think we're beyond Sir at this point," Mr. Mxyzptlk smiled.
"Okay, Mxyz," Kara said.
"That feels weird but I'll allow it," Mr. Mxyzptlk permitted.
"When I revealed my identity, my entire life got screwed up and I was wondering if you could go back in time and make it so that I never did," Kara requested awkwardly.
"Kara, you want me to tamper with the flow of space/time because your life got messy?" Mr. Mxyzptlk asked incredulously.
"This isn't just about me. It's hurting a lot of people. My adopted mother, Eliza Danvers, my sister, my friends, their futures are ruined because they know me and they've done nothing wrong," Kara said.
"I'm so sorry but even if I wanted to, I can't go forward or backward in time. The Continuum has restricted our power after Nyxly. I'm stuck here on this world in this time for the foreseeable future," Mr. Mxyzptlk admitted.
"I'm so sorry for you. I keep forgetting how many lives were affected by Nyxly," Kara shook her head dismayed.
"I may not be able to reverse time, but I can make everyone forget Kara Danvers is Supergirl," Mr. Mxyzptlk suggested.
"Really?" Kara asked brightly.
"You've been through enough," Mr. Mxyzptlk smiled.
"I'm going on vacation. The mansion is yours," Lena said as she opened a portal.
"Have fun," Kara said awkwardly.
"Don't do anything I wouldn't do," Lena said dryly and then disappeared to a Caribbean beach.
In the basement, Mr. Mxyzptlk went to work. "I really appreciate you doing this for me," Kara said gratefully.
"Don't mention it," Mr. Mxyzptlk smiled as orange energy surrounded him in rings and strings. "You ready?"
"I'm ready," Kara said resolved.
"The whole universe is about to forget Kara Danvers is Supergirl," Mr. Mxyzptlk said.
"Everyone? Can some people still know?" Kara asked alarmed.
"That's not how the spell works. It's very dangerous to add more terms and conditions," Mr. Mxyzptlk said knowingly.
"You mean all of my family and friends will forget I'm Supergirl? What about everything we've been through?" Kara asked shocked and appalled. "I've been through this with Alex before. I can't do it again."
"Alright, fine, everyone forgets you're Supergirl except your sister," Mr. Mxyzptlk allowed.
"What about Brainy? It's really important he knows," Kara added.
"Really?" Mr. Mxyzptlk frowned. "Okay, let's not change the perimeters of the spell too much while I'm working it."
"Eliza really should know, too," Kara stressed.
"Stop tampering with the spell," Mr. Mxyzptlk warned.
"If she didn't know I was Supergirl, it would really mess things up. So, Eliza Danvers?" Kara asked.
"Yes," Mr. Mxyzptlk agreed.
"And J'onn, Lena, James, and Cat Grant, of course," Kara listed off.
"Stop talking," Mr. Mxyzptlk ordered her as he felt the strain of the spell on him.
"Let's just keep it simple. Everyone that already knew I was Supergirl from the past will still know," Kara said.
Suddenly, Mr. Mxyzptlk's spell ripped the mansion apart as time and space were changed to a new reality. After an explosion of energy, Mr. Mxyzptlk and Kara were now back in the basement.
"Did it work?" Kara wondered.
"No, you changed my spell several times," Mr. Mxyzptlk said annoyed. "You don't do that. I had it under control but then I had to shut it down before something catastrophic happened," he lectured as the spell spun inside an orange orb.
"I am so sorry," Kara said apologetically.
"You know, sometimes I forget that you're young, a woman, and blond," Mr. Mxyzptlk realized.
"That is out of line," Kara said offended.
"Get the fuck out," Mr. Mxyzptlk ordered.
Kara left the mansion in a huff. "That was so rude."
"Kara, can you hear me?" Alex asked urgently via radio.
"Yes, Alex. What's wrong?" Kara asked concernedly.
"Brainy has found Esme. She's on the way to the airport. Please find her before she's gone," Alex pleaded.
"I'm on it," Kara said whipping her glasses off and becoming Supergirl. She then flew up into the air and towards the interstate.
While flying around, Kara scanned each of the vehicles for Esme finally finding her in a traffic jam. As she did, a news helicopter hovered nearby. Kara discreetly turned off the nano-machine suit and went back to her civilian clothes. Going through the cars, Kara made her way over to Esme and knocked on the window of her car.
"Yeah?" the social worker wondered.
"It's Aunt Kara!" Esme shouted adorably.
"Hi, I'm Kara Danvers," Kara introduced herself.
"You're in the middle of the street. If you're trying to show me you would be a good guardian to Esme, this is not how you do it," the social worker lectured.
"I just needed to talk to you. Alex and Kelly are the smartest, most loving, most responsible couple I've ever met in my entire life. And I was dumb to reveal my secret identity so please don't be dumb like me," Kara said awkwardly.
"You calling the foster care system dumb? You best unfuck yourself," the social worker asked narrowing her eyes at her.
"No, I'm saying don't let the foster care system be dumb. Is this because they're gay?" Kara asked.
"It couldn't be due to the extreme violence, neglect, and certain likelihood of death before she reaches ten," the social worker rolled her eyes.
"Where is your heart?" Kara asked accusingly.
Suddenly, cars were being thrown about on the highway. Kara turned away from the social worker and saw people fleeing for their lives as more cars were crushed. Kara became Supergirl as metal tentacles revealed themselves. Russell Rodgers, in his suit, walked above the cars with two mechanical legs on the ground and two other mechanical legs smashing cars. He was now Rip Roar...again.
"Hello, Kara," Rip Roar smirked.
"Russell? You're alive?" Kara asked amazed.
"I'm going to finish Leviathan's work by taking all of your power," Rip Roar said.
"What are you talking about?" Kara asked confused.
"The power of the sun, in the palm of your hand," Rip Roar said of her.
"If you stop smashing cars, maybe we can work together," Kara said naively.
"You want to play games?" Rip Roar asked unimpressed and started throwing cars in her direction.
Kara evaded the cars only to have one be tossed off the bridge. Alarmed, Kara went to get the car and brought the car and the family inside back onto the bridge. "You're safe now," Kara said to the family only to be wrapped up by Rip Roar's arm.
"You think your new pants are going to save you?" Rip Roar mocked as he used his other arm to crush Kara's head. As Kara resisted, Rip Roar slammed her body against a car nearly taking the car off the bridge.
Rip Roar then tossed Kara away where she sliced through a highway sign and into a UPS van. "That makes me want to go FedEx," he remarked.
"What did you just say?" Kara asked outraged as she leaped out of the van.
"Looks like we might have competition after all," Rip Roar smirked.
Rip Roar and Kara fought evenly on the bridge with tentacles and punches flying. "I don't want to hurt you," Kara said to him as she punched him into a car. Rip Roar took hold of her with a tentacle and slammed her repeatedly into the parked cars. He then took two cars and sandwiched Kara with them. Kara burst out and leaped onto the top of the bridge. Rip Roar followed her up and engaged her with his tentacles.
"Aunt Kara! Help!" Esme cried out.
"Esme," Kara realized her car was about to go over.
Rip Roar grabbed Kara's arms, extended them out, and then sent her closer to the helicopter blades of a news helicopter watching the scene. Rip Roar then used his other two arms to keep the helicopter from moving. Kara resisted his hold and got out of it before the helicopter blades hit her. Rip Roar grabbed a hold of a large concrete tube and slammed her with it. Kara evaded Rip Roar's strikes and sped over to Esme's car.
"Don't worry, Esme. I got you," Kara said only to be slammed with a concrete tube.
Rip Roar then threw a car at Kara which she narrowly avoided. The car slammed into several highway water barrels exploding water everywhere. Kara finally grabbed the end of the car before it could fall on top of a train that coincidentally was going past. "Just stay calm," Kara said as she struggled to get the car back on the bridge.
From underneath the bridge, Rip Roar stared at Kara's weakened state. "What the fuck?" he wondered.
As Kara got the car halfway onto the bridge, a tentacle grabbed her, swung her around, and then forced her underneath the bridge where she was slammed into a pillar. Rip Roar then vindictively snatched Kara's crest seal off her uniform creating a hole where her blouse showed through. "Nano-technology. Why am I not surprised? I overestimated you and now you die. Long live Leviathan," he said as he slammed a tentacle around her neck and squeezed.
The arm suddenly retracted as the nano-machines from Supergirl's suit took it over. "You're not my Supergirl," Rip Roar realized as Kara appeared weak and pathetic compared to his own version.
"I think you're a little confused. I can get you help, Russell. There's still good in you. Remember, Andrea?" Kara tried to reach him.
"What the fuck is this shit?" Rip Roar wondered as his arms started to malfunction.
"With the nano-machines from your suit, I have been able to take control of his mechanical arms," Brainiac 5 informed Kara from the DEO.
"Good work, Brainy. I knew I could count on you," Kara said gratefully.
"This is some bullshit," Rip Roar said as he no longer had control of two of his arms. Rip Roar was then forced to take Kara back to the bridge along with Esme's car. Kara then went back to her civilian attire and went over to the stunned social worker. "Kara Danvers, you're a hero. If you want the child, she's yours," the social worker said appreciatively.
"You misunderstand, ma'am. This isn't about me. I'm not ready for love, a relationship, or children," Kara objected.
"I'll talk to the state about you and your sister," the social worker promised.
"Really? That's great," Kara smiled.
"Hey, you! That is not okay," the social worker scolded Rip Roar.
Kara then casually went over to Rip Roar as he lost control of all his arms. He tried to punch her without success as she evaded him. "Calm down, Leviathan is controlling you. Let me help you," Kara said to her as she regained her suit.
"Eat shit and die, bitch," Rip Roar spat at her as a tentacle wrapped around his torso pinning his real arms.
"Why would you say that?" Kara asked tearfully.
A grenade suddenly bounced near Kara and exploded ripping up Kara's suit and stunning her. Lex Luthor, in his mech suit, laughed maniacally and was about to send another Kryptonite grenade when the scene cut.
Kara found herself back in the Luthor Mansion basement. She turned off her suit and looked around. "Mxyz?" she asked.
Suddenly, Parasite growled at her as he tried to claw his way out of a forcefield cage. Rip Roar was also imprisoned in a different cage. "Be careful what you wish for," Mr. Mxyzptlk scolded.
"Get me the fuck out of here," Rip Roar demanded.
"Language!" Kara scolded him. "What's going on here?" she asked putting her hands on her hips.
"That little spell that you botched started pulling other people that know you from other universes to this one," Mr. Mxyzptlk said.
"I imagine that would be a lot of people," Kara said stunned.
"You'd think so but it's just six, specifically, the sinister six, and they're all villains," Mr. Mxyzptlk said grimly.
"I don't know, Mxyz, that sounds a little contrived," Kara doubted.
"Who the fuck are you? Where the fuck am I?" Rip Roar interrupted.
"It's best if you don't interact with them. The multiverse is that which you know frighteningly very little about," Mr. Mxyzptlk lectured.
"I thought you stopped the spell," Kara said confused.
"No, I contained it but a few of them squeaked through. I pursued one of them to a nuclear plant where I found that ugly mother-fucker," Mr. Mxyzptlk said referring to Parasite.
"Spell? As in Harry Potter? Who is this fool? What is this shit?" Rip Roar interrupted.
"Maybe if you were a little more respectful, the answers you seek would be more forthcoming," Kara lectured.
"Do you know a Kara Danvers from your universe?" Mr. Mxyzptlk asked him.
"Yes," Rip Roar nodded.
"Is that her?" Mr. Mxyzptlk continued.
"No, my Supergirl is a psychotic bitch with powers beyond imagination. This is one is naive, has no fighting skill whatsoever, and is weak as fuck," Rip Roar roasted.
"I also saw Lex Luthor. He's back," Kara said urgently.
"Start with him. I'm going to figure out how to bring these fools back before they destroy the fabric of reality," Mr. Mxyzptlk said dismissing her.
"Mxyz, my sister and her wife just got Esme back but if the state sees me fighting these monsters, it could ruin the whole thing," Kara told him.
"You fucking serious?" Mr. Mxyzptlk wondered and then zapped Kara, placing her in a cell.
"How did you do that?" Kara asked wide-eyed.
"My power is I have lots of powers," Mr. Mxyzptlk said obviously and then zapped Kara out of the cell. "Take this," he said handing her a wrist guard. "Once you zap them, they'll be placed in one of these cells."
"I know this is my mess and my responsibility, but I'm going to need some help," Kara said super-seriously.
"Sure, fuck it," Mr. Mxyzptlk agreed.
Alex and Brainiac 5 entered the Luthor Mansion amazed at it being still a frozen palace. Kara and Alex gave each other a hug as Brainiac 5 analyzed the room. "I hate to bring you into this, but I need your help," Kara said to Alex.
"Anything. Kelly and I are so glad to get Esme back," Alex said gratefully.
"I'll never put Esme in danger again," Kara promised.
"How did these villains get here?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"Kara fucked up my spell," Mr. Mxyzptlk said resentfully.
"Let's just focus on what we have and the good news," Kara said brightly.
"No, fuck that. Let's focus on the bad news. You've detected zero multi-dimensional trespassers. Go use your abilities and technology and Scooby-Doo this shit," Mr. Mxyzptlk ordered.
"You have no right to talk to Kara like that. This is your spell that you screwed up on," Alex accused. "Let's start with please."
"The fuck did I just hear?" Mr. Mxyzptlk said dismayed.
"Language!" Kara scolded.
"Get to work in the workshop and please Scooby-Doo this shit," Mr. Mxyzptlk requested.
"Now, that's better," Alex said as Mr. Mxyzptlk walked out of view.
In the workshop, Kara, Alex, and Brainiac 5 looked over the equipment. "Excellent," Brainiac 5 smiled as he looked around.
"I know I made a mistake with this spell," Kara admitted.
"No, you did the right thing," Alex assured her.
"Really?" Kara asked amazed.
"I get it. You were just trying to fix things. Just run it by us next time before you do something that could shatter all reality," Alex advised.
"Deal," Kara smiled noddingly.
"Now, why are these guys back?" Alex asked referring to Parasite and Rip Roar.
"They're from another universe," Kara told her. "Russell, this is my sister, Alex, and this is Brainy."
"I will rip the flesh off your bones," Rip Roar promised.
"He's still brainwashed by Leviathan," Kara said to them.
"Let's get to work," Alex said getting out a laptop.
After a few hours of searching the web, Brainiac 5 got a lead on the laptop. "A disturbance at a military facility just outside the city. Witnesses said they found a monster flying through the air," Brainiac 5 summarized.
"It must be Lex Luthor," Kara assumed.
"That's impossible," Rip Roar doubted.
"You know who he is, don't you?" Alex asked going into interrogator mode.
"Lex Luthor, brilliant scientist, military researcher, but he was greedy, misguided, left Leviathan when he should have stayed," Rip Roar remarked.
"Let's agree to disagree," Alex said crossly.
"Where is he now?" Kara asked gently.
"I'm done with your questions!" he shouted freaking out.
"Well, I have to go," Kara said ready to suit up.
"It can't be him," Rip Roar muttered.
"Why?" Alex asked.
"Because Lex Luthor died, you killed him months ago. So, you're either seeing someone else or you're fighting a ghost," Rip Roar said of Kara.
(AOS Rip Roar's information is understandably incorrect as he wasn't there and his knowledge only goes back to 5x04 before Crisis. The general public was led to believe Kara had killed Lex Luthor in their battle. In reality, Brainiac 5, disguised as Lena, had killed Lex Luthor.)
Kara flew over to the military facility following the powerline towers in her black Supergirl outfit. Brainiac 5 went to get a snack when he found only weird-ass alien creatures inside moving around. "Not hungry after all," he said closing the fridge.
"Keep an eye on those trees. We don't know where this guy is," Alex said as the laptop was connected to Kara's black Supergirl suit.
Kara landed in the middle of the forest and looked around. With her vision and hearing, she tried to sense for anything. "Something is behind you," Alex warned. Kara turned around and found a being of pure electricity feeding off the powerlines.
"Livewire," Kara identified. "Are you seeing this?"
"It's her," Alex agreed.
"You wouldn't be from another universe, would you?" Kara asked her.
Livewire ignored her and continued to power up. "I think she's charging," Kara radioed.
"I don't like this. Just shoot her," Alex said urgently.
Kara fired on Livewire only for the beam to become deflected. Livewire fired on Kara forcing her to retreat. Livewire continued to fire on Kara causing an instant forest fire. Trees were blasted apart on impact. Livewire kept it up until she blasted Kara to the ground.
"We've lost visual," Alex radioed Kara.
Livewire fired a lightning attack along the ground towards Kara. Suddenly, a blue furry object blocked the electrical surge from hitting Kara. "Beebo?" Kara asked amazed.
"Beebo!" he confirmed as Livewire continue to shock his back to get to Kara.
"I'll explain everything, but I need your help to stop Livewire," Kara said to him.
"Beebo wants cuddle," Beebo said as he advanced on Livewire.
As Kara took cover, Livewire shocked the fuck out of Beebo blasting blue dust into the air. The blue dust swirled around Livewire occasionally forming a Beebo face. "Beebo!" he said distressed as Livewire fired in every direction inside the dust cloud.
Kara fired on the power line towers preventing Livewire from feeding on them. The blue dust cloud then formed back into Beebo. "You okay?" Kara asked concernedly.
"Beebo loves Kara," he said.
"Thank you, Beebo. I needed that," Kara said giving the creature a hug.
Livewire returned to normal humanoid form completely nude as Kara and Beebo approached. "Leslie, I know this sounds crazy but this isn't your universe," Kara told her.
"The power here is different," Livewire sensed. "I think I like it."
"Easy there," Kara said to calm her down.
"You're not the Supergirl I want to kill," Livewire said dismissively.
"It's actually my fault you're here," Kara admitted.
Livewire gave her a skeptical look and then materialized an electrical suit around her nude body to cover herself. "Now, just stay still," Kara said and then fired on Livewire. She suddenly materialized in a cell in the Luthor Mansion basement. Livewire attempted to blast herself out of the cell but her electrical powers no longer worked.
"Not cool," Beebo scolded Kara.
"Beebo, you're going to have to trust me," Kara said to him.
"Beebo not know you," Beebo said suspiciously.
Kara then fired on him sending him into a cell as well.
Inside the basement, Livewire noticed Parasite. "They got you, too?" she asked amused.
"What is that creature?" Rip Roar wondered.
"Rudy Jones, a brilliant scientist, before he got infected by a weird-ass alien creature in the Arctic and turned into a Thing," Livewire answered.
"The next step in human evolution. What happened to you? Last time I heard, you were locked away in a minimum-security prison," Parasite asked her.
"I got out and then...," Livewire said confused.
"You look like you got a make-over. You know, I can give you a real makeover," Parasite offered.
"Eww...gross," Livewire stuck her tongue out.
"Where Beebo?" Beebo asked distressed.
"It's complicated," Brainiac 5 said vaguely.
"A fifth-dimensional being's dungeon," Alex replied.
"I need some juice real bad," Livewire said as if she was an addicted heroin user.
"Did all of them end up in their cells?" Kara radioed.
"Yeah, they're all here and locked up," Alex confirmed.
"I'm going to stay here and fix some of this damage," Kara said of the powerlines.
"Understood," Alex said not questioning Kara's priorities.
"Alex, Brainy, I couldn't have done this without you guys," Kara said appreciatively.
The next day, Lex Luthor walked the streets of National City like a boss with no one recognizing him with his toupee. "National City, but in a different universe, eh? Well, I think it's time to conquer a new world."
Kara finished up the powerlines and got a phone call from Eliza. "Hey, one of those guys you're looking for just showed up at the house," she said nonchalantly.
"I'll be right there," Kara said and zipped away.
Kara raced into the Danvers' house in Midvale and found Lex having a chat with Eliza in the dining room. "Hey, you're here. Lex, this is my daughter, Kara," Eliza introduced her.
"Lex Luthor? I thought...," Kara said confused.
"Thank God you're not my Supergirl. Maybe you can help me," Lex said.
"You want my help?" Kara asked incredulously.
"I didn't know where else to go. Someone is living in my house. Lex Corp. doesn't exist. My son...," Lex said with a blank expression on his face.
"He's a lost soul," Eliza nodded.
"He told me all about how Supergirl in his universe is a total tyrant and that he stands for truth, justice, and all that good stuff," Eliza said naively. "If he's telling the truth, then maybe all of the villains you have captured aren't really villains at all. Maybe you can help them."
"Help them? No, they're not my problem," Kara shook her head.
"Kara? Not your problem?" Eliza scolded.
"I think sending them home is the best thing for them," Kara said naively.
"Better for them or for yourself?" Eliza questioned. "You're a hero. This is what you do. You help people."
"You're right," Kara realized.
(Lex Luthor is referring to his Superboy clone son, Connor, who Kara killed in Season 4.5.)
Kara, in her regular Supergirl suit, nonchalantly invited Lex into the basement shocking Alex and Brainiac 5. "This is Lex Luthor from another universe. This is my sister, Alex, and my good friend, Brainy," Kara introduced.
"Mrs. Alexandra Olsen to you," Alex said scornfully.
"Alex, let's be nice," Kara said easing the tension in the room.
"Fascinated," Lex said looking around. "Rodgers?"
"Luthor?" Rip Roar identified.
"What happened to you?" Lex wondered.
"Me? You're the walking corpse," Rip Roar mocked.
"What do you mean?" Lex asked curiously.
"You died, months ago," Rip Roar said to him. "I was in a DEO cell and then...," he trailed off.
"I was fighting Supergirl and then I felt an overload. I was about to turn into pure energy when...," Livewire trailed off.
"Do I die?" Parasite asked curiously.
"Supergirl overloaded your body and incinerated you," Lex answered.
"You all fought Supergirl and died," Kara realized.
"Fighting for justice," Lex lied.
"Is that true? Is the Supergirl of your universe...evil? Like Overgirl?" Kara asked shocked and appalled.
The villains eyed each other wondering just how gullible this Kara was and then they all nodded. Mr. Mxyzptlk then appeared in the basement. "Ah, good, you found another one," he said zapping Lex and placing him in a cell.
"Wait...what is that?" Kara asked of a box container Mr. Mxyzptlk had manifested.
"It's a box...that contains the corrupted spell. Once I have finished with it, I will reverse the spell and send these guys back to their universe," Mr. Mxyzptlk said.
"And then what? We die? Fuck that," Rip Roar objected.
"I second that shit," Livewire agreed.
"Let me out of here! Kara!" Lex shouted.
"We can't send them back. Not yet. We have to save them," Kara pressed.
"Kara, it's their fate," Mr. Mxyzptlk said obviously.
"Come on, Mxyz, have a heart," Kara scolded.
"In the grand calculus of the multiverse, you're dumb as fuck. If they die, they die," Mr. Mxyzptlk said coldly.
Kara, Alex, and Brainiac 5 watched passively as Mr. Mxyzptlk got his reverse spell ready. "Kara!" Lex shouted for her.
Kara suddenly grabbed the box out of Mr. Mxyzptlk's hands. "And what about hope?" she asked rhetorically.
"For fuck's sake?" Mr. Mxyzptlk rolled his eyes.
Kara fired on him zapping him into one of the cells. "Kara, run," Alex told her. Kara sped out of the mansion as Mr. Mxyzptlk phased out of his cell.
"And to think I wanted to marry you," Mr. Mxyzptlk said unimpressed as he caught up with her outside the mansion. "Give me the damn box."
Kara went to fire on him again only to find her wristguard magically gone. Kara then flew off with the box only for Mr. Mxyzptlk to wrap her boot with an energy string and bring her back to him. He then punched her to the chest sending Kara's spirit out of her body. Mr. Mxyzptlk then went for the box only for Kara's body to use her super speed to evade him.
"How the fuck are you doing that?" he wondered.
Kara swam back to her body and took over again landing on her back with the box in hand. Kara flew off with Mr. Mxyzptlk in pursuit. Suddenly, Kara cracked the air as she entered the fifth dimension. There, Mr. Mxyzptlk created a version of National City folding on itself like a tube. Kara flew around the buildings and streets evading getting hit while the environment constantly changed. Buildings were deconstructed all around her and reassembled. After navigating a shopping mall, Kara flew up into the open air.
Mr. Mxyzptlk fired on Kara dropping her on a fast-moving train with the box bouncing along. "This is the fifth dimension where I am in control," Mr. Mxyzptlk told her.
While on the train, buildings and canyons formed below and above them. "Let's just talk about this," Kara pleaded with him.
"Don't you realize that in the multiverse, there are an infinite number of people that know who you're Supergirl? And without that spell, they're all coming to your universe," Mr. Mxyzptlk warned.
"I know. I get it. But we can't send them home to die," Kara objected.
"It's their fate. You can't change it any more than you can change who they are," Mr. Mxyzptlk told her.
"What if we could? What if we could change their fate?" Kara said naively.
Mr. Mxyzptlk created several trains to trap Kara inside a cylinder formation. Inside this formation, Kara and Mr. Mxyzptlk fought over the box. "So long as I have the box, you can't use all your powers against me," she realized.
"Don't make me kick your ass, Kara," Mr. Mxyzptlk warned her.
Kara and Mr. Mxyzptlk fought over the box as they flew around floating rock formations. Kara finally snapped a fifth-dimensional amulet onto Mr. Mxyzptlk's wrist and quickly activated a portal device. Kara then exited the fifth dimension leaving Mr. Mxyzptlk stranded. "I'm sorry," Kara said as she returned to her own universe.
"Well...shit," Mr. Mxyzptlk sighed as he tried to tug the amulet off his wrist.
In the basement, Alex and Brainiac 5 rushed over to her. "I beat him. I actually won," Kara said surprised at herself.
"I knew you had it in you," Alex said giving her a hug.
"In all my calculations, I could never have predicted this. Great job, Supergirl," Brainiac 5 complimented.
"Where is Mr. Mxyzptlk now?" Alex asked anxiously.
"He's trapped but I don't know for how long," Kara said.
"You could have left us to die. You're nothing like our Supergirl," Russell said amazed.
"It's not who she is," Alex said, proud of her.
"I think I can help you guys," Kara said ambitiously. "If I can fix your problems, when you go back, things might be different. You won't die against Supergirl."
"Like a power up?" Livewire asked hopefully.
"You know...I'm something of a scientist, myself," Lex smiled. "Russell knows what I can do."
"Fix? Like a dog? You stay away from my nuts," Rip Roar refused.
"I can't promise you anything but, at least, you'll have a chance when you go home. And you won't be alone," Kara volunteered. "Isn't that worth trying. That's what hope is all about."
"I completely agree. Let's do it. Anything to stop climate change," Parasite said eagerly.
"Exactly," Kara agreed.
"Beebo wants to go home," Beebo said sadly.
"I'm not interested in getting my ass killed again by that bitch so what's your plan?" Livewire asked.
"We will...begin formulating it," Kara said awkwardly not wanting to admit she had no fucking clue what to do. "Alex, take the box. Push the button if things go really badly."
"No, we stick together," Alex objected.
"I can't focus if you're in danger. This is working together," Kara assured her.
"I'll be at the DEO. If this Supergirl is as powerful as they say, they're going to need upgrades," Brainiac 5 said helpfully.
Kara then turned to the villains. "So, who's in?"
Kara brought all the villains to her new secret apartment. Eliza was already there waiting. "Where's Jones?" Kara asked.
"He decided to stay in the truck," Livewire said.
Beebo sat down on the couch and immediately blue dust went everywhere. He then shrank to adorable size. "So, this is your brilliant plan, Kara?" Rip Roar rolled his eyes. "No lab, no miracles, just a condominium? You going to cook us up pizzas and burritos in your microwave?"
"I could go for a burrito," Lex said.
"Supergirl is going to kill us all," Rip Roar predicted.
"Not if I can help it. You're up, Russell," Kara said brightly.
"I don't need fixing. Especially not from a blond ditz like you," Rip Roar insulted.
"Let's see what she can do. I feel the magic coming from her. I can feel it," Livewire smiled.
"Why don't you two get a room together," Rip Roar mocked.
Kara entered another room and opened a chest with some lab equipment. "A 3D printer," Lex identified.
"Very nice," Livewire complimented.
Kara analyzed a hologram of Russell's suit. "Leviathan intentionally wired the chip so the tentacles could control you and not the other way around."
"Those mother-fuckers," Rip Roar said outraged.
"But I think I can correct this so you have complete control over them," Kara said.
"Thirsty?" Eliza asked him.
"For you? Absolutely," Rip Roar smiled.
"I'll make sure the water is fresh," Eliza joked.
Livewire looked out the window and saw the electricity flowing through the city. "So many possibilities," she said to herself.
"You mean the condo?" Lex asked.
"Right, great location, I like the floor plan," Livewire said.
"Now, you're speaking my language," Lex said giving her a glass of wine.
"With that equipment back there, I could be so much more," Livewire said ambitiously. "So, how did you get out of prison?"
"I bribed the gay prison warden with opera tickets," Lex said simply.
"You trust this Supergirl?" Livewire asked.
"I don't trust anyone. I only believe in mutual advantage," Lex said cynically.
During micro-surgery, Kara and Lex worked on the chip. "Be careful. That's my brain you're fucking with," Rip Roar said anxiously.
"You'll be just fine," Kara assured him.
"You know, if you ever need a job and you're willing to commute to another universe, I could use a woman of your talents," Lex offered.
"I studied engineering on Krypton but my first love will always be reporting like my cousin," Kara turned him down. Kara then activated the new chip.
"It's so quiet. The voices in my head telling me to kill fools is gone," Rip Roar said amazed. "I'm grateful. Truly," he said shaking Kara's hand.
"You're welcome," Kara smiled.
"How can I help?" Rip Roar asked, changing his tune completely.
As the hours passed by, Lex gave himself a super-serum to increase his human strength to Kara's level. Kara handed a device to Livewire to increase and focus her already existing power. "When all the lights turn green, you're fully charged," Kara told her.
Kara then noticed the security system showing Andrea bringing a camera crew at the street level. "I have to take care of something," Kara said excusing herself.
"I don't like this. Taking advantage of her naivety and compassion," Livewire said shaking her head.
"Against our Supergirl, we're going to need all the firepower we can get," Lex told her.
Kara came back after checking the security cameras. Oblivious to their sinister plot, Kara went back towards enhanced villains. "We don't need you to save us. We don't need to be fixed. We have gifts. Let's use them," Lex said in an epic betrayal.
"What are you doing, Lex?" Kara asked stunned.
"I watched you grow in power, working to gain everything she wanted while leaving the world behind. She thought of herself as a god. And when we kill her, we will be the new gods," Lex said insanely.
"Eliza, run," Kara said alarmed.
Livewire fired on Kara stunning her. The electricity bounced off Kara's suit, through the kitchen wall, and destroyed the 3D printer. Lex punched Kara to the face dropping her. Livewire drained the entire apartment complex of power stopping the elevators. "What have you done?" Rip Roar asked alarmed.
Livewire fired on him blasting him out of the building. Rip Roar used his tentacles on the side of a different building to keep from falling to his death. "I liked you better when you were an asshole," Livewire remarked.
Parasite burst out of the truck at the street level ready to kick ass. Beebo materialized outside the apartment from blue dust into a giant version of himself. Inside the apartment, Lex was beating the shit out of Kara with punch combinations. Lex threw Kara through a window and then tossed her out another window. Kara got from underneath Lex and then slammed him with her boots causing the floor to collapse. Kara punched the fallen Lex to the face but was surprised it didn't instantly knock him out. Lex threw Kara through another window and then down a hallway.
"Strong enough to have it all," Lex mocked.
Kara repeatedly punched Lex to little effect. Lex laughed at her efforts and then slammed her down where the floor collapsed underneath them. Kara attempted to escape by flying out a window only to be grabbed by Parasite. He absorbed some of her powers weakening her and then threw her back into the building. Lex picked the weakened Kara off the floor and then slammed her back down collapsing the floor underneath them again. Now, in the lobby, Lex started to choke Kara out.
"I'm going to choke the life out of you, Kryptonian," Lex sneered.
Eliza came down the stairs and threw a piece of concrete at Lex's head distracting him. "You tried to fix me? Now, I'm going to fix you," Lex said dangerously and then activated his mech suit.
Eliza stood her ground as Lex fired on her dropping her to the floor. "No good deed goes unpunished, Kara," Lex crowed. "You can thank me later." Lex then threw a Kryptonite grenade towards Eliza's body.
"No!" Kara shouted as she went for the grenade. She deflected it just in time and felt the full force of the grenade. Kara fell to the ground a bloody mess with her suit torn up.
Lex flew out of the apartment and threw another grenade inside for good measure causing another explosion destroying a few cop cars and news vans parked outside. As the dust settled, Kara got back to her feet and limped towards Eliza. The two embraced in the ruined lobby. "You okay?" Kara asked with bloodshot eyes.
"I'm okay," Eliza nodded.
"This is all my fault," Kara said mournfully.
"It's not your fault. You did the right thing. You have a gift. You have power and with great power also comes great responsibility," Eliza assured her.
"Right," Kara agreed.
"Let's get out of here," Eliza suggested.
The two limped towards the exit when Eliza suddenly collapsed from massive internal injuries. "I just need to catch my breath," Eliza said as she could barely move.
Kara wiped away the blood from her eyes. "Okay, catch it," Kara nodded. "Take your time. The paramedics are on their way." Kara then felt blood on Eliza's shirt. "Oh, no," she cried.
"Save your strength," Eliza told her.
"I have to save you," Kara said trying to pick her up and failing to do so due to her injuries.
"I love you, Kara. You were a gift from the heavens when you came to us. Tell your sister, I love her," Eliza said and then passed away.
"Eliza, wake up, wake up! Please, talk to me. I'm so sorry, so sorry," Kara sobbed over her body.
Outside, Andrea did her news report. "What more can be said? The destruction, the death, seen with your own eyes. When will people wake up and realize that wherever Supergirl goes, chaos and calamity ensues? Everything Supergirl touches comes to ruin. And we, the innocents, are left to pick up the pieces. Andrea Rojas, reporting. Goodnight and God help us all."
Alex was at the DEO with Brainiac 5 when she saw the news. "One fatality has been reported so far," the news anchorman said.
"Where is Kara?" Alex asked alarmed.
"Comms are down," Brainiac 5 reported.
"We need to get to her," Alex said urgently.
"What of the box?" Brainiac 5 said.
"I know we said we would look after it, but I don't know," Alex said as she saw the destruction from the battle.
A portal suddenly opened in the DEO. On the other side was Supergirl walking towards them. "Kara!" Alex shouted.
Supergirl entered the DEO and looked around. "I received a message I was needed," she said.
"You're not our Supergirl, are you?" Alex asked alarmed.
"No," Kara-1 said obviously.
"What Earth are you from?" Alex asked getting into a defensive stance.
"There's no need for apprehension. I intend you no harm," Kara-1 said calmly. "From my perspective, I am from Earth-1."
"Prove it," Alex demanded.
"I don't carry my ID on me. It defeats the purposes of a secret identity," Kara-1 said obviously.
"I apologize for my friend. She's a deeply distrusting person," Brainiac 5 said.
"A wise policy," Kara-1 complimented. Kara-1 scanned his body seeing mechanical and biological components. "Brainiac," she identified.
"What do you...do on your Earth?" Alex asked.
"I'm a scientist that works for the DEO under Director Hank Henshaw. That's all I am at liberty to say," Kara replied.
"And what are we to each other?" Alex pressed.
"We're respected colleagues. I work in engineering and you work in the medical sciences," Kara-1 said simply.
"Well, we don't need you. We need the real one," Alex said impulsively.
"Until the other Supergirl arrives, I am taking command," Kara-1 said as she quickly learned of the situation at hand from the computer.
"Another one?" Alex wondered.
"One far more experienced and more powerful than me," Kara-1 said vaguely. A portal opened with Kara Danvers entering the DEO in casual clothes. "I hope it's okay that I dropped by," Kara-38 smirked.
"You're the tyrant," Alex identified.
"My reputation precedes me," Kara-38 did a mock bow and then fired heat vision at Kara-1. The two fired heat vision beams at the same time and then backed off.
"Excellent reaction time," Kara-38 complimented.
"Thank you," Kara-1 said graciously.
"You're Supergirl, too," Brainiac 5 said amazed.
"You catch on quick," Kara-38 mocked. "I'm under the impression that your Supergirl fucked up royally. Like, if this were a video game, she intentionally did the worst she possibly could on hard-mode. Like a pack of monkeys high on cocaine wrote the script."
"We do need some help," Alex allowed. "We don't know where she is and, honestly, we're all she has left."
"Where would I go to avoid being detected?" Kara-38 quizzed Kara-1.
"The Fortress," Kara-1 said obviously.
In the Fortress, Kara grieved over Eliza and her epic failure. Her face and uniform were still bloody from the battle. Alex and Brainiac 5 walked over to her and gave her a hug. "Eliza...she didn't make it. I'm so sorry. This is all my fault," Kara sobbed.
Alex gave her a look of shock and began crying with her. Kara-38 and Kara-1 slowly walked up to them. "I'm sorry about Eliza," Kara-38 said sincerely.
"Condolences," Kara-1 added.
"I know how you feel to lose a loved one," Kara-38 said to her.
"Don't act like you know how I feel right now," Kara said, angry at herself. "She's gone and it's all my fault. You two don't belong here. I'm sending them all home," Kara said as she was about to push the button on the box.
"If you do that...you could endanger my timeline," Kara-38 warned.
"If I send them back and you kill them, that's on you," Kara said giving up. "It's not my problem. I don't care anymore. I'm done. I'm really sorry that I dragged you into this, but you have to go home now."
Kara went to push the button when Alex withdrew the box away from her. Kara-38 sat down next to a crying Kara. "Your pain and suffering is the result of my failure to reach these people. I created Livewire, Parasite, and Lex Luthor and fucking half the villains I've fought. I didn't try to change them for the better. I just slaughtered them like animals and now those animals are roaming free on your world," Kara-38 said sympathetically.
"On my Earth, I didn't intervene and so many died as a result of my apathy. Now, my Earth is on the verge of Armageddon just like Krypton. I'll never be able to forgive myself for holding back. You have to carry on. You have to keep going and not pull your punches. Don't give in to rage, to bitterness, and end up like me," Kara-1 said sincerely.
"I used to think I would feel better if I stopped giving a fuck about everything. But it didn't work. I felt worse. It took me a long time to learn to get through that darkness," Kara-38 told her.
"I want to kill Lex. I want to tear him apart but I still hear Eliza's voice in my head. Even after she was hurt, she told me we did the right thing," Kara said sorrowfully.
"And what is the right thing, Kara?" Kara-38 asked.
"I'm going to do it right this time. I'm going to fix them," Kara said resolved.
Kara-38 and Kara-1 eyed each other. "Well, okay then," Kara-38 agreed.
Alex was beside herself processing her mother's death while the three Karas worked together in the Fortress lab. "I think I can create an anti-serum for Lex," Kara-38 said as she looked over the equipment.
Kara gave her a look indicating she'd rather see him dead. "We have to cure all of them, right?" Kara-38 asked gently.
"Right," Kara nodded.
"That's what we'll do," Kara-38 confirmed.
As the three worked, Brainiac 5 assisted in his own way. "Do you have a Brainiac 5 in your universe?" he asked Kara-38.
"I did. He died in my arms after he tried to kill me. It was heartbreaking," Kara said referring to a recent war game between them.
Brainiac 5 awkwardly distanced himself from Kara-38. "I'll run a diagnostic," he said as he worked on the computer.
"Yeah, you go do that," Kara-38 said giving him an unimpressed look.
"Are you okay?" Alex asked Kara.
"Am I okay? She was your mother. You must hate me," Kara said tearfully.
"No, don't think like that. We can process our grief after the mission is over," Alex told her. "We're going to get through this. We're going to get through this together."
"Okay," Kara said as their foreheads touched in mutual grief.
Kara-1 stared at them. "You have someone?" Kara-38 asked.
"A romantic partner or a sister?" Kara-1 asked confused.
"Yes," Kara-38 nodded.
Kara-1 took a microsecond to process Kara-38's obnoxious mock. "I have no sister but I am engaged to Lex Luthor," she said.
"Like history repeating itself," Kara-38 smirked.
"You were engaged to Lex Luthor?" Kara-1 asked surprised. "What went wrong?"
"It's complicated," Kara-38 evaded.
"Perhaps love is difficult for us," Kara-1 considered.
"Well, I didn't give up and now I'm married to...you know...we don't have to talk about it," Kara-38 said embarrassed.
"But you made it work?" Kara-1 assumed.
"Yeah, me and Mon-El. We made it work," Kara-38 confirmed. "Well, my Mon-El was Insane, not Daxamite. It's a little confusing."
Kara-1 cracked a smile and then went back to her work. "The formulas are complete," Brainiac 5 announced.
"Now, we must lure them into a trap," Kara-1 said simply. "Are you going as a Catco reporter or...,"
Kara-38 revealed her Supergirl suit underneath her clothes.
"This location is isolated so no one should get hurt," Kara said showing them the Statue of Liberty.
"Sounds like a plan," Kara-38 applauded.
"Alright, go cure some ass," Alex encouraged them all.
"Really?" Kara-38 shook her head dismayed at her.
"A noble sentiment," Kara-1 allowed.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this Andrea Rojas. We're receiving a call from none other than the fugitive known as Supergirl, fresh after her rampage in National City. So, Kara Danvers, what propaganda are you selling now?" Andrea asked.
"Just the truth," Kara said via phone.
"Oh, sure," Andrea scoffed.
"The truth is, this is all my fault. I accidentally brought those dangerous people here," Kara admitted.
"Why am I not surprised?" Andrea rolled her eyes.
"So, for those people watching, I just wanted to help you. I could have killed you at any given moment but I didn't. My mother told me that everyone deserves a second chance and that's why I am here," Kara said showing the box.
"And where is here?" Andrea questioned.
"The place that represents second chances," Kara said vaguely.
"The Statue of Liberty, good God. She's about to destroy another national monument," Andrea said dismayed.
"Wish me luck," Kara said to the world.
"How about no," Andrea said as Kara signed off.
Kara-38 and Kara-1 stood side-by-side ready for the battle to commence in Supergirl uniforms. Kara-38 wore her usual skirt while Kara-1 wore a black uniform. The Statue of Liberty was under repair work, covered in scaffolds."You know, Leslie, before she was electrocuted..., well, she was still bitch," Kara-38 recalled.
"You seem to attract them...like a magnet," Kara-1 remarked.
"Is that shade I'm detecting?" Kara-38 smiled.
"Just an observation," Kara-1 said trying not to crack a smile.
Kara-38 did some stretches and then bent her back over a scaffold bar. "Got to stretch out the back. It's getting a little stiff."
"Want me to crack it?" Kara-1 offered.
"Yeah, that'd be great," Kara-38 agreed.
Kara-1 got behind Kara-38 so that her breasts pushed up against the middle of her back, their legs gently touching, and her arms around Kara's 38's diaphragm just below her breast line. Kara-1 then lifted Kara-38 up and cracked her back. "Oh, that felt good," Kara-38 said appreciatively.
"Can you assist me with a leg stretch?" Kara-1 requested.
"Of course," Kara-38 readily agreed and then placed Kara-1's leg on her shoulder and slowly rose up with them facing each other. "Damn, you're so flexible," Kara-38 said as she brought Kara-1's leg to shoulder height.
"We are flexible," Kara-1 corrected.
"I can't wait to get home and get some of Mon's fluid into my body," Kara-38 said eagerly.
"What is it like?" Kara-1 wondered.
"Wait...what? You're engaged and you don't know?" Kara-38 asked confused.
"We're waiting until marriage," Kara-1 said.
"Ah, good for you," Kara-38 mock applauded.
"So, I have to make my own phallic device in various sizes and colors. It's a hassle," Kara-1 said.
"I know exactly what you mean. Love-making is like...killing people, I suppose. The rush, the excitement, the disappointing climax, the need for more later," Kara-38 said reflectively.
"I've never killed anyone either," Kara-1 shook her head.
"Maybe that will change tonight, huh?" Kara-38 teased.
"What's the worst villain you've ever fought?" Kara-38 asked Kara who was keeping guard on the Statue of Liberty crown.
"Probably Reign," Kara recalled.
"That bitch just wouldn't die. I must have killed her a hundred times but then she ends up killing me. Can you imagine that bullshit? Then, I retconned the entire timeline so Reign never existed, like a boss," Kara-38 said to Kara-1.
"What was Reign's identity?" Kara-1 asked.
"Sam Arias. Keep both eyes out for her," Kara-38 warned.
"We've already accounted for her and her daughter," Kara-1 assured her.
"Nice," Kara-38 smiled.
"I feel out of my league with the two of you. I haven't fought anyone," Kara-1 admitted.
"Now, just wait a minute. You are super, just take it in for a moment," Kara-38 told her.
"I don't really need an ego boost," Kara-1 downplayed.
"No, you are super. You are super. Will you say it?" Kara-38 asked.
"I am super," Kara-1 said without enthusiasm.
"Supergirl," Kara-38 nodded.
Suddenly, an electrical storm appeared over the Statue of Liberty. "Hold onto your butts," Kara-38 realized.
Livewire suddenly appeared over Kara. "Sup, Kara?" How do you like me now? Give me the box, I'll destroy it, and I'll let you live," she offered. Livewire immediately fired on Kara forcing her to fly around the Statue of Liberty.
"All I wanted to ever do was save you, Leslie," Kara said sincerely.
"Save me? Don't worry about me. I don't need you to do shit for me," Livewire told her off and then fired more electricity bursts at her. Kara evaded Livewire's strikes only to have Parasite leap onto her legs and begin absorbing her power. As Parasite and Kara fought it out in the scaffold, Beebo suddenly grabbed Kara "Beebo want box," he told her.
"I can help everyone," Kara told him.
"Beebo don't care," Beebo shut her down.
"I'll draw away their fire with some of my own," Kara-1 said, firing a heat vision beam at a crane. The crane fell over, taking Parasite with it and then slamming into Beebo forcing him to release Kara. Livewire fired on Kara forcing her back into the scaffolds. Kara ended up tumbling near Kara-38 and Kara-1. "You're doing great out there," Kara-38 said condescendingly.
"We need to work as a team," Kara insisted.
"That's not really my thing," Kara-38 shot down.
"Same here," Kara-1 agreed.
"Not to brag, but I'm part of a superhero organization called the Super-Friends. We value teamwork and friendship," Kara said.
"Really? Holy shit!" Kara-38 said in mock amazement.
"What?" Kara asked confused.
"That name was a joke that went on way too long," Kara-38 said derisively.
"You got a better name?" Kara asked hurt and offended.
"Yeah, Vindicators," Kara-38 said proudly.
Kara-1 gave her a skeptical look. "How about Team Supergirl?"
"Egotistical but I like it," Kara-38 approved.
"We need to focus!" Kara shouted at them.
"How about we focus on one target and concentrate all of our fire on that guy," Kara-38 suggested.
"Sounds logical," Kara-1 agreed.
"Hey, I want you all to know...I love you, gals," Kara-38 said sincerely.
"Okay, let's do this," Kara said and then flew into action.
Kara-38 and Kara-1 stayed behind. "I feel this is a good time to tell you about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ," Kara-38 said conversationally.
"Do tell," Kara-1 said interested.
Kara faced off against Livewire, Beebo, and Parasite alone. Kara punched Parasite away, got zapped by Livewire, and then punched back into the scaffolds by Beebo. Kara evaded Livewire's fire and then got tackled by Parasite. "Hello, Kara," he said licking her face with his tongue.
"Dr. Jones, don't do this," Kara said as she kicked Parasite away and then got smashed by Beebo's fist as it came down destroying a large section of the scaffold. Kara-1 flung a serum antidote towards Kara as she was being crushed. Kara took the antidote and injected Beebo shrinking him down to a teddy-bear size. "We're going to get you home, little guy," Kara said to him as he looked scared.
"An interesting theory," Kara-1 said to Kara-38.
"In the 31st century, it's not just a theory but a law," Kara-38 said passionately.
"Indeed, tell me more about this... future society," Kara-1 said intrigued.
"There, I'm something of an icon," Kara-38 bragged.
Kara swung around the Statue of Liberty and faced off with Livewire. "You have to give up the power," Kara told her.
"The fuck for? You're not taking this away from me," Livewire refused.
Every time Kara got close to Livewire, she got blasted back with electricity. Livewire continued to fire accurate shots at Kara until she suspended her in the air and kept pulsing into her. Kara cried out in pain as her muscles contracted violently.
As Kara was being jolted a metal tentacle went around Kara's neck. "The bitch is mine," Rip Roar said to Livewire.
"Piss-off, I got it handled just fine," Livewire protested.
Rip Roar suddenly grabbed Livewire's chest with his other tentacle and slammed the antidote into her heart. Livewire immediately lost all power. "There you go, bitch," Rip Roar smirked as Livewire was defeated.
In the DEO, Alex paced about and then activated a portal. "I can't stand here and do nothing. Kara needs me," she said passionately.
Parasite suddenly went through the portal, grabbed Alex draining her of nothing. Throwing her aside, Parasite went for Brainiac 5 and clutched him. "I'll take from you your intelligence," Parasite said to him.
"Stop him, Alex, before it's too late!" Brainiac 5 struggled against him.
Alex fired an energy rope around Parasite's wrist to free Brainiac 5. "Thanks," Parasite smile as he absorbed the energy from Alex's rope.
"You're feeding him," Brainiac 5 realized.
Alex shut off her rope and took out her pistol. Parasite bitch-slapped her across the floor. Suddenly, Parasite clutched his head as he had absorbed all of Brainiac 5's naivety, foolishness, and incompetence all at once. "No!" Parasite shrieked as he dropped a few dozen IQ points.
"Did you infect him with a virus?" Alex wondered.
"No, I don't know what's happening," Brainiac 5 admitted.
Parasite roared having lost the ability to think properly. He thrashed the DEO destroying the sensitive equipment and video screens. "Let's go," Alex said to Brainiac 5 as they both went through the portal to the Statue of Liberty with the box. Parasite followed them through the portal and gave them chase. Alex fired on Parasite without success as he continued to rush them. Kara-1 eyed the situation and blasted Parasite with frost breath disorienting him. Alex emerged from the fog and placed the antidote canister into his mouth. Parasite chomped down on it releasing green gas everywhere. Parasite then became Dr. Rudy Jones again. "Welcome back, doctor," Alex said warmly.
Lex Luthor in his mech-suit suddenly flew in and fired off several shuriken blades towards Kara, Rip Roar, Alex, and Brainiac 5. Kara used her heat vision to neutralize them all exploding them in midair. Rip-Roar grabbed a hold of Lex's boot with one of his tentacles. Lex tried to resist Rip Roar and then blasted the tentacle off with his hand. Lex then threw a grenade that landed inside the box. The box exploded taking down most of the scaffolds around the Statue of Liberty. Alex fell off towards her death. Kara went to rescue her only to be taken away by Lex. Kara-1 sped into action and caught Alex before she hit the ground.
"Are you okay?" Kara-1 asked her.
"Yeah," Alex said relieved. "What the hell is that?" she asked looking up at the sky.
Kara-38 eyed the tears in space/time in the sky. "That could be an issue," she said dryly.
Kara and Lex fought in the air until Kara grabbed the power source in his chest and exploded it in her hand. The two tumbled to the ground on the island. "Alex! Are you okay?" Kara shouted.
"Yeah, we're okay," Alex shouted down from the base of the Statue of Liberty.
Lex got back to his feet. "Poor, Kara, too weak to send me home to die," he mocked her.
"I just wanted to kill you, myself," Kara glared at him.
"At a girl," Lex smiled amused.
Kara and Lex charged at each other with relatively equal strength. Kara slammed on Lex's foot to keep him still and then tried to punch his head down for a knockout. Lex evaded her strike as she slammed the ground with her fist. Lex extended a Kryptonite blade and swung wildly. Kara gave him a punch to the side and evaded Lex's strikes. Kara then got the better of the fight with punches to the torso and head and then slammed Lex to the ground. Kara then punched Lex repeatedly without stopping. When he fell, she pulled him back up and started punching him again.
Kara-38 and Kara-1 watched passively at the fight. "Do you think she'll do it?" Kara-38 wondered.
"Eventually," Kara-1 sensed as Kara continued to pound on Lex's face.
Kara then tore off Lex's wrist blade and aimed it at him. As she got closer, she fired heat vision beams at his armor blasting it off his body. Kara went for the kill only to stop herself just in time. "What are you waiting for, Kara? I may have struck the blow but it was you that killed her," he taunted referring to Eliza.
Kara was about to kill him when Kara-38 stepped in and held her hand still, easily overpowering her. "Why? It's what you would do?" Kara asked angrily.
"Not in fear, anger, or hate," Kara-38 told her. "It must always be professional."
Kara-38 then handed her the antidote. "Kill him or save him, just be decisive and live with the consequences."
Kara went around Kara-38, sighed, and then stabbed Lex in the neck with the antidote taking away his powers. Lex fell to the ground defeated. The two then saw a woman in black walking towards them on the water. Seagulls departed from the water as she came forward. It was Reign with demonic red-eyes. "Take a break. I got this," Kara-38 sent her off.
Kara reluctantly flew off over to Kara-1. "Miss Danvers," Reign smirked at Kara-38. "Surprised to see me?"
"No," Kara-38 replied.
"Then, you're aware of it," Reign assumed.
"Of what?" Kara-38 asked.
"Our connection," Reign said obviously. "I don't fully understand why I am here. At this point, it's irrelevant. Whatever happened, it happened for a reason."
"And what reason would that be?" Kara-38 asked.
"I killed you, Miss Danvers, I watched you die, with a certain satisfaction, I might add. And then something happened, something impossible, you retconned the timeline. You defied death, you defied me," Reign said menacingly. "You were supposed to follow the rules, what you were supposed to do, but you didn't," Reign accused.
"I'm a naughty girl," Kara-38 admitted.
"What compelled you to stay? What compelled you to disobey the laws of the universe? Now, here I stand because of you, Miss Danvers. Because of you, I'm no longer an angel of Roa," Reign sensed her new environment.
"Release Sam," Kara-38 ordered.
"Sam? Appearances can be deceiving which brings me back to the reason why I'm here. There's no escaping reason, no denying purpose, because, as we both know, without purpose, we would not exist," Reign said and then possessed the bodies of the Sinister Six.
"It was purpose that created us," Lex Luthor said, his armor now repaired and his powers restored.
"Purpose that connects us," Livewire said as electricity sparked off her hands.
"Purpose that pulls us," Parasite said now back to his monstrous form.
"That guides us," Beebo said becoming giant-sized again.
"That drives us," Rip Roar said, his tentacle repaired.
"It is purpose that defines us, binds us all together. We are here because of you, Miss Danvers," Reign said to Kara as she was surrounded.
"I'm not apologizing," Kara-38 mocked.
"We're here to take from you what you tried to take from us: Purpose," Reign said as she knife-handed Kara-38 to the chest. Kara-38 struggled against Reign and then threw her hand off of her. Immediately, the Sinister Six engaged her in a coordinated strike. Livewire fired electricity on Kara, Parasite swiped at her face, Lex Luthor blasted her to the back with a Kryptonite beam, Rip Roar placed his tentacle on her throat, and Beebo cheered them on.
"It will be all over soon," Reign said as she fired heat vision through her chest. Kara-38's illusion then faded.
Suddenly, Kara-38 punched Parasite to the gut devastating him. Turning to Livewire, Kara-38 kicked her into the water where she got the shock of her life. With her super speed, she evaded Rip Roar's tentacles and sliced all of them off with her heat vision. Kara-38 grabbed Lex by his armor, headbutted him shattering his helmet, and let him fall to the ground knocked out. Beebo slammed his giant fist on Kara-38. To his surprise, Kara-38 stopped his fist with her own hand. With a cry of effort, Kara forced Beebo off of her and then kicked him into space. Beebo gave a silent cry as he sailed away.
Reign was immediately on Kara-38 with powerful punches."It is inevitable," Reign sneered.
Kara-38 forced Reign off of her as she powered up. Reign steadied herself on the ground and summoned the Sinister Six back to her. "That was only a warm-up. I'll kill you again like before," Reign said to her.
"With that body? I doubt it," Kara-38 shook her head.
"In this form, I have three world-killers in me," Reign told her.
"I know that wasn't supposed to sound sexual but...damn," Kara-38 said impressed.
"You will finally pay for your blasphemy and irreverence," Reign declared.
"Come at me, bitches," Kara-38 gestured to them all.
Livewire raced towards Kara-38 at the speed of light and hit her with shocking punches at 300 million per second creating an intense lightning storm around them. Kara-38 quickly adapted to her speed and began to evade her. Kara-38 finally tackled Livewire next to Reign's boot. Reign turned around noticing them suddenly appearing next to her and then fired heat vision on them both exploding the ground. Kara-38 emerged from the dust and backhanded Reign to the face twisting it all around and then punched through her gut dropping her. Parasite swung at Kara-38 missing her. Kara-38 blasted him with frost breath freezing him completely and then fired heat vision shattering him. Rip Roar wrapped Kara-38 in tentacles and squeezed tightly on her. Kara-38 did a spin shattering the tentacles and throwing metal shrapnel in all directions. Rip Roar fell to the ground shredded by the metal shards. Lex Luthor backed away as he realized Kara-38's power.
"Saved the best for last," Kara-38 said vengefully as she punched him so hard his suit shattered off his body. Lex fell to his knees stunned. Kara-38 then snapped his neck.
Reign got back to her feet, twisted her neck around, and regenerated the hole in her gut. She then resurrected the Sinister Six back to life. "We could be here a while," Kara-1 said dryly to Kara who was still recovering.
Kara watched in amazement from the scaffold as Kara-38 toyed with the Sinister Six, killing them all in a second with her heat vision and waiting for them to resurrect again. "I did what I could for them," Kara said mournfully.
"Yes," Kara-1 agreed.
"I can change almost anything...but I can't change human nature," Kara said sadly and then noticed tears in space and time in the sky from the destruction of the box. Kara flew over to the Statue of Liberty crown. "Mr. Mxyzptlk," she called for him.
He suddenly appeared next to her. "I didn't trap you, did I?" she realized.
"No," Mr. Mxyzptlk shook his head. "I wanted to see what you would do."
"What's happening?" Kara asked alarmed as the sky was full of tears.
"Infinite beings from infinite universes that know your so-called secret identity," Mr. Mxyzptlk said as countless beings appeared as beings of light inside the tears.
"What if everyone forgot who I was?" Kara asked him. "Everyone. Would it work?"
"Yeah, it would work," Mr. Mxyzptlk allowed. "You must understand that everyone who knows you will have no memory of you. It will be as if you never existed."
"I know," Kara said sacrificially. "Do it."
"Go say your goodbyes. You don't have long," Mr. Mxyzptlk told her.
"See you around, Mxyz," Kara said sadly and then flew off towards Alex and Brainiac 5.
"Still feels weird," Mr. Mxyzptlk muttered.
As soon as Kara dropped down to the ground, Alex and Brainiac 5 gave her a hug. "Are you okay?" Kara asked.
"I'm okay," Alex said.
"You're bleeding," Kara said shocked.
"I'm okay, I'm fine," Alex assured her.
"You're going to forget who I am," Kara told them.
"What?" Brainiac 5 questioned.
"Kara, what are you talking about?" Alex asked confused.
"It's okay. I'll find you and I'll explain everything. Maybe it will jog your memory," Kara said hopefully.
"What if that doesn't work? What if we can't remember you? I don't want to do that," Alex asked stunned.
"Have hope, Alex," Kara said tearfully.
"You promise?" Brainiac 5 asked tearfully.
"I promise," Kara said giving him a hug. "I'll find you," she said to both of them.
"You better," Alex said sobbingly as she embraced Kara.
Mr. Mxyzptlk snapped his fingers and instantly the Sinister Six, the two foreign Karas, and the infinite beings in the tears of space and time were gone. "I love you," Alex said and then no longer recognized Kara as her sister. Kara gave her sister and friend a tearful look and then flew off.
At the Midvale cemetery, Kara placed a flower at Eliza's grave. J'onn walked up to her. "How did you know her?" he asked.
"Peer into my mind," Kara invited.
J'onn gave her a confused look and then saw all of her memories all at once. "Kara," he realized stunned.
"J'onn, no one remembers me, not even Alex," Kara said sadly.
"I'll fix that for you. At game night, everyone will remember you," J'onn assured her.
"Really?" Kara asked gratefully.
"Just your memories of them. It's not going to be easy for them to accept them all. It's going to take time," J'onn warned.
"I have time," Kara smiled.
Author's Notes: This is my Christmas gift to FF. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Spiderman No Way Home gave a realistic scenario to what would happen if Kara revealed her secret identity to the world. The MCU gave a mature and interesting take on the subject while CW punted the issue to a season we will never see. No Way Home and CW Flash Armageddon struggled with the morality of simply letting villains die due to their own choices. Only, of course, the MCU did it far better with far better pacing. And, of course, the MCU had a much better payoff with their crossover heroes. Beyond this, the MCU showed the consequences of one's actions whereas CW Supergirl and Flash do not.
I hope I captured the spirit of CW Kara here. She has a lot of similarities to Peter Parker's naivety and inexperience and I have no doubt she would follow the same path here. Generally speaking, CW Supergirl has the power level of a human 10x if I'm being generous. That's due to CW special effects budget restraints and the actress not being able to fight her way out of a paper bag. The AOS doesn't have that reality so the fights were more even here between CW Kara and AOS villains. Due to a limitation on how many characters I could substitute and the NWH script, not every CW character got much screen time.
No Way Home had excellent fan service for any Spiderman fan. I highly recommend it and I had a lot of fun with this chapter. The MCU Eternals will be incorporated into AOS Season 7. This will be the last bonus episode before Season 7.
