At the Supreme Court, Kara and eight other justices listened to oral arguments on a law that would prohibit abortion after 15 weeks in...the great state of Mississippi. In front of the Court was US Solicitor General, Elizabeth Prelogar.

"Mr. Chief Justice, and may it please the Court: For a half-century, this Court has correctly recognized that the Constitution protects a woman's fundamental right to decide whether to end a pregnancy before viability. That guarantee that the state cannot force a woman to carry a pregnancy to term and give birth has engendered substantial individual and societal reliance," Elizabeth said.

"General, I've must have read the Constitution several times...and, for the life of me, I can't find abortion when I do control F on my keyboard. Just...where the fuck do I find this right in the Constitution? I can't fucking find it and it's driving me crazy," Kara said as she pulled out a pocket Constitution from her robes.

"It's in the liberty component of the 14th amendment," Elizabeth said helpfully.

"When I look at the 2nd amendment, it says 'arms' and when I look at the 4th amendment it says 'unreasonable searches and seizures.' Where is abortion specifically mentioned in the 14th amendment, because I don't see it and I have super-vision? I have the eyes of an eagle," Kara said wide-eyed.

"When the 14th amendment states no one shall be deprived of liberty without due process, the Court has reasoned that liberty is whatever right the Court says it is," Elizabeth said flatly.

"Was that the intent of the authors when they wrote that passage in 1868?" Kara asked.

"Probably not but the Legal Eagle works in mysterious ways, Your Honor. While the authors of the amendment were not consciously aware of it, the Legal Eagle guided their construction of the text to mean abortion should be legalized. And the Supreme Court in 1973 in Roe V Wade, through divine revelation of the Legal Eagle, correctly interpreted liberty to mean abortion which had always been the Legal Eagle's intent from the beginning," Elizabeth replied.

"I don't know. That sounds like bullshit," Kara said doubtfully. "What if the Court was wrong in Roe? Can it be overturned?"

"Supreme Court rulings are infallible, Your Honor. The Supreme Court was given the keys of the nation upon its founding; whatever it binds on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever it lets loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Therefore, Roe V Wade is infallible," Elizabeth said.

"Damn, wait a minute, hasn't this Court overturned shit before? I feel like we have," Kara said thoughtfully.

"Until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished. In cases where the law was overturned, in those cases, the law had been accomplished," Elizabeth replied.

"So, how long is that? How long do we have to wait for the law to be accomplished?" Kara asked incredulously. "When the Supreme Court ruled in Plessy V Ferguson that segregation was cool, was that infallible?"

"Yes, Your Honor. Once the inferior races in question were no longer inferior, the Court correctly ruled in Brown V Board of Education to overturn Plessy V Ferguson as the law had then been accomplished," Elizabeth replied.

"So, if the inferior races had just gotten their acts together sooner, the law would have been accomplished and Plessy V Ferguson could have been overruled a year later?" Kara asked directly.

"Absolutely, Your Honor," Elizabeth replied.

"So, the South creating an entire system of White Supremacy, relying on our legal decision, for sixty years is completely not our fault?" Kara asked.

"The Supreme Court hands down infallible legal decisions. What people do or do not do with that decision is on them," Elizabeth replied.

"So, we're never wrong is what you're telling me?" Kara asked smugly.

"Collectively, the Supreme Court is never wrong and that is the dogma of stare decisis. When you make a decision, the Legal Eagle comes upon you and makes it impossible for the majority opinion to contain error," Elizabeth said.

"So, I heard a story about a woman who drank, did drugs, smoked cigarettes, and then fell down the stairs causing her unborn child to be...mentally challenged," Kara said carefully. "What's the liberty equation for that woman?"

"If the child is wanted, the state can regulate a woman's behavior during pregnancy. If the child is unwanted, then the liberty of the mother supersedes the state's interests in this matter," Elizabeth said.

"What's the difference?" Kara asked confused.

"When a woman 'invokes" her liberty, she can do whatever the fuck she wants to her unborn child. If she does not 'invoke' the liberty, then the state has an interest to regulate and intervene," Elizabeth said.

"So, if I'm pregnant, and I fall down some stairs to give myself an abortion and the cops arrest me, can I then invoke my so-called 'liberty'?" Kara asked.

"No, because it would be after the fact. You have to invoke your liberty beforehand," Elizabeth corrected.

"So...if I invoke my liberty and then fall down some stairs to give myself an abortion, I'm protected?" Kara asked.

"In that case, absolutely, Your Honor," Elizabeth confirmed.

"I'm not sure I agree. I feel I don't have to 'invoke' my rights when I talk shit, buy guns, and frequently refuse cops entrance into my mansion," Kara doubted.

"It's similar to the fifth amendment's right to not incriminate yourself. You have to invoke it in a precise manner rather than it always being present," Elizabeth explained.

"Gotcha," Kara understood.

Eternals

Kara hung out with Alex at a coffee shop at night. "So, I saw you asking some hard questions on CSPAN," Alex brought up. "How are you going to decide the case?"

"I don't really have to worry about it for another six months," Kara said dismissively. "It gives me a certain satisfaction that both sides are freaking out over how I will vote. God, I love being a tie-breaker."

"Keeping us all in a state of suspense," Alex mused.

"Absolutely," Kara grinned.

"You can tell me, can't you?" Alex pried.

"Well, I don't know, Alex. Maybe I'll rule in favor of Mississippi if a certain someone doesn't come with me back to the future," Kara threatened.

"Wow," Alex said speechless.

"Just something to think about," Kara smiled as she raised her coffee cup to her.

Suddenly, everyone outside was running away in one direction as fast as they could as several cars were getting smashed up. "What the fuck is going on?" Alex wondered as she pulled out her pistol.

Kara used her X-ray vision to scan through the walls and found the Eternals fighting some monsters eerily similar to the ones Hellboy used to fight. "Just a bunch of deviants," Kara said dismissively.

"Wait, the monsters or the people fighting the monsters?" Alex wondered.

"Yes," Kara nodded.

As Kara and Alex looked on, the Eternal known as Sprite (not the soft drink) created illusions of people to confuse the Deviants. However, the Deviants quickly realized they were being tricked and relied on their sense of smell to attack the humans on the streets. A Deviant used a tentacle tail to take Sprite down as the other Eternal, Sersi, ran for her life.

"My heroes," Kara smirked.

"Do something. A child is endangered," Alex pressed.

"She's actually several thousand years old," Kara told her. "Can you imagine being a child your whole life?"

"I'm looking right at her," Alex said scornfully.

The Deviant opened its jaws about to devour Sprite when Kara punched the creature through a store window. The Deviant sprung out only to be sliced open by a heat vision beam. It hit a light pole and fell to the pavement dead. "Evening, Eternals," Kara mocked them.

"Watch out!" Sprite shouted.

A Deviant flipped a bus right at Kara. Sersi immediately turned the bus into red flowers where they fluttered away in the wind. "Entirely unnecessary but thank you," Kara mocked Sersi.

The second Deviant went for an attack. Kara blasted the Deviant with heat vision but this one was more resistant and regenerated his wounded arm. "Did it just heal himself?" Sprite asked amazed.

Kara fired several heat vision beams at the Deviant as it retreated and then finally it was blasted into the bay. Kara then floated back to the Eternals. "Kara! Glad to see you," Sprite said to Kara.

"Nice to see my favorite fan," Kara smiled giving her a hug.

"I thought we killed them all five centuries ago but now they're back," Sersi said super-serious.

"Why didn't you show up when I was fighting the Kryptonians, the Insane, Leviathan, Nyxly, or any other terrible being I had to put down?" Kara asked peeved.

"We're instructed not to intervene in humans affairs unless Deviants are involved," Sersi excused herself.

"Why?" Kara asked dismayed.

"If we protected humanity from everything over the last seven thousand years, humanity would never develop their potential," Sersi said.

"I don't think humanity can develop its full potential if it's extinct," Kara said obviously. "I mean if Deviants were eradicated long ago, why the fuck are you still here?"

"We're looking for a sign," Sersi said vaguely.

"Aren't we all?" Kara rolled her eyes.

"We have to go," Sersi said and then took Sprite with her out of view.

In the middle of nowhere, Kansas, Sersi and Sprite came to Ajak's house for a visit. Upon looking around, they found Ajak's body in the field. Kara then appeared on the scene. "So, I was just in Smallville when I noticed you were in the neighborhood and...holy shit!" Kara said as she saw the body.

"It was a Deviant," Sersi said tearfully.

"I thought you guys were eternal," Kara said confused.

"We're eternal in so far as we don't age. We can still be killed," Sprite explained.

"Gotcha," Kara understood.

Inside the house, Sprite made a number of illusions of her dancing with Ajak. "That was the last time I saw her," she said mournfully. "I think the Deviant that escaped was the one that killed Ajak. It explains why he had healing powers."

"So, the Deviants can acquire your powers if they kill you?" Kara asked.

"I swore the Deviant spoke like her," Sprite said spooked.

Outside, Sersi was still with the body. Suddenly, a glowing orb from the body entered Sersi's chest. Immediately, Sersi had a vision of a Celestial in her mind, a humanoid being with six red glowing eyeballs. "Arishem," Sersi identified.

"Sersi, it is almost time," Arishem said vaguely and then disappeared.

Sersi then fainted in the field. Sprite and Kara were instantly at her side. "Sersi, are you okay?" Sprite asked.

"Yeah, what happened?" Kara asked concernedly.

"I talked with Arishem. He said, 'It's almost time,'" Sersi said.

"Time for what?" Kara asked.

"Can you try talking to him again?" Sprite asked.

"I don't know how," Sersi admitted.

"He chose you to replace her," Sprite reasoned.

"Well...no shit," Kara agreed.

In India, Kara, Sprite, and Sersi watched Kingo do a Bollywood dance number. "God, I hate Bollywood," Kara shook her head dismayed. "I am Harish Patel, Kingo's valet. It's truly an honor to be in your presence," he said to the three.

"I know, right?" Kara said pleased.

"And cut!" Kingo said as he ended the dance number. He then went over to the three. "Oh, my friends and colleagues. Perfect timing. Welcome, the legendary Supergirl. You like the costume?

"We need to talk," Sersi said seriously.

"In private," Sprite added eyeing Harish.

"I've known Harish for fifty years. I trust him with everything," Kingo said. "When we first met, he thought I was a vampire and tried to stake me through the heart."

"I have apologized many times," Harish rolled his eyes.

"Not enough times. You owe me a life debt for that as my slave," Kingo said. "Hey, let's go to my tent so we can talk."

The five of them went over to Kingo's tent where he worked on his make-up. "You're going to love the next scene. I have to use a wire because I can't reveal that I can fly."

"Ajak is dead," Sprite said bluntly.

Kingo gave them all a WTF look. "She was killed by a Deviant. The Deviants are back and we don't know how many there are," Sersi explained.

"You need to come with us," Kara added.

"I just can't leave. So many people depend on me. We're doing a trilogy," Kingo said.

"If I may, there is no greater duty than protecting one's family," Harish said passionately.

"You're just saying that because you want me to get myself killed fighting Deviants," Kingo said knowingly.

"What? No," Harish denied.

"You're coming with me," Kingo ordered.

"Shit," Harish muttered.

On Kingo's private jet, Kara made herself a vodka martini. "Not only am I a world-famous actor, but I'm also an Eternal," Kingo said to a camera Harish was holding up.

"Kingo, what the fuck are you doing?" Sprite asked suspiciously.

"I'm making a documentary on us," Kingo said obviously. "Sprite, tell us about yourself," he asked her as the camera focused on her.

"Oh, right," Sprite said as she gave Kingo the middle finger and disappeared.

"We'll get back to her. Sersi, tell us a little about yourself," Kingo requested.

"Well, I can change a rock into water, or wood, or into metal. Actually, one time, I turned a rock into air," Sersi said proudly.

"Cut! Why don't you think about it and we'll come back to you," Kingo said condescendingly.

"Revealing your secret identities in a documentary? Not a good plan," Kara said knowingly.

"I know how to keep a secret identity far better than you, Supergirl," Kingo said as he backed up towards his many movie posters.

"So, no one ever notices that you're the leading man for over a hundred years?" Kara asked skeptically.

"I don't know what you're talking about. That is my great great grandfather, my great grandfather, my grandfather, my father, and this is me," Kingo lied showing various identities of himself.

"Impressive inbreeding," Kara mocked.

"I'm part of the greatest film dynasty in Bollywood. What are you beyond a gossip reporter?" Kingo mocked.

"You abandoned me in Macedonia," Sprite accused.

"I got sick and tired of having to move every five years. People freak the fuck out when they notice you don't age," he mocked her.

"I thought we were friends," Sprite pouted.

"You know why I make movies? It's because of you. I always liked being in the audience hearing your stories and seeing your illusions. We should have all stayed together. Ajak would still have been alive. She should have never let us go," Kingo said mournfully.

In the desert wasteland of Australia, the group made their way to an isolated village. Upon arriving, they found a dead Deviant body. "Is this the one that escaped?" Kingo asked Kara.

"No, there must be more of them we don't know about," Kara figured.

"You're about to meet the two greatest warriors this world has ever known," Kingo said to her. "Athena, fiercest warrior to ever exist and her trusted friend, the powerhouse that is Gilgamesh."

Kara knocked on the door. Gilgamesh opened the door and gave the group an unimpressed look. "What took you so long?" he asked annoyed. "You look younger today, Sprite," he mocked as he went past her. "Who the hell are you?" he asked Harish.

"I'm Kingo's valet," he explained.

"Like Alfred in Batman," Gilgamesh recalled.

"The way you say that implies you think the Batman is a myth," Kara shook her head.

"We fought off a Deviant. Could have used some help," Gilgamesh said resentfully.

"We were also attacked in Metropolis," Sprite said defensively.

"Not even Supergirl could defeat them," Sersi brought up.

"Wait a minute. I killed one and the only reason the other one escaped is I got distracted," Kara shot back.

"Sure you were," Gilgamesh rolled his eyes. "Want some pie?"

"Ajak is dead," Kara informed him.

Gilgamesh gave the group a look of grief and then dropped his pie on the ground. Gilgamesh sat down totally devastated for a few moments. "The pie...can still be saved," Kara said to the others.

A few moments later, Gilgamesh led the group over to Thena who was by herself sitting down next to a dead tree. "The attack triggered her. She's not good to be around right now," he warned the group. "Look who is here. Give me your hand," Gilgamesh said to Thena.

Thena suddenly leaped up, manifested a golden staff blade, and struck at him. Gilgamesh blocked her blade just in time. "Everyone on this world is going to die," she said incoherently.

"Give me your hand," Gilgamesh requested patiently.

"It's too late. We're all dead," Thena told him.

Sprite created an illusion of a dark dome over them all and used hologram images to inform Thena and everyone else of her past history as the goddess of war. Thena then recollected her senses and the illusion faded away. "Hi," Kingo said awkwardly.

"Hello," Thena said not entirely mentally stable.

"Who's your gardener?" Kingo asked looking at the wasteland before him.

"Really?" Sprite shook her head at him.

The Eternals and Kara sat at the dinner table and had a feast of exotic foods. "You eat this every day? This is delicious," Kara said impressed. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Gilgamesh replied. "Help yourself. This is a wine for the soldiers of Troy," he said placing the bottle on the table.

"That's so thoughtful," Harish remarked.

Thena eyed Harish like a bug wondering why the fuck a puny human was at their table. "Should she be drinking?" Kingo asked Gilgamesh.

"It's non-alcoholic wine, the type for kids," Gilgamesh whispered to him. "I gave you the same thing, Sprite," he mocked and then had a hearty laugh.

Sprite retaliated by creating an illusion that made Gilgamesh appear he was in baby clothes. "Oh, what the fuck? Really mature," Gilgamesh said dismayed upon seeing his appearance. Sprite then took down the image.

"Reminds me of Thor when he followed me around like a lost kid. Now, he's a famous Avenger and won't return my calls," Kingo said bitterly.

"Now that Captain America is old as fuck, Iron Man is dead as fuck, and Thor is fat as fuck, who's going to lead the Avengers?" Sprite wondered.

"I could lead them," Kara said smirking.

"I don't know if you're at their level. DC is a whole step down," Gilgamesh mocked.

"Them be fighting words," Kara said fiercely. "At least I can fly."

"I'm going to get some air," Sersi said leaving the house.

The Eternals ignored Sersi's existential crisis. "This is good shit. I could totally market this. What's your secret ingredient?" Kingo asked Gilgamesh.

"I personally strip the kernels with my teeth and then spit in it," Kingo revealed.

That night, Sersi gave the Eternals a big exposition dump on their entire history and that of the Deviants. "So, we're all just fancy robots and our memories are somewhere in space?" Kingo asked incredulously.

"And Arishem created the Deviants," Sersi added.

"I'm sorry, Thena. You tried to warn us," Gilgamesh apologized. "I thought we were heroes. Turns out we were the bad guys."

"Hey, just because we're involved in a perpetual plot to destroy planets full of life to give birth to stars...doesn't make us the bad guys," Kingo said defensively. "We've helped the Celestials spread life throughout the universe. That's not a bad thing. That's what good guys do."

"Here, here," Kara mocked.

"What of all the life on this planet? I think we need to stop the emergence," Sersi said distressed.

"We have no right to kill an innocent Celestial inside the womb of its own planet," Kingo told her.

"We don't?" Kara wondered.

"There may be a way to allow the Celestial to emerge without destroying the Earth," Sersi considered. "We just need to delay it until we figure out how."

"Maybe Druig can use his mind-control powers on the Celestial to keep him asleep," Gilgamesh suggested.

"Seriously?" Sprite doubted.

"Druig put me to sleep once so Gil could go on vacation," Thenasaid pissed off.

"We're talking about a Celestial!" Kingo reminded them all.

"Are we just going to let the people of Earth die?" Sersi asked them.

"I vote no," Harish said. "But I admit I'm a little biased."

"The world is ending. You should go home," Kingo told him.

"And do what?" Harish asked incredulously. "Watch Disney Plus all day when I can hang out with superheroes."

"Fine, if you want, you can stay," Kingo allowed.

"How about you find the other Eternals and make an informed decision?" Kara asked helpfully.

The Eternals nodded to this and they all took off for the Amazon rainforest.

In the Amazon, the Eternals and Kara encountered a village commune. It soon became apparent that Druig managed the village by controlling their minds like drones every so often. "I missed some of you. Please, make yourselves at home," Druig said revealing himself to the group.

Inside the "city hall" Sersi explained the situation to him. "You've given me a lot of bad news all in one go."

"Will you help us?" Sersi asked and then her cell phone went off. "Sorry, it's my human boy-toy," she said and then put her phone on silent.

"What's your service? I don't have any bars here," Kingo asked her.

"Let's not do product placement," Kara shot him down.

"This was the last place we lived before we separated. I've protected these people for twenty generations now from the rest of the world and from themselves. And, in all that time, none of you ever visited me," he said pissed off.

"We can learn from our mistakes and do better," Kingo assured him with false sincerity.

Harish suddenly threw his expensive camera on the floor destroying it. "Don't possess my slave," Kingo got into Druig's face. "You're not a god."

"Where's your sense of humor, Kingo, the rising movie star?" Druig mocked.

"I've directed shit, too," Kingo said defensively.

"Oh, really? How many views?" Druig asked knowing otherwise.

"I don't do it for the views or the ratings or the advertisement money," Kingo said.

"Reminds me of a network I know," Kara joked to a smiling Sprite.

"Supergirl, you going to charm me or threaten me?" Druig asked her.

"Maybe both," Kara said wide-eyed.

"It must hurt to realize how inferior you are to us, how mortal you are," Druig mocked.

"I'm ready to test your mortality," Kara said dangerously.

"It would be too easy to take over your dumb blond mind," Druig said confidently.

"Can we be serious?" Sersi asked ending the tension between them.

"I've just been told I was sent here on a suicide mission for thousands of years and that my entire existence is a lie. So, I don't give a shit about your plan right now," Druig said dismissively and then left the room.

"Druig sucks," Kingo said displeased.

For the next few hours, the Eternals sat around talking about the good old days with each other in separate groups. Sersi gave her boy-toy a call. "You should make amends with your uncle. You don't have much time left," she said.

"But he's an asshole," her boy-toy reminded her.

"I know but still," Sersi insisted. "Hey, you're breaking up." Sersi then lost the signal on her phone.

"You're breaking up?" Kara teased. "How did he handle the news of his impending demise?"

"I couldn't bring myself to tell him," Sersi admitted and walked away.

"Sersi, I'm worried about you. It almost seems like you're okay with mass genocide on this planet," Kara said.

"I'm not afraid of that. The only gods that exist in this universe are the Celestials and they have given me their orders," Sersi said coldly.

"Or, or, or we destroy the Celestial before its born," Kara said obviously.

"That's murder," Sersi rejected.

"What do you think you've been doing these last thousands of years?" Kara asked dismayed.

"Those were beasts. A Celestial is an intellect beyond anything we can imagine. It is more valuable to the universe than all of humanity. With this Clestrial, there is the potential for brand new star systems," Sersi said.

"And what if this Celestial just sits on his ass and does nothing?" Kara asked.

"We can't know that and we can't kill an innocent creature before it's even born," Sersi argued.

"And what of the health of the mother, the planet?" Kara asked.

"There is a difference between killing and letting die. If we kill, we've murdered a god. If we do nothing, we're in the clear morally," Sersi said. "This is the natural path of life."

"You are very much involved in what happens here," Kara said obviously. "You're not just a spectator. You're complicit in whatever happens here."

"When did you start advocating for abortion and the murder of innocents?" Sersi asked her. "You've lost your way, Kara Zor-El," Sersi said and then walked off leaving Kara stunned.

"Now, listen here," Kara said and then got pulled up into the air by a winged creature.

Deviants suddenly ambushed the village and went straight for Sersi. King rushed to her side and fired off energy blasts at the Deviants sending them back. One Deviant crashed into a structure that collapsed and caught fire. Kingo continued to fire on the Deviants destroying virtually every structure in the village. Sersi led the villagers away from the fighting the best she could and led them into a building. She then attempted to change the structure into stone to keep the Deviants out. A Deviant whacked her with its tail before she could.

In the air, Kara fired heat vision on the flying Deviant and brought it down. She then blasted the Deviant to the torso killing it. A second Deviant whipped tentacles at Kara but couldn't penetrate her skin. The Deviant then attached its tentacles to forest debris and swung it at Kara. The wood broke apart on impact as it hit her. Gilgamesh and Thena then arrived on the scene.

"I got this," Kara assured them as she had just been toying with it.

Thena gave Kara the crazy look and then started attacking her with an energy sword. "Terrible timing, don't you think?" Kara asked her as she evaded her strikes. Gilgamesh used his strength to punch back the second Deviant, keeping it at bay. Gilgamesh then broke up the fight between Thena and Kara.

Inside the village, Druig took control of the villager's minds and had them fire in a coordinated manner against the Deviants. Without fear or hesitation, the villagers continue to fire even as they were being picked off one by one. Sersi transformed the trunk of a tree into water causing it to bend over. She then transformed the upper half of the tree to stone so when it fell on top of the Deviant, it pinned it. The villagers continue to shoot at the Deviant in vain and, eventually, it escaped. Druig then forced the villagers to retreat to the river.

In the forest away from the village, Gilgamesh had calmed Thena down. He then turned to Kara. "I can handle this. Go back to the village. They need you."

"Well, okay then," Kara said and then flew off.

In the village, Kingo and Sprite worked together to fool a Deviant's senses. As Sprite withdrew, Kingo slid underneath the Deviant and blasted its head off. In the air, Kara engaged a flying Deviant. With her heat vision, she blasted off one of its wings, took out the other wing, and then landed in the village where she stopped a Deviant from attacking Druig. She took the Deviant by the jaw and kept it steady. The Deviant struck at Kara's chest in vain. Kara fired heat vision into the Deviant's mouth incinerating its internal organs.

Another Deviant went straight for Kingo and Sprite inside a house. Kara blasted the Deviant from the air but then got tackled into another house crashing through it. Kara and the Deviant fought furiously with heat vision beams, punches, and kicks. Sersi then came in and struck the Deviant with a spear made of wood. The Deviant left Kara tossed Sersi into a fountain pool. Kara watched intrigued as the two fought in the water until Sersi transformed the Deviant into a horrifying-looking tree that semi-resembled the Deviant she had been fighting with jaws and claws.

"That is one fucked-up tree," Kara remarked. She then noticed a sound in the distance and sped off.

In the forest, Gilgamesh held his own until the Deviant sliced several tentacles into his body and absorbed his powers. This Deviant, now known as Kro, took Gilgamesh's powers and mortally wounded him. Kara arrived on the scene and fired on Kro forcing him to flee. She then scanned Gilgamesh and realized he was too far gone.

"Remember...our mission," Gilgamesh said to Thena before he died.

On the riverbank, Gilgamesh was cremated by the Eternals in a funeral ceremony. Harish led the service in the Indian Hindu way. For once, Kara kept her mouth shut and mourned with the rest. His ashes were then dumped into the river as he might have intended.

Druig then turned to Sersi. "Just before the end, I can control every human mind on the planet and give them peace."

In Iraq, Kara and the Eternals went to get their spaceship. Sersi had picked up Phastos, known for being a great inventor including the atomic bomb. He was also black and married to a man. "So, I say the atomic bomb was your greatest invention. It ended the war, saved lives on both sides that would have died in the invasion, and gave justice to the rest of Asia that was raped and pillaged," Kara said conversationally.

"I am so triggered right now," Phastos said distressed. "I contributed to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people."

"The only way to give yourself peace is for humanity to no longer exist," Sersi told him.

"Right," Phastos agreed and then used his remote to bring their ship out of the ground and into the air. The ship was black, perfectly triangular, relatively thin with only one floor.

Inside the ship, they met up with Makkari who, for reasons, was designed by the all-mighty Celestial to be deaf. She communicated with the Eternals with sign language that they all understood. "So, did Arshlem make you deaf for funsies, or was there a purpose behind that?" Kara asked rudely.

"I'm deaf because I didn't wear ear protection when I break the sound barrier," Makkari admitted using sign language.

"Funny that never became an issue with the Flash," Kara considered.

In her room, Makkari was surrounded by books she had read over the centuries. "Ready to go home?" she asked.

The Eternals proceeded to shock and dismay her with the truth that their Olympia didn't exist, the world was going to end, and they were going to contribute to that end. Thena played with her Excalibur sword, Phastos created holograms of a new invention he was working on, and Kara ate twinkies.

"Alright, Phastos, I need to be able to control the mind of a Clestrial," Druig brought up.

"Okay, so Celestials are the most powerful energy generators in the universe. When Arishem made us, he embued us with infinite cosmic energy to keep our bodies regenerating. So, if the Deviants can absorb our energy, then what if we could absorb our own energy as well. If I can find a way to connect us all, one of us could become immensely powerful pulling the accumulated energy of the rest forming a Uni-mind," Phastos theorized.

"Terrible name," Sprite critiqued.

"What about Brainstorm?" Kingo suggested.

"I invented it so I get to name it," Phastos insisted.

"Assuming Druig can put the Celestial to sleep, then what?" Makkari asked.

"We find humans a new planet and evacuate them," Sersi said.

"Are we planning to build a big ship, too?" Sprite scoffed.

"Actually, evacuating the entire planet is super-easy, barely an inconvenience. I've done it before," Kara bragged.

"What if we accidentally kill the Celestial? We could be responsible for not only ending one life but billions of potential lives in the future across the universe," Kingo objected.

"What do you think?" Sprite asked Kara. "Should we be doing this?"

"Ajak chose Sersi. She should decide," Kara punted.

"Forget who Ajak chose. You're the strongest," Sprite said.

"Finally, some respect," Kara said pleased.

"How about we take a vote?" Sersi suggested.

The Eternals seemed agreeable to that. "Let's take a break," Kara said and then left the ship.

Kara waited for their vote to be over in the desert. Sersi eventually came over to her. "It was a divided vote. Phastos has his husband and kid to think about. I have my boy-toy. For reasons I don't understand, Sprite was the most resistant," Sersi said.

"So?" Kara wondered.

"Killing the Celestial is out of the question," Sersi began.

"I see," Kara nodded.

"And if we put the Celestial to sleep, we're delaying the inevitable, stalling the Celestial from doing its necessary work, and there is a risk we could accidentally kill it," Sersi continued. "Instead, we're going to help the Celestial in the emergence."

"I'm not sure I agree with this plan," Kara said seriously.

"The Celestials create life and take it away without bias. Without them, the universe will become cold and dark. This is the natural order of things," Sersi said to Kara.

"So, you're okay with billions of sentient beings being destroyed? This seems rather archaic and violent," Kara critiqued.

"It will all end soon," Sersi told her.

"Not for you, right? You just pass on with the Celestial and build a new life where you'll live for centuries more," Kara said.

"Our memories will be stripped from us again," Sersi pointed out.

"That's nothing compared to being dead," Kara shot back.

"I wish I could keep my memories. I love all that you have accomplished on this world and I'm grateful for your service," Sersi complimented.

"Alright, where's the emergence point? I'll give you the extra power you need to make this birth happen," Kara promised.

Inside the ship, Phastos gave Makkari a device to locate the emergence point on the surface of the planet. Makkari raced around the planet until she found a Pacific Island. A volcano was already erupting as a sign of the emergence was soon. She then returned to the ship to inform the Eternals of the location. Each of the Eternals had their reasons. Sersi was adamant that the Celestial be born regardless of the consequences, Kingo saw the immense benefit of a new Celestial that would build new star systems, Thena wanted Kro dead no matter how in revenge for killing Gilgamesh, Phastos secretly hated humanity for using his inventions to kill, Makkari wanted to be reincarnated where she was no longer deaf, and Druig simply saw humanity as toys he could easily do without. Only Sprite opposed the plan for reasons yet unknown.

Kara walked into the bridge of the ship in her Supergirl uniform with a stone-faced expression. "I've almost figured it out," Phastos informed her. Kara fired on his mechanical bracelets suspended in the air blasting them to pieces.

"Kara, what are you doing?" Kingo asked outraged.

"I've let this go on long enough," Kara said super-seriously.

"She lied to us. She always intended to stop the emergence," Sersi informed them all.

"No shit," Kara said obviously.

"No," Kingo doubted naively.

"I already gave Ajak a visit. I didn't kill her but I may have alerted some Deviants to her location. After she was killed, I just needed to get all of you in the same room," Kara said coldly.

"If you asked humanity whether they'd be willing to die so trillions could be born, they wouldn't take it. They're selfish beings," Sersi argued.

"There is no choice in this matter," Phastos seconded.

"Of course, there's a choice," Kara insisted.

"A choice to kill," Phastos accused.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing right now?" Kara asked them.

"We're not killing anyone. We're letting humanity die," Sersi told her.

"The consequences are the same," Kara pointed out.

"We serve the will of Arishem. It's who we are," Sersi said.

"Yeah, until you get a sequel or reboot," Kara mocked.

Makkari then entered the room. "I found the Celestial," she said oblivious to what was going on.

Kara immediately fired on her to disable her. Kingo got in the way of the beam and was hit in the shoulder. "Get out of here," he said to Makkari. Immediately, she zipped away. Kingo then got back to his feet and powered up an energy orb in his hand. "You do not turn against the Eternals."

"You won't succeed against me," Kara said seriously. "And I will kill every one of you if I have to."

Kara then walked off like a boss to the location where the Celestial was to be born. "Wait, I'm going with you," Sprite said to her.

"Sprite, the fuck?" Sersi wondered.

"Wait, what is this?" Thena wondered as she entered the room also oblivious to Kara's so-called betrayal.

Sersi immediately started turning random objects in the room into Kryptonite. "Now, you're fucked," she said angrily as Kara started to weaken. Sprite formed an illusion of insects to give them both cover as they bolted from the ship.

Moments later, Makkari came back distressed. "Why did Sprite go with Kara?" she asked.

"She's her greatest fan," Kingo replied. "Oh, you didn't pick up on that? Her room is full of Supergirl posters, she has a Supergirl t-shirt and hat, and even has a House of El tattoo on her arm. Harish, let's go."

"Wait...where are you going?" Phastos asked dismayed.

"I'd love to help you guys, I think your course is right, but Supergirl is too powerful. I'll end up getting my dick cut off and shoved up my ass," Kingo said fearfully.

"We need you," Makkari insisted.

"We're no match against Supergirl. The Celestial is on his own and I hope to see you all on the next planet," Kingo said and then walked off.

"It's been a great honor discussing my species' imminent genocide and the destruction of my home with you. I will miss you all," Harish said heartfelt and then left with Kingo.

"Look, if I'm going to get myself killed fighting Supergirl, we need a backup plan," Druig said.

"All of our powers combined would not be enough to defeat a Kryptonian," Phastos doubted.

"Well, Sersi did turn a Deviant into a tree," Druig pointed out.

"You're telling me this now?" Phastos asked incredulously.

"You've never been able to do that before," Makkari wondered.

"I don't know how it happened and I'm not sure I can do it again," Sersi admitted.

"Well, now is the time to try," Phastos stressed.

"If we weaken Supergirl with Kryptonite...and I turn her to stone, it could work," Sersi said optimistically. "No, we can't. She'll kill us all before I set the trap. It can't work!" she said frustrated.

"Don't worry, Sersi. I got this," Druig assured her.

Sersi went to another room that showed a hologram of the Celestial to be born. Thena went to see her and found Sersi moping about. "There's no time for that," she scolded her.

"I don't know why Ajak decided to have me lead," Sersi admitted.

"I asked Gilgamesh once why he decided to protect me. He said, 'When you love something, you protect it. It's the most natural thing in the world. For a mother to sacrifice her life for her own baby in the womb. That Celestial is innocent, these people on the surface are not. You know that. You've been around these people the most. That is why you were chosen to lead," Thena said.

"Yeah, maybe," Sersi said unsure of herself.

"Sersi, get the fuck up," Thena ordered.

Sersi got up and put on her serious face. "Suit up," she said.

The remaining Eternals put on their color-coordinated power-ranger suits. Thena in white, Druig in black, Makkari in red, Sersi in green, and Phastos in blue. All of them wore golden bracelets that connected them to each other. They then piloted the ship towards the spot where the Celestial would be born, a volcanic island.

"I'm glad you're here, Sprite. You're my number one fan," Kara said appreciatively as they overlooked a hill.

Sprite smiled as she wore her own light green uniform. The Eternal's' ship then arrived on the scene. "I might have to kill them," Kara said to Sprite.

"I'm okay with that," Sprite consented.

"Well, okay then," Kara sighed and then flew towards the ship. Upon tearing through, she found Thena alone. "Where are the others?" Kara demanded.

"They're busy," Thena said as she advanced on her.

"Thena, play nice," Kara said condescendingly.

Thena materialized a glowing gold blade and struck at Kara. She merely held onto the blade. "You've never had to fight me," Kara warned her.

"But I've always wanted to," Thena smiled.

The sword formed spikes forcing Kara to release her grip. Thena swung at Kara missing each time. She materialized a second blade in her left hand but continue to miss Kara due to her super speed. Kara flew into the air to get some distance and fired on Thena. She blocked Kara's heat vision with her blades. Kara then flew towards Thena and punched her in the gut nearly sending her to the floor. Kara fired on her but was blocked with Thena's materialized shield. Kara swung down hard on Thena's shield multiple times to send Thena off-balanced. Kara finally broke her shield and then slammed Thena up against the ship's wall. It was then that Thena began to glow indicating that the Eternals were combining their powers outside and that Thena was merely a distraction.

Kara exited the ship and flew towards Sersi, Druig, Phastos, and Makkari. Turning to the volcano, she noticed it was becoming even more active. Druig was intentionally awakening the Celestial to begin the emergence. Kara flew towards Druig and fired heat vision into his back, stopping his connection. Kara landed and grabbed Druig by the throat.

"I should have done this five hours ago," she said peeved.

Kara took Druig up into the air, threw him back towards the ground, and fired heat vision on him as he fell blasting him into the ground. Makkari shrieked as Kara incinerated Druig in the rock. Kara then attacked the triangle ship from below and then above with a heat vision beam. The ship crashed to the ground and split cleanly in half. Makkari zipped Seris out of the way as the ship nearly crashed into them. Makkari then zipped Thena and Phastos over to Sersi.

"Druig is gone. It's over," Kara told them.

Makkari thought otherwise and slammed into Kara at fast speed. She brought Kara across the beach slamming into several boulders before hitting a cliffside. Kara tried to fire on her but missed as she hit the cliff. Makkari took Kara's head and ground it against the cliff wall at fast speed. The volcano then erupted indicating time was running out for the planet. Thena sliced volcanic boulders thrown at her in half with her sword, Sersi turned them into a flock of birds, and Phastos blasted them to pieces with his arm guards.

Makkari continued to mess with Kara with fast-speed blows while dodging the volcanic shower. Kara fired on the incoming debris with her heat vision even as she was being hit continuously. Makkari avoided Kara's fire and hit her several times a second from all angles. Makkari then slammed Kara against the cliffside once more. While engraved in the cliffside, Makkari struck Kara multiple times until Kara finally grabbed her by the throat.

"Enough!" Kara said annoyed and then tossed her to the ground. As she did, she fired heat vision into Makkari's chest severely wounding her.

Phastos and Thena then entered the battle. Kara blasted several of Phastos' devices meant to pin her. Thena blocked Kara's heat vision with her energy shield and Phastos continued to fire on Kara. At the same time, Kro showed up out of nowhere to observe the fight. Makkari recovered and swat Kara several times a second as before. Thena then saw an opening and kicked Kara into a boulder. Thena leaped towards Kara with her sword only to be thrown back. Makkari caught Thena as Kara fired on them both. Phastos continued to annoy Kara with his metal frisbees. Kara took to the air and blasted all of Phastos' metal frisbees to bits. Makkari slid on the volcanic sand spraying it into Kara's face. Thena leaped up to attack and gave Kara a solid uppercut with her staff. Thena then jumped off the cliffside and punched Kara back to the ground.

It was then that Thena noticed Kro. Vengefully, she went to attack him and the two did battle inside a cave. Kara eyed the cave deciding not to interfere. "Where's Sersi?" she demanded of Phastos.

"You always did underestimate her," Phastos chided.

"Really?" Kara rolled her eyes and then took off into the air.

"Oh, no. Not so fast, bitch," Phastos said as he shot cables around Kara's red boot and then connected his cables to several other devices hiding in the sand. Phastos then slammed Kara into the sand pinning her.

The sand around Kara became green weakening her from Sersi's power. "I don't know about you but this is really satisfying," Phastos grinned. "I'm having a gay old time with you."

"Let me go, Phastos. You can't do this," Kara beseeched him.

"I don't think so. I've been wanting to clip your wings for a long time, Supergirl," Phastos mocked.

Kara attempted to fire on Phastos but she had lost her powers. Sersi then appeared wearing a green Kryptonite suit. As she walked, Kryptonite crystals formed around her feet. She came closer to Kara ready to kill her. "You're not a killer, Sersi," Kara told her.

"I'm not going to kill you, Kara. I'm just going to let you die," Sersi said as the volcano continued to erupt.

A blade suddenly went through Sersi's back and out her gut. "I'm sorry, Sersi," Sprite said from behind. The image of Kara stuck in Phastos' traps and weakened by Kryptonite disappeared. Sersi gasped in shock, fell to her knees, and then collapsed.

"Kara told me that if I went along with her plan, she would find a way to allow me to grow older. That's what I always envied about you, Sersi. You could blend in with the humans and I could not. I was stuck for thousands of years as an underage teenage girl. Only pedophiles or teenage boys were ever interested in me. It sucked," Sprite said resentfully.

"And all because a Celestial fucked up when he created me. Well, now it's payback time," Sprite said angrily. "I always wanted to grow up, to fall in love, to have a family. To know in the end, I lived."

"Sprite, we always had the power to make you grow older," Sersi revealed.

"I hate you. I hate you all," Sprite said furiously.

In the cave, Thena was defeated and killed by Kro. However, the island was falling apart and the Earth was shaking from the Celestial wanting to be born. Sersi placed her hands on the ground and made everywhere around her turn to Kryptonite in a desperate attempt to keep Kara at bay. A heat vision beam sliced through her back and out her heart killing her. The real Kara then materialized and stayed clear of the ground.

"Oh, shit," Phastos realized as Kro attacked him. Makkari went to save him when Kara fired a heat vision beam that blasted one of her legs off. The two were quickly dispatched by Kro.

With the Eternals defeated, Kara took a deep breath and then slammed into the ocean. Going Prime, she tore through the crust, into the mantle, and entered the liquid outer core of the Earth where the temperature was 4000 degrees Celcius and 3 million atmospheres of pressure. Kara found the Celestial floating above the inner core ascending towards the surface ready to be born and kick-ass on an unsuspecting universe. Kara cocked her fist back and then punched the baby Celestial with enough force that the Celestial's body tore apart. It may or may not have felt pain. Its limbs and head went in all directions inside the liquid outer core and then dissolved. Kara then made her way back to the surface appearing white-hot for a few seconds as she landed back on the beach.

"Are they really gone? All of them?" Sprite asked tearfully.

"Yeah...except for Kingo but being a Bollywood actor is a fate worse than death," Kara said somberly.

Sprite fought not to laugh. "Sprite, all the things you wanted, we can make it happen but you'll lose your powers. You'll grow older and then eventually die. Are you okay with that?" Kara asked.

"I am," Sprite replied.

Kara then addressed Kro. "You Deviants got a bad rap now that I understand the whole story. Now that the Eternals are gone, are you guys going to stop being assholes?"

"Yes," Kro promised.

"Alright, go in peace and sin no more," Kara said to him.

Kro then walked off like a boss with several Eternal powers under his belt. He would go back to his people and be their law-giver and deliver them to the Promised Land which was Alaska.

Soon thereafter, Kara took Sprite to her first day of high school in Midvale. "Get off the phone. You need to learn some social skills," Kara scolded.

"You're not my mom," Sprite shot back.

Kara and Sprite stared at each other as they faced off. Sprite put away her phone and gave Kara a hug. "I'm going to miss you," Sprite said sincerely

"Me, too," Kara told her.

"Visit me?" Sprite asked hopefully.

"That's why I put you in this town," Kara reminded her.

"Did we do the right thing?" Sprite wondered.

"We followed our heart. So...maybe," Kara shrugged. "Morality is all about consequences...or was it intentions?" Kara then noticed Alex waiting for her.

"She looks a lot cuter in person," Sprite smirked and then waltzed her way to ninth grade.

Kara shook her head dismayed and then went over to Alex. "So, you aborted a baby Celestial and killed those trying to protect it," Alex summarized.

"When you put it like that, I sound like a bitch," Kara frowned.

"Thank you...for saving the world...again," Alex said thankfully. "And I know it must have been hard to break your so-called principles to do it."

"When I was pregnant with Kameron, I vowed that if it ever came to it, I would sacrifice my life for her. I understand not everyone feels the same way. That Celestial was innocent and a being of great power and intelligence...and I killed it all the same," Kara said thoughtfully.

"Wouldn't be the first time," Alex said dryly.

"However I rule on the Court, it won't be to manipulate you into doing anything. If you want to come with me to the future or stay in this time, it will be your free choice," Kara said sincerely.

"Thank you. I appreciate that," Alex said gratefully.

The sky suddenly turned dark with angry clouds. Kara could then see the face of a pissed-off Celestial, Arishem. "Holy shit," Alex said amazed.

"You done fucked up!" Arishem said angrily.

"I got this. I'll be right back," Kara said shedding her clothes and becoming Supergirl. Kara flew into space and found the giant Arishem hovering over the planet. "You have chosen to sacrifice a Celestial for the people of this planet," Arisehm accused.

"I'm not apologizing," Kara said stubbornly.

"I will spare them but your memories will show me if they're worthy to live. And I will return for judgment," Arishem said.

"How ominous," Kara said not taking him seriously. "I got a better idea. How about you suck on this," Kara said and then formed a mini-black hole in her hand. She then threw it at Arishem where his body quickly got pulled inside it.

"What the fuck?" Arishem wondered and then suddenly disappeared into the black hole.

Kara then booted the black hole out of the solar system.

Alex eyed the Celestial suddenly disappearing from view and then streaking away into the distance. A black man in a black trenchcoat, black boots, black shades, a sword on his back, a pistol on his hip, and perfect white teeth came up to Alex. "There's always some mother-fucker always trying to ice-skate uphill," he remarked.

"I know, right?" Alex sighed.

Author's Notes: I've stayed away from the abortion issue for the most part but it did occur to me when reviewing this film. Of course, a role reversal was in order here for the Eternals. Kara sort of has her own role-reversal character arc here. For the pro-life side, I am keenly aware that this episode is a bit of a strawman and that nearly all pro-lifers acknowledge the right to abortion if the mother's life is at risk. For the pro-choice side, I am keenly aware that this episode trivializes the emotional, mental, and physical state of the woman when dealing with this issue. I can only hope I pissed off both sides in equal measure.

Kara's questions in oral arguments are very very loosely based on the questions several of the more skeptical Supreme Court justices asked during the real court case.
