Adventures of Supergirl 7x21
Jeremiah's big birthday party came to a close after the fireworks. Kara watched the explosions completely mesmerized, getting a rush out of it. As the fireworks show ended, Alex came up to Kara with a concerned expression on her face. "Dad is missing," she told her.
"Say what?" Kara looked around in all directions scanning the whole area quickly. "I give him the birthday party of the millennium and he fucking leaves? What the fuck?"
"I think something's wrong," Alex said seriously.
Kara gave her a haunted look and turned to a Brainiac 5 drone. "Find Jeremiah, immediately," she ordered.
"His electronic signature was his phone which he left on his desk. He's not appearing on any of the surveillance cameras. I can't identify him via satellite either," Brainiac 5 admitted.
"Did you see where he went?" Kara asked Alex.
"He went over that hill with Kelly and then he was gone," Alex pointed out.
"I don't want to sound like a smartass...but did you question Kelly?" Kara asked obviously.
"Yes, she has no memory of the last few days," Alex replied.
"She was acting a little strange," Kara noted. With no one around, Kara zipped over the hill and started looking around. Kelly stood near a bench dumbfounded. "Kelly, when and where is the last time you saw Jeremiah?"
"A few days ago," Kelly shook her head.
"You were with Jeremiah walking over this hill. What happened?" Kara questioned.
"I don't remember that. I just suddenly found myself in this dress at this party alone," Kelly said honestly.
Hank arrived on the scene to give assistance. "She's telling the truth," he sensed.
Kara frantically scanned the entire area for Jeremiah and found nothing. Alex walked up to Kara, Hank, and Kelly. "He was acting odd like this was his last night on Earth," Alex said to the group. Brainiac 5 then joined the group to give his report. "The manor and grounds have been searched. He's not here."
"Use Myriad and find his ass," Kara snapped.
A Brainiac 5 drone came forth with a suitcase and opened it. Brainiac 5 took one key while Kara took the other key. "Three, two, one," Brainiac 5 instructed as they unlocked Myriad at the same time. The Myriad device then scanned for Jeremiah's mental signature. "Nothing," Brainiac 5 reported.
"Search the minds of anyone that might know," Kara ordered.
Myriad proceeded to invade the minds of every person in the city, the state, and then the region for Jeremiah. While some of the guests had wondered where Jeremiah was or noticed his absence, no one knew his location. "Still nothing," Brainiac 5 reported and turned Myriad off.
"He must be wearing some kind of helmet to block Myriad," Kara said desperately.
"I'm also not sensing anything and no helmet can block me," Hank shook his head.
"What about the lake?" Alex suggested.
"I already scanned it," Kara told her.
"Oh, God," Alex said grieved.
Brainiac 5 showed his phone of satellite images showing Jeremiah walking with Kelly away from the party. The pictures then stopped at a certain point and then the next set of pictures showed Kelly and Alex coming together. "Curious," Brainiac 5 said.
"Someone is fucking with us," Kara realized. "Search the manor for anything that could explain where Jeremiah went."
Inside the manor, Brainiac 5 drones tore every room apart looking for evidence. Brainiac 5 easily hacked into Jeremiah's phone and went through it not noticing anything unusual. Kelly's movements were then tracked by satellite images. Brainiac 5 and Kara eyed the Bat computer as he showed her disturbing images of Kelly brutally killed in a car accident in Metropolis.
"No one could have survived that," Kara judged.
Kelly's body was picked up by an ambulance. Shortly thereafter, Kelly then left Metropolis General and took a cab. That cab then made its way to Wayne Manor. Surveillance footage from the manor showed Alfred letting her in. "Something possessed Kelly's body and knows where Jeremiah is," Kara theorized.
"That is the logical conclusion," Brainiac 5 agreed.
In another room, Hank continued to question and probe Kelly for information on Jeremiah without success. Alex entered her room and looked around. Inside a desk drawer was a book. Opening the book, she quickly realized it was Jeremiah's journal. Figuring he intended for her to find it, Alex skipped to the end. According to the journal, Jeremiah had been interacting with Death and had known Kelly had been possessed for the last few days. Alex speed-read through these sections as Jeremiah detailed his conversations with Death up to the end. She then realized how close she was to being killed as Death courted her. Stunned, Alex dropped the journal on the floor.
"He's dead," she realized.
Kara and Mon walked the halls of Wayne Manor. "You could be more helpful," Kara snapped at him.
"If he were anywhere in the quadrant, I would be able to sense his Ki. There's nothing," Mon said defensively.
"So, what happened to him?" Kara asked.
"Sounds like he was vaporized," Mon said insensitively.
Kara merely stared at him. "Bring everyone we care about here. We're under attack."
"Sure," Mon shrugged and then disappeared.
Meanwhile, Alex spent the early morning hours going through Jeremiah's journal that began with her death, Eliza passing away, the journey to hell, and recovery. Alex read the journal slowly and carefully as she didn't want to confuse anything. Once she was finished, she closed the journal. It was too bizarre and weird even for what she was used to. Her father wasn't known for writing works of fiction of this level. If it were true...
Alex placed the journal in her jacket and then looked at herself in the mirror with a haunted expression on her face. She had encountered Satan, died, and went to hell. That was why she woke up in the DEO clinic with Brainiac 5 giving her a fake diagnosis. It was why she didn't remember several days. It was the reason why her mother had died of a heart attack. Her friends and family had gone to hell to save her but only her father had remembered it. It had been her father's faith that had brought the divine intervention that saved her.
"Oh my God, oh my God," Alex said softly as she started to freak out.
The next morning, Alex stared off into space with red-shot eyes on the hill. Kelly came over to her with a flustered look. "I wish I could remember what happened to your father. I'm so sorry," Kelly said apologetically.
"The Angel of Death took him," Alex said softly.
Kelly merely stared at her. "What?"
"He's dead. My father is dead," Alex said calmly.
"How do you know?" Kelly asked incredulously.
"I have his journal," Alex replied.
"Then, you have to turn it over for the others to analyze. It could have clues we need to solve this," Kelly said reasonably.
"I just told you what happened," Alex said softly.
"But that doesn't make any sense," Kelly said shaking her head.
"After our time in the coffee shop, you died and the Angel of Death possessed your body. I should have noticed something was off. You weren't yourself at all and yet, I still...," Alex said dismayed. "I still felt your touch. I..," she trailed off.
"We were both victims of something beyond our understanding. If this journal can help, you need to show it to others," Kelly pressed.
"No, I can't," Alex refused. "Just trust me on this."
"I do," Kelly nodded.
"No matter what happens between us, I will be forever grateful for what you have done for me," Alex said referring to Kelly's efforts in hell.
"That journal is more than just the last few days, isn't it?" Kelly assumed.
"I put my work, my ambition, my crusade for justice ahead of you when you most needed me. And even though it was a lie, I fucked up," Alex admitted.
"I don't understand but I acknowledge your feelings," Kelly replied.
Alex embraced Kelly. "I need to find Kara," Alex said to her.
"Go to her," Kelly encouraged.
Midvale
Soon thereafter, Jeremiah was given a military funeral. Alex's explanation to Gen. Lane that the Angel of Death took him after his birthday party was apparently a reasonable explanation. At the church, a large gathering of military brass was present in uniform from all the branches and from all over the country. Foreign military personnel from all the NATO countries were also present including Manchester Black. Pastor Dan spoke of his past history with Jeremiah as he grew up in the town. The Super-Friends were present to give Alex and Kara their support.
The casket lacked a body but was filled with Jeremiah's special possessions, trinkets, and a fully stacked-out military uniform he never wore around his family. Unbeknownst to anyone, Alex had placed his journal inside as well. Draped over the casket was the American flag. After several speakers made their remarks, Alex came to the podium. The church held its breath wondering if she would put her father on blast. Even Kara, in the front row, was nervous.
"My relationship with my father can be summed up with one of my favorite poems growing up: One night, I dreamed a dream. I was walking along the beach with my father. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to me and one to my father. When the last scene of my life shot before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. There was only one set of footprints. I realized that this was at the lowest and saddest times of my life. This always bothered me and I questioned my father about it," Alex began.
"Father, you promised me you would walk and talk with me all the way. But I'm aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints. I just don't understand why, when I needed You most, you left me," Alex said tearfully and then took a moment to collect herself. "My father replied to me, 'When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.'"
The crowd went to their feet and gave her a standing ovation. Alex wiped away her tears and saw Kara's confused but grateful face. As she came down from the podium, Kelly embraced her. "You did good," she complimented.
"I meant every word," Alex replied.
At the cemetery, the hearse was escorted by government vehicles. A funeral detail took out the casket and marched it over to the grave plot next to Eliza's grave. They gently placed it on the ground and began the ceremony. The funeral detail lifted the flag off the casket, several shots rang out, and then the flag was folded. Gen. Lane then presented the flag to Alex. A second flag was also presented to Kara. Finally, the casket was lowered into the ground.
A distance away, Karina, Alina, and Russian spies impersonating Americans were present. "He was a great and dangerous man. In truth, we waited for his death to launch the invasion," Alina remarked.
Karina eyed all the military personnel that had been friends with Jeremiah over the years gathered about. "Beware an old man in a profession where young men usually die," Karina warned Alina. "And Ukraine has many old warriors."
The Russians then turned to leave having paid their respects to an old adversary. Kara embraced a tearful Manchester Black and chatted with Gen. Lane. Lucy Lane gave Brainiac 5 and Nia an odd look as they stood in the background. After everyone had departed, Alex and Kara were left. In front of them were the graves of Jeremiah, Eliza, and their foster brother, Ryan James.
"If I had known he would leave us so suddenly, I wouldn't have been such a busybody," Kara said tearfully.
"He loved you and trusted you more than you can imagine," Alex said referring to his journal. "My family...is gone now," she said tearfully. "Oh, how I wished they could have been here to see me get married and see their grandchildren. They got to see your beautiful family but nothing from me. I failed them."
"There may be a way to see them again without disrupting the timeline," Kara said lamely.
Alex wiped away her tears. "We have to talk."
"Shoot," Kara allowed.
"Not here. I want the two of us to go to our favorite camping spot and hash things out," Alex said.
Metropolis
Alex and Kelly met up at their apartment. "I'm actually a little surprised by your sudden turn on your father. It's very positive, full of forgiveness," Kelly said.
"My father believed what he did according to his interpretation of his faith. He didn't scorn me out of hate, disgust, or ulterior motive. He kept his integrity despite all the shit I gave him. He had the courage to keep his beliefs no matter how much I hurt him," Alex said reflectively.
"But you don't think he was right, do you?" Kelly questioned slightly alarmed.
"It doesn't matter. He believed what he did sincerely before he even knew about me coming out. He never brought it up. I always came to him to fight about it when I should have just kept the peace. I was a sower of discord in my family," Alex realized.
"Had my father lived, I would have been in your place. It's not my place to tell you what you should forgive or accept," Kelly said softly.
"I want to marry you and have a family with you, but I have to return a favor to Kara. I have to leave with her to the future...with or without you. I have to give her that chance," Alex said.
"Why do you feel you have to?" Kelly asked stunned. "Your debt with Kara has been repaid. She's saved your life and you have saved hers. You don't owe her anything."
"I have an eternal debt to her," Alex said vaguely. "I can't say more than that. If you don't want to come, I'll understand. When I come back to see you, it will be as if I never left. I'll just look a little older."
"It's not that simple, Alex. Even if it's instant for me, it will be years for you. You will be a different person from how I know you now," Kelly protested.
"It may not be that long," Alex turned away.
"I wish I could just understand why you feel so obligated to her," Kelly said frustrated.
"My father, Kara, you, and our friends saved me from hell," Alex said simply.
"Like...metaphorically speaking?" Kelly wondered.
"No," Alex shook her head.
Maine Wilderness
Kara and Alex hiked around the Maine forest towards their family camping spot. Alex carried a simple backpack while Kara carried a large rucksack filled with camping items. "Of course, I have to carry all the weight," Kara complained.
"Stop your bitching. It's as light as a feather to you," Alex shut her down.
"This camping experience better be worth it. I'm missing my Saturday morning cartoons," Kara went on.
Alex gave her an incredulous look. "If you don't have anything serious to say, shut the fuck up."
"You remember that time we went hiking and you fell off that rock. Good times," Kara recalled fondly from their teenage years.
"I recall how you could have stopped me and didn't," Alex said peeved.
The two finally came to a creepy cabin out in the middle of nowhere. The two worked together at normal speed to clean the place up and make it livable again. They then got the firewood for the firepit. "So...what's on your so-called mind?" Kara asked Alex.
"Wait until dark," Alex told her.
That night, an impatient Kara had a mountain of firewood. "It's getting cold for you. I'm going to start the fire now."
"Don't use your powers," Alex ordered.
"Oh, I got you covered," Kara said and then sprinkled a liberal amount of lighter fluid all over the wood. She then took out a lighter gun and created a roaring fire. "Is this warm enough?"
"Yeah," Alex said, forced to back away from it.
Kara got out some marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers. The two of them began to make smores as they enjoyed the fire. "So, what's this all about?" Kara asked anxiously.
"There's a meditation technique I want to try," Alex said.
"Really? That's why we're out here?" Kara asked unimpressed.
"Kara, you're being tested and you're failing," Alex told her off.
"Alright, I got this. I can't meditate like no one can," Kara said confidently.
The two closed their eyes as the fire continued to roar. After a few moments, the fire turned to an eerie blue. A vision of Eliza appeared out of the flames. "I am proud of you, my daughters. Tonight, you have learned the final and greatest truth of being a warrior, that ultimate mastery comes not from the body but from the spirit. Together, there is nothing your spirits cannot accomplish. Help each other, draw from one another, and always remember the true force that binds you, the same as that which brought me here, tonight. That, which I gladly return with my final words to you: I love you, my daughters."
Kara and Alex gave each other tearful looks as they opened their eyes. After a long pause, Alex spoke. "You have to go back...and I have to go with you." Kara gave Alex a dumbfounded look and simply nodded.
Metropolis
While Kara and Alex were still camping, James came over to have a chat with Kelly at her apartment. "Sup?" he asked coming in.
"This is difficult for me to say so I'll just say it right out. I love Alex and I'm going to go with her," Kelly said.
"Like where?" James asked confused.
"Not where, when," Kelly said emotionally.
"Oh...shit," James realized.
"Alex has made up her mind and I don't want to miss any part of her life she spends in the future. I might even have a place where I feel belonging far away from the problems of this time," Kelly said.
"Hey, I understand. People get married, they move away, siblings drift apart. It's a part of life," James allowed.
"I may visit from time to time, but I might be different when you see me again," Kelly said.
"Fuck, anything different than now would be an improvement," James joked.
"I'm serious, James," Kelly told him off.
"You do what you got to do. I fully support you," James said sincerely.
Kelly then gave him an uncomfortable look. "I need another favor from you. It's...personal."
Kara entered Lex Corp and went up to the top floor. She then entered Lex's office where Lex, Lena, and Karina were waiting for her. "So, it's settled. I'm going back to the future and Alex is coming with me," she announced.
"Good for you, Kara. In the future, you will have the freedom to bring the entire galaxy into the light," Lex said brightly.
"I will always miss you, most versions of you anyway," Kara said sincerely. "I know you're in good hands, my hands," she said referring to Karina.
"Well, it's about time," Karina said impatiently.
"What you're planning, what you intend to do, is fucked up. You will pay for this mistake. Hopefully, you'll learn something from it," Kara said to her.
"We have no choice," Karina replied.
"Yes, you do. Choose the right one," Kara insisted.
"This isn't entirely all our fault for this," Karina argued.
"Whether you be a queen or a pawn, you will be held responsible for your own actions," Kara taught her.
"Let's end this meeting on a high note," Lena suggested.
"Yes, we have interesting news," Lex agreed.
Kara stared at Lena for a moment. "Really?"
"I know, right? I'm pregnant," Lena announced.
"So...who's the father?" Kara mocked.
"Why do you got to be like that, Kara?" Lena asked fuming.
"I'd also like to announce I'm pregnant, too," Kara lied.
"Fuck you, Kara. You will not steal my thunder," Lena said crossly.
"I'm sure your baby will look beautiful and diverse," Kara complimented.
Karina said nothing hiding her disgust for multiple reasons. "You have a name?" Kara asked curiously.
"We're thinking Lucas because it's a cross between James' father and my father's name," Lena said.
"Sure," Kara rolled her eyes. "You have to break this "L" tradition when you have a kid," she said to Lex.
"No promises," Lex smirked.
"What are your future plans?" Kara asked him.
"President of the United States with James as my VP in 2024," Lex said ambitiously.
"Utilize Barney's drones. He'll make it happen," Kara said approvingly.
Kara shook hands with Lex and gave Lena a hug. She then turned to Karina. "You have a chance at a life that was denied me. Do what I failed to do. Keep him safe and make him your whole world."
"As you say, sister," Karina replied and then embraced Kara. "Thank you for giving me life. Remember me in your future."
"I will," Kara promised. "All of you."
At their apartment, Alex and Kelly went over some wedding plans. "What's the point?" Alex wondered looking out the window.
"What do you mean?" Kelly asked concernedly.
"I doubt our marriage will be recognized in the future," Alex assumed.
"Marriage isn't just about legal recognition and benefits. It's something you remember in your heart," Kelly said.
"If that's the case, why can't we just be married now?" Alex asked.
"You have to give your family and friends the opportunity to witness it," Kelly said obviously.
"Yeah, sure," Alex relented.
"So, what do you think? Should we both wear suits, both wear dresses or one of each?" Kelly wondered.
"When I was growing up, I always pictured myself a bride with a beautiful white dress," Alex recalled.
"Same here," Kelly said.
"So, I don't think we should deny ourselves that simply because we're gay. I may be the more masculine between us but I'm also going to get pregnant soon," Alex said.
"Absolutely," Kelly smiled.
Brainiac 5 and Nia toured around a wedding store looking for dresses for Alex and Kelly. "Would you prefer to get married on Earth or on Naltoria?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"Naltorian weddings have the bride and groom naked," Nia pointed out.
"I know," Brainiac 5 replied.
"I'm not entirely sure I'm comfortable with that," Nia said wide-eyed.
"I assure you, you look perfectly female," Brainiac 5 said.
"I know you have no modesty but I do," Nia reminded him.
"What if I gave you an uninhabited island? Would you be willing to indulge me there?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"In that case, sure," Nia allowed.
"Lena is already pregnant. According to typical plot progression, you're next," Brainiac 5 said.
"I don't want to be rushed into...having an incest baby with my sister," Nia said uncertainly.
"Fair enough," Brainiac 5 allowed.
"Why did John Milton have to disappear on Maeve? This completely complicates things," Nia said stressed out.
"You wouldn't want to give birth to John Milton's child," Brainiac 5 said knowingly.
"Oh, really? Why's that?" Nia asked curiously.
"For one, he's Satan. I also noticed there were irregularities in his corporate accounts," Brainiac 5 said.
Nia rolled her eyes at him not taking him seriously. "Alright, these two dresses," Nia pointed out.
Brainiac 5 scanned the dresses with his eyes. "They fit their dimensions."
Nia looked over the dress enviously. "I want to try it on for myself. Come with me into the changing room."
"Of course," Brainiac 5 said following her.
Kara entered Catco and entered Cat's office. "I quit!" she said obnoxiously.
"Whatever could be the matter, Kara? It couldn't be the pay," Cat rolled her eyes.
Kara sat down and decided to have a serious conversation with her beloved boss. "I'm going back to the future and I don't know what I'll come back in this time."
"Wouldn't you just come back instantly to this time if you did?" Cat asked confused.
"I find that to be boring. If I spend three years in the future, I could be back here in 2025," Kara suggested.
"What if the world is in peril during that time?" Cat asked.
"My sister will take care of it," Kara said confidently.
"I won't hold my breath on that one," Cat doubted as the TV monitors all showed a Russian imminent invasion.
"Want to come to a gay wedding?" Kara asked brightly.
"I suppose I should seeing as how my daughter, Catherine, might end up marrying a woman. You never know with these kids," Cat said thoughtfully.
"That's for damn sure," Kara agreed.
"When you go back to the future and create for yourself a state monopoly on the media, remember what you learned here," Cat said seriously.
"I will," Kara promised.
Cat looked over the TV monitors. "With you gone, God help us."
DEO Fortress
Kara, Mon, Alex, Brainiac 5, James, and Winn met up in the hanger. "In the 31st century, all of your belongings will be gone via the passage of time. Have you itemized everything you wish to take with you?" Brainiac 5 asked Alex.
"Yeah," Alex nodded as Brainiac 5 drones loaded up the Vindicator cruiser with compartments.
The lead Brainiac 5 drone was given a suitcase. He opened the suitcase showing a large collection of vials. Upon confirming their contents, he closed the suitcase. "This should be sufficient enough genetic material to impregnate Alex. If not, we'll simply get more."
"And I am happy to oblige," James smiled.
"Nice," Mon smirked.
"This is extremely awkward. Should I be hearing this?" Winn asked anxiously.
"We're all married here," Kara shut him down.
"The delivery system is already onboard," Brainiac 5 informed Alex.
"Delivery system?" Winn wondered.
"A prosthetic penis. Try to keep up," Kara scolded.
Alex shook her head dismayed. "When are we leaving?"
"Soon after the wedding," Brainiac 5 replied.
"Shit, I don't have a decent suit," Winn panicked.
"One will be provided for you," Brainiac 5 assured him. "Mon will be going back to the future a week prior to when Kara left to go to this time. It is essential he does not do anything to prevent Kara from leaving to this time."
"Too easy," Mon rolled his eyes.
Brainiac 5 gave him an uncertain look. "To avoid further time paradoxes, Kara, Alex, and Kelly will arrive shortly after Kara left to go to the past. The year will be 3024 on Mars."
"Wait...why Mars?" Kara asked confused.
Alex pulled Kara aside. "I agreed to go back with you to the future but it has to be on my terms. Kelly and I need space to adapt to this future existence. It's going to be strange and different for us. We need time to adapt and bond."
"Like a honeymoon?" Kara assumed.
"Yeah, something like that," Alex said.
"For how long?" Kara asked impatiently.
"I don't know," Alex admitted.
"That sounds like bullshit. You can't stay on Mars your entire life and then bitch that the 31st century sucks. I want you to enjoy the worlds I built for you," Kara insisted.
"It's either my way or we're not going," Alex said simply.
"So, it's going to be like that? Alright, fine," Kara relented.
"Good," Alex said pleased, and walked off.
Mon went over to Kara having overheard the whole thing. "She's going to leverage herself against you for the rest of your life."
Kara sighed. "I know."
Midvale
A small gathering arrived in the open yard of the Danvers' residence looking over the beach. Alex and Kelly appeared perfectly feminine with wedding dresses, make-up, and hairstyle. They exchanged vows, gave each other rings, and a passionate kiss. The two then turned towards the beach where a drone camera went to get the perfect shot. Alex and Kelly were naturally upfront. The camera then went to Kara and Mon wearing a blue dress and tux. Mon had his arm around Kara as she wiped away happy tears. Overlooking Kara and Mon was James with a proud expression on his face. The camera then went to Brainiac 5 and Nia together as they held hands. After them, Winn stood alone with Beth Kane right behind him. Moving on, the camera focused on Lena and Lex together. Further still was Cat Grant, her current husband, her daughter, Catherine, and her older son, Adam.
The camera moved onto several Justice League members that had decided to appear: Diana and Steve, Arthur and Mera, Barry, and Cyborg. Behind them were Hank, M'gann, Malefic, and M'yrnn. Beyond them, several of Alex's friends from high school were present: Vicki Donaghue and Joan, Pete Ross and his wife. Carol Danvers awkwardly stood off to the side in the back. Sam and Ruby were off on the other side. In the very back was Maggie.
After the wedding, Alex and Kelly greeted everyone present that wanted to congratulate them and give condolences. Alex finally gave Maggie a warm hug. "You look great," Maggie said adoringly. "And she looks great."
"Thank you," Alex said appreciatively.
Alex and Kelly then entered a car with a "Just Married" sign on the back and made their way towards the DEO with a lot to talk about on the way. The Danvers' residence was sold off to Lex Corp. where it was preserved for several more decades.
DEO Fortress
Alex and Kelly finally arrived at the DEO with everyone else already there. The Super-Friends waited around a little longer as Alex and Kelly got out of their dresses, took a shower presumably together, and then came out in black DEO uniforms. "It was great seeing you again. If you ever come back to the 21st century, let me know about it," Winn said.
"I will," Alex promised him.
"I haven't really gotten to know you very well, Kelly, but from what James has told me about you over the years, the future looks bright," Winn complimented.
"Thank you, Winn," Kelly said appreciatively.
"Alright, let's get you to Argo. Kara, do you want to come?" Mon asked her.
"No...I don't think I will," Kara replied.
"Well, okay then," Mon said. With one hand on Winn's ship and another on Winn's shoulder, he suddenly disappeared them all to Argo. Mon then quickly reappeared.
"The time machine is ready for you," Brainiac 5 informed him.
"I'm putting a lot of trust in you to not fuck this up," Kara said to him.
"Hey, it's me," Mon smirked and then entered the time machine. The rest watched as Brainiac 5 put in the right coordinates. A ball of energy appeared around Mon's body as the rings rotated rapidly around him. Finally, he was gone.
Kara looked around apprehensively. "Okay, he didn't fuck it up."
Hank came over to Kara. "Something tells me I'll still be alive a thousand years from now. Don't be a stranger."
"I haven't and I won't," Kara assured him.
James came up to Alex. "One time should do the trick," he said referring to his sperm.
"That's extremely inappropriate," Kelly scolded him.
"We'll be using all of it," Alex assured him.
"Nice," James smiled.
Lena came over to Kara. "It was a fun ride," she said offering her hand to her.
"In the future, women can kiss on the mouth without it being gay," Kara told her.
"In that case," Lena smiled and then kissed Kara on the mouth as the men inappropriately chuckled and clapped their hands.
Kara broke from Lena and addressed the entire group present. "There was so much I wish to say to you all but I think maybe I've said enough. You all know who I am, my virtues, my faults, my complexity," Kara smiled. "You know me better than I know myself. This is not the end for me or you but the beginning. No matter what you end up doing, have fun while you're doing it. The one emotion I wish to impart to all of you is joy."
Kara then wiped away a tear as she entered the Vindicator cruiser with Alex, Kelly, and a lone Brainiac 5 unit following. As everyone watched, the Vindicator cruiser lifted off and went into space. From there, the Vindicator cruiser disappeared in a flash of light as it went forward in time.
On the runway, the Super-Friends could see a flash of light in the night sky. "I have visions of something terrible about to happen. Are we going to be able to manage without them?" Nia asked Brainiac 5.
After looking over those left, Brainiac 5 turned to Nia. "We have a fighting chance."
Moscow
At the PATRIOT base, Karina met up with Alina. "You need me for another drill?" Karina asked, annoyed at being summoned.
"Now that the Olympics are over, the order has been given," Alina said stressed out as PATRIOT agents moved about in a flurry of activity.
"What order?" Karina wondered.
"The order," Alina replied.
"Well...shit," Karina sighed.
3024-Sol System
The Vindicator cruiser reappeared and immediately jettisoned an escape pod towards Mars. The pod went past the shipbuilding dock, through Mars' atmosphere, and towards a special settlement. The pod slowed down and entered a forcefield surrounding the settlement. It then landed without incident on the surface with Brainiac 5 drones and Martians on the spot. The doors to the pod then opened.
Meanwhile, the Vindicator cruiser docked with a Prometheus light carrier, the USS Lena. Surrounding the USS Lena were several smaller warships and dozens of patrolling fighters. Kara exited the Vindicator cruiser and was greeted with formations of Brainiac 5 drones, humans, and aliens in Galactic Federation uniforms. Kara was now dressed in her black Supergirl uniform. In this time and place, she was the Supreme Leader.
The admiral of the fleet and the captain of the ship, both Brainiac 5 drones, approached Kara. "Welcome back, Supreme Leader. Was your trip to the past to your satisfaction?" he asked.
Kara thought carefully on her choice of words seeing as how they would be her last in this story. "It was an adventure."
Author's Notes: The struggle between Alex and Jeremiah is akin to how many struggle with God throughout their lives. I didn't want to present the old cliché of the older man instant capitulating to his enlightened child. That isn't how it is in the real world. Many of you may believe Alex should have cut Jeremiah off while others may believe Alex should have just obeyed Jeremiah's moral orders. AOS has a central theme of accepting differences and forgiving faults in others to ridiculous levels. While offending every possible demographic was always the goal, my main motivation was to entertain. I appreciate all the reviews, PMs, emails, and input I have received on this story. While it wasn't possible to comment on every aspect of the CW, pop culture, current events, politics, religion, etc., I hope this story, as long as it is, has given readers adequate material to reflect on.
If you like SG material like this and want to read more, go to my profile page and favorite/follow this list: Midvale, Adventures of Batwoman, Adventures of Overgirl, Supergirl Returns, Devil's Advocate, and Kara.
The final chapter of this story will be published upon the end of the IRL Russian-Ukrainian War however long that takes. If you feel there is something I'm desperately missing before this story closes, this would be the time. Adventures of Supergirl will continue in a future spin-off that will feature the Galactic Federation, the Legion of Superheroes (Vindicators), and Alex adapting to her new life.
