They spent the next few hours in the designated area for martial arts otherwise known as hand to hand combat. The three ARC troopers had run a series of tests to determine his level of capability and discovered that Lucas knew the basics already, they just needed refining but otherwise was ready to move up onto the next level of training.

During this, Lucas hadn't noticed Jango or his Mandalorian mercenaries watching from above on the balcony. The Mandalorians above were surveying Lucas to adapt the training program around what he already knows and what they needed to focus more or less on. For example they needed to focus intensely on physical fitness and conditioning.

Once the martial arts training was finished for the day the ARC troopers took Lucas to the cantina showing him around and explaining what he could expect for the food which apparently wasn't the greatest. The food was much needed for Lucas due to his physical exertion from the activities during the first part of the day.

Surprisingly Lucas was given more food than the other clones as explained by the cooks they had been ordered by Jango Fett to supply him with more due to his need to gain weight after his time on the streets. During the meal Havoc introduced Lucas to some of their fellow ARC troopers like Fordo.

After finishing his food he is immediately swept off to flash training where whilst on the way it was explained to him by the instructor in charge of this phase of training that flash training is a technique using holographic flashes allowing them to accumulate knowledge and skills at a significantly faster rate. The start of the flash training focuses on weapons handling and tactics before moving onto military protocols, simulation and drills. They informed him that he would be spending more time in the flash training than the clones during the day to fast track his training as they needed him to learn as quickly as possible to move onto the more extensive training given to the elite soldiers.

Lucas was in the flash training for as long as the human mind could healthily and legitimately sustain the rapid inflow of information. He was eventually taken from the flash training when an instructor removed him from the machine and handed a flask of water and after finishing the drink handed another but instead of water was some kind of concoction filled with nutrients and protein. He was then told that he would have to drink three of those concoctions a day to help boost the development time of his malnourished body.

With little time to rest the instructor took him off to the physical training room where he met his instructors for these sessions. The instructors were ruthless and unforgiving, one was a man and the other a woman who were both clearly battle hardened warriors and had both killed Jedi in the past.

They started the training by sending the 16 year old on a fast paced run around the facility until he could do no more and collapsed, then was taken to lift weights that were much heavier than he should realistically be lifting.

After several grueling and bitter hours with the two instructors, Lucas is once again sent to the catina for another much needed meal before dragging himself off to his room from the night before. He forced himself to have a shower, the warm water soothing his aching bones and muscles before drying and getting changed. He collapsed onto his bed exhausted and aching everywhere. His fair skin littered with red marks and bruises from the day.

Lucas spent the next few months doing much of the same thing as he did during that day but each day his training became tougher and more brutal than the day before. His physical trainers were relentless as he finally achieved the fitness and muscle acceptable as a soldier they pushed him harder to the point Lucas thought would be physically impossible for a normal individual but with much blood, sweat and anger managed to push himself through it and in doing so rewarding him with a strong and building will power and determination, something Jango and the other mercenaries noticed and finally felt he was ready for the next phase

As Lucas with unbearably long hours had finally managed to complete the standard flash training they point him through the Advanced Recon Commando flash training which included but not limited to knowledge and capability to utilise a variety of different vehicles and how to survive in dangerous environments.

His Advanced Recon Commando training put him everyday through constantly changing simulations of military operations and battlefield scenarios. This training was done in a place the Mandalorians had nicknamed the Citadel named after the prison with such name. Sometimes the situations had him operating by himself to complete assignments, other times with the standard and mostly available clones that made up the rank and file of the army. Occasionally they would assign him to a team of ARC troopers and put through scenarios of their caliber.

Lucas was taken by surprise when a mercenary informed him that he would be leading the assignment for that day. Internally Lucas was nervous as this was his first time leading anyone but on the outside didn't break the stoicism he had developed since he arrived. He had managed successfully to lead his team to victory in the simulation but had unfortunately 'lost' a few soldiers. Lucas was advised by the female Mandalorian leading his physical conditioning that it's a reality of war and you can't save everyone.

By the end of the year Lucas had developed a slightly higher level of muscle mass and fitness compared to the rank and file of the clone Army. He also spent as much free time in one of the three training facilities, the firing range, the gym and the martial arts room wanting to push himself as much as possible.

Unfortunately a side effect of the busy training schedule planned by Jango and his trainers meant he didn't often have time to socialise with the three clone Commanders he met on the first day.
