Chapter 2: What happened
I heard voices from a distance and could barely make out what they were saying. I could distinctly make out 3 voices, two were female and one was male. As my consciousness grew, I could understand what they were saying. The voices sounded very familiar as well.
"The poor girl. Miss Evans found her outside by the forbidden forest. She must have had been running from someone," said a female voice.
"Yes, or something," said the other.
"When she wakes, we will ask her. Did you find anything wrong with her Poppy?" asked the male.
"Actually yes…" said the second female voice. "I'm afraid that she was bitten by a…"
The woman named Poppy lowered her voice but I could still hear her. "Werewolf."
I shifted slightly and they looked at me. "Hush now, she is awakening," said the male voice.
I opened my eyes to a blinding light, and quickly closed them again. I heard the male chuckle in the way I grew up hearing and slowly opened them. There stood my father, just younger looking, my mother and Poppy, the nurse. They all looked at me with worry on their faces.
"Where am I?" I croaked my voice ruff with disuse. "Mother, Father, what happened?"
"We aren't your parents, young miss," said the first witch, who had black hair and green eyes. "You are at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. My name is Minerva McGonagall."
The man, who had my auburn hair and blue eyes, was smiling a knowing smile at me. "Miss Dumbledore," he said. "You are in the past. Life as you knew it, is gone."
He held up my broken time turner. "You see, once a time turner is broken, the user is sent to a specific time and can never go back. I do believe you have a letter in your pocket explaining this."
I reached into my pocket and drew out a letter that I swore had not been there before. "I didn't have this on me before," I said, handing the letter to my Father.
He opened the letter and read it out loud.
Albus and Minerva,
This letter is for you to understand what is going on here in the future. The girl who gave you this letter is your daughter, Hermione Rae Dumbledore. She was originally from the time she is sent to yet when she was younger she was sent to this future time to help the war end. She is now being sent back to help prevent this war.
I understand if you are confused by what I am saying. Hermione is a smart girl and will know what to do, as long as you guide her. I hope that this evil that has begun to stir in your time will not contradict any longer.
Then Father stopped reading and read silently to himself for a while. Then he continued reading.
Hermione will need all the help she can get and must never return to this time period.
May Merlin be with you,
Severus Snape
Master of Potions
Potions Professor in the future
"This is our daughter, Hermione?" Mother asked. "But how? She died when she was born."
Mother looked at me and tears came to her eyes. She sobbed and hugged me close. "My sweet little girl. I'm so sorry."
I hugged her back and then Father. I was with my family now. And I would never let them go.
"We need a story to explain how Hermione just suddenly appeared," Mother said.
"Maybe we can say that I went to school at Beauxbatons and wanted to come to school here," I said. "I was sent to live with an aunt and uncle in France and wanted to come home."
"That sounds good enough for me," Father said. "We need to get you settled into a house."
The hat was put on my head and soon was sorted into Gryffindor. Mother lead me up to the common room where there was two boys playing a game, another watching, one reading and a girl writing. Mother cleared her throat and they looked up.
"I want to introduce you to Miss Dumbledore," Mother said. "Please make her feel welcomed and help her around the school. She is from France but speaks English so do not try to annoy her. Hermione, I will take you shopping this weekend for your things."
"Alright, thank you Mother," I said as she left.
I turned to face my new fellow Gryffindors who stared at me as well. "Um, hi."
