MASH
It was late and the group had settled in for the night. Kagome couldn't sleep so she pulled out her math notebook. "I guess my math homework will just have to wait," she muttered to herself. After fishing around her backpack for a pen, she began to write, doing the best she could in the dark.
At the top os the paper she wrote four letters. MASH She knew it was just a childish game, but she was bored, and couldn't fall asleep.
"Now," she mumbled quietly, "five boys." InuYasha's ears perked up when he heard his female companion whispering to herself. He was about to ask what she was doing up as she began to speak again. "InuYasha, Kouga, Miroku, Hojou," she paused and stopped scribbling. "And Akitoki," she shrugged. InuYasha was more interested now. He was sure he'd heard his name, and that flea-bitten wolf, and the perverted monk, and the wimpy human boy from the future, and that klutzy human.
"Next," he heard Kagome start again. "Automobiles." He wasn't sure what she meant by that, but he listened any way. "Horse, bike, car, no car at all," she paused again and suppressed a giggle. "And I suppose InuYasha could be like a mode of transportation." The hanyou raised his eyebrow. Just what was she doing?
He heard her rattle of five colors; brown, green, blue, pink orange.
"Number of kids," he heard her say. Did Kagome have kids he didn't know about? Is that what she was writing? No, couldn't be, Kagome was too pure for that. Right? Kagome scribbled down the numbers one through five as she mumbled them.
"Location," she said. Was she talking about where she was right now? God, this was confusing InuYasha. "Feudal Era, Modern Age, USA, Japan, The Shrine." He really wished he knew what she was mumbling about.
"Job." Kagome thought longer about this one. "I have to think of things I could do here or back home," she sighed. Was she planning out her life? That was it, InuYasha reasoned. But why was she giving herself so many options? "Priestess," InuYasha wondered if she really wanted to be a priestess. "Teacher," Well she is good with kids, the runt's proof of that. "Stay at home mom, actress," 'Now she's just making things up.' "Archery instructor." 'That she could do.'
He listened as Kagome counted to four over and over again, crossing something off at every "four". His curiosity got the better of him and he got up to see what she was doing. "Kagome, what're you writing?" he asked, his eyes straining to see the paper. "Oh, nothing," she said, feigning a yawn. She put down the notebook and pen and looked up at Inuyasha. "G'night InuYasha," she smiled. "Night Kagome," he replied, going back to his corner to sleep.
As she snuggled into ger sleeping bag she smiled, thinking about what the game had told her.
'I will live in Mansion.
I will drive
a brown Horse.
I will marry InuYasha and have 5
kids.
I will be a teacher in Japan.'
Sure, it was just a childish game, nothing to get excited over. But as she rolled over and saw Inuyasha drifting off to sleep she knew some part of it had to be true. With that happy though, she fell asleep, leaving her mind to wander and dream.
What did you think? I found an online MASH game and after finding my results unsatisfactory, I played a game with Kagome's interests in mind. I have no idea why I chose the number 4 but I think the outcome was alright.
