Chapter 1 - Memories
There was a glorious sunset in the background and a man and a woman in the foreground. The perfect romantic setting, or is it? She runs toward him, sobbing. He opens his arm to embrace her, but she passes through his body and stumbles to the ground. He tries to help her up, but her hand passes through his. She stands up, and tries to hug what is not truly there. He steps back and stops her. Hand waving, he continues to step back and suddenly, he turns and jumps. She screams and falls to her knees. He falls through the air, wordless tears spilling from his eyes. A forced smile, and one last glance at the woman he may never be able to see again…
"You are such a crybaby."
"NO!" Tidus shouted and woke abruptly. He sat up and cursed, "Damn you Jecht!" It was still dark, another one or two hours before dawn. "Who was that girl? She seems so familiar, but I can't remember who she is. It seems like I've seen her somewhere before. Almost every night, I see her face in one odd dream or another. Argh, who is she?" Tidus said to himself. He covered his head with the blanket and tried to go back to sleep, but the image of that mysterious woman kept appearing in his mind. Frustrated, he threw off the blankets and walked to the window. The sky seemed dark compared to the hordes of lights illuminating the city of Zanarkand. Bright lights lit all corners of the city, from the widest of streets to the narrowest of alleys. Tidus' eyes slowly wandered towards the direction of the blitzball stadium, home of the Zanarkand Abes. It glowed the brightest of all, like a sun amidst all the other stars.
Thinking of blitzball brought back memories of Wakka and the Besaid Aurochs. One thing led to another, and soon memories of his time in Spira flooded through his mind, images of the happy times and the troubled times. However, there was always something missing in his memories, like there was something he couldn't remember. A year of memories flashed through his head in five short minutes.
