I walked into the Fenton household with a smile on this fine Monday evening. I figured I'd hang out with Danny for the rest of the day. I mean, he is just right across the street! So, why not, right! Plus I had just finished part of that new song I was writing. So it was time for some fun!

But you won't believe the surprise I got when I noticed Dash sitting at the kitchen table with Jazz. He had just handed her an invitation to his stupid party.

"Dash?" I spoke, gaining their attention. "What are you doing here?"

"None of your business, Winthrope!" Dash exclaimed, making Jazz sigh in defeat. I grinned at her empathy before walking further into the kitchen.

"Fine by me," I said. "I'm here to see Danny. Is he here?"

"He's down in the lab," Jazz answered. "I must warn you though, he's been a little out of it today."

No kidding, I thought. I was the same way when I got my powers. I just gave her a smile and nod, my way of saying thank you, and headed down into the lab. And Mr. Fenton rushed on passed me.

"Dad, couldn't you just run it into-" I heard Danny say before hearing something get shot out of a nozzle. I stopped dead in my tracks as I heard what sounded like the portal getting turned on again and opening. "-REVERSE!" I quickly raced down the stairs but hid behind the wall. If a ghost came out, we'd have the element of surprise.

Laughter filled my ears after a moment and I could see the surprise and fear in Danny's face from where I hid. He still hasn't noticed I was there.

"Child!" The ghost stated. "You have freed me! Technus, ghost master of science and electrical technology!"

"Oh, no you don't!" Danny yelled as I watched him hop in the air and changed into his ghost form. "You're not gonna use the technology in this lab to take over the world!" I slapped my forehead.

Huh...usually Tucker makes me do that.

"What?" Technus questioned with wonder. "That's a great idea! Have ever considered tutoring?"

"Trust me. I'm the one who has to tutor him," I mumbled to myself as I quickly changed into my ghost form and waited for the right time to attack. I watched as Danny flew in but then got flown back by what looked to be an electrical current. I guess now was as good as it could get. So, I quickly raced out of hiding and punched Technus in the gut, tossing him back some.

"What?! There's two of you?!" He yelled when he looked up and saw me standing there.

"Oh, please! You act like being a half-ghost is rare," I retorted as I dodged an attack with a backflip towards Danny.

"And I've already dunked on once in my own house," Danny spoke as he took grabbed the vacuum looking thing by his feet. "And that's enough for one day!" He held it as it started to blow in everything around it. I quickly dodged out of it's aim and watched as it sucked up Technus, making it bloat up. And no, I don't mean "blow up", I legit mean "bloat". But soon beakers got sucked up inside it and it eventually did blow up, leaving ecto-goop all over the lab.

"Danny, I'm coming back!" Mr. Fenton called. "And I can't wait to see the lab exactly as I left it!"

"Weirdly specific wording there," I said with surprise.

"GAH!" Danny quickly went intangible and flew through the ceiling, with me not to far behind him. We found ourselves in Danny's room now as we changed back to normal. I giggled as he looked at me with worry.

"Danny, have you met your dad? He's as clueless as clueless can get!" I exclaim with another giggle, which in turns seems to east Danny's mind.

"You are right about that," He said as he started to chuckle himself. "I should just relax."

"Yeah," I replied with a smile as I plopped down on one of Danny's bean bag chairs.

"Thanks for having my back in there, by the way," He said as he sat on his bed.

"No big!" It didn't take long for my stomach to growl. I grabbed it out of embarrassment as Danny chuckled.

"Come on," He said, standing up. "Let's hit the Nasty Burger. Tucker and Sam are probably waiting for me anyway."

"Wait, you guys were going to hang out without me!?" I yelled with mock hurt.

"Sam said you were busy writing a new song!"

"I was," I confirmed. "But I got most of it done today and figured I'd take a break. And I'm glad I did because look what almost became a bad time!"

"You're having writer's block, aren't you?"

"Yes," He knew me better than I knew myself sometimes.

Cut to us now in the Nasty Burger talking about whatever with Sam and Tucker. Danny was off in his own little world.

"So, Saturday night plans," Sam said, making me look at her from my seat beside her. "I say we hit the amusement park. I heard the new roller coaster has a free fall that will take three years of your life expectancy." I just shivered at that thought.

"No way," Tucker retorted. "It costs 40 bucks just to get in there. Not mention food and stuff."

"Hey, if you're tapped out, I can lend you the cash," Sam offered, which I thought was sweet of her.

"Lend means repay, and repay is out of my reach," Tucker countered, which again, I thought was sweet. That was showing he was responsible to decline a money offer, when he knew he couldn't pay it back right away. I have some wonderful friends.

"Right, Danny?" Tucker asked as I looked over at Danny, seeing this dreamy and far off look on his face. "Danny? Hello!" I finally looked to see Dash passing out invitations to his party right as he gave one to Paulina.

"Great," Danny began, "it's the hottest party of the school year, and Paulina's going and I'm not...again."

"I don't understand what you see in her!" I exclaimed with annoyance. That's all he ever talks about nowadays is Paulina. He should be over her now after what happened at the dance.

"Are you kidding? She's only like...perfectly flawless," Danny retorted, making my blood partially boil. I can't wait until I have that song finished, I thought to myself. Not even a moment later, I heard Paulina ordering a mighty MINI cheesy melt...stupidly.

"You're right," Sam began, "she's a goddess."

"Why don't we get invited to the really cool parties?" Tucker asked as I turned away from Paulina and opened my songbook. I figured if I got ideas I could write them down...and BOY was I getting an overflow of them just now.

'She'll never notice how you stop and stare, whenever she walks by'...those sounded good. I continued writing them down before I heard something get slapped into someone's face.

"Here!" It was Dash. I looked up from my songbook and saw that Dash had given Danny an invitation. "Your sister made me invite you," He then looked at Sam and Tucker who blinked before he dropped an invite on my book. I looked at it with surprise. "Just you two. Show up, shut it, go home, and no one gets hurt." Soon after, Dash walked away and everyone was giving us attention for getting invited to Dash's party. Well, Paulina gave Danny attention and ignored me. But that was expected coming from her.

"I'm invited," Danny said with a smile. "I've arrived!" His eyes lit up at his smile and I couldn't help but grin at his excitement.

Hey, that might be a good part of the song.

"Swell," Sam said dejected. "Send us a postcard from Popularity-Ville."

"I will!" Danny exclaimed before leaving the restaurant.

"Okay!" I exclaimed as I looked at the invite. "How did Jazz get me invited!?"

"Does she know how you feel about Danny?" Sam asked with a smirk.

"I mean, maybe! I swear, it has to be obvious to everyone BUT Danny!" I said with a sigh. "I don't know if I should go."

"This could be your only chance to go to one of these, Briar!" Tucker said.

"Yeah, I know," I said in return. "But, it's not like he asked me to perform or anything!"

"Oh, by the way," Dash spoke up again as he walked back over. "I heard your performance at the school dance. You're pretty good. Mind performing a few songs at my party?"

"Uh..." I was speechless. Could this day get any weirder? "Sure, I guess."

"Cool," And Dash was gone again.

"And now I have to go," I sighed once again as I placed the invite in my bag.

"Hey, is this your new song?" Sam asked as she took my book and read it over. I was a little nervous with her reading it, considering it's not even done yet. But I know Sam, she would tell me if something was wrong with it and won't have to waste time re-writing. "It's not bad!"

"It's not?" I asked with a smile.

"No! And I love the title! "Invisible". Perfect for a ghost girl," She winked at me, making me giggle.

I was at my locker the next day, looking at a couple photos of me and my friends. There was one of just me and Danny on my door, making me grin with sorrow. In the photo, Danny had his arm around me with a peace sign and a smile. I looked to have been laughing at something he did.

And then my eyes gazed a photo of me and dad when I was 5. We were on the roof of our old house here in Amity Park, looking behind us to my mom who took the photo. I was waving my little hand to her while my dad smiled sweetly and lovingly.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I placed my hand gently over it. "Dad, if you were here, you might know exactly what to say to me right now." I sighed as I closed my locker and looked over to see Danny and Paulina talking. Though he seemed nervous about something.

"Oh, so the only time she notices him is when he's invited by one of the A-Lists?" I sighed again before walking over to Sam and Tucker. But I was stopped by Dash halfway to them. I just rolled my eyes while he stood in front of me. "What, Dash?"

"This is what we're wearing to the party," He showed me a picture of these sweats on this magazine. "Do you have one?"

"No," I said bluntly. "And with my mom's career path, I doubt I'll be able to afford college!"

"Bummer," Dash said. "Though, you're performing so, just wear whatever. If you want, you could wear that dress you wore to the dance. You looked nice in it." Then he was gone while Sam and Tucker walked over.

"Was Dash Baxter hitting on me just now?" I genuinely asked. "I'm being serious."

"He might have been," Sam said. "Maybe he knows you like Danny and decided to try to grab you before he can?"

"Doubtful," I sighed. "Dash has meat for brains and an IQ of a chipmunk. He can't see a crush from a mile away."

"Crush? Who has a crush on who?" Danny asked as he walked up to us, Paulina not far behind.

"It's nothing, Danny," I said. "If you can't see something that's right in front of you, then it's nothing." I then stormed off to class.

I decided to get some air while I played my guitar, so I went up to the roof and sat there with my beloved instrument. I wanted to find the music for my song "Invisible", and hopefully I'll get inspired with new lyrics as I went on.

So far, I wasn't getting anywhere with it.

It was already Saturday and Sam told me about Danny's dilemma on the sweats he had to get. I'm so glad I was blunt with Dash and said no to him. I wasn't one to conform immediately to what society wants me to be (unlike Danny). I thought who I was now, was a wonderful person. And I was staying that way.

"Hey," I thought as I flipped to a page I had a finished song on and started practicing it until I heard a shout from across the street. I looked over and saw Sam working hard on cleaning up the garage sale that Danny held. I wanted no part in it so I skipped out. But now it seemed that she needed help.

I closed my book and went down to my room to put them away before racing out of the house and towards Danny's.

"Sam?" I asked, making her look at me and sigh with relief.

"Briar, hey. Mind helping me?" She asked, making me giggle.

"Sure," I quickly grabbed a box and put the stuff from the tables in it. "So, where'd Danny go?"

"He went to the mall to get those sweats," Sam said annoyed, making me roll my eyes. "I swear, he's changed ever since he was invited to that stupid party!"

"I know," I sighed. "It's like I don't know him anymore. But...that doesn't stop how I feel for him."

"I figured," Sam smirked as she tossed another item into a box. "You know, if you don't want to go to the party to perform, you can always come to my place. Mega Movie Marathon tonight!"

"Really?" I thought about it for a moment. This could be my excuse to not go. But then again, I already agreed to Dash I'd sing and in my eyes, that's a promise. So I couldn't go back on that. I sighed and looked at Sam with remorse. "I'd love to, Sam. But I promised. And I always keep my promises."

"I understand," Sam said. "At least you haven't let it go to your head."

"My dad always told me to always stay true to who I was made to be," I retorted. "And even if he can't see me now, I'm sure he's proud of me."

"Oh, yeah. Danny told me what happened. I'm so sorry, Briar."

"It's fine. It was a while ago," I took a deep breath to stop any tears from coming out. And thankfully it worked.

"So, a razor tried to chop off your head?" I asked as Danny and I were walking down the street to Dash's party. He was wearing that stupid sweat suit look with a gold chain and black shirt. I do have to say though, he looked pretty good in it. But I don't want him wearing it all the time.

"Yeah! And I know I should be concerned, but-!"

"Danny, we're ghost heroes! We should always be on guard when something haunting takes place," I reprimanded. I was carrying my guitar case and was wearing just a plain black dress with a deep red leather jacket over it and black ankle boots.

"I know, but this party...it could change my life," He said, making me sigh.

"And by life, you mean maybe become Paulina's boyfriend?" I asked annoyed, which earned me a nervous grin. I sighed as I stopped us and looked at him. "Danny, do you really want a girl who only thinks of herself? Or-" That's when it hit me, making me smirk as I put a hand on his chest. "Or do you want someone who will have your back and who will always be there for you no matter what?"

Danny looked into my eyes for a moment, gulping slightly as I sighed and turned away. Just seeing the smallest form of debate in his eyes told me everything. My feelings were not to be returned anytime soon.

"Forget it," I said. "Let's just get there before it's too late." We walked further down to Dash's house and up the stairs to the door. I waited for Danny to get his nerves before ringing the doorbell. Dash answered wearing...Danny's clothes?

"Uh, Dash?" Danny asked with surprise.

"Oh, right, right," Dash began, "you're not really part of my posse, so you didn't get the email."

"Oh, boy," I mumbled with a sigh.

"You see after I bought all that computer stuff I didn't have enough money to buy the sweat suit," Dash stated. "So I changed the dress code to loser chic." I looked behind Dash and sure enough, I saw that everyone was dressed like Danny, Sam, and Tucker. Now I wish I hadn't taken the gig to perform.

"Oh, swell," Danny said as we walked in. I placed a hand on his shoulder and grinned before heading to a spot near the front. I got a glare from Paulina, but I ignored it and got my guitar ready.

"You like it?!" I heard her ask Danny. "It's so horrible, it's cool!" I then heard her gasp, making me turn around to see what was going on. "ECK! Who dressed you? Your mom?" I saw her walk away as Danny went to say something but then looked bummed.

Okay, now I so badly want to embarrass Dash for doing this. But then I'd stoop to his level and I was NOT going there. So I took a deep breath and sat on the stool with my guitar. I saw Danny for a moment before leaned up against a wall and watched as people walked around him.

It's showtime.

(SONG: "Most Girls" (Acoustic) – Hailee Steinfeld) [shortened]

I started playing the music to the song, making everyone stop what they're doing and listen. And no, it wasn't a love song towards Danny...but it did have a good message for girls.

BRIAR: Some girls/feel best in their tiny dress./Some girls/nothing but sweat pants/looking like a princess./Some girls/kiss new lips every single night/they're staying up late cause they're just celebrating life./You know, some days you feel so good in your own skin./But it's okay if you wanna change the body that you came in./Cause you look greatest when you feel like a darn queen./We're all just playing the game in a way trying to win that life./CHORUS/Most girls/are smart, and strong, and beautiful./Most girls/work hard, go far, we are unstoppable./Most girls/our fight to make everyday/no two are the same./I wanna be like/I wanna be like/most girls.

I played the interlude as I saw everyone getting into the music of the guitar, and I could even see Paulina was getting into it. I didn't think she would since she didn't like me much. But when I went to find Danny...I saw him smiling at me with remorse. This always told me he needed to go be alone. So I nodded to him without anyone else knowing and he went upstairs.

BRIAR: Our fight to make everyday/no two are the same./I wanna be like/I wanna be like/most girls./I wanna be like/I wanna be like/most girls./I wanna be like/I wanna be like...yeah...I wanna be like/I wanna be like...

(End of the song)

When I played the last chord, everyone went crazy, making me smile as I stood up and put my guitar away.

"Hey, wait!" Dash said, making me look at him unamused. "I thought I asked for three songs!"

"You embarrassed Danny," I answered with a smirk now. "So you're only getting one. And no charge. The fact that you didn't have the money for the sweats yourself tells me you don't have the money for my service." I then took my guitar in it's case and left the area. I headed upstairs to check on Danny, seeing if I can find him when my ghost sense went off.

"Oh, boy," I said as I saw Danny entering a room. I quickly ran up to him and took his shoulder, making him look at me with a jump. "Sorry...got my ghost sense triggered, too." Danny nodded then before going further into a room. It had to have been Dash's from the looks of it.

And there we saw Technus taking over Dash's computer with other electronics coming to him through ghostly magic. He was soon a giant robot of technology...the technology Danny sold at the garage sale.

"Good going," I mumbled.

"I am Technus! Master of all this mechanical!" The ghost shouted. "And once I complete my construction, you will succumb to my awesome pow-" He started glitching halfway through his speech, making me question what was going on until I noticed the update disk on Dash's desk.

"What is wrong with me?" Technus asked as I looked over at Danny, seeing he saw the same thing.

"The upgrade," Danny said quietly.

"He still hasn't upgraded the software," I added on, trying to keep my voice down. "Danny, I can't fight if I have my guitar with me!"

"I understand, just get somewhere safe and stay hidden," Danny said before looking at me, his blue eyes meeting my brown ones. "I can't risk losing you." I blushed as I watched him look back at Technus with a determined eye.

"Oh, no," Danny began, changing into his ghost form. "You are not getting that upgrade disk and making yourself more powerful!" Again, I slapped my forehead. And again, I usually do that with Tucker's antics.

"What? Another great idea!" Technus yelled. "The heck with tutoring. You should be a teacher."

"You really need to keep your mouth shut sometimes, Danny," I said as he flew towards Technus, only to have the technical ghost pull up a toaster from his shoulder and shoot some ecto-beams at Danny. They hit him and sent him flying towards the closet door. Thankfully he went intangible and went right through the door.

I quickly raced to the disk and picked it up, but not even a moment later, I was grabbed by one of Technus's cables and was brought up to him. I struggled in them as they had wrapped around my arms and made me drop both my guitar and the disk. That was when Danny flew back out and stopped when he saw that Technus had me.

"You are a formidable opponent," Technus stated as he shoved me in front of him. "But, a little wet behind the ears. Perhaps you could use a little drying off!" Another claw-like cable came out of the dryer on his chest and went towards Danny

"Let her go!" Danny yelled with worry as he got caught by the claw and sucked into the dryer.

"Danny!" I yelled as I struggled more. "Wait a minute..." I quickly changed into my ghost form and flew out of his hold by going intangible.

"What?!" Technus yelled as I punched him in the face and making him release Danny from the dryer.

"Briar, what about-?!"

"It'll be fine," I said as I landed near him since he got shot out and hit the dresser. "Right now, we need to focus on Technus!"

"You're right," Danny said as he flew towards Technus without warning. I turned around and saw Technus picking up the disk. Oh, boy. Thankfully it looked like Danny stopped him from inserting the disk but ramming into him and making him fall into a wall.

But remember how I said it looked like he stopped him...I was wrong.

The disk got inserted by the motion and Technus was now upgraded. This can't be good. I flew in and went intangible with Danny as we flew him outside of Dash's house. However, I did grab my guitar before we left.

I got flown away from Danny as I dropped my guitar in Sam's arms.

Wait...SAM?! TUCKER?!

"Hey, guys," I said with a wince as I tried to sit up when Danny flew in after me, hitting the wall and falling to the ground after saying hi to Sam and Tucker.

"I am Technus! Master of technology and destroyer of worlds!" Technus yelled as I finally stood up from the ground. "Behold my awesome electronic fury! Who's your daddy!?"

"Anthony Winthrope," I said bluntly. "And he's no longer with us." I sighed as I flew up and started to try and attack when I got knock away with one of Technus's hands and hit the wall again. But this time, I notice he got me in the stomach and I was bleeding like crazy.

"Oh, crap," I winced as I grabbed my wound. I watched as Danny tried to fight off Technus himself, as well as trying to get Sam and Tucker's help. But they had their backs to him. Wow, he must have really treated them poorly after getting that invite.

"I'm sorry I chose to hang with the popular kids instead of you guys! It was stupid and shallow and I'll never do it again!" He yelled this all while trying to avoid attacks from Technus. Impressive...until he got hit at the end of it all.

"How can we of assistance?" Sam asked with a smirk.

"He's running an old version of Portals XL!" Danny said I slowly stood up and walked over to them. I was losing energy fast.

"That old vaporware?" Sam asked surprised. "It's the worst software ever!"

"Keep him busy! I think I know how you can beat him!" Tucker said.

"That I can do!" I fell to my knees near Danny, stopping him in his tracks. "Briar!" He knelt before me as I stopped him.

"No, go! Fight! I'll be fine!" I said, shooing him away. He looked at me with worry before nodding and taking off.

"Get back!" Danny yelled. "You hunk of my dad's junk!"

"Wow, that sounds heroic," I said sarcastically as I looked at my hand. Blood was still coming out strong. "Darn it! I didn't even see what he hit me with!"

"Are you okay, Briar?" Sam asked as she knelt before me.

"I'll be fine," I said with a grin. "Or at least I should be. Just go help Danny, Sam." Tucker was already working on doing that.

"Give me that!" I looked up to see Danny had a remote he snatched from Technus and changed himself back to him in his Phantom form. All before a claw grabbed him and pushed him back into a wall.

"Tucker...anytime!" He yelled.

"I'm trying! I'm trying!" Tucker yelled back.

"What's wrong?" Sam asked.

"I'm trying to bypass the program, but I can't!" Tucker answered. "He must have upgraded."

"Indeed he did," I said as Sam helped me up. I looked at my wound again..and it was finally starting to close. "Thank God!" I yelled before flying up to help Danny.

"What do we do?" I heard Sam ask, stopping me so I can listen.

"We need the latest version of Portals XL!" Tucker exclaimed as I heard Technus just hitting Danny against the wall over and over again. "But where are we going to get it at this time of night?!"

"Leave that to me," Sam said as she dialed something on her phone.

"Guys!" Danny called, breaking my trance and making me fly up towards him. I shot one of my blue ecto-rays at the claw, but it just bounced off it.

"Darn it!" I yelled.

"Thanks, Tracey," I heard Sam say, making me look to see a blond girl on a scooter in front of Sam and Tucker. I just shrugged it off and continued trying to help Danny.

"Uh, excuse me?" Sam began, stopping me in my attempts to help Danny and look at her. "I'm Sam. I don't believe I caught your name. Perhaps you should scream it really loud and shout out your motive!"

"Hello," Technus began, "I am Technus! Manipulator of Machines! Lord of all gadgetry! Wizard of integrated circuitry!"

"Go on," Sam stated. "Isn't there more you'd like to tell me?" That's when I noticed she plugged in two different cords together.

"What's going on?" I asked quietly to Danny, who just shrugged slightly.

"Oh, yes! I am also the master of-" Technus started to glitch as he spoke again.

"What's happening!?" Danny called.

"Portals XL is happening!" Tucker answered, making me smile with excitement. "Everybody knows that every new version of Portals XL has a gigantic hole in it's security system."

"What?! NO!" Technus yelled as the claw finally released Danny.

"Yes!" He yelled as he flew up to the claw and grabbed it. I followed suit. "Process this!" Danny and I then flew the claw into the CD drive and caused an error message to appear on Technus's face. Danny flew back some, but some of the sparks got me and I flew back further.

"Dang, what is with me always getting hurt in these battles?" I mumbled.

"You okay?" Danny asked as he flew near me.

"I'm fine," I smiled as I watched Technus shut down.

"And for my final trick!" Tucker said as he pulled out the thermos and threw it to Danny. He caught it and quickly spun towards the robot, opening the cap and started sucking in the ghost. And soon, Technus was closed off in the thermos.

"Finally," I sighed with relief.

"Nice going, Tuck!" Sam said with a smile.

"Don't thank me," Tucker said in return. "Thank lousy software."

I was walking in the hallway with Danny, Sam, and Tucker that Monday at school. We were all smiling and just glad things have gone back to normal somewhat.

"So, what's the damage from this weekend?" Tucker asked.

"Yeah, did you get in trouble for taking your folk's stuff?" I added on.

"Not really," Danny responded. "I hauled it all back to the shed yesterday while they were out. My dad's checking every piece for government surveillance devices."

"Sounds like you got off pretty easily," Sam said with a smirk.

"Well, I do have to return those sweats so I can refund everybody's money," Danny stated. "And I still feel terrible about I treated you guys. Of all people, I should know how it feels to be invisible."

"So, would you say you've learned a lesson from all this?" I asked as I leaned up against the lockers before seeing him look behind him. I followed and saw Dash opening his locker when a bunch of teddy bears fell out of it.

"FENTON!" He yelled.

"Yep," Danny said. "That one person's trash, is another person's revenge."

~THE END – END OF CHAPTER 4~
