Okay guys, this is it! The original episode I've been writing. Now, this was going to be posted somewhere after 'Fright Night' and '13'. But I haven't really had much time to write those ones and this one was already sitting around ready and finished.
It's a musical episode (of course lol) and it's still replacing a different episode called 'Lucky in Love'. Once I have more time, I will go back to writing 'Fright Night'. Until then, I really hope you like this chapter. Also, I know Tucker can't sing. But for the sake of this chapter, just go with it (lol).
I do not own any of the songs in this chapter. They just seemed to have worked out for the idea.
Anyway, here is the musical episode I told you guys about. Here is...'Sleeping Briar'.
Enjoy!
I flew up to the sky quickly, shooting some blue ectoplasmic energy rays at the ghost Danny and I were fighting this evening. The sun hadn't set yet. Sam was by the sidewalk, holding the thermos and waiting for my cue or Danny's to catch the ghost. Though my brain was still reeling because Danny asked me to go to the Homecoming Dance with him in two days. He asked me today at school. Of course, since we're a couple, I said yes. He didn't even need to ask! Though, it was sweet that he still did.
Anyway, back to the fight.
"Get ready, Sam!" I called as I flew passed her.
"I am!" She returned.
"Alright, bub! End of the line!" Danny yelled while I floated next to him.
"Oh, but we're just getting started," The female ghost said. She had green skin and long black hair like the Wicked Witch of the West and wore a black gown with a sweetheart neckline. In her hand seemed to be some kind of scepter. I know this might sound silly, but it almost reminded me of Maleficent's scepter from Sleeping Beauty. I know, call me crazy. But that's what I thought.
"Well, we're ending this!" I yelled, making the ghost look at me and gasp. Why I'm not sure. I'm more concerned with wondering why she didn't react this way to my presence earlier. I've been fighting her this whole time! Then again, I've been fighting her this whole time. She probably is just now getting a good look at me. But I don't know why she'd have this reaction.
"You!" She called as she stared at me. "The Singing Ghost!" I gave her a look of confusion. "Now the spell can be fulfilled." She then shot a stream of black ecto-energy at me from her scepter, hitting me and sending me flying back.
"Stardust!" I heard Danny and Sam yell before I phased through the wall of a building and landed on my back. I groaned as I slowly sat up and stood to my feet. I grumbled a curse under my breath before getting ready to fly back out, only to stop when I saw a spinning wheel on a stage. Why was that there?
"The heck?" I said before I saw a green glow go around it, with the spindle shining the brightest. I would have left, but something was pulling me towards the spinning wheel, making me walk slowly up to it. It was like I was in a trance, unable to break it.
Danny? I tried to telepathically call Danny as I floated up to the stage and landed on my feet. I continued to walk towards the spinning wheel. Danny! Help me! He wasn't answering. He might have gotten knocked out while in battle or was just busy with the battle altogether.
I was in front of the spinning wheel now, staring at the glistening needle before me. I reached my hand out, not of my own free will, and hovered my fingers over the needle. What was going on?
"Touch the spindle," A voice spoke, as I pulled my hand back slightly. "Touch it I say!" And without warning, my hand jerked forward and I pricked my finger on the spindle.
~3RD PERSON POV~
A white ring flew across Amity Park as the sunset, hitting Sam and Danny as they fought the ghost woman. It even hit her, making her smile with wicked excitement as she twirled in the air.
"What just happened?" Danny asked as he fell to the ground, weak.
"I'm not sure," Sam asked as she knelt by his side.
"Now your little city is/under my full control," The ghost sang, making Danny and Sam look up at her with confusion. "Let us see how strong you are/as the day's events just unfold." With that, the ghost made a puff of smoke fly around her before fading away, taking her with it.
"Dang it! She got away," Danny said as he stood up from the ground with Sam's help.
"I'm sure that isn't the last we'll hear from her," Sam said. "Let's go find Briar and head home."
"Oh, crap! Briar!" Danny went to go fly off when he saw a girl flying in the sky towards Briar's house. "Oh, she's alright. Briar!" Sam looked up and immediately thought something was off. Briar would have come back to them after a blow like that. "You okay?!" 'Briar' looked down to him and held a thumbs up to him, before flying off again.
"Okay! See you tomorrow!"
"Danny, I'm not-"
"Relax, Sam," Danny interrupted. "Briar's fine. She's probably just really tired from this battle that she wanted to head straight home! I'm sure of it." Sam gave Danny a look, worry still on her face for Briar. But she decided to trust Danny and nod with agreement, before they headed home for the night.
The following day, for the most part, seemed like any other day. Danny woke up, ate breakfast, and left the house to go pick up Briar across the street. He knocked on the door and Mrs. Iris Winthrope answered with a smile.
"Danny! Hi!" She greeted cheerfully.
"Hi, Mrs. Winthrope," Danny said. "Is Briar ready to head to school?"
"Oh, I'm sorry, dear. But you just missed her," Mrs. Winthrope said. "She's already at school."
"Oh! Okay, thanks. I'll see her there than," Danny said, a little hurt in his voice as Mrs. Winthrope smiled at him. "I'll see you later."
"See you later, Danny." And with that, Danny walked away as Mrs. Winthrope closed the door behind him.
"Briar...Briar..." Danny sang, stopping himself in his tracks. "The heck!" He immediately looked around before changing into his ghost form and flying towards Sam's place. She'd be the only other person who would know what was going on.
(SONG: "Powerful Magic" – Once Upon A Time: Musical Episode) [Lyric change]
Little bluebirds flew up to Sam's windowsill, perching themselves there as the goth came out of her closet, dressed and ready for the day. She smiled at the birds as they chirped to her.
SAM: Good morning, friends!/Oh, my dear/there's something wrong./Cause all my words/are coming out in song./A rhythm stirs/deep inside my soul./I'm saying things in ways I can't control!
DANNY: Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ahhh! (Flies in as his ghost self, making the birds fly away) What's going on?/Someone cast a spell or curse/cause what I say/is coming out in verse./My voice just sores/had no idea it could./Now I'm singing out/and my do I sound/GOOD!
SAM: (Giggles)
DANNY: What could be the reason?
SAM: I think I know, Danny/it's all because that ghost we fought with you, Briar, and me./But with music in our hearts/we could stop this evil queen...
DANNY: How?
SAM: Cause friendship expressed through song/is a weapon that this ghost has never seen.
Just like that, Danny smiled as he took Sam and they flew out of her room and landed on the sidewalk outside of her house. Danny changed back to his human form.
DANNY and SAM: There's a powerful magic when six hearts are one/a powerful magic bright as the sun.
DANNY: Goodness will triumph and evil's undone/when you dare to heed a friend's call!
DANNY and SAM: Cause friendship's the most/powerful magic of all.
They quickly started running to the school, hoping for this nightmare of a musical to end soon.
DANNY and SAM: It's a powerful magic when six voices sore
SAM: I'm ever more hopeful for what lies in store
DANNY: Nothing will stop us/no not anymore./Watch this curse she set fall through!
DANNY and SAM: That is what friends and their powerful magic will do./Feel the song inside our hearts/that is where the magic starts.
SAM: Oh, it grows with every note!
DANNY: Soaring sweetly from my throat.
SAM: Every line ends with a rhyme
DANNY and SAM: Don't know how/but it's sublime./With a melody so strong/how can we go wrong!?/With our powerful magic/we now have the means./Cause friendship can cure even potions and beans./And the unhappy ending/let that be the queen's/with our city's fate at stake/seems we found a lucky break!/Now let this song show the powerful magic…WE CAN MAKE!
(End of the song)
After a while, they finally made it to the school driveway, with Sam just looking disgusted as they stopped running.
"Is it over? Am I singing or rhyming?" She asked as she looked at Danny, making him chuckle.
"No, Sam. You're good. And yeah, I think it's over."
"Thank God!" She yelled. "If I have to sing about friendship again, I'm-!"
"Guys!" Danny and Sam looked over to see Tucker running up with Robin and Edwin following behind him. "What's going on?! I've been having music in my head all morning!"
"That's normal!" Robin exclaimed like she had been trying to tell him this all morning.
"What song?" Danny asked.
"Some song about how friendship is a powerful magic and whatnot," Tucker answered, making Sam perk up.
"We just sang a song like that!" She exclaimed, calming Robin down as she perked up, too.
"What?" Edwin spoke with surprise.
"Is it still in your head?" Sam asked.
"No, actually," Tucker returned. "It went away the moment you guys showed up."
"What's going on?" Robin asked before noticing something. "And where's Briar? I thought she would be coming to school with you, Danny."
"I thought so, too. But her mom said she came early," Danny answered, only to grow concerned when he saw the redhead's face show the same amount of worry. "What?"
"Danny...Briar never showed up."
"What?!" Danny yelled.
"Whoa, calm down," Tucker said. "I'm sure she's around here somewhere. We just have to find her."
"How? The city is so big!" Edwin yelled. "Could that Vlad guy have kidnapped her or something?"
"I doubt that," Sam said before seeing Danny's worried face. "Unless he would stoop that low."
"He just might," Danny said with a sigh. "Come on. We'll see if we can find her as the day goes on."
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," A voice spoke, making Danny's ghost sense go off before he spun around with Sam. There, floating in the air, was the ghost from the night prior. "Mainly because you don't have much time."
"You!" Danny yelled as he changed into his ghost form and took to the sky. "What did you do?! Who even are you?!"
"The name is Fantasma Mystique, musical theater extraordinaire. And isn't today wonderful!?" Fantasma exclaimed. "A musical can always lift the spirits, you know."
"How were you able to make today be a full musical?!" Robin yelled with fear.
"Oh, just a simple prick of a princess's finger did the trick," Fantasma winked at Danny, which made his eyes widen in shock.
"No," He started, "you didn't!"
"Oh, but I did," Fantasma said sinisterly. "She is in a deep sleep right now, as we speak."
"Oh, no," Sam stated. "She got Briar!"
Danny! Danny perked up at the telepathic message, making him grin with relief. I'm okay, but you need to save the town from Fantasma's reign and find me! I'll do my best to help in any way I can, but I'm not sure how helpful it'll be!
As long as you're safe, it'll be fine, Danny countered to her.
(SONG: "Charmings VS. Evil Queen" – Once Upon a Time: Musical Episode) [Lyric change]
Danny shot an ecto-ray at Fantasma, hitting her and making her back up some in the air.
DANNY and BRIAR'S VOICE: There's a powerful magic when two hearts are one./A powerful magic bright as the sun./Goodness will triumph and evil's undone/when you dare to heed love's call!/Cause love is the most/powerful magic of all.
FANTASMA: (Giggles evilly, shooting back, but DANNY dodges it) Down with love/down with hope/don't need blind faith to cope/or inspiring songs in my heart./Got the magic I need/for my darkest of deeds/love at times can entrance but/love doesn't stand a chance./No, no/love doesn't stand a...
DANNY and BRIAR'S VOICE: It's a powerful magic when two voices sore./We're ever more hopeful for what lies in store...
FANTASMA: Once I've loved/and once I've learned/love is weakness/love will leave you burned!
DANNY and BRIAR'S VOICE: Nothing will stop us/no not anymore./With our city's fate at stake/(FANTASMA: Happy endings/you will see)/seems we found a lucky break/(FANTASMA: Your happy end will end with me!)/Now let our love show the powerful magic/(FANTASMA: Love/doesn't stand/a chance...)/WE CAN MAKE!
Fantasma shot a stream of black ectoplasmic energy out of her hand, hitting Danny and sending him flying into a tree. "Briar, you okay?" He asked, but didn't get a response. "Briar?!"
FANTASMA: Now it seems you're in the dust/oh, you must feel heartbroken./The only way to rid this curse/if you find the girl unspoken.
At that moment, Fantasma disappeared from Danny's sight, leaving him behind as he grew angrier.
"WHERE IS SHE?! TELL ME WHERE SHE IS!" Danny screamed as he stood up from the ground while hearing Fantasma's laugh echoing through the air.
"You have until midnight to find her. Or else...she's dead."
(End of the song)
"NO!" Danny yelled as he fell to his knees in worry.
"Oh, no," Sam said with a hand to her mouth while Robin looked to have wanted to cry. Tucker pulled her in for a hug to comfort her while Edwin just stood there shocked.
"What now?" Edwin asked as Danny stood up and changed back to his human form.
"We find her," Sam said. "That's what we have to do in order to save the town, save Briar from death, and to stop that ghost's reign!"
"But how?! We have no idea where Briar is?!" Tucker exclaimed.
"We just have to look," Robin said as she wiped away a tear. "We can find her."
"Briar, don't worry," Danny said, making the four of them look over at him. "Whatever it takes...I'll find you."
Briar sat up with a start and looked around, wondering where she was as she stood up. It was a dark abyss with just a single spotlight above her. It wasn't bright and didn't hurt her eyes. So it didn't seem to have bothered her as much as not knowing where she was.
She saw that she was still in her ghost form but there was a small difference: a long hip cape (I guess that's what you call it?) was hanging from her waist, with the front opened to show her hazmat suit's pants, and her boots were now high heels. If she wasn't scared right now, she would have thought this new look was cool.
She looked for a way out, knowing she needed to go help Danny with this new ghost attack. But that's when she noticed where she was by an image forming in front of her. All she saw was a stage and her laying in a bed upon that stage. But she knew exactly where she was.
"What's going on?" Briar asked out loud before seeing the image change to the battle with Fantasma Mystique, a ghost set on theatrical performances. She watched through her own eyes, seeing that she went into a trance once she entered the room and pricked her finger like Sleeping Beauty on the spindle of a spinning wheel…and then nothing.
"Great," She sighed. "My friends are probably worried sick about me." Her eyes changed to that of worry as she thought of Danny. "And Danny has to be a basket case right now. I just hope he finds me soon."
An image then appeared before her. It was of her and her father together on the roof of their old Amity Park house, when she was just 4-years-old.
(SONG: "A Million Dreams" REPRISE – The Greatest Showman)
She remembered this day as telling her father her dreams of the future, and how she wanted to be a singer. She told him how she wanted to perform on stage with her original songs and to be an inspiration for young girls like herself.
BRIAR (4): Every night I lie in bed/the brightest colors fill my head/a million dreams are keeping me awake.
BRIAR (4) and BRIAR (14): I think of what the world could be/the vision of the one I see/a million dreams is all it's gonna take.
ANTHONY: A million dreams/for the world you're gonna make.
BRIAR (4): I love you, daddy!
ANTHONY: I love you, too, Briar.
(SONG: "The Next Right Thing" – Frozen 2)
A tear fell down Briar's cheek, as those moments with her father faded away from her sight and left her with her grief and sorrow. Grief that her father couldn't help her physically in this time of need. And sorrow because she let this happen. She let herself get in that trance and has made this curse fall upon her.
BRIAR: I've seen dark before/but not like this./This is cold/this is empty/this is numb./The life I knew is over/the lights are out./Hello darkness/I'm ready to succumb./I followed you around/I always had/but you've gone to a place I cannot find./This grief/has a gravity/it pulls me down...
"Briar!" A distant voice spoke up, making Briar spin around to see the image of Danny helping her when Desiree attacked.
BRIAR: But a tiny voice/whispers in my mind./"You are lost/hope is gone/but you must/go on/and do the next right thing."
That image soon faded and was replaced with another of her and her father when she was 10, a month before the accident. They were playing with some of Briar's instruments and she was singing a song she wrote called "Rainbow". The mind of a little kid.
BRIAR: Can there be a day/beyond this night?/I don't know anymore what is true./I can't find my direction/I'm all alone./The only star that guided me was you.
The image then changed again to show the tombstone of Anthony Winthrope, with Briar standing beside it crying.
BRIAR: How to rise from the floor/when it's not you/I'm rising for./Just do the next right thing./Take a step/step again./It is all that I can/to do/the next/right/thing.
The image then changed to her wedding day, one that she had imagined for quite some time while seeing Mr. Fenton walking her down the aisle to Danny. But she shot that image away with her ecto-ray. She wanted to think of that, but not at this moment.
BRIAR: I won't look to far ahead/it's too much for me to take./But break it down to this next breath/this next step/this next choice/is one that I can make!
The image came back of Briar as Stardust, flying through Amity Park with Danny, smiling and laughing the whole time. He had reached out his hand and took hers, stopping them both and pulling her in for a sweet and loving kiss.
BRIAR: So I'll walk through this night/stumbling, blindly toward the light/and do the next right thing./And with the dawn/what comes then/when it's clear/that everything will never be the same again!
The image changed to the one of her and her father on the roof again, smiling and laughing as her 4-year-old self looked to be singing.
BRIAR: Then I'll make the choice/to hear your voice/and do/the next..right...thing.
(End of the song)
Briar fell to her knees and let the tears consume her, all while the image faded away. Her life was different. She was a half-ghost and her father was gone. And all because Vlad Masters had to go and hit them with his limo. She wished she would have killed him when she first found out. But that wouldn't have been so heroic or Christian of her. But still just knowing he's the reason for this pain, was enough for her to keep moving.
She stood up and wiped her tears away as another image appeared before her. It was of Danny, in class, not paying attention. And beside him was her empty seat.
"Don't worry, Danny," She said with a grin. "I believe in you."
It was now lunchtime and Danny was looking even worse than earlier. Edwin, Tucker, Robin, and Sam noticed as he was playing with his food.
"Danny, we'll find her," Sam said. "No need to mope."
"But what if we don't find her in time?" Danny spoke. "What if we're too late?"
"We won't be," Robin said as she pulled out a piece of paper from her pocket. She unfolded it and showed it to her friends. "We're going to start searching after lunch." She checked her watch and went back to her explanation. "It's 1:30 now. If we start here, we might find her before midnight."
"But where should we start looking?" Tucker asked as he looked at the paper. "And what is this?!"
"The list of what Briar loves! She loves learning and music. She also likes to help the teachers when she can," Robin declared.
"Sounds like Briar," Danny scoffed, grinning at the thought of Briar doing something like that.
"But there are so many different classrooms in this school! Where should we start?" Edwin asked.
"Hmm," Robin thought for a moment. "Maybe we could split up? Cover more ground that way?"
"Anything to save Briar," Danny said. "I can go ghost and search campus. She has to be somewhere in this school!"
"Or maybe she's not even in the school," Sam said. "She might be somewhere else in town."
"Then, Danny," Robin looked around and whispered what she was going to say. "You'll have to leave school before it ends to look anywhere else. You cool with that?"
"Of course!" Danny exclaimed as the bell rang.
"Alright, guys," Sam said as she tossed her trash away. "Let's go find Briar."
Fantasma watched from her cloud as the day went on, seeing time go by like the wind. She could also see Briar still in her deep sleep from where she was sitting.
"All is according to plan," She said as she stood up from the cloud and floated down to the football field of Casper High. She walked along the grass before she sat on one of the bleachers, watching invisibly as some of the football players worked on their play.
One boy, however, with blond hair and blue eyes caught Fantasma's attention. He was laughing at something his friends said which made her blood boil. His laugh. It sounded so familiar and yet different.
"That wretch!" She screamed as she flew away and went into the music room of the school. She was alone, and the lights were off. "Why do I even still care?" She spoke as she crossed her arms.
(SONG: "Wicked Always Wins" - Once Upon A Time: Musical Episode) [Lyric change]
"It was years ago since that fire "mysteriously" happened. Ember didn't know what hit her."
FANTASMA: Finally that moment I was hoping had come/the moment he would realize he chose the wrong one/there wasn't any curse I could cast to match that feeling./The pain I knew when father turned his back on my heart/at last will be poor Ember's when her life falls apart/suddenly the future's looking more appealing./Once I was filled with rage/now I'll enjoy the ride./It's so electrifying/watching all her dreams denied./Oh, I/will fly into tomorrow/my sister full of sorrow/finally paying for her sins./I'll smile/all the while she is crying/inside she's slowly dying/learning wicked always/wins./Oh, evil may be powerful/but wicked always wins!
Fantasma smirked as she flew out of the music room and up to the roof, standing there as she twirled in place.
FANTASMA: If Em could see me now/she would ache with regret/cause she'd witness all the glory wickedness gets/she went and changed his heart for her/and my blood boiled./But that's all history/time they all understood/what they call "green with envy"/I just call "looking good"./Oh, I/will fly into tomorrow/my sister full of sorrow/finally paying for her sins./No strife/her life was so enchanted/she took it all for granted/now she'll dream of could have/beens!/Oh evil may be powerful/but wicked always...If only Ember thought to do this once before. Oh, wait...she did and failed. I snuck into the real world and finally took Stardust down./And now I'll stand victorious/as I stay right here in town./Once she hears of this spell of mine/oh, Ember, you will see/he should have chosen me!/So, I/will fly into tomorrow/delighting in her sorrow/as a better day begins./This time/nobody's gonna stop me/no pop star's gonna haunt me/oh, wicked always/wins./Their happy ending will be mine/cause wicked always/WINS!
(End of the song)
After a long while of looking, Sam decided to take a break. She thought that maybe she could meet up with her friends now to come up with a better plan since she was getting texts from each and every one of them. Danny wasn't having much luck out in the city. Tucker struck out with any of the teachers. And Edwin and Robin failed to find her in the girl's locker room.
So, Sam found her way to the music room and walked in, seeing Tucker, Edwin, and Robin all taking a break as well. Edwin was at the piano, pressing some keys while Tucker and Robin were sitting in the chairs, with Tucker's arm behind Robin.
Danny wasn't here yet, meaning he was most likely still looking. He was desperate to find her and Sam didn't blame him. She could tell he was in love with her.
But what she did see was that Robin and Tucker seemed to be all cozy sitting together. She looked at them in surprise. "When did this happen?" She asked as she pointed to them. Robin just blushed as Tucker rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand.
"A few days ago, actually," He said nervously.
"Well, I'm happy for you two!" Sam exclaimed, making Edwin grin from the piano. Robin just smiled at Sam with excitement.
"Thanks, Sam," She said. "I couldn't be happier."
"I just feel bad for Danny," Tucker sighed, dropping his hand from behind his neck to his lap again. "Briar is still missing and we've looked everywhere!"
"Her mom keeps saying she's here at school, but school ended hours ago!" Robin exclaimed, checking her watch for the time. "It's 6 o'clock now. We're running low on time."
"I'm sure we'll find her," Sam said as she walked over and sat next to Edwin at the piano. "We just, need to figure out where to look."
"You know what," Edwin spoke up, gaining the other three's attention. "Let's relax. It's only 6 like Robin said. We have 6 hours before midnight. I have faith that we'll find Briar before the carriage becomes a pumpkin." Sam grinned at him as she blushed.
"I couldn't agree more," She spoke before looking down at her hands. Edwin then felt a song in his heart, sighing in defeat as his hands moved on their own. Though, he did hesitate to play the music of this song. But maybe he could finally tell Sam how he felt.
So, he played it.
(SONG: "(When you're) Making up a Song" – Psych: The Musical) [Lyric change]
EDWIN: Sam, you're such/a pretty girl./And sweet girls love to sing./And please when I say you make my day/do you feel the same thing?
SAM: (Blushes and giggles)
EDWIN: Not a songwriter. When you're making up a song/the words you improvise are never wrong./Just jam as many syllables you can before the break./You literally cannot make a mistake.
SAM: (Giggles) Cute.
EDWIN: (Groans with disgust as he continues to play the piano)
SAM: (Giggles again) When you're looking for a friend/someone who/will be there till the very end./I would like to think that I've found that with you./So I'll say/that I feel the same.
EDWIN: They say it might atone/for that old dance we've done/it's time we said the truth to the other./Now I'm finally free/well, figuratively...
ROBIN: Does this mean what I think that/it means?
EDWIN: We'll see
SAM: Most definitely
EDWIN: I'm happy
ROBIN: This is so exciting! AH!
TUCKER: When you're making up a code/you can do anything you like (A honk comes from his PDA) except for that.
ROBIN: (Giggles)
SAM: (Rolls eyes)
EDWIN: No you never/no you never can go wrong/now now
SAM and EDWIN: Nothing can go wrong!
EDWIN: When you're making up a song.
Edwin continued to play the final part of the music before hitting the final note, and Sam pulled him over for a kiss.
(End of the song)
Once they pulled away, Edwin was blushing slightly while Sam just giggled. Robin was squealing while Tucker chuckled.
"Welp...that happened!" He yelled, making Sam and Edwin look at him and laugh.
"Guys," Everyone looked over to the door, seeing Danny standing there with bloodshot eyes and exhaustion painted on his face. He was in his human form again.
"Oh, my! Danny!" Robin quickly raced over to him and guided him to a chair, setting him down and handing him her spare water bottle. "Are you okay?"
"No," He said bluntly, nodding as a thank you for the water before taking a swig. "I've searched everywhere! I can't find her!"
"She has to be around here somewhere, Danny!" Sam said. "It's not like she's back in Ohio or something!" Danny perked at that thought, more worry entering his already worried eyes. "She's not back in Ohio! Her mom is still here in Amity Park!"
"Yeah, dude. Chill," Tucker said. "We'll find her."
"But it's getting closer to midnight!" Danny yelled as he sat there, worried, and tired.
(SONG: "I'd Give Anything" – Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure) [Lyric change + pretend it's a boy singing]
"I can't lose her."
Danny's friends stared at him with their own worry as he sat forward in his chair.
DANNY: I know you've gone missing/it breaks my heart in two./You are my sun at night/when it's only me and you./I won't pretend to think that none of this real/cause I'd give anything for you./Yes, I'd give anything to relive/everything with you./Now I need to find the shore I know you've washed upon/and though you're not here with me/I feel you standing there./I'll be your sacrifice/I'll pay the price that's due./Cause I'd give anything for you./Yes, I'd give anything to relive/everything we knew!/Yes, I'd give anything…for you.
(End of the song)
At that moment, Danny's ghost sense went off, making him stand up and spin around. And there she was, Fantasma, standing by the doorway.
"Aw, how sweet," She said mockingly. "I could tear up...but I won't."
"Where's my girlfriend?!" Danny demanded as he changed into his ghost form. "Where is she?!"
"Oh, if you can't figure it out by now," Fantasma began, "then she must not deserve you."
"Enough with this game you're playing!" Sam yelled. "Tell us where she is!"
"Oh, but this is fun!" Fantasma squealed as she was shot in the chest by one of Danny's ecto-rays. She flew out of the room and into the hallway of the school, making Danny fly after her with anger in his eyes. He may have been exhausted, but he didn't care. He was going to find Briar.
And the adrenaline fueled him enough to fight.
(SONG: "Sleeping Beauty" – Traci Hines)
Someone running around made Briar perk up and spin to the sound. But no one was there. It came again, making her spin around once more. Again, no one. Something was going on here, and it was making Briar feel very, very uneasy.
"What's going on?" She finally asked.
"I don't know," A voice spoke. "You tell me." Briar spun around one last time, and this time, she saw a boy of 14 with teal green skin, red eyes, and his white hair was defying gravity. He looked like Danny almost, but eviler. He even had the same hazmat suit on as Danny's ghost form.
BRIAR: Something moves/in the shadows/something lurks/at the door/and the fear/I feel surrounded/knocked my courage/to the floor.
The boy was then right in Briar's face, practically making her jump back some. And she would have if he hadn't already wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close to him.
BRIAR: Someone stalks/it's getting closer/something stirs/in my soul/something tugs/at my heartstrings/and I try/to gain control.
Almost immediately, a dance ensued. It was like a ballroom dance, the waltz to be specific, and Briar couldn't help but follow the boy's lead.
BRIAR: There's a beast just 'round the corner/someone I've never seen./But he's quietly familiar/like a drum entrancing./His darkness like a cloud/I am just outside his reach./I don't know why he wants me/but he's so enticing./Wake/me/I'm giving all I have but you can't/see/me/locked in this cage/fighting silently/here's the moment/you can try to wake/me/up/spiral down and wake/me/up./Animate me/wake me/wake me up!
The boy twirled Briar away, which in turn, made her stop in the arms of another boy. But she knew who this one was instantly.
"Danny?" She spoke as she stared into his blue eyes. He wasn't in his ghost form, surprisingly. But his smile lit up his face nonetheless. After a while, she and Danny started to dance as well.
BRIAR: Are you sure/that we're strangers?/Or have/we met before?/And this dream/it feels so familiar/is this déja vú or more?/I can't move/but I can feel them/like their both/inside my mind./One is pure/heart full of honor./And the other/so undefined.
Danny smiled at Briar as he twirled her out and back into his arms. Briar couldn't help but smile back. Even in this deep dream state, she still got the butterflies and the electricity from Danny's touch. This had have meant that he was the one...right?
BRIAR: There's a prince just 'round the corner/someone I think I've seen./And he's quietly familiar/like someone out of a dream./His goodness like a light/I am just outside his reach./I don't know why he wants me/but he's so inviting./Wake/me/I'm giving all I have but you can't/see/me/locked in this cage/fighting silently/here's the moment/you can try to wake/me/up/spiral down and wake/me/up./Animate me/wake me/wake me up!
With another twirl from Danny, she found herself stopping in the center, staring at both boys now. The monster and Danny. Now she really didn't know what was going on.
BRIAR: In my waking/I could tell you/all that's in my heart./If you weren't so late/maybe we'd never be apart./If I were awake/I'd show you all I've ever known./So wake me/wake me/from this nightmare (Looks at DANNY) Wake me/take me...home.
Just then, both boys disappeared and Danny reappeared before her again. He took her hand and they continued to dance. Her heart and mind agreed for once that this boy was the one to choose.
BRIAR: Wake/me/I'm giving all I have but you can't/see/me/locked in this cage/fighting silently/here's the moment/you can try to wake/me/up/spiral down and wake/me/up./Animate me/wake me/wake me up!
After a while, they stopped dancing and Danny just held Briar in his arms. Her head was in his chest, letting the fear consume her as she felt trapped, while Danny placed a kiss on the top of her head. Only he was her escape. Only he was the love she wanted at this moment.
BRIAR: And maybe somehow/you can break this spell I've fallen under./Maybe somehow...
Then Danny disappeared.
(End of the song)
"Please, Danny," She spoke with tears falling down her cheek. "Please find me and wake me up."
"DANNY!" Briar spun around to the sound of someone calling his name. It was Sam! She was seeing the image of Danny and Fantasma fighting each other for the last time. And from the looks of it, Danny wasn't fairing well. She could also see the time on the clock in the background behind Fantasma. It was already 11:49. She didn't have much time before it was too late. It also didn't seem like they were at Casper High anymore. They were in the streets further down the line, farther away from the school and by the clock tower.
How could Danny not know where she could be?
"Oh, wait," Briar facepalmed herself for her own stupidity. "I never mentioned my love for musicals to them. That makes sense." She sighed as she looked down, noticing her ghostly microphone in her hand. It glistened in the darkness that surrounded the area, making it seem more magical than ever before.
"Wait a minute," She thought for a moment. She knew she had to help Danny with this battle so neither one of them would die. But she was in a deep sleep thanks to Fantasma. There was no way she could wake herself up and help! But, if she couldn't be there physically, then maybe...
She looked back at the image, seeing it on Sam as she was hiding. Edwin and the others must have been somewhere else, continuing the search for her. But this was good. That meant Briar could do what she needed to do. She closed her eyes and let a white glow surround her as the microphone floated up from her hand. It had the same white glow around it as Briar had around her. She started to hum to herself, making the microphone disappear.
Briar opened her eyes after a while, seeing that what she was trying to do had worked. The microphone was on the ground behind Sam. Now, all she had to do was get Sam's attention.
"Sam!"
"Sam!" The goth girl perked up at the voice, turning her head to see Briar's ghostly microphone on the ground. "Sam, can you hear me?!"
"Briar?" She raced over to the microphone and picked it up, immediately feeling something, or someone, crawling into her brain.
"I need your help."
Danny was hit by one of Fantasma's blasts and was flown back into the wall. He was taking a serious beating and felt this fight was going nowhere fast. It was already 11:53. He had seven minutes before Briar's deep sleep became permanent. But he still had no idea where she was located.
"Looks like you're too stupid enough to have a princess as your girlfriend," Fantasma yelled. "It's time you let nature take its course."
"Think again, Fantasma!" A voice rose up, making the theater ghost and Danny look over to see Sam standing there with Briar's microphone in her hand. But instead of the purple eyes that Danny knew Sam to own, she had neon icy blue ones. "Just because I'm in a deep sleep, doesn't mean I can't use my powers!"
That wasn't Sam's voice.
"Briar?" Danny spoke with surprise and excitement. This had to mean she was okay.
"What?! How?!" Fantasma yelled with surprise.
(SONG: "Emma's Theme" – Once Upon A Time: Musical Episode) [Lyric change]
"Let's just say I'm more powerful than you thought," Sam then held the microphone to her mouth and started humming a tune with Briar's voice. With that, a swirl of blue and white energy with stars started to float around the area, as well as around Sam.
BRIAR/SAM: Once I lived in darkness/out there on my own./Left to brave the world/alone./Everything seemed hopeless/no chance to break free./Couldn't hear the song inside/of ME!
A blast of blue energy came from the bottom of the microphone and shot towards Fantasma. It hit her and sent her out of the sky as she landed on her back.
BRIAR/SAM: Once upon a time a song inspired him/"be brave"/he gave his life because my fate was as the one to save/this town from your dark magic and the wicked things you do./Now I found the song that's in my heart/more powerful than you!
Fantasma was getting weaker by each note. How was the one thing that kept her alive starting to tear her down?! "NO!"
BRIAR/SAM: All the years of running/no, not anymore./I know what I'm living for./I'm no longer searching/turns out all along/the answer was inside me/WITH A SONG!
Another blast of blue energy hit Fantasma, knocking her out completely as Danny quickly grabbed the thermos. He uncapped it and sucked up the theater ghost right as the music ended.
(End of the song)
Sam fell to the ground, looking weak and powerless, which made Danny rush up to her and fall beside her.
"Briar, are you still there?" He asked, making Sam look up with those blue eyes of Briar's ghost form still glowing.
"I don't have much time, Danny," She spoke. "It's almost midnight."
"Where are you?! I'll fly right over and save you!" Danny yelled, making Briar giggle in Sam's body before falling into Danny's arms.
"Casper High Theater," She said. "Hurry!" And then Sam's eyes were back to violet.
Danny just looked dumbfounded and felt like an idiot immediately after hearing where she was. "How did I not look there?!" He yelled with surprise.
"Sam!" Edwin yelled as he raced over and Danny placed her in his arms. "Go! Save Briar!"
Danny flew away at a quick speed, dodging poles and buildings as he made it back to Casper High. He flew through the walls and looked everywhere for the theater. He looked at a clock.
11:58. 2 minutes!
He raced further into the school and found the double doors to the theater. He pushed them open quickly and there, on a bed up onstage, was Briar in her ghost form. Her eyes were still closed from being in her deep sleep state while wearing a black gown with a silver tiara on her head. She looked peaceful and almost like a fairytale princess as she laid there.
"Briar!" He called as he flew over to her and stood there. "Briar, can you hear me?!" He tried to see if his voice would wake her up, but it didn't. He took her hand in his, holding it with worry. "Briar, please, answer me!"
11:59. 1 minute.
Danny moved a piece of Briar's ghost form white hair out of her face and stared at her. "What should I do? Please, tell me!"
Just kiss me, you big dork, Danny perked up at the telepathic message from Briar. She was still there. But who knew for how long?! So he quickly obeyed and leaned forward, planting a sweet kiss to her lips. A white ring of light shot out from this gesture right as the clock struck midnight. The light spread throughout Amity Park, and the curse that was placed on Briar was broken.
The kiss lasted for a while, as Danny just savored the electricity that was going up his spine and releasing fireworks in his mind. She was the one...but he wasn't sure if this worked.
He pulled away after a moment longer, all while Briar opened her eyes at the same time. She smiled at him as she placed a hand on his cheek, with him placing his hand over hers.
"I knew you'd find me," She said, making Danny smile as he pulled her up and hugged her, letting all his worry and fear get consumed with this one action. She returned it.
"I was so worried," He said, tightening their embrace. "I thought I'd never find you." Briar just giggled as they pulled away from their hug, but stayed in each other's arms.
"But I'm alright, Danny," She said. "We're together again. I'm here in your arms." Danny grinned as he picked her up bridal style and she wrapped her arms around his neck. He then took to the sky and they flew back to their friends.
~BRIAR'S POV~
Can I just say this real quick? It felt so good to be awake again! And it felt nice knowing that Danny was indeed my one and only true love. I had doubts that maybe true love felt differently and that maybe Danny really wasn't the one. But after he kissed me awake like in one of those fairytales, I knew immediately that he was indeed the one and that this was true love.
But I still couldn't get that monstrous boy out of my mind. He looked a lot like Danny, but different. He even had this new logo on his chest that Danny didn't have. He didn't seem nice and something told me this wouldn't be the only time I ever saw him.
But I pushed that aside for the time being. Right now, was more important and I wasn't going to let that odd monster get to me like that.
It was the Homecoming Dance tonight and I was getting ready for it when I heard the doorbell ring. I looked out my window to see that Danny was here, in his tuxedo with a blue tie. He's early!
I quickly threw on my heels and put on my new dress. This one was a gown like the white one I own, but instead of white with blue sparkles, it was black with white sparkles and strapless.
I applied a light coat of red lip gloss and put my locket back on around my neck. I grabbed my purse and walked down the stairs, seeing my mom flash a picture of me with her camera.
"Mom," I said with a giggle.
"You just look so beautiful, Briar," She said. "Just like a princess."
"I couldn't agree more," I looked over at Danny, seeing his blushing face as he was smiling at me. I smiled back as I took the final step down and walked up to him. "You look beautiful."
"Thanks," I said. "You don't look too bad yourself."
"Picture!" Mom yelled, making me giggle as I turned around and felt Danny put his arm around my waist. I put my right hand on his shoulder and smiled at the camera with him, right before my mom clicked the photo.
We walked up to the school and entered the gymnasium. Everyone was dancing and having a good time as the poll for Homecoming King and Queen was being voted on. Pictures were being taken and the DJ was playing some really cool music.
"Finally...some fun," I breathed as I felt Danny pull me close.
(SONG: "A Happy Beginning" – Once Upon A Time: Musical Episode)
I looked at him and smiled as we shared a short but sweet kiss with each other.
"I love you, Briar," He said, making me feel those fireworks again.
"I love you, too, Danny." I returned.
BRIAR: Tomorrow is uncertain/who knows what it will bring?
DANNY: But one thing is for sure, love/with you I have everything.
DANNY and BRIAR: And happily ever after/is the way these stories go.
BRIAR: Used to think that's what I wanted/but now I finally know./There's no storm we can't outrun
DANNY: We will always find the sun
DANNY and BRIAR: Leave the past and all its scars./A happy beginning now is ours.
SAM: Let's celebrate together/a long time wish come true.
EDWIN: What makes it even better/today our story starts anew.
ROBIN: Let villains cast their curses
SAM and ROBIN: We can overcome them all.
ROBIN: If we all stand strong together
TUCKER: There's no way we can fall.
EVERYONE: There's no storm we can't outrun/we will always find the sun/leave the past and all its scars./A happy beginning now is ours!/We can face the endless night/take my hand and join the fight/passed the clouds, we'll find the stars./A happy beginning now is ours!
After a while, Mr. Lancer went up to the podium and announced this year's Homecoming King and Queen. And to my surprise, Danny and I won! Paulina didn't seem too happy about that, but I didn't care. As Mr. Lancer placed the tiara on my head, I got a flash of a different life, where a girl was bowed down to receive her crown...like how I was right now.
EVERYONE: There's no storm we can't outrun/we will always find the sun/leave the past and all its scars./A happy beginning now is ours!/We can face the endless night/take my hand and join the fight/passed the clouds, we'll find the stars./A happy beginning now is ours!/A happy beginning is ours!
I stood up straight with the tiara on my head and thought of it for a moment. Who was that girl in that vision just now? I was soon brought back, however, by Danny handing me the bouquet of flowers with a smile. At this point, I wasn't going to fret over it. I was going to enjoy being the queen to my king and nothing, not even the Box Ghost, was going to change that.
(End of the song)
~THE END – END OF CHAPTER 10~
