Chapter 3: Getting to know the Neighbors

Gouhin taught Legoshi for centuries to millennia on end on what it means to be a destroyer. Legoshi learned how to truly tap into his divinity, which grants him longevity and self-sustainment as he did not need to breath in order to live, allowing for indefinite space travel. Through the training and refinement of an angel's guidance, Legoshi learned to what types of martial arts he preferred and best suited him while adding his own twist to make himself less predictable in combat.
Unlike other angels, who tend to take care of tedious chores and duties for their destroyers like cooking and cleaning, Gouhin wanted Legoshi to be self-sufficient so that he would not fall into lazy or over dependent tendencies. Gouhin also believes that instilling the skills to maintain oneself and their home is a good way to keep Legoshi's mind from developing perversions or unproductive tendencies due to the effects that stagnation and longevity can have on the mind, especially one that was once mortal.
8000 years later:
It was an uneventful day as it seemed like the universe was taking a breather from having disasters of life that required culling, much to Legoshi's relief as he didn't have to contemplate on moral ambiguities of his work. Despite the relatively short time as a destroy, Legoshi had done a surprisingly good job at trimming the metaphorical fat from the universe. While most of his destruction stayed to gas giants and uninhabitable planets, he did destroy large scales of life as well, though these cases mostly were mercy killings of civilization slowly dying from self-inflicted wounds or forces outside their control, and parasitic life. Legoshi was in the middle of one of his morning exercises when Gouhin interrupted him.
"Hey Legoshi! Let's go on a trip together! You have been stuck in this routine for the past 300 years and I think it's time we tried something new. I think it's about time I introduced you to your "colleagues"." Gouhin hollered with an energetic smile.
Legoshi let go of the metal bar he was holding with his feet and floated down with extremely heavy weights strapped to his hands and feet like a pair of oversized boxing gloves and clown shoes. There was also what looked like a heavy metal ball that encapsuled a few inches of the tip of his tail.
The exercise routine that Legoshi was just doing was a combination of upside-down curl ups from a raised bar and swing from bar to bar that alternated between hands and feet when swinging from each bar. The bars for the exercise were arranged in a way that looked like an oval shaped hamster wheel, but not actually being a wheel.
"You mean the other 12 destroyers?" He asked inquisitively.
"Yep." Gouhin nonchalantly responded.
Gouhin waved his left hand and made the weights on Legoshi's body vanish.
"You're coming with me? You have mostly had me work on my own for the past 3000 years."
"You that was to help you be self-sufficient with your job. Besides, I trust you and can always look you up with my staff." Gouhin says while twirling his staff
Gouhin took Legoshi to each of the 12 other universes of the multiverse in no particular order and while each visit was not that eventful, Legoshi did notice that while the destroyers were of different races, he saw that the angels were all of the same race and while the destroyers seemed indifferent about their arrival, the angels showed a subtle act of distain for Gouhin, which is unusual from the descriptions that Gouhin had told of the other angels. On the way to the last universe Legoshi had questions that he could not just keep to himself even though he was unsure if he should ask them.
"Why are you the only angel that is of another race?"
Gouhin looked behind him at Legoshi during transit
"I expected this question to come up, though perhaps a bit sooner. Angels are like Kais in that they are born divine with their roles in the cosmic order of things already set. In my case, I am the only being in the multiverse to have ever earned the position of angel."
Legoshi looked at Gouhin a bit of ahh and greater respect for Gouhin for his achievement, though this line of thinking eventually led to his other question.
"I noticed that the other angels don't seem to like you that much… Do you know why that is?" He asked inquisitively with a bit of concern behind it.
"So, you noticed that? Well, I did train you to hone your senses. Well… besides not being related to them and not a divine that was originally fashioned for the role of angel, I guess they see me as a warning."
"A warning for what?" Legoshi asked a little confused
"That they, like their charges, can be replaced."
Legoshi visualized what that meant and slowly nodded his head in understanding, though this answer brought up one more question
"How did you earn the position of angel for this universe over the angel before you?"
"Simply put, I was the best fit to replace them after they broke the rules of their position and failed at their duties."
Legoshi was content with the answer and decided to ride the rest of the way in silence.
In Universe 7 on Beerus' planet:
While most of the day on Beerus' planet was uneventful and dull, much to the dismay of Beerus. Whis, Beerus' master and attendant, knew that the newest destroyer of the multiverse would be making a visit today due to being contacted by Gouhin beforehand, but decided to make it a surprise for his own enjoyment.
While his other brothers and sisters had contempt for Gouhin, Whiz didn't really mind him since like Gouhin he mostly kept to his work as master and attendant than getting into what ifs.
Whiz was standing on a platform on one of the larger branches of the world sized tree when he sensed the arrival of Gouhin and one other that he didn't recognize and assumed that it was the newest destroyer due to their unmistakable destroyer ki signature. Whiz vanished from the platform into a massive room with floating hour glasses and a huge snake statue taking up most of the middle of the room. On a floating platform was the infamous destroyer of universe 7, the purple hairless cat anthro, Beerus in a shallow sleep from boredom.
Whiz instantly moved to the right side of Beerus' circular bed and softly coughed into his left hand as to quietly get his attention.
"Lord Beerus. You have guests." He stated matter of factly.
Beerus turned over lazily in his bed to face Whiz and slowly opened his eyes.
"Hmmm? Guests? Whiz did you invite people without telling me?!" Beerus mumbled in a tired form of anger.
"You have been sleeping for centuries at a time and I thought my lord could use something new to at least pique his interest."
On contemplating on what to say next as he wakes up a little more, Beerus remembers a premonition that he had a few decades ago.
"Is it the intergalactic Celebrities from my vision?!" he asked with a bit more excitement in his voice as he stood up from his bed.
"No my lord it is not as I have told you last time we had a visitor, but I believe you will be interested in these guests."
Whiz quickly turns away from Beerus
"And I believe they have just landed. *taps his staff on thin air and summons Beerus' destroyer clothes on the bed* I think you will want to wear these for a good first impression."
"And why have you not told me who they are yet? You clearly know who they are!" Beerus asked suspiciously and annoyed.
"I thought my lord could use a surprise to energize his mood * hand over mouth laughter*"
"Whiz! The last surprise you had for me was a dessert you said was the most delicious in a thousand quadrants, but it tasted like sugar coated mud! Now if you don't tell me who these guests are now then I'm going back to bed and you're going to tell them off!" Beerus' yelled lividly.
"*Sighs* well you're no fun. Well, if that is what my lord wishes… Do you happen to remember the current angel of universe 13?" he asks as he turns his head back to look at Beerus.
Beerus sat down with one leg on the bed in a bent posture with the other hanging off the side of the bed.
"*Raises an eyebrow* kind of hard not to considering he sticks out like a large bird in a group of mammals compared to the other angels. Is he the one here then?"
"He is Lord Beerus. He has also brought his new charge with him to."
This caught Beerus' attention enough that he starts dressing into his destroyer cloths and gets out of bed.
"I was not aware that Gouhin took on a new destroyer already. Do you know who they are?" Beerus asked as he stood at attention a foot behind Whiz.
"No, I do not my Lord. This will be a surprise for us both. Now, are you ready to greet them."
"Of course I am. At least it will be something new to keep to memory."
With Gouhin and Legoshi:
"Last stop for the week!" Gouhin announced as they arrived in a rainbow-colored column of light.
Legoshi looked around and noticed many similarities in the trees and color of the flora of this world compared to universe 6's destroyer's world. These similarities made Legoshi shudder in the thought of meeting another person with as ill and childish temperament as Champa.
"I'm sorry Bill for complaining to myself about your self-centeredness, you could have been so much worse." Legoshi thought anxiously to himself.
As they reached the base of the world tree, they can see two figures at the top of the first branch closets to the ground. They waved at them and a second later the figures seemed to teleport a couple of feet in-front of them.
"Greetings Gouhin! It has been roughly 15,000 years since we last met. I take it the grey wolf behind you is your universe's newest destroyer?" Whis greeted friendly.
Legoshi walked around Gouhin so he could greet this universe's angel
"Yes, he is Whis! Is Beerus with you?"
Beerus walks around Whis.
"Rarely a time when I'm not. So, this is your new charge?" Beerus states as he walks up to Legoshi.
Legoshi's first thought was to cringe at the fact that Beerus looked uncannily like Champa except for the fact that it looks like Beerus takes much better care of himself, which was a plus side. Legoshi read Beerus' expressions as he approached and noticed that he looked a bit out of it as if he was still a little bit asleep with the how his eyelids are positioned.
Legoshi took a small, respectful bow to his "colleague" before he addressed himself.
"Hello Beerus *turns to Whis for a moment* and Whis. I'm Legoshi, the destroyer of universe 13 and I guess I'm still relatively new to this compared to the other destroyers who have millions of years of experience while I only have 8000 years."
Whis gives a closed eyed smile while Beerus looks over his body.
"At least it looks like you keep up you're training and have manners to elders, but I would not put myself down too much. Your master is quite the brilliant teacher from last I recall if your predecessor is anything to go by." Beerus compliments Legoshi.
Legoshi takes the compliment well considering it is from a far more experienced destroyer, though Gouhin flinches a little bit at the mention of Legoshi's predecessor but manages to keep himself composed.
Legoshi waves to Gouhin to bring his head closer to whisper in his ear. Gouhin obliges and listens to what Legoshi wants to say while Beerus merely raises an eyebrow in semi-interest.
Gouhin nods and materializes with his staff a pungent cup of tea and hands it to Legoshi. Legoshi takes the cup and offers it to Beerus.
"I hope I didn't wake you. Here *hands over cup* I think this will help energize you."
Before Beerus takes a sip of the tea…
"Be careful… The tea is rather strong… reason why it helps with waking up"
Beerus looks up to Legoshi then back to the tea and sips it. Indeed, it was strong to Beerus, but in a way that focuses the senses to be more attentive. Beerus sips it slower as to not get overwhelmed and eventual finishes the cup.
"It's certainly a sipping kind of tea, but thanks non the less. At least it was better than the tea that this universe's supreme kai makes."
Legoshi noticed that while Beerus seemed more active his eyes did not change in appearance.
"Are you…bored perhaps?" Legoshi asks with a little bit of concern in his voice.
Beerus' eye shot up for a second in surprise as if he was being called out, but quickly returned to a normal state.
"How very perceptive of you Legoshi! Why yes, I am bored. Bored out of my mind really. Nothing even remotely exciting has happened for me in roughly 3 million years. The only challenge I have is Whis and even that gets repetitive and dule since I can never win." Beerus stated with some annoyance mixed with desperation.
Legoshi ponders on this for a few seconds while scratching the side of his face.
"Why don't I fight you?"
"Destroyer's can't fight each other unless sanctioned by the Grand Priest or by Zeno himself." Gouhin stated.
Beerus sighs in disappointment while Legoshi looks away sheepishly like he just asked a stupid question.
In desperation, Beerus tries to figure out a way they can both fight without getting into trouble as a fight with another destroyer, and a new one at that, would certainly help alleviate his boredom at least for a time.
"Why is that?" Legoshi asks.
"Because a fight between destroyers could destroy both their respective universes." Whis answered this time.
"But what if it was just a sparing match or training exercise? Where we don't get serious or use our power?"
"That still would not work as you would still be in this universe." Whis stated
the words "training exercise" and "in this universe" sparked an idea in Beerus as he recalls the dimension he used to use often for training.
"While we could keep it to just sparing, we still could not do that "here"." Beerus said with a small, mischievous smile on his face.
Legoshi was a bit confused by why Beerus was smiling.
"Whis, is it alright if me and Legoshi spared in "that" place?" He said as he turned to Whis.
"So long as you don't use your power as destroyers then I suppose you could."
"Of course" Beerus said with a growing grin on his face.
Legoshi had a confused and curious look to him as he watched Whis summon a bright red orb that expanded into a galaxy like shape.
"Follow me" Beerus said as he jumped into the center and vanished
Legoshi looked to Gouhin for approval and with a nod from Gouhin, Legoshi jumped in after Beerus.
Legoshi saw that this place he was pulled into was a void filled with colorful smoke formations with a completely white background.
"How do you like it? I have not used this place in a long time since I didn't really need it anymore after mastering my divinity." Beerus asked.
"It feels a little stuffy in here with the smoke clouds but other than that it's fine I guess… could use some landmarks in my opinion." Legoshi states while scratching the top right of his head.
"It can get disorienting, but the lack of matter in here is great for letting lose without fear of breaking your own property or making an unnecessary mess."
Beerus places his left hand behind his back and his right hand out with fingers together and palm facing up.
"Show me what you have learned Legoshi!" Beerus challenged.
Legoshi was at first unsure how to proceed. He didn't know if he should not pull any punches to start with as to give a good first impression to an elder destroyer or to hold back as to not hurt him as he has not fought another destroyer before and only has Gouhin, an angel, to compare to. After a few seconds Legoshi decides to test the waters and not underestimate Beerus and not hold back.
Legoshi gets into his preferred martial stance as he places his right foot slightly ahead of his left, his back slightly bending to the right and back, his left arm stretched out and over his chest with his left palm facing down with his fingers spread, his tail firming fix behind his left leg, and his right arm almost stretched out completely with his right palm facing up with his fingers spread.
Legoshi makes the first move and speeds towards Beerus faster than what Beerus was expecting of a god so young that he didn't react in time to defend or dodge Legoshi's right hand swipe to his face and left-hand jab at his gut that happened simultaneously. Legoshi turns around for another strike but halts when he sees Beerus' face bleeding quite a bit on his right cheek.
"I'm so sorry Beerus I didn't mean…" Legoshi begins to apologize while sweating a bit.
"No no don't apologize*Quickly straightens up from a bent posture and cracks his neck* it's my own damn fault or maybe it's my universe's damn fault for not challenging me that I underestimated another destroyer, even though you are so young."
Beerus quickly turns around assumes a more active martial stance while wiping away the blood from his face. Legoshi immediately notices a fire in Beerus' eyes and a smile on his face that almost looks manic.
"I guess he most have been really bored if he is getting this excited." Legoshi thinks to himself as he readies for another strike.
Beerus makes the next move and charges forward for a right upper cut. Legoshi responds by placing his palms on the top of Beerus' fist and using the momentum to flip over Beerus and strike him first with his tail which manages to slap him on the back of his tail, but when he tried to follow it up with a left kick Beerus caught his foot with his left hand and flung him forward. Legoshi tried to respond with a right kick to Beerus' face but was stopped when Beerus punched his leg up with his right hand before it landed which forced it over Beerus' head. Beerus followed up with a right kick to Legoshi's face while still holding his left foot as Legoshi's head was falling towards Beerus due to the leg punch.
Legoshi dodge most of Beerus' foot, but got scrape by the left of his shoe, which left a good scratch mark on his face. Legoshi bent towards Beerus and grabbed his right arm with his right arm so that he would not be able the tail strike coming for his head. Beerus was surprised by how much a wolf's tail could hurt as he almost let go of Legoshi's left foot but managed to still break the grip after the strike and throw Legoshi forwards.
Beerus followed this up by charging at Legoshi with a forward spin attack with his tail. Legoshi manages to catch the tail with his left hand, but not without getting whipped hard in his palm, and starts to spin Beerus. Beerus responds with a left kick to Legoshi's mouth. The kick connects with Legoshi's nose and forces him to spin downwards. Legoshi responds by kicking the back of Beerus' neck before throwing him away. This kick and throw results in both Legoshi and Beerus spinning away from each other.
They both quickly stop their spinning and turn themselves right side up. Legoshi's nose is bleeding along with a small trickle of blood coming from his left hand, while the back of Beerus' neck was bleeding. Both of their heads felt a little spiny for a few seconds before turning their attention back to each other. A smile began to plaster itself on Legoshi's face as this was a fair fight and he was not losing for once since he has yet to land a hit on Gouhin. Beerus was also smiling as this was the most fun he had in millennia since he also found constantly losing to Whis was no fun either.
The fight continues like this, both landing and taking attacks, for an hour as both did not want to let go of the adrenaline rush this spare was giving them. At some point after, Legoshi notices a purple aura emanating from both himself and Beerus and quickly realizes that they are taking this too far.
Legoshi holds his right hand out in front of Beerus.
"We have to stop Beerus! Look!" Legoshi warns as he then gestures to his aura and Beerus.
Beerus looks down at himself and notices that his destroyer's aura is emanating. Beerus straightens out of his martial stance and takes a deep breath to calm down.
"Damnit you're right!" Beerus growls to himself out loud as his aura fades.
"Just as I was having fun we got carried away *sighs* but rules are rules. I think I have a good idea of where you stand Legoshi in terms of skill at least."
"And?.. How did I do?!" Legoshi asked out of curiosity and hope.
While his master compliments his progress, hearing from a more experienced destroyer would certainly put his training results in a better perspective for himself.
"This was not a training exercise, but I would say that you really don't have that much more to learn and compared to the other destroyers I have seen in action I can guess that you are above the average, which is actually quite impressive for a god so young but considering your master I'm not that surprised since your predecessor was the greatest destroyer of us all."
Legoshi was about to smile in confidence but was brought to curiosity when Beerus mentioned his predecessor again.
"You mentioned them before. Whenever I try to bring it up Gouhin tries to change the subject almost immediately. Do you know who they were?"
"Her name is Kyuu, a rabbit destroyer who became destroyer a million years after I did. She was the only destroyer to have completely mastered Ultra Instinct. She also had the highest record for matter and life destroyed. I looked up to her *holds in a laugh* a bit due to her stance on destruction and molded my on philosophy based on hers… that destruction should be chaotic, untamed, and indiscriminate."
"Did she go too far and had to be removed?" Legoshi asked. Confused as to how such an efficient, but merciless sounding, destroyer could fail.
"No, that was not the issue. She was…volatile to say the least and was not afraid to attack her superiors. It was when she attacked Zeno that she was removed from existence by Zeno himself for that act of insanity in my opinion. I don't know what possessed her to do that, but knowing a destroyer was erased is still a humbling thing."
Legoshi wanted to know what could have pushed her to do that but believes that the only person who could know that is Gouhin and he wouldn't budge on the subject. Feeling that he would not get any more information on the subject, he decided to change to another one.
"Don't you feel bad for the people you destroy? Do you have to be heartless to excel as a destroyer?" Legoshi asked out of concern.
"*Sighs, folds his arms across his chest, closes his eyes* I almost forgot that you are still relatively new to this. For greatly entertaining me, let me give you some honest advice on being a destroyer." Beerus offers as he slowly floats towards Legoshi before stopping a foot and a half away.
"I know the hesitation you can get on the job. The pondering on the morality of your actions. It is a natural reaction one can have being a destroyer, but it is better to find some enjoyment out of your work than to constantly question yourself. This might sound heartless, but the alternative can be much worse on two fronts. One, you can go mad from what you have done and harbor thoughts and actions of rebellion against the balancing forces of creation, which will get you erased. Two, you can be replaced by someone who is truly heartless and has no regards for life, making your attempts at preserving the life you forfeited your own for backfire in the worst way possible. I don't mean to find that enjoyment out of the killing, but from the good work you are doing to balance the forces of creation and to allow life to spring forth from the ashes of what needs to pass on."
Legoshi was honestly not sure how to take this advice. On one hand how was he to determine the value of life, though he tempered that thought with his acceptance of his duty, but on the other hand he could understand the need to have good mental health considering the massive responsibility he has and having a sense of fulfillment and/or enjoyment is a good way to keep up his mental health.
Beerus could see the struggle Legoshi was having internalizing his advice and what the difficulty could be about. Beerus opens his eyes and stares at Legoshi.
"Let me give you one more piece of advice. If you are conflicted with a race that is destroying the life on their world but are not sure if you have the heart to destroy them then I suggest you start working on acting. The threat of oblivion is a great motivator for even the densest of races to change their ways to preserve life. Sometimes you may have to make an example out of some of them, but if you can get your point across by being scary to them then you won't have to destroy all of them. Simply put being nice and preserving life are not always on the same side."
Legoshi understood this advice better and felt more comfortable with it but believed it would be difficult for him to do as he has never tried to be scary on purpose.
Seeing that Legoshi understood that advice better, he look up.
"Whis! We are done in here! You can let us out now!" Beerus shouted.
"As you wish Lord Beerus." Whis said as he brought the two destroyers out of his staff dimension.
Once they were back on Beerus' planet, Legoshi bowed to Beerus.
"Thank you for the spar and advice Beerus."
"And thank you Legoshi for giving me enough entertainment to last at least a few decades." Beerus thanked with a grin.
"I too would like to thank you Legoshi for entertaining my lord and getting him out of his stupor." Whis gratefully says with a smile.
"*yawns while rubbing his eyes* while you don't have to leave, I'm afraid I can't entertain you any further as you have managed to tire me out. You have trained your lord well Gouhin, and Legoshi… keep my advice in mind as it may help you to truly grow into your station."
Beerus turns around and looks to Whis.
"Whis, I am retiring to my chambers. If you would not mind."
"Of course, Lord Beerus. *Turns around and looks behind him* Thank you again Legoshi and goodbye." He says as he waves his right hand to the right.
Whis teleports himself and Beerus away, leaving Legoshi and Gouhin to themselves.
Legoshi and Gouhin decided to leave as there was no point in staying. On the way back home Gouhin decides to ask:
"What did you think of Beerus?"
"He sounds a little to trigger happy when it comes to his job, but he understands what he is doing and why even better than I do for my job and also knows how to give advice, probably due to his millions of years of experience."
"A fair assessment though he really isn't as active as he should be, but I can understand why… boredom is a real hinderance on one's productivity."
Legoshi nods in agreement to this as they make their way home. Once they make it back, Legoshi decides to rest and reflect on Beerus' advice.
50,000 years later:
Over the millennia, Legoshi trains not only his body and skills as a martial artist and destroyer, he focuses on his acting skills to try to seem terrifying to those who he wants to change their ways, but due to his introverted nature this was much easier said than done. Legoshi also expanded his targets list of destruction to include those who are evil in nature and those who appear to be doing a terrible impression of a destroyer with their wanton violence.
Over time his mind began to wander to thoughts of home and how his planet has done. A part of him hope they got their act together and stopped fighting and improved their world, but his experience with millions of worlds he destroyed told him they probably destroyed themselves a long time ago. His mind would then sometimes drift off to Bill, one of the last "friendly" faces he saw on his home world and wondered how his afterlife was going.
One day during training exercises he decided that he would go on a trip to see him and ask how his world and him have been doing.
"Gouhin, do you know which world or worlds is this universes afterlife?" Legoshi asked as he destroyed his training weights.
"I do. Why do you ask? Did you want to go there?"
"I do and would like for you to take me there since I don't know where it is. I want to see someone from my past there."
Gouhin ponders this over a sec and decides on something else.
"I think I know what you are getting at, but instead of me holding your hand for this and making any reunion awkward, why don't I just show you the way." He suggests as he raises his staff and shots out a column of blue light that speeds into the sky and across the universe.
"That beam of light will lead you to the dimension called Purgatory, one of three dimensions tied together to form the afterlife. The attendants there should be able to lead you to who you want to meet."
"Thank you Gouhin."
"Don't mention it!"
Legoshi waves goodbye and flies into the sky and follows the blue trail to its destination.
5 hours later, on the world of Purgatory:
Legoshi lands on what appears to be an asphalt road. Legoshi looks around and sees a green sky with blue clouds. He sees flying, silver buses carry what appear to be balls of teal smoke that he assumes are souls of the dead. There are trees of white leaves and black trunks rooted in what oddly seems to be normal green grass. There are no other signs of civilization except for a massive building off in the distance which all the buses are flying towards. Seeing nothing else of note, Legoshi flies towards the building. The souls of the buses don't seem to acknowledge him, but some of the drivers, who appear to be a mix of demonic and angelic features, gave him looks ranging from mild interest to looks of terror. Shrugging off the looks given to him, Legoshi flies to his destination and makes it to the building within 2 minutes, though this was more of a leisurely flight.
As Legoshi landed, he saw that the building appeared to be a massive, modernized train station that he could see being on his home world when he still lived there, except for the fact it was way too big to be cost effective back on that planet.
Legoshi walked up to and entered the station through automatic sliding glass doors. The scent of the building was of a mild mint with brown walls and tiled floor. There was a massive line of thousands of souls forming lines that all lead to the same set of massive double doors that were propped open to keep them open. Announcer demons and angels were guiding the souls towards the double doors. In between the lines of souls is what appeared to be a receptionist desk made of reddish-brown wood in a circular shape with a marble top. There was a much shorter line of only a few dozen at a time of beings with their bodies. Legoshi decided to wait behind them. Legoshi didn't mind having to wait as he was in no rush. Some of the people turned around and saw Legoshi and seemed to somehow sweat a little and step to the side to let him pass. It seems to Legoshi that they recognized him or his outfit.
Once he got to the counter, he rang the desk bell that was to the right.
"I'm right here sir." Said a tired female voice.
Legoshi looked over the counter and saw an anthro sheep woman who was sitting on a leather desk chair in front of a HD computer screen. She was not looking at him when she answered.
"Hello mam! I'm here looking for a Tiger by the name Bill. Do you know him?"
"You are going to have to be more specific than that sir." The sheep tiredly stated.
"He's kind of obsessed with his accomplishments and self-image. Also, he can be a real pervert and is not shy talking about it out loud."
"If you mean my pain in the ass boss then you are going to have to wait for quite a bit since he is busy at his desk currently taking a call while also filing souls to their destinations."
"Could I get a meeting in faster if I told you my name and title?" Legoshi asked.
Legoshi felt a bit selfish throwing his weight around to get what he wants, but he really wants to see Bill and find out about him and what happened.
"*Sigh* another guy who thinks he's hot sh** again. Either I have to deal with a rowdy soul who annoys the piss out of me, or Bill gives me more work later on to let them in front of the line." She thinks to herself.
"Name?" She asks.
"Legoshi."
The name sounded familiar to her, but she could not put her finger on it.
"Your "Title"?" she asks with a little condensation.
"God of Destruction of universe 13."
The receptionist immediately stops typing, swings her chair around and looks up to see an anthro wolf wearing the unmistakable attire of the destroyer that her and every official in the afterlife was trained to spot and respect.
"OOO SH**!" She loudly said as she fell backwards in her chair.
She quickly got up, without even picking her chair back up, and started rapidly typing on her keyboard in a panic.
"I'm so sorry sir! Please forgive my rudeness! I'll call him up right away!" She quickly says in a panicked apology.
She quickly picks up her office phone and dials the number of the office past the double doors.
Legoshi wanted to reassure her that she was fine, but she looked like she was to busy with his request to acknowledge him.
Meanwhile in the main office of the Purgatory train station:
A massive giant of an anthro tiger, wearing a black suit and tie, was behind a black and brown toped office desk in a L shape surrounded by computer screens and paperwork. He was on a call that seemed quite aggressive on one side and merry on the other.
"F*** you Bill you piece of SH**! How did you get the job of Soul Judge and I got stuck with Hell management!? You were doing nothing compared to me! Why the F*** did you get the promotion and not me!?" a man screamed on one end of the line.
"You're probably right about the work amount, but we have already been over this many times Lucy that you have the personality of burning wax on sandpaper. And don't forget you assaulted multiple members of the committee when your odds were not looking good." Bill said in a teasing, condescending, and mocking tone.
"It's Lucifer you insufferable dick! And those dumb asses picked popularity over efficiency and deserve to be demoted to those bitches you call "Spirit Guides"." Lucifer barked in protest.
"They were called that before me and you Lucy." Bill states calmly.
A button on his desk phone begins to flash, signaling that he has another call on the line.
"Looks like I got a more important call on the line, even though I just love these chats we have. Hey, tell your daughter Charlie I said she would make a better Judge than you and does not have the temperament of a wet cat on steroids." Bill teased.
"F*** Y*Click*" Lucifer was about to scream but was hung up on.
"Yes, my hot rump roast!?" He Flirts as he changes to the next line.
The sheep face palms hard and is glad she did not put herself on speaker for everyone to hear again.
"You have a visitor here to see you."
"I'm a little bit too busy for visitors today Els. Tell them to come back tomorrow morning."
"I really don't think you want to do that Bill!" She answered back in a nervous and quiet tone.
"Yeah, whisper to me quietly…So who has got you so scared?" Bill answered perversely back.
"The God of Destruction is here to see you!" Els whispered more anxiously, to scared to scold him in front of the destroyer.
There is a long pause at the other end of the line as Bill's emotional state quickly switched from perverted to nervous in a second. Els can hear a rushed shifting of papers before Bill finally responded.
"Ok let them in now." Bill uttered with a small choke in his voice.
Els quickly hung up the phone and walked around the desk and bowed in a 90-degree angle.
"I am so sorry for the delay Lord Legoshi sir! Thank you for your patience. Bill will see you now if you will follow me." She quickly reassures as she straightens back up and motions for Legoshi to follow.
Legoshi was a little uncomfortable with how she feared him and tried to think of a way to calm the mood but could only think of asking for her name.
"I didn't catch your name miss?" Legoshi politely asked as they walked up to the double doors.
"It's Els sir." She meekly answered.
"You know you don't have to be afraid of me Els…" Legoshi reassured but was cut off.
"Afraid!? Who said anything about being afraid! *Nervously laughs*" Els unconfidently reassures with a sudden raise of voice as to falsely portray a feeling of being happy.
Legoshi decided to not try to help the situation as she probably wants him to leave ASAP as just his presence probably felt threatening.
Bill was quickly throwing trash away and filing away papers to make his work area look as professional as possible when he turned around and saw Els and someone just behind her.
"It is an honor to be in your company Lord sirrrr…" Bill was sweaty greeting the destroyer but when he opened his eyes to see a face he had not seen in millennia.
"L..Legoshi? Is that really you Legoshi!?" Bill asked aloud.
Using his divine speed, Legoshi vanished and reappeared on top of Bill's desk. Legoshi was about the size of Bill's hand, but Bill and Legoshi knew that size meant nothing in the face of true power.
"What other freak of nature do you know Bill?"
While Legoshi does not like to take jabs at himself, he knew this would let Bill know this is the Legoshi he met all those centuries ago.
Bill pounded both fists on his desk in excitement.
"It really is you Legoshi! I thought the next time I would see you would be as a spirit, not as the freaking God of Destruction!"
Bill brought his face close to Legoshi's
"So, tell me how the hell you went from virgin freak of nature to a force of nature?!" Bill excitedly asks.
"Like this."
Legoshi lets his destroyer's aura envelop him.
"I remember that! So does that aura make you qualified to be destroyer?"
"It does. Remember what happened to everything that touched it?"
"Yeah! It dissolved everything it touched into nothing in an instant. It was certainly awe inspiring…. And maybe a little terrifying at the time."
"That is called Hakai, the power to destroy anything in the universe. This is the primary ability of a destroy and what led me to this position."
"By the way… who was that panda that kidnapped you?" Bill asked out of curiosity.
"That was Gouhin: The most powerful being in this universe, the angel of this universe, my martial arts and destroyer training master as well as my attendant. Apparently, there was a bit of urgency in a new destroyer, and I was the only one qualified…. Thus, the kind of kidnapping. To be fair to Gouhin I probably would have destroyed the planet in a fit of bloodlust if he did not intervene."
"Is that so?... Well, thank goodness for him *nervously laughs*"
Bill quickly changes the subject to change his own train of thought.
"Anyways, with all that power you got you must have lost your virginity a thousand times over by now! I mean what beta male passes up the opportunity to use such godly power to get what he wants!?" Bill states with a flex.
"Shut the hell up Bill!" Legoshi angerly pouts while looking down in embarrassment.
After that statement from Legoshi, Els decides that quickly leaving the room would be the best way to preserve her existence and promptly does so.
"What!? You mean you're still a VIRGIN!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Bill roars in laughter so loudly that all the windows in his office shatter.
"ANYWAY!" Legoshi shouts in desperation to change the subject.
Els dives underneath her desk after hearing Legoshi shout.
Hearing the anger in Legoshi's voice Bill quickly shuts the hell up because even though this was Legoshi, he is also the God of Destruction and could erase him from existence anytime he wanted to.
"How did you get a leadership job in the afterlife?!" Legoshi calmly asks after seeing Bill shutting the hell up.
Bill's tone switch from nervous restraint to overconfidence.
"Well out of the two that were qualified to take the position as Soul Judge, I was the one chosen even though I did less official work because I was not a power-hungry sociopath like Lucy but let me tell you about the amazing stuff that led up to that."
Bill began to spin tales of conquests on desks and beds as he embellished his history in hopes of impressing Legoshi as both his former brother in arms and to impress the current God of Destruction in hope of inflating his already huge ego and that he would spread his stories across the universe.
As Bill was rapping up his stories, Legoshi heard lines of spirits behind him get more and more agitated as they grew in size.
"It seems like you are busy Bill, so I won't keep you for much longer."
"Take all the time you want to Legoshi" Bill reassures.
"I just have one more question before I go…Do you know what happened to our home world?" He asks out of concerned curiosity.
Bill's face changed from a mixture of joy and anxiety to one of depression.
"The world war we fought in eventual escalated into mass genocide and soon after into a mass extinction event." Bill answered with a little bit of sadness and PTS in his voice.
Legoshi knew that was a possibility, but it still hurts to hear your home world was devastated like that.
"How much was destroyed? And is there hope for life to replenish there?"
"According to our records… all sapient life was lost so life will have to start with no self-awareness. It will take a long ass time, but our calculations and my best guess is that sapient life will return there one day."
Legoshi takes in a deep breath and exhales.
"At least there is hope then."
Legoshi turns around and see the ling practically trying to climb up Bill's desk now.
"I really should be leaving now. Bye Bill! I was nice seeing you again!" Legoshi says as he flies past the double doors and out the building.
"Bye Legoshi! Nice seeing you again too! And try to get some at some point!" Bill shouts after him.
Legoshi returns home and ponders about the future and wonders when he should return to his home world and see what it has become.
Author's note: I'm very sorry for taking so long between chapters. Isolation due to pandemic has been a real hinderance to my motivation to write these, but I hope at least you enjoyed this chapter and will enjoy the next one.
