Okay! So anyway, this is my first fic…since I'm only 11, I have to use my friend's account. :( But that's alright, I guess. No fic would be complete without the obligatory disclaimer: I do not own Animal Crossing or Animal Crossing: Wild World, Nintendo owns that stuff, I just own my four characters. Anyway, please review, critique is encouraged, blah blah blah blah blah... oh, enough with the chatting! Let's get on with the fic already!

To Kosmo,

This world has many secrets…secrets that only a few know.

Come to the well at midnight to discover these secrets.

--A secret person

That was the letter Kosmo had received a few days ago.

He had to admit, it was a very strange letter…the handwriting was rather messy, as if it were written in a hurry, and the pattern on the stationary was also unusual. But the strangest thing was, it almost seemed to glow in the darkness of the night…

So it was midnight, and he was now heading for the well at the center of town. How he managed to sneak out was beyond him; although his dad was quite a sound sleeper, his mother had the ears of a hawk and could hear a conversation clearly from another room.

Maybe he was just lucky. Or maybe it was…nah, it couldn't have been that.

Soon, he arrived at the well. Unsure of what to do, he sat down and waited for something to happen.

After 10 minutes, nothing had happened at all. Man, what's taking so long? he thought, This better not be a scam, or I'm going to punch someone! He decided that he was just going to go back home, he was sleepy anyway.

But as soon as he was about to leave, he noticed another sheet of paper in the bucket of the well. He picked it up, and read it:

Congratulations, not many make it this far. Now what I'm going to tell you is a bit strange…but I assure you nothing bad will happen.

Jump into the well.

Kosmo was baffled. Jump into the well? What kind of idiot did this guy think he was? If he didn't drown, he would surely get killed from the landing. He was right, this was a waste of time. Thoroughly angry at whoever had told him this, he crumpled up both of the letters and left.

"Secrets," he muttered to himself, "Ha, what a joke. I can't believe I fell for that!"

And yet…why did he feel like he had just missed something? He looked at the well one last time…

Suddenly, a pale green light erupted from the well. Kosmo immediately ran to the well to see what was happening, and found that a swirling portal had opened inside.

Well, Kosmo thought, there isn't possibly anything that could be weirder than that...and so, without thinking, he jumped in.

It was quite an odd feeling, he had never fallen this far or this fast in the 9 years of his life. But he was beginning to slow down, and once he blinked, he found himself in a train station, the train just arriving. The train door opened, to reveal the strangest creature Kosmo had ever seen.

The creature looked at him. "Well? Are you comin' in, or what?"

Kosmo blinked. What exactly was that thing? And where was he? "Yeah, sure, but...what exactly is this?" he asked.

The frog-looking thing chuckled. "Why, me lad," it said, "this is The Animal Crossing!"

And that's the prologue. BTW, the frog-thing is Kapp'n, if you couldn't tell. Since I wasn't sure whether to base this fic on the Gamecube version or the DS version, I decided to make it based on both. And I know he's actually a kappa, and he looks more like a parrot or a turtle to some people…but I think he looks like a frog. Chapter 1 will be up whenever. :)
