Shisui and Trust
"You know how you can tell something big is going to happen Shino?" I asked.
"I have a few ideas but you should just tell me. Why, because knowing you they're all probably wrong." Shino said.
"Humph you're no fun" I pouted "You can tell something big is going to happen when you've only just woken up and you have absolutely no idea what's going on."
"That isn't true." Shino said "I never know what's going on with you and sometimes days still manage to be average."
"Shino you have no idea just how insulting that is to me." I sulked.
"Hey do you guys know what the hell happened to Ami?" Kiba asked "She just bowed and apologized to me."
"Maybe she's up to something?" Ino suggested.
"Oh she's definitely up to something." I agreed.
"Or she could be sincere?" Sakura suggested.
"No that's impossible." We all said in sync.
Sakura sighed "You know something don't you?" And then jumped at Shikamru's sudden question.
"Yeah I do..." Sakura admitted "how'd you figure it out so fast?"
"You came to Ami's defense almost immediately." Shikamaru answered "You had no reason to do so unless you knew something we didn't."
"Look... Ami told me some really personal things yesterday. She wants to be a better person but..."
"nobody believes her because she's been such a terrible person." Choji finished.
"Troublesome" Shikamaru muttered. "I say we just give it some time. Keep Naruto and Ino busy pranking each other so they can't torment Ami."
"Well how do we do that?" Choji asked.
"Easy so far both Naruto and Ino have been exclusively pranking each other. Instead of pranking the others team. We need to broaden our horizons and bring this war to the next level." Shikamaru answered.
"That sounds like it could backfire horrendously." Sakura said.
Shikamaru shrugged "It'll make our lives a bit more inconvenient but it will keep them off Ami's back."
"Why would you even want to help her?" Sakura asked "She tormented you and Choji just like the rest of us."
Shikamaru sighed "Troublesome, according to Ino Ami tormented you more then the rest of us. If you think she changed I'll trust your judgement."
"Not to mention she might not survive the combined efforts of Ino and Naruto." Choji added.
"Yes that to." Shikamaru agreed.
"Don't say things like that." Sakura shivered "Just the thought of it sends shivers down my spine."
Kiba snorted and rolled his eyes before tapping Shino and Hinata. "They're planning on pranking one of us." Kiba whispered "We should prank them first."
"Sh-shouldn't we let Naruto know?" Hinata asked? "He would like an excuse to prank Ino's team."
"No this doesn't have to involve him." Shino said. "Why, because this is our chance to show off. Besides I'm sure Naruto would be happy to take a short break."
"Naruto happy..." Hinata whispered "Let's do it." She said with the utmost determination.
Kiba snickered "You sure changed your mind quickly Hinata."
"Ah we-Well I-"
"Heh don't worry I'm just messing around." Kiba said "We should be more focused on how exactly we're going to get revenge on our friends who actually haven't done anything yet?"
"I've already got a few ideas." Shino answered "It's called Operation Water boy"
I have Ino a deadpan look "They do realize that they are discussing this plan inches away from us right?"
"Eh So what?" Ino asked "It'll be nice to sit back and watch the chaos instead of being part of it."
"Heh I'll agree with you there. Question is who's going to be pranked and who'll be the pranker?"
"Are you serious? My team is going to cream yours." Ino said cockily.
"Are you willing to bet on that?" I asked smugly.
"Yes actually I am, 50 ryo on my team." Ino declared.
"50 ryo on my team!" I Shot back.
"50 ryo that everything devolves into a complete disaster and both teams get pranked." Sasuke said in deadpan.
"Eh I'm feeling lucky I'll take that bet." I shrugged.
"Well I'm not going to chicken out now." Ino said "I'll take you up on that as well."
"I was trying to be sarcastic." Sasuke sighed.
That day at lunch team Ino was absent from their usual lunch group while everyone thought they were busy planning their strategy in reality however the three had decided to sit with Ami that day at lunch in Shiakmaru's own words 'I'm not going to help that troublesome women just for her to stab me in the back.'
Eating lunch with her would have been a good way to tell if she was trustworthy or not however Shikamaru's suspicious glances, Choji's unsureness, and Ami's embarrassment made the situation incredibly awkward.
"So uhhh..." Sakura said trying to break the mold "What have you been up to?"
"Not much..."
"Shogi"
"I'm grounded"
"Uhh... how did that happen?" Ami asked.
"We skipped class." Choji answered.
"Oh..."
Shikamaru sighed "This was a really bad idea."
"Yeah we could have planned this a little better." Sakura agreed "I'm sorry about all this."
"It's fine but..." Ami cast a nervous glance at Shikamaru "can you please stop staring at me?"
"Oh sorry" Shikamaru said sincerely "But I have to know... what prompted such a sudden change?"
"I don't want to talk about it." Ami answered.
Surprisingly enough it was Choji who finally ended the stream of awkward questions. "Hey Ami do you know if that new sushi place is any good?"
"Oh yeah it is" Ami answered "My parents were complaining it was expensive though. Why are you asking me though?"
"Some of my cousins own a sushi place on the other side of the village. Dad was worried they might have some serious competition."
"Oh well if that's the case you shouldn't worry. Their good but not Akimichi good." Ami said reassuringly.
"Well thats good to hear. Where do you usually visit? Like food wise."
"I guess my family goes to a lot of the Akimichi steakhouses. My dad's a huge fan of steak."
"Alright" Shikamaru whispered to Sakura "If Choji can trust her I'll trust her, meet me and Choji after school and we'll put the plan into action."
Since both teams needed time to prepare their attack it gave me the time to relax. I was lounging around my house when Shisui Uchiha appeared out of nowhere. "I need your help."
"How did you get in here?" I asked "The window and door were locked and I'm pretty sure I would have noticed if you opened either of the two."
"I'm a ninja" was Shisui's simple answer "but this is a serious situation."
"Serious enough to bend the laws of physics it would seem. But I'll bite what's the issue?"
"I'm going to need your future knowledge." Shisui started.
"Oh Danzo's being a dick huh?" I asked as I walked to the fridge "You pitch an idea he doesn't like? Not enough murder for his tastes? You want a soda?"
"Yes, probably, and why not." Shisui sighed "I know you said this is where I lose my eye and that's something I want to avoid at all costs."
"Yeah that's probably a good call." I said as I threw the Uchiha a soda "But to be honest there isn't much to worry about. You would have won if Danzō didn't have that stupid eye."
"But he does so I need strategy, details, how do I win against him?"
"These seem like Itachi questions to me." I deadpanned "Look I'm going to level with you. I'm not a ninja. I don't know how ninja think, how ninja fight, or how ninja act. It's why I don't complain about going to the academy. I don't know what I'm doing, for the longest time I lived in a world without chakra. So I suggest you calm down, shut up, ask Itachi for help, and preferably kill the ROOT agent that's been watching us."
"Wait how do you know that-"
"It's Danzō" I said cutting him off "He's probably been following you all day."
Shisui rolled his eyes "Don't worry about me kid, I'm not a rookie I took out all the ROOT agents before I even got close to your apartment."
"Well that's good." I said nonchalantly as I took a sip of soda. "Man somehow food just tastes better when it's stolen."
"I'll pretend I didn't hear that." Shisui sighed "But there's something I need to ask you about. What... what is the forth Shinobi world war?"
"It's a mess" I answered honestly "It's a mess that I want to prevent. It involves the revived corpse of Madara Uchiha, A crazy plant monster, an army of zombies..."
"Alright!" Shisui said in exasperation "I regret asking."
"One last question." Shisui said "How much time do I have before he strikes?"
"I don't know." I said honestly "I know the future but I don't know everything. After the massacre I'm blind until graduation."
"You know for someone who knows the future you don't seem to know all that much." Shisui observes.
"And yet you'd be dead without me." I said smugly.
Danzō was very annoyed and it wasn't hard to see why. It wasn't just because Orochimaru's spy almost discovered, not because his plans for the Uchiha massacre delayed due to this new development, not because it was now necessary to kill Shisui Uchiha a loyal Shinobi to the village, but now he's learning that Orochimaru's new bug will need to be transferred to the academy and the kid looks anything but normal.
Which was why he was glaring at Kabuto Yutto with every fiber of his being. "Why exactly did Orochimaru think a six armed freak would be the best spy?"
"He believes that it would be easier to sympathies with someone who looks abnormal then someone who looks average. Others will also be less likely to take note of any strange behaviors when it could be taken offensively. Most importantly Konoha has more Kekkai Genki then any other hidden village and I'm sure you'd be more then happy to add one more to your collection." Was Kabuto's professional answer.
"Fine" Danzō gruffed "But if I end up regretting this decision we can consider this business deal off."
"Of course Danzō we understand that perfectly." Kabuto reassured him. "Just be ready to receive him this Friday."
"You can dismiss yourself then." Danzō said "I'll find a way to make this work."
Kabuto has a nasty smile on his face as he left Danzō's office. 'You won't regret your decision Danzō.' He thought 'You won't live long enough to.'
The next day after the academy was over team Ino put their plan into action. As Kiba was walking back to his clan compound Shikamaru, Sakura, and Choji followed closely behind him with the latter carrying a large bag of supplies. Unbeknownst to them Shino and Hinata were following them as well. But none of them knew that Naruto, Ino, and Sasuke were following them all. The scene looked especially strange to the nearby civilians.
Shikamaru was about to give the command to start their attack when Kiba suddenly stopped. "I know you guys are there" he said "I'm not going to be pranked that easily."
"Duck!" Shikamaru yelled.
The three members of team Ino complied as two water balloons were thrown from behind them. "You knew they were coming" Shino observed "How do I know, you knew to duck."
"Troublesome, I had a feeling Kiba might of overheard us." Shikamaru said "Which is why I've made a contingency plan. Choji?"
"On it!" Choji grabbed two bags of flour out of his bag and threw it at the members of Team Naruto.
Kiba easily dodged the bag but Hinata used her gentle fist to send the bag back towards team Ino. Choji didn't have enough time to react to this and ended up getting a face full of flour for it.
"Hahahaha! Take that!" Kiba laughed "You don't have anything on-" he was unable to finish his sentence however due to getting hit in the back with a water balloon courtesy of Sakura."
Kiba growled "Let me guess that was planned too huh?"
"Maybe a little." Sakura answered.
"Well I bet you didn't plan for this." Kiba grinned. About ten water balloons flew out of the alleyway and colided with team Ino. "I may have called in a few favors."
"Wi-will you admit defeat?" Hinata asked.
"I would suggest it." Shino said "Why, because you're severely outnumbered."
"Oh is that right?" Sakura asked Flour bags dropped from the trees covering all of Team Naruto in the white powder. "Because a few of the girls in class were all too happy to join team Ino.
"A-choo!" Kiba sneezed "Attack everybody!"
The now flour covered Academy students roared out a battle cry as they mercilessly attacked team Ino. Unfortunately for them the aforementioned team wouldn't go out without a fight and flour bags dropped like atomic bombs covering everything friend and foe alike. It became even worse when kids started using water guns instead of balloons and smoke bombs they had 'borrowed' from their ninja parents.
That day was now known as the first battle of the great Konoha prank war. How ever to Team Naruto the event was called Operation Waterboy.
Meanwhile on the rooftops Naruto and Ino had watched the ongoing chaos while both managing to lose fifty ryo each "You guys should know better then to take fools bets." Sasuke said "Or actually don't learn I could use more money in the future."
"Oh laugh it up Sasuke." I said sarcastically "How were we supposed to know things would get this out of hand?"
"May I remind you that your team consists of a guy that can control bugs, a girl that will do absolutely anything for you, and a person with enhanced senses and you're fighting against Ino's team who is composed of a lazy strategical genius, the most physically strong kid in our class, and that crazy women's best friend." Sasuke pointed straight at Ino when he said crazy women "There was a higher chance of something going wrong then something not going wrong."
"Can't argue with the facts I guess." I shrugged.
"You have to admit it's a pretty good show." Ino said.
Sasuke cracked a small smile as he saw the mayhem below "Yeah I'll admit it's pretty entertaining."
Shisui Uchiha was waiting for Itachi by the river where they usually met up when he heard a slight noise in the trees. "Show yourself Danzō" he said "I know you're there."
"Danzō?" Itachi asked as he arrived "Shisui what are you talking about?"
Shisui shook his head "Sorry Itachi I've just been on edge today. The massacre is going to happen soon you know that right?"
Itachi grit his teeth "Yeah I know... which means Danzō will attack you soon right?"
"That's right" Shisui said "I already went to get some future knowledge but... Naruto didn't have anything useful to say. He told me not to worry and as long as I was prepared I'd be fine."
"That's it?" Itachi asked "No strategy? No advice?"
"He said he wouldn't know what to do anyway." Shisui said "He wasn't a ninja before, so he wouldn't know what to do."
"I guess... the only thing you can do is fight him at full strength." Itachi said "I'll make sure to stay in the village for now though. If you need any backup I'll know."
That's reassuring" Shisui sighed "but I guess you're right but just in case I'm getting wasted tonight, might be the last time I get the chance."
"I'm not going with you again." Itachi deadpanned.
"Didn't expect you to." Shisui laughed.
