Disclaimer: Nothing from FFVII is mine. It all belongs to Square Enix

Set: Starts at the end of the battle for Cosmo Canyon and then when Nanaki and Bugenhagen have their chat after defeating the Gi in the canyon caves.

Written because the scene is so cute and there's just so many interesting characters deserted by square enix who deserve ficcage. Plus, its 3am in the morning and I think its a good idea.

Hope you enjoy!

Seto

When Seto had first felt himself dying due to the petrify poison he'd been torn between helplessness and fury so when something had offered him the chance to be aware in his petrified state he'd been a true warrior and had agreed to stand guard until another warrior worthy of the title was found to guard the canyon. Despite the major setback of not being able to move he remained ever watching and waiting.

Years passed, the legend of Seto dimmed and Bugenhagen sealed the cave. His son grew up, grew reckless, hating his father's memory, had gotten captured by ShinRa and was gone.

Fast forward to 'now'

"Voices" the thought drifted pleasantly into Seto's brain trickling past stone ears to the living tissue beneath. A second more of panicked thought and stifled instinct followed before he recognised Bugenhagen's trademark laugh accompanied by a new deep voice that Seto didn't recognise.

"This is your father, the warrior Seto..." Bugenhagen said. Shock rippled through both Nanaki and his father.

"He alone risked his life to protect the canyon, even now he watches over us still..." Disbelief then joy at the voice of the child he'd missed out on raising shot through Seto as he continued to listen to the ensuing replies followed by a rush of fierce pride at his Nanaki's declaration to go and defend the planet.

"Finally" as tears dripped from Seto's stone eyes, "a new warrior worthy of the title". His tears continued to fall as the green of the Lifestream surrounded him. He could now join the Lifestream content as his burden lifted from his shoulders to lie on the shoulders of the child who howled mournfully on the ledge below where he'd died.
