The rest of the day at school I could feel the excitement for tonight building up. Eddie Munson just asked me out on a date. Or maybe… he didn't really confirm that it was considered a date, but something about the look in his eyes made me feel that it was.

Stop it, Wyatt. Stop overthinking it. I scolded myself.

"Wyatt, are you even listening to me?" Steve's voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

I looked up at him across the table with a sheepish apologetic grimace on my face. "Sorry.."

Steve sighed and closed his magazine. Study hall was typically his gossip hour spend bitching to Robin and I about his issues with the ever revolving door of girls he's seeing. "What's got you so spaced out today?"

"I bet I can guess." Robin teased.

I shot her a look. "Don't even go there, Robbie."

Steve chuckled and began to sing, "Wyatt and Eddie sitting in a tree…" His voice began to get louder. "K-I-S-S-I"

I stood up, slapping my hand over his lips as other people bang to look over at us. My voice was low and threatening. "Don't you even fucking dare, Harrington."

Steve removed my hand from his mouth, "Or what?"

I just glared and sat back down, sufficiently irritated and crossing my arms in front of me. "I don't know what the hell is wrong with me."

"You clearly like him." Robin whispered.

I shot her a look. "I do not."

"Your face is a darker red than Andy's shirt."

I doubled down on my lie. "I don't like Eddie. I don't like anyone for that matter."

They both looked at each other. I was a terrible liar.

I sighed, "It's just… I think he asked me on a date when we ditched earlier."

Robin leaned forward, chin in elbow. "Spill it."

I looked around the room to make sure none of the other nosy students could hear me. "Well, when I got sent out for that lovely little exchange we had this morning," I shot a look at Robin, "I ran into Eddie in the hallway and we ditched together."

Steve interrupted. "Awe, little delinquents."

"Anyways," I continued completely ignoring him, "I uh…we… I don't know…kinda…nevermind.." Every part of me wanted to gush to them about the way he held onto my hand, or played with my hair, or how the way he tugged on it gave me shivers, but I decided to leave that out. "...he asked me to come see his band play tonight."

"Are you going to?" Robin asked excitedly.

I blushed. "Yes."

"That's great," Steve assured.

"But guys…" I began getting even quieter. "I've never been on a date before."

"Like ever?" Steve asked, surprised.

"Nope, never." I answered.

They both looked dumbfounded. Robin asked again. "You're eighteen years old and never been out on a single date?!"

I started, defending myself. "Look, I know you guys don't know a lot about my life, but I've never been in one place long enough to care to get attached to anyone, so I never bothered going on dates."

Robin smiled a little. "Buuut, you agreed to one with Eddie." Poking a huge hole in my logic.

"And…" Steve continued teasingly, "You don't like him."

"Believable." Robin finished.

I blushed, and before I got too red, I gently beat my head against the table a few times. I rested my head in my hands before giving them a muffled confession. "Okay, look…. Eddie just … does something to me…"

"Ew." Steve whispered.

I shot him a look and kept on, "I don't even really think it's a date though…"

"It's a date," they both answered simultaneously.

"If you'd like," Robin continued, "I can come over and help you get ready?"

"Are you sure?" I asked, breathing a sigh of relief.

"Of course," She answered immediately. "I'm off tonight anyways."

The bell rang, "Thank you so, so much Robbie." I scribbled down my address and tore it off the corner of my notebook as I gathered my things to head to the parking lot.

"I'll see you soon!" Robin called after me.

The drive home didn't take any time at all, maybe that was partially due to my nerves but it could also have been because I was speeding like a maniac. "What's the hurry?" Seth asked as he saw me throw the Bronco in park.

"No hurry." I stated as I bolted past him to my room, slamming the door.

"Okay…" Seth muttered.

I threw my shit on the messy floor and plopped my bed face first, screamed a little into my pillow from the excitement and panic. I rolled over and let out a long exhale, pushing my hair back. Why the hell does this dude have me acting like this?

I sat staring at the popcorn ceiling, seeing shapes and faces in the patterns, as I waited for Robin to pull up. I heard a vehicle coming up the gravel and I sat up to part the blinds. It was Robin getting out of the passenger side of Steve's car.

Steve gave me a wave from above the steering wheel as he backed out.

"Wyatt!" I heard Seth call..

I bolted out the door, "I know, I know."

Robin was smiling sheepishly at the doorway, giving me a wave just before I could grab her hand and begin to lead her to my room. "Seth, Robin. Robin, Seth."

"Hi," Robin answered as I pulled her right by him.

Seth shook his head, "Teenagers."

I closed the door behind us. "Thank you for coming."

"Of course," Robin answered as she looked around my room. "You have so much music," Robin was sifting through the pile of records on my floor and pulled one from its sleeve.

"The Doors," I grinned, "Excellent choice!"

Robin stood back a step, looking me up and down. "We have to do something about this."

"Gee thanks, Robbie." I teased.

"No," Robin said apologetically. "You're gorgeous as always, I just think your very first ever date needs a little something…extra." Robin strolled over to my small closet and pulled open the door, sifting through the hangers one by one. "This. This is the one."

Robin turned around excitedly, holding up a skimpy burgundy velvet dress. I gave a look of uncertainty. "Are you sure?"

Robin hesitated from the look on my face. She looked down, holding it in front of her against her body. "What? This is hot." Robin turned back around, grabbing my denim jacket from another hanger, "And this." She threw both items down onto my bed and waltzed over to my dresser excitedly. "But, for the main event…"

"What are you doing?" Robin went right for the drawer with my intimates.

"We need a little something for the main event."

"Robin Buckley," I started, "Eddie is not going to be seeing my panties."

Robin laughed, "Right."

I gasped. "You don't believe me?!"

Robin laughed harder. "I see the way Eddie makes you blush. Hear me out, would you rather be prepared w/ cute lingerie or would you rather be caught by surprise and him see you in your granny panties?"

I frowned. I definitely didn't plan on anyone seeing my underclothes but she definitely had a point. Robin was already sorting through everything and she pulled out a black lace bodysuit. "You know, for someone who's never been on a date, you have a lot of sexy choices here."

"Sometimes I like to dress up." I answered as I caught it in the air. Robin gave me a mischievous look and I answered right away. "For myself, thank you."

I reached around her and grabbed out my favorite pair of fishnet tights. "At least let me have these." I turned around and began stripping to change, throwing on layer after layer. I turned back around for her approval. "How does it look?"

"You look fantastic!" Robin cheered.

I smiled, "I'll be right back." I ran to the bathroom attached to the room and grabbed my box of makeup from under the sink, coming back and throwing it on the bed.

"What's all this?" Robin asked, sitting down across from me.

"I figured I could do your makeup too?" I offered. "As a thank you, and besides we've got some time to kill." I was going through my collection, setting certain products aside and grabbing my brushes.

"I haven't had girl time like this in ages," Robin mused.

"That's because you're so glued to Steve's ass." I answered smartly.

Robin gave me a look. "Sometimes I feel like Steve is the only one who really gets me, you know?"

"So what's your guys' deal?" I began tapping some foundation on her face. "Are you two like a thing?"

Robbin chuckled, I grabbed onto her chin to hold her still. "No we definitely are not a thing."

"That's a surprise." I answered.

"Wyatt…" Robin began, getting quiet. "Steve isn't really my…type."

"Okay…" I pressed.

"I-uh.." Robin was refusing to meet my eyes. "I–"

"You're gay, aren't you?" I finished for her.

Robin looked at me, worried.

"Robbie," I started reassuringly, "I don't care that you're gay. There's nothing wrong with that."

She was quiet for a moment. "Does that make this weird for you?"

"Absolutely not, Robin." I scolded. "I adore you. And I don't give two shits who you're attracted to."

Robin smiled, clearly relieved. "Even though I just saw all your underwear."

I shrugged. "Robbie, you just saw me change. I truly am not bothered by it."

Robin shot forward, pulling me into a tight hug. She didn't let go immediately. I could tell she was grateful that she had that off her chest, and relieved that I didn't react how she clearly expected me to. I hugged her back, just enjoying the moment of silence and friendship.

"You're seriously the best," Robin finally says. "I truly mean that."

I finished up her face while she chattered happily away about her crippling crush on a red headed girl in band with her. I could tell she was so excited to finally have another girl she could speak so freely with and knowing that she didn't have to constantly rely on clueless Steve for advice. I held up a mirror for her. "All done."

"Wooooww." Robin sighed, tugging down at her eyelids a little.

I pulled her hand away from her face, "Stop pulling at your skin, Robbie, that's how you get wrinkles."

"Sorry," She answered, still admiring her beauty. "I just… I didn't know I could look like this."

I pulled the mirror down from her face and gave her a stern look. "Robin, first of all, you're stunning the way you always are."

"Do you ever look at other girls, girls like Chrissy Cunningham and just…"

"Feel out of place?" I finished, standing up facing the mirror and beginning on my own makeup. "Yeah.. more times than I'd like to admit. I'm certainly not your 'fair skinned, blonde haired, blue eyed princess'. I'm more like a feral raccoon."

Robin chuckled, tossing a pillow at my knee. "Raccoons are cute, though."

"Oh, the cutest," I agreed. I finished up my makeup, snatching my polaroid off my nightstand and hopping back down criss cross style on the bed next to Robin. "Smile!"

We snapped a few pictures, Robin taking a few that she liked and putting them in her pocket. It felt like we sat there and talked for hours more and I could feel my nerves building the longer we sat there.

I heard Steve's car pulling back into the driveway and it made me a little sad. I hadn't actually spent time with someone outside of school like this in a long time, and having the chance to just be a teenager for once was nice. For the last few hours I actually felt like a normal highschool kid and not the 'freaky new girl.'

Robin quickly scribbled down her phone number with a Sharpie on the bottom of one of the many pictures we took and set it against my lamp. "You absolutely have to call me the second you get home, Wyatt. I mean it. I want to know EVERYTHING."

"You'll be my first call." I answered.

Robin threw her arms around me in a goodbye hug. "Thank you for today. I needed it. I'll see you first thing tomorrow."

Before I knew it she was gone. I sat back down on the bed, turning off the music. Seth walked back through my open bedroom door. "She seemed nice." Seth noticed my clothes and looked uncomfortable. "I know you're not wearing that to bed…"

"No, dummy." I answered. "I-uh– have a date.. I think."

Seth's eyes lit up. As a big brother and my only guardian he had been looking forward to his chance to shine in that department. "REALLY? A date?"

"I guess." I answered, fidgeting with a loose thread on my jacket.

"With who?" Seth teased.

"...Eddie" I still couldn't meet his eyes.

"I can't believe it," Seth started, "My precious baby sister has her first date. That's so fucking cute."

"Don't start, Seth."

"What? It's cute."

"We aren't doing this."

"I'm not doing anything–"

There was a knock at the door and my stomach nearly flipped out of my throat. Oh god.

Seth grinned a wide, mischievous grin. "Well, well. I wonder who that could be." He headed over towards the front door with much excitement, grabbing the camera from where it had been left on the bed.

Jesus Christ. This was going to be humiliating.

I beat Seth to the door, hoping to scoot out before he could absolutely embarrass me. I swung it open to see Eddie standing there, hands deep in his black jean pockets. "Hey!" I grinned at him.

Eddie's face lit up when he met my eyes, his smile so bright it lit up the sky better than the pink and orange sunset over the horizon. "Wyatt.. You look…"

I cut him off, "I'm sorry. Robin was over here and we were just hanging out and playing around with makeup and clothes and stuff… If its too much I can-"

Eddie stopped me immediately. "Are you kidding me?! You look stunning." Eddie began to get nervous, scratching at the back of his hair again. "I mean, you always look stunning of course, but now… this is…"

"Don't let her fool you, Eddie." Seth chuckled from behind me, slinking his arm over my shoulder. "Her and Robin spent hours picking this out just for you."

Eddie laughed and his blush matched mine.

I smacked Seth's arm away from me. "Liar."

Seth faked a look of offense. "I would never!"

I moved towards Eddie, making it apparent we needed to get the hell out of Dodge before Seth said or did anything else. "I'm ready when you are."

We made it a few steps toward Eddie's van before Seth cut us off. "Not before I get a picture of my baby sis all dressed up. What kind of waste would that be?"

I rolled my eyes, "Absolutely not, Seth."

Eddie grabbed my arm, pulling me to his side before I could get far enough away. "Only if I get to keep one."

The camera flashed before I could sneak away. "Deal. There's one for me."

Eddie placed his arm gently at the small of my back, his body pressed tenderly against mine. I was giving Seth a look of murder as I flipped him off where Eddie couldn't see me. Eddie placed a simple kiss on the side of my head just as Seth snapped the picture. Eddie snatched it from the camera immediately, pulling me towards the van alongside him. "And that one's for me."

"Catch ya later, kiddo!" Seth called after me, "Don't do anything you wouldn't do with me there!"

I flipped him off from the passenger side window as I rode away with Eddie towards the main road.
