"It's too dark, I can't see a thing. Stupid flashlight, come on!"
In a dark and cold room, a single beam of light shot out. Its end resting on a cold stone wall.
"These caves really are deep."
The girl spoke in a whisper, a certain strain to her voice. Her body trembled; something about the place put a certain degree of terror in her.
"Why did this have to happen to me? I never did anything bad…I…"
Her flashlight flickered. She froze. As the light resumed she continued to walk.
"I just want to go home…"
The girl continued on her path. How long had she been in here now? An hour maybe? Now more time was passing, and she was getting lost. Suddenly she ran into something, cold and hard. She let out a cry, and pointed the light in front of her. A wall. A stone wall, which contained some sort of manuscript on it. She let out a small whimper, holding her hand to her cheek where she had run into it. She looked at the manuscript, trying to decipher it, but it was in another language, another tongue.
"How am I supposed to do this? I can't even read the directions!"
She began to cry, her hands over her face. She leaned against the wall. She felt something move, a stone embedded somewhere. She turned around and using her hands to feel against the wall, pushed the edged piece inward. Suddenly a wall rose, and she walked through the small passageway. It was much lighter, and just as she reached the finely lit room her flashlight gave out. Good thing. She tossed it, and proceeded to walk down the stone hallway. After about a mile of walking, she reached a dead end.
"What, but all this way!"
She slammed her fists against the dead end, and then turned behind her. The lights were slowly going out at the other end, and coming towards her.
"No!"
She screamed and pushed against the wall. She had to do this, she had to find the text at the bottom, if she didn't she would have no way of finding the artifact. She turned around, the lights going out; pretty soon she would be engulfed in a long hallway of darkness. She felt around, but nothing. It was a complete dead end. She felt at her feet, nothing. The flashlight! No, she had tossed it.
"No!" she screamed.
She turned and looked up from the floor she knelt at. The lights went out. She was in a complete pitch black hallway. At the top of her voice she screamed, crying. Then a thought hit her. She could go back, it was only one way, and she had just reached a dead end. Maybe the flashlight hadn't gone out, but just flickered. She would walk back, in the one direction she could, and pickup the flashlight, turn it on, and return to the previous room, where she would continue her search. Yes, that's the plan. She started to walk again, and decided it would be quicker to just run to the very end, the way she had come. She began to sprint, and suddenly, crashed again. She fell to the floor. Stunned, she looked up. The path she had come from was sealed completely off. She heard a rumbling noise from behind. She felt behind her, and only a few inches away she felt the same dead end she had reached before, but this time, it was moving.
"No! Someone help me! Please! No!"
She screamed, and felt around her. The hallway she was in was closing in on her, shrinking. She pushed outward, but even the slayer strength she could manage couldn't hold the stone slabs from moving. She continued to scream and cry, and the walls around her got closer and closer. She felt herself being pushed by the wall, only to be slammed into the other one. Her face kissing the cold stone. Others had been in this same position. She turned her face, she looked like an Egyptian she thought, sandwiched between stone. Her tears smeared against her cheek. The walls closed all around her, she whispered something one last time, and then was cut off.
