Hiro felt smug as a siamese when he got home from Krei-Tech, he got an internship! Take that Karmi and Mikan. He thought to himself.
"Hey Hiro!" Cass greeted him. "How was your day?"
"It was great." He grinned. "I actually got an internship today!"
"Oh, really?" She raised an eyebrow. "Where?"
"Krei-Tech."
"Oh." Cass seemed to remember her failed date with Krei as she winced. "Well, you have fun there."
"Thanks Aunt Cass." He flashed her a thumbs up. "Is Ari home?"
"Mhmm." She nodded. "She's in her room."
"Okay, later." He waved and began walking up the stairs.
Ari was sitting by his desk, writing something on a piece of paper, an envelope next to her.
"Are you writing to your crush again?" She yelped, nearly dropping her pen.
"I uh.." Ari was a shade of red. "Why do you care?"
He didn't reply, and took a seat on his bed. "So, I got an internship at Krei-Tech today-"
"Oh god. You actually did it, you absolute madman."
"Hey! I'm not gonna fall behind to Karmi at her stupid fancy internship and her stupid parade she's not inviting me to-"
"Actually she requested for me to bring you as my plus one." Ari interrupted. "Speaking of that, how dare you go to Sycorax and not invite me?!"
"You were at school."
"Did you have to rub it in my face?!"
Hiro snickered as Ari tried tossing a pillow at him. "Ow! Calm down sis!"
"I'll calm down when you apologize for your bragging!"
Beep.
Then both turned at the sight of Baymax getting out of his charger, and waddling up to them. "I was alerted to the need for medical attention when you said-"
"Oh, we're good Baymax." Ari waved it off. "We're just having a pillow fight."
Baymax titled his head. "Fighting with pillows does not seem like a good option."
"Oh no, it's a lot of fun." Hiro handed Baymax a pillow. "You toss pillows at people, like a fight, a pillow fight!"
"Throwing an object at someone can cause blunt force trauma." Baymax pointed out. "It does not sound like fun."
"I mean you throw it softly." Ari chimed in. "C'mon we'll show you-"
And so the two siblings started a mild pillow fight with the healthcare companion in the middle.
Later that night…
Sara was wiping down the windows of the closed Noodle Burger. "Okay, we're done." She yawned, it wasn't the one she worked at, but management was paying her extra to clean up so she took it.
And it was kind of awkward considering she was closing the restaurant with one of the managers, who was also named Sara.
The lights were turned off, but as they were about to leave, Sara heard mechanical whirring and the lights were flipped back on.
She was about to investigate but she heard the manager yell, "Noodle Burger Boy!" And Sara flinched. Then noticed the manager running up to the former customer happiness robot which was somehow active and in the restaurant.
"What the heck?" She mumbled as the manager hugged the robot.
"Why'd you try to destroy the city? You broke Assistant Manager Brad's heart!" She heard the manager tell the robot. "Ooh, but right now, I'm just so happy to have you back."
NBB whirred and turned to her. "Can you tell me how to get home?"
"Home?" Sara raised an eyebrow. "But this is your home."
"No! I need h-h-home cooking!"
"You want a hot noodle pie?" The manager offered.
"No!" Sara jumped back as she saw sparks from the robot. "If you can't help me, then… Order up!" His eyes glowed a menacing red.
"Wait no!" The manager cried as NBB started punching booths.
"I-I-I have to go home." He stammered, then jumped on the counter and kicked the computers.
"Yeah, haw, a hee-hee. I'd do anything for a Noodle Burger!" He sang as he caused destruction, the manager tried to grab him but he jumped off the counter. "'Cause Noodle Burgers are really s-swell, y-yeah!"
"Oh god." Sara looked away as he terminated the ball pit.
"If-If I c-could I'd marry Noodle Burger. 'Cause Noodle Burgers ring my bell! D-ding dong!" Sara then grabbed the manager and hid behind the counter as NBB swung from the lights. "Oh Noodle Burger, you rock my world-"
"This is disturbing." She winced as a table and the jukebox flew into the air.
"Y-your noodle buns so crunchy your noodle fries so curled."
Sara ducked as ketchup and mustard started flying. "I am not cleaning that up." The manager shivered behind her.
"Noodle Burger… AHHHHH!" Then NBB started spewing pickles everywhere and she bristled as one landed on her.
"So long ladies." He waved to them. "I'm going home!" NBB then bounced out of the joint.
Sara took one look at the damage and nearly passed out, condiments everywhere, booths shredded, and so many broken computers.
She watched as the manager dialed a number. "Brad, I have bad news."
And as a faint scream was heard from the other line, Sara thought she should probably take a break from work after tonight.
"A familiar noodle nuisance attacked a local fast food franchise." Bluff Dunder was reporting, the gang was in the food court listening to the news. "Lettuce hope Big Hero 6 will ketchup to this mechanical menace." The reporter chuckled. "I wrote that myself. But seriously, the property damage was extensive."
"How the hell did Noodle Burger Boy survive?" Gogo questioned.
"Maybe because he's a robot." Honey Lemon guessed.
Hiro flinched at the word "robot." Wait, if he survived, did Trina as well? "Should we tell Mikan about this? I mean NBB is her 'little brother' so to speak."
"Nope." Fred shook his head.
"Yeah, Sara probably told her already." Gogo nodded in agreement. "This is superhero business, just because she knows our identities doesn't mean she's involved now."
"And what do you guys think he meant by home?" Wasabi frowned. "I mean, isn't Noodle Burger his home?"
"Home means a place of residence where one lives." Baymax stated. "Noodle Burger Boy previously resided at Obake's lair, which is now destroyed. So Noodle Burger Boy no longer has a home."
"We're overthinking this." Honey Lemon shook her head. "We need to find him as soon as possible."
"So, day patrol?" Hiro gestured.
"Hiro, your internship at Krei-Tech starts this afternoon." Baymax reminded him, the calendar showing on his screen.
"Oh, right." He deflated. "Sorry, guys, I'm out."
"That's okay, Hiro." Honey Lemon reassured him. "Freddie?"
"Patrol is my middle name!" Fred held two cups to his eyes like binoculars. "Well, actually, it's 'Flamerion,' you know, my mother's maiden name, but still, pretty close!"
"I should probably go get ready." Hiro got up with his tray, about to prepare for his first day at the internship. But noticing a familiar girl sitting by herself surrounded by books gave him an idea. "But first.." He started walking over to her.
"Oh no." Gogo and Baymax both knew what he was about to do.
As Karmi was deep into her journal, Hiro stopped by the table. "Hey, uh, Karmi. Didn't see you there." She gave him a deadpan look. What does he want now? "I'm just heading over to my internship."
"Uh, where?" She questioned. "Loser, Loser, and Associates?"
Hiro didn't reply to the taunt. "Actually it's at Krei-Tech. Maybe you've heard of it." He sat across from her.
Karmi rolled her eyes. "You know, the last student who interned at Krei-Tech was roped into it her first year at SFIT because of the small print on her contract, and she ended up nearly suing the company because working conditions were awful."
Got him. He started to stammer. "W-w-well that was probably a long time ago."
"It was Sara. Last year."
"Well Krei-Tech has changed since last year." He crossed his arms.
Give me a break. "Honestly, I think it's sad you feel the need to copy me." Because you're better than this you moron. "But Liv did warn me I'd get 'fanboys.'"
"I am not-uhg." Hiro groaned. "Look. I've got very important work waiting for me."
She just rolled her eyes and waved her hand. "Get to it then."
"Fine." He huffed.
"Fine." She watched from the corner of her eye as Hiro and his robot exited the food court. Hopefully for him Krei-Tech is nicer to their employees. While she wasn't friends with the middle Fern kid, she did overhear some of her bad work experiences that David and Mikan were angry about.
Hiro deserves a lot better than-wait what the heck am I thinking?! Uhg! Pull it together Karmi, he's just trying to get in your head.
And it's working… Darnit.
Superhero Squad group chat:
Ariel: So what are you guys patrolling for? I missed the news
Flame Jumper: Noodle Burger Boy
Ariel: HE LIVED?!
Speed Queen: Unfortunately
Chem Girl: Don't worry, we'll catch him!
Ariel: Yeah I know, but did Trina survive?
Captain Cutie: Uch
Chop Chop: Aren't you at your internship?
Captain Cutie: Yes but I can still use my phone!
Chem Girl: Ari you're safe right?
Ariel: I haven't seen NBB since he went evil.
Captain Cutie: Where are you?
Ariel: Hanging with Karmi on her way to Sycorax!
Captain Cutie: Uch (x2)
Ariel: Jealous much?
Captain Cutie: I AM NOT JEALOUS
Flame Jumper: Phase 2! Anything can happen so be careful!
Speed Queen: Enough with the phase 2!
Ari giggled as she put away her phone. "What's got your giggles?" Karmi asked her.
"Oh, just my friends." She blushed. "They make me laugh." In spite of potentially dangerous situations. "So…"
"So…?" Karmi raised an eyebrow.
"How's Sycorax treating you?" Ari asked. "Hopefully well."
"It's going great!" Her friend beamed. "Liv already put me to work on some cell modifications and-" She paused. "Oh sorry, you'd probably get confused."
"Yep." She nodded. "That's me, I'm bad at science. Though I meant emotionally, have you made any friends there?"
"No." Karmi shook her head. "I didn't get an internship to make friends, I got one so I could learn."
Ari frowned. "Wouldn't you get lonely?"
"Well I've been hanging with Liv a lot, so I'm not lonely." Karmi pointed out.
"Yeah but..." Ari bit her lip. "She has higher power over you, so don't you have to be nice to her so you can keep being an intern?"
Karmi gave her the most offended shock she had ever seen. "How dare you insinuate that?! I should-" But stopped when seeing the watery eyes.
"'M just worried about you." She mumbled. "I can't hang out with you as much anymore… And I wanna make sure it's worth it."
"Oh, Ari." Karmi patted her shoulder. "Never lose that compassion of yours."
"Kind of hard to lose." Ari gave a small smile. "I have a great support system and friends like you whenever I'm down. And I'm always cheery!"
Karmi raised an eyebrow.
"Mostly cheery." She winced. "But people wouldn't hang with me if I wasn't..."
"That's not-"
Crash!
Ari watched as something brown and white spotted crash into her friend and both her and the intruder were knocked into the ground.
"Uch!" Karmi grumbled. "Watch where you're-"
The intruder was Hiro, who was holding a… cow costume?
"Hiro?" She raised an eyebrow as Baymax helped her back on her feet.
"What is that?" Ari pointed to the cow costume.
"We picked up dry cleaning." Baymax told them.
Karmi rolled her eyes. "Wow, you were right. That's very important work."
"Very important." Ari added, snickering between words as she tried to hide her smile.
"Oh, uh, this?" He gestured to the costume in his arms. "This uh.. Isn't for Krei it's-"
"You have a text from Alistair Krei, quote: 'pick up a cappuccino on your way back from the dry cleaners.' end quote." Baymax told him.
"Baymax, bad time."
"You also have a text from Steven Ferns, quote: 'if Krei texts you to pick up a cappuccino, he actually means macchiato, trust me on this.' end quote."
Karmi blinked.
Ari blinked.
And then they couldn't hold in their reactions. Both of them started laughing their heads off.
"Brother oh how far you've fallen!" Ari wheezed.
"Ohhh, that is just sad!" Karmi wiped tears from her eyes.
Hiro just turned red from embarrassment as he glared at his sister. Traitor...
"Okay that's enough." Karmi stopped giggling. "I've got to get back to my lab, fun hanging with you Ari but Liv and I are working on a super exciting science project."
"Bye Karmi!" Ari waved.
"Oh, and Hiro?" Karmi bent down to pick up the cowbell that was still on the ground, "I think you dropped this." She handed it back and snickered as she walked away.
Hiro just glared at her, and then to Ari. "What?" She shrugged.
"You're a terrible sister."
"..."
"I didn't mean it like that Ari don't look at me like that don't cry oh god-"
"Hiro-"
"YES I KNOW BAYMAX QUICK DO SOMETHING!"
Elsewhere…
Mikan was just lying on her couch after a day's work. "Hey sis?" She saw David walk to her. "You okay?"
"Just tired." She yawned. "Why do you ask."
"Sara was worried about you." He rubbed his neck. "She told Mom and Dad that she was scared that you'd hurt yourself."
Is she still worried about Sycorax? Mikan groaned. "Look, my internship is fine, they have a lot of safety procedures and I'm not a dumb kid anymore-"
"I meant mentally, you hurting yourself like Sara hurt herself when we were-" David sighed. "I don't know why all our friends are mad at you, maybe it's because of Obake-"
Mikan flinched.
"Maybe it's not, but that's gotta hurt inside."
"Not really." She shrugged. It was understandable that her friends aka Big Hero 6 would be annoyed she was a mole for one of their enemies, even if it did hurt to choose being against her dad in the end. Ari was a little vindictive in making me apologize though, and at least Hiro chats with me. She'd allow them their space from her, at least she was making a few friends at Sycorax. "Don't worry, I'll be fine."
"If you say so, I just worry." Then they heard a knock on the door.
"I'll get it." She stood up, opening the door. "Can I help y-"
Mikan froze in horror.
"Mika?" David called out. "You okay?"
At the door, was someone she thought was gone, and now he was standing in front of her door, red eyes and all.
"Howdy and h-h-hello Mik-ka." NBB stammered.
She paled. "David, hide." Mikan told her brother.
"But-"
"Now!" He yelped and ran into the other room.
"Ge-gee sis. That's really not swell of you to do." NBB whirred. "I t-thought we were pals!"
She just growled at the small robot. "How did you survive that blast?"
"It was easy! Big sis and I hid in a box." His eyes glowed red as he fired his laser eyes, which hit her leg and she cried in pain. "Humans can be so fragile!"
"Trina survived too?"
"Yeah but she's reaaaal mad at you." NBB bowed his head. "Sh-she's gonna make you pay. So I guess you're not big sis Mika anymore!"
Of course Trina would be mad. Mikan frowned. "You don't have to do what she says, you're free to do what you want now."
"Pass! My old job is just a day old burger now!" The robot's head spun like an owl. "Do you know how to get home?"
"Home?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Home." NBB's eyes glowed red. "You said you kn-knew everything." He glitched. "Tell me how to get home or your home is served!"
"I-I.." Mikan trailed off. She remembered hearing about where the robot was made from Steven, but she just... "I can't remember."
NBB's eyes just glowed red. "Prepare for a combo order!"
"Wait!" David ran from his hiding spot and shielded her. "Do you mean where you were made? Is that home to you?"
He stopped charging his attack. "Where I was made?"
"Yeah, y'know." David trailed off. "Like a factory or company? Maybe poke around to jog your memories, I mean you must've spent a bit of time there before being shipped to Noodle Burger."
"Golly. I guess your 'soft-hearted siblings' were useful after-all sis!" NBB turned to her.
"Soft-hearted?" David frowned.
"Toodle-noodle!" He then broke the door as he bounced out of the house.
Both she and David just stood in silence. "Are you okay?" David turned to her. "I heard him use his laser eyes on you."
"I'm fine." She stood up, wincing at the pain in her leg. "Just..." Mikan pulled out her phone. "I gotta tell the others, maybe then can call Big Hero 6 and-"
"Aren't they still mad at you though?" He pointed out.
"Fair point." She grumbled, handing him her phone. "Call Honey Lemon, she's probably the least mad at me."
"Alright." David dialed the number, and the phone rang three times before being picked up. "Hi Honey Lemon! No Mika did not steal my phone-"
"Hey!" Mikan cried in offense.
"Wait you sound hurt, are you okay?" There was a slight mumble on the other line. "What?! Noodle Burger Boy attacked you too-oh he was downtown and Big Hero 6 did damage control... Um no I didn't get hurt but Mika got laser eyes to the leg because he broke into our house-"
A large "WHAT?!" was heard and she could tell Fred was next to Honey Lemon.
"I'm fine, Mika's fine-"
"I doubt they asked about me Dave." She shrugged.
David just huffed. "They don't want you dead, or maimed, jeez." He went back to the call. "Uh-huh, so can you tell the superheroes? Got it? Thanks, stay safe guys." He hung up. "Now all we need to do is clean up and hope we can put the door back together before anyone else comes home-"
"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED HERE?!"
"Too late." Both of them winced at Sally's loud volume.
AN: More of Internabout! And Sara and... Sara...
I forgot about the canon Sara before I named my Sara Ferns n.n; so I just refer to her as the "manager" but man I'll have to come up with a middle name for her when I get to S3... I feel so bad n.n;
And also yeah I hate writing glitchy NBB, I never wanna do it again after this episode. RIP the Ferns door XD
QOTW: Speaking of Sara's, which one is your favorite? Canon Sara? Sara Ferns? Or Sarah Rosemary?
