"Mika!" As soon as her name was yelled, she popped into the living room.
"You rang?" She asked Sara.
"Did you steal my cookies?!" The short blonde demanded.
"Your what?" Mikan raised an eyebrow.
"Cookies!" She showed the case where she normally kept her sugar cookies, and it was empty. "I know you took them!"
"Whaaa?!" Mikan frowned. "I didn't do it!"
"Then who did?"
"Anyone who wasn't me!"
"You-"
"Girls!" They both froze at hearing Sally's voice, David was behind her. "Can you two keep your voices down?"
Mikan flinched. "Sorry mom."
"I won't be happy until I find what happened to my cookies!" Sara huffed.
"I tossed them out." Sally told her.
"Wh-" she froze. "Whyyy?"
"They were going bad." David added. "I tried one and it tasted really awful."
Mikan chuckled. "Told you I was innocent."
Sally just glared at her. "Sorry." She squeaked.
"Anyways." The professor gestured to Sara and David. "I have to talk to Mikan for a bit."
"Okay Aunt Sally." Sara walked over to her brother, and took his hand. "C'mon, let's go to the Lucky Cat! I'll get you a donut."
"Yay!" David beamed as they left.
As the door closed behind them, Mikan felt her nerves jolt up.
"Calm down, you're not in trouble." Sally told her. "But I wanted to ask how you were doing."
"How am I doing?" She raised an eyebrow. "I'm fine, Sycorax is great I've made a few friends and-"
"I mean dealing with everything that happened with Bobby." Sally's golden eyes darkened. "Or Obake, I don't know why he called himself that."
"He wanted to be cool." Mikan told her. "He was always plotting the shadows." She sighed. "No wonder I didn't realize what he was doing until too late."
Sally placed a hand on her shoulder. "Mikan, none of us blamed you for following your father's orders, I know how it feels to struggle doing what your parents demand of you."
"I doubt it." She huffed.
"My parents actually wanted to put me in an arranged marriage when I was younger, and produce my own kids."
Mikan tripped. "Wait, really?!" She then froze. Sally never talks about her parents or her family, I thought they were dead or something.
"Even when I told them that I wanted to choose if I wanted to marry or not, and I was uncomfortable about going through a pregnancy, they never changed their ways." Sally lamented. "In the end, it wasn't much of a loss that I couldn't make amends with them when they passed."
"Oh, your parents are dead." Mikan noted. "What happened to them?"
There was an unreadable expression on her face. "I don't want you and your siblings to ever find out." She then turned away. "You can go now, I have some paperwork to do." And walked down the stairs, probably to the only room in the household they weren't allowed it.
The way she spoke had made Mikan shiver up her spine. What exactly happened to you Mom? But as of now? She was better off not knowing.
The gang was at Fred's house, Ari had heard what happened and tagged along.
"Fred, is there anything missing?" Gogo asked as he opened the fridge.
"Nope. Not even my Yaki Taco from last week is right where I left it." He gestured to the week-old taco in the fridge, which started to go bad.
"Ewww." Ari pinched her nose at the smell.
"I would not advise-"
Fred took a bite of the taco.
"Eating that." Baymax warned him, everyone else cringed.
"Well now we're back to square one." Wasabi frowned.
"Wait." Fred swallowed his taco. "We should probably check out my parent's fridge too."
"Your parents have their own refrigerator?" Gogo frowned.
"Yes. Your point?"
"Rachel's parents don't have their own refrigerator." Ari pointed out.
"I think it's a rich people thing." Honey Lemon whispered to the girl, who nodded.
Fred pressed his hand against a scanner and a section of the wall revealed another fridge. "Warning: stinky cheese ahead."
Ari pinched her nose again as the fridge was opened.
There were plates of cheese on every row, except the last one. Hiro took a crumb of cheese and held it out. "Baymax, how are you on cheese analysis?"
Baymax pinged. "Downloading dairy database." He then scanned the cheese. "Analysing enzyme characteristics. White Stilton Gold."
"White Stilton?" Honey Lemon pulled out her phone and looked it up, the results caused her eyes to widen. "Whoa, it's worth more by the ounce than actual gold."
"Thus, the awesome cooler." Wasabi pointed out. "I gotta get me one of those coolers."
Hiro turned to Baymax. "Why would the thief take cheese from Fred, and Rachel? Is moose cheese that rare?"
"According to my search. Moose cheese can only be milked during May to September. And it is only produced in Switserstan." Baymax explained to him.
"That's more about moose cheese that I'll ever need in my life." Ari commented, still pinching her nose. Fred then closed the fridge and she released her hand. "I wish I could help you guys with this."
"Maybe you can." Fred nudged her. "With your super cool water powers!" She just groaned in response.
"You mean, like this?" She went to the sink, pouring some water from the faucet and then bending it to splash his face. His greasy brown hair dripped down his face.
"Oh yeah, that's sure helpful." Gogo teased.
"Hey!"
Hiro turned to her. "How come you said you wish you could help?"
Ari sighed. "I told you guys, I'm not a superhero, and I'm scared that if I use my powers for fighting then I'll abuse them and hurt someone."
"You'll what?" Wasabi frowned. "You wouldn't do that."
"But I could. And that's what scares me." She shivered.
"Oh, Ari." Honey Lemon placed a hand on her shoulder. "You don't have to be a superhero just because you have powers. If it makes you uncomfortable, then it's fine."
"Thanks Honey Lemon." She gave a small smile.
Baymax's screen then activated, on the other line was the dean of SFIT. "Professor." Honey Lemon greeted her as they all huddled to the screen.
"Students, rare truffles have been stolen from Nobu Hills most exclusive restaurant." Granville reported.
"And we just figured out that the burglar stole expensive cheese from Fred and Rachel's parents." Hiro told her.
Ari gave a gasp. "Oh wow, the thief didn't steal cheese this time?"
"They have good taste." Wasabi added in.
"Yes, high-end foods. That makes the more probable target the Caviar Bazaar, or the Exotic Spicery." She typed the two locations that popped up on screen.
"Looks like we're splitting up." Hiro told the group.
"Thanks again for your help, Professor." Honey Lemon smiled at Granville.
The dean smiled. "Of course. And again, do not hesitate to DM me." She then closed the call.
"Did she just say 'DM me' again?" Gogo raised an eyebrow.
Ari frowned. "I don't even want to know why there was an again part." She shuddered. "I thought I was the seventh wheel of the team."
"You're not a seventh wheel, you're one of us!" Fred hugged her.
"Thanks, Fred." Ari chuckled. "But I'll feel a lot better when this burglar is caught."
"Same." Wasabi nodded in agreement. "Who would even steal expensive food?"
Meanwhile…
"Whaaat?" Sara exclaimed. "Someone has been stealing expensive food in San Fransokyo?" She and David had arrived at the cafe, but instead of seeing Ari or even Rachel, Detective Rosemary was having his usual cup of joe.
"Yeah, unfortunately there's a lot of other robbery cases going around so the whole office is running thin." Elio replied while taking a sip. "I was keeping watch here to see if the burglar would strike, but they appear to target expensive or pricey foods." Under his breath he muttered. "Including my cheese..."
David emitted a low growl, and Sara heard it. "David?"
"Detective, I think I know who the burglar is." He explained. "My mother."
Elio gave him a confused look. "Why would Sally Ferns steal expensive foods? She's an old acquaintance of mine, and she's not the one to-"
"No-no-no I mean my birth mother." David groaned. "Momakase."
Sara gasped. "Isn't she still in jail?" But when she turned to Elio, he looked rather uncomfortable. "And why did you think David meant Aunt Sally?"
"Well she's his mom." Elio shrugged. "Family isn't defined by who you share DNA with. But what makes you think it's your blood mother, kiddo?"
"It's one of her most simplest tricks in the book." David crossed his arms. "Whenever she's cooking for a big guest she sometimes steals her expensive ingredients because she's cheap. Or someone paid her. Maybe check if there's any big dinner events."
Elio wrote that down. "Thank you, it was very brave of you to tell me."
"Well, I love my mother, but she really needs to stop doing bad guy stuff, like really soon."
"Word." Sara nodded. "The sooner my siblings stop having to deal with jerky parents, the better." She then froze. "Wait, you know my aunt?"
"Well, like I said, old acquaintances." Elio sipped his coffee. "She actually said she'd name a kid after me or Sarah."
"Oh, you don't say?"
Superhero Squad group chat:

Ariel: How's it going guys?
Captain Cutie: Well David has a solid theory, I'm gonna say
Speed Queen: Why is that
Flame Jumper: Oh y'know, be careful : )
Chem Girl: Freddie ily but now is not the time for smiley faces
"Who charges that much for saffron anyways?" Wasabi narrowed his eyes at the prices. He, Honey Lemon, and Gogo were at the Exotic Spicery, guarding in case the burglar struck there. "Seriously, I am not putting something that costs thousands of dollars on my food."
Honey Lemon chuckled. "I don't know why that bothers you so much."
"Because what's the point, Honey Lemon?" He exclaimed. "Why charge so much for a spice?"
"Wasabi, calm down." Gogo told him. "We have a mission to do."
"I'm just saying!"
Gogo could only chuckle. "Well, least it seems the burglar isn't going to strike at this point-"
But as soon as she said those works, a blade was tossed at one of her disks, slicing it in half but also cutting her armor. "Arhg! I got hit!" She hissed, clenching her arm to try and stop the bleeding.
Wasabi and Honey Lemon turned around, to see the masked figure that had robbed Fred's. Then they removed their mask, and they both gasped.
"I see you don't know how to keep your guard." Momakase taunted.
Wasabi activated his plasma blades. "Surrender, and I might go easy on you."
"Your friends tried out that, and it went poorly for them." She readied her katana. "This time, I won't go easy on you."
Honey Lemon charged and tossed her chem balls, but Momakase sliced it in half before it exploded. She then tossed another knife, causing the chemist to yelp and duck, but the knife grabbed her chem purse and it hit the wall. Before she could go to grab it, Momakase ran over and knocked her to the ground.
"Is it just me, or are you all getting rusty?" Momakase questioned. But she used her katana to block a blow from Wasabi.
"The only one who's rusty is you!" Wasabi retorted, adrenaline pumping in his veins.
"Oh, you're rather cocky today, are you?" She grinned, her katana went through his plasma blades, deactivating them.
He then felt his fear return, he nervously gulped as the katana was pointed at him. "Lucky for you, I'm on a tight schedule." So she merely knocked him to the ground, he saw Gogo try to stop her, but she was knocked onto the ground as well.
They were all helpless as she broke into the spicery and stole some of that expensive saffron. When she left, Wasabi found himself struggling to get up from the ground, the bitter taste of defeat weighing on his shoulders. "Are you guys okay?"
"I'm fine, just hope this isn't infected." Gogo gestured to her bleeding left arm, Honey Lemon ran over.
"We have medical supplies at our place." Honey Lemon pressed her hand against the wound. "C'mon, we can treat our injuries before regrouping at SFIT."
"I hope Hiro and Fred did better than us." He sighed.
They were wrong.
"I-I am in need of repair-pair-pair…" Poor Baymax's endoskeleton was all beat up, and Hiro was desperately typing on his computer to fix him.
Honey Lemon gently brushed his metallic head. "Oh, poor Baymax." She murmured.
"What happened?" Gogo questioned.
Hiro sighed. "Momakase happened, she's our gourmet burglar."
"I was afraid of that." She held up her bandaged left arm. "Got me too."
"Oh god Leiko are you okay?!" Fred ran to Gogo to inspect the wound. "Did she break your arm, do we need to call the hospital?!"
"Fred, I'm fine." She gently nudged him away.
"Leiko?" They almost jumped seeing Ari next to Hiro, she had been so quiet they didn't notice her. "Who's Leiko?"
"I'm Leiko." Gogo raised her hand.
"Wait… Gogo isn't your real name?! Or is Leiko a nickname? I'm confused."
Hiro just sighed. "Oh, Ari." He chuckled. "'Gogo' was just a nickname Fred gave her, do you think her parents actually named her that?" She shrugged, making him laugh again much to her frustration. "Sorry, but never change, sis."
"Can I ask why you're here?" Wasabi raised an eyebrow.
"I got worried, I wasn't wrong." Ari then looked at him and Honey Lemon. "What are your given names?"
"Mine's Rodger." He replied.
"Mine's Aina." Honey Lemon giggled. "Wow, haven't heard my name in awhile, though it's fine to call us by our nicknames, Freddie gave them to us and it's cool!"
Ari just gave a slow nod. "Wait, why don't I have a cool nickname? Or Hiro?"
"One, I like my current nickname." Hiro rolled his eyes. "And two, really Ariel? Really?"
"Touche." She then looked at Baymax. "Wait, shouldn't he scan for Momakase?"
"Hola, me llamo Baymax." The robot slurred.
Hiro just gestured to him.
"Oh, no." Wasabi commented since Baymax was out of commission to say his signature line.
Baymax then patted Gogo's face. "Votre professionnel de la santé."
"Great, his language setting is fried too." The teen genius groaned.
"auf einer Skala von eins bis zehn."
"Let me guess, he roughly said on a scale of one to ten?" Ari raised an eyebrow.
"Probably." Fred shrugged, then his eyes widened. "Brb, getting food!" And he ran off. "I got some on our way here!"
"Hold on a minute." Gogo held up her phone. "Don't you guys think it's weird we didn't get any news about Momakase getting out of jail?"
"David told us that-"
"David couldn't have known at the time since he didn't visit her." She glared at the teen genius.
"Momakase escaped."
Granville walked up to the group, startling half of them. "They kept it quiet. Didn't want to alarm the public."
"I guess." Ari shivered, probably thinking of when she and Karmi were kidnapped by the sushi chef/mercenary.
"Wow, Professor Granville, how did you know that?" Honey Lemon gasped.
She held up her phone. "I DMed the warden, Gary."
"And I have so many 'how' and 'why' questions right now." Wasabi whispered to Gogo.
Fred chose at that moment to come back, holding a fast food bag. "Who's hungry for some Noodle Burger?" He asked the ground, pulling out one of the burgers. "Or should I say chicken Noodle Burger?"
"The Cock-a-Noodle-Doo is back?" Ari and Wasabi questioned.
"Only for a limited time." But as he was about to eat his beloved meal…
"No." Granville slapped it out of his hands, and it felt like time slowed down as it slammed onto the ground.
A blood-curdling scream was heard from the comic fan. "WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!?"
Sara felt a shiver down her spine. "You okay sis?" David asked her.
"I feel as if something Noodle Burger related happened and it was awful."
"Weird."
"Superheroes should eat super food." Granville snapped her fingers and one of her security bots crawled in, wearing a maid outfit for some reason as it carried a plate. "That's why I made you kale nuggets."
Hiro blinked at the steaming plate. "Uh, kale?" He turned to Granville.
"Yes, eat up now." Granville clapped her hands, they could not say no to Granville.
"I'll take one." Ari whispered to him, Hiro sighed as he and his friends reluctantly took a bite.
"Uh.."
"Mmmm.."
"Thank you."
"Capital barf- I mean capital yum!"
"Yeah."
"Mhmm."
"volt ir vi a lalipap?" Baymax lifted a wrench to Granville, who gently batted it down.
"Neyn a dank." She replied. "You four will have to go on night patrol while Mr. Hamada stays to fix his robot." She then left, the security bot following her.
Once she was gone, everyone spat out their kale. "Bluegh!" Fred stuck his tongue out. "Who would eat this stuff?"
"Y'know, probably Juniper." They all gave Ari strange looks. "What? She told me she's a vegetarian, except she eats fish sometimes."
"The fact that you know that scares me." Hiro blinked.
Gogo just stared at where Granville left. "We have created a monster." She tossed her piece of kale onto the floor.
But, unknown to Gogo, and the others. There was an actual monster being created.
At none other than Sycorax, just like how Liv showed her true colors behind closed doors, the company looked darker behind the sunset. It's green lightning making it eerie and suspicious.
"You did so well, once the payment is made you'll get your upgrade." Liv grinned, dimming the lights a little. "Try and remain still as possible." She told Momakase, who just huffed.
The sushi chef/mercenary was lying on a large scan machine. Liv typed something into the keyboard as the machine whirred and hissed. She clicked a button and a small chip was produced, it instantly was put into an injecting gun.
Liv held the gun as she looked down at Momakase. "You might feel a slight pinch."
"Just get it over with." Momakase didn't look scared at all.
"As you wish." Liv pulled down her collar, leaving the neck exposed.
Momakase gasped and her eyes widened as the chip was injected into her body.
Elsewhere, David gasped.
"What's wrong?" Sara asked him.
"I feel like… something really bad happened." He shuddered.
AN: Disclaimer I put Baymax's multiple language dialouge into google translate so if I'm a little off on that, that's why.
Oh yeah, and this chapter was the best way I could share the rest of my hcs of the Nerd Gang's actual names! So sorry if it was forced, I was trying to get it out there. I really like my hcs for their names, and I'll probably use them every now and then as I continue.
But man, ohhhh man, we're getting close to poor David's reaction. He is not gonna be happy for that. I'm really proud of how I wrote him and his mother this chapter, tee-hee!
QOTW: If you were served food cooked by Momakase, would you eat it? Why or why not?
