It was an ordinary day. Birds sang, cars polluted the air, and Heero scowled at anyone unfortunate to cross his path. He quietly made his way to work. Hands in his pockets, he sullenly glanced around before entering the establishment. He would never live it down if anyone he knew found out where he worked part-time. Especially a long haired baka by the name of Duo. He went into the back room to change into uniform.
Oh how the mighty have fallen! To think he was part responsible for saving the earth and here he was working at some meager job that required him to communicate and talk to people. Normally, he wouldn't be doing such a thing but he needed money quick and plenty of flexibility. He added to the last of his uniform by placing a hat on top of his head.
He walked out of the break room to check what duties he was responsible for today. The plastic board that had the layout of the back of the establishment had various names in different places to signify their station. His eyes roamed the board until he saw his name. Eyes narrowed dangerously, he gritted his teeth.
Didn't he specifically request not to be stationed there? Does the commander enjoy seeing him annoyed and on the verge of pushing the 'self-destruct' button? Remembering his mission, he prepared himself for the hardest assignment ever. Already seeing his target ahead, he kept his face neutral. Stopping, he glared up at a large man, whose appearance screamed out dangerous.
His commander was already up front on the battle line where the enemy seemed to grow in numbers. "I have secured you a spot and don't forget to smile." The commander smirked then left. Heero wanted to throttle the man. Tearing his killing eyes away from the commander's back, he steeled himself.
He knew that his commander was watching him from a distance and would probably dock his pay if he didn't perform his duties to the best of his abilities. Using every bit of self-control and strength he possessed, he flashed a smile to the customer in front of him, "Is this for dine-in or carry out?"
AN: Just a thought I had hammering away in my head and needed to be placed on text. Hope you enjoyed reading as much as I had writing. Who knows, maybe a sequel will come from it if I get enough reviews.
