In the dark night of San Fransokyo, very few people were out. Then again, it was well past midnight, few would be awake during this time.

Well, except one stubborn boy.

"Hiro."

"Huh?" He was doing a solo night patrol with Baymax, flying around the city and making sure no crime was going on. "What is it?"

"It is close to 1 AM, you should go to sleep." Baymax told him.

"One more circle around the square…" Hiro replied.

"You have school tomorrow."

"I know."

"You will not be able to function at full energy if you do not get proper sleep."

"I'm aware." He shrugged. "I can just take a nap in-between classes." His desk wasn't that uncomfortable of a place to nap on.

"I do not understand why you refuse to sleep." Baymax changed course. "This requires drastic measures."

"Huh?"

"I will make sure you go to sleep." The healthcare companion told him.

Hiro groaned. "Uhg. You're no fun Baymax."

"Proper sleep care is good for you." He replied, then stopped flying mid-air. "Hiro. I am detecting an unknown being running through Sunset Boulevard."

"What?" Sunset Boulevard was where the San Fransokyo main police department and hospital was, if something attacked the buildings… it would be bad news. "What's over there?"

"Scanning." Baymax whirred. "The being has a strong signature of canine DNA and several unknown strands. I will need to scan it more thoroughly to determine what the strands are."

"Fly over there." Hiro told him. "Let's take a look at what it is."

"It is heading our way."

"What?!" He then saw a blur run through the streets, it was too dark to narrow down the details. But he saw it was large, with thick shaggy fur, a long tail, four paws, and a snarling muzzle. It looked up at the superheroes with glowing yellow eyes, baring its sharp teeth. Hiro froze in horror.

"Wh-wh-wh…" Then before he could say it, the creature ran into an alleyway.

"Hiro. Are you alright?" Baymax asked him.

"I don't think I am." Hiro replied. "That was a-"

"Werewolf?" The next day, he was repeating his encounter with the group as SFIT. "Hiro, there's no such thing as a werewolf." Gogo shook her head at him.

"You said there was no such thing as the Hibagon, and look what happened!" Fred pointed out.

"Freddie has a point." Honey Lemon nodded. "We've seen a lot of monster attacks."

"Yeah, and didn't Momakase kind of turn into a werewolf?" Wasabi questioned.

"Uh, more of a werecat than a wolf." Fred elaborated. "But I'm surprised it took this long for a werewolf to show up! I've got a lot of silver at home."

"At least it's not a vampire." Hiro added. "I don't think I would've slept if it was."

"Did you get any sleep last night?" Gogo asked him, looking up at Baymax.

"He did not." Baymax answered.

"Did too!" He protested.

Honey Lemon frowned, she placed a hand under Hiro's eyes, when removing it she saw the make-up on her hands. "Hiro…"

"Can you blame me?!"

"Not really." Wasabi shrugged.

"Wasabi, not helping!"

He ended up falling asleep during the day a few times. Including the class he had with Granville, he groaned as a hand prodded his shoulder. "Leave me alone…" Hiro mumbled.

"Get up before she notices you sleeping." He cracked an eye open, seeing Karmi's reddish-brown eyes stare at him with worry.

"Karms?" He whispered. "What are you doing?"

"Saving your butt, Genius Boy." She whispered back. "Get up, she's coming over!"

Granville stopped at their desk. "May I ask what you two are talking about?"

"Professor Granville!" Karmi awkwardly smiled. "I was just helping Hiro with this question he was stuck on." She gestured to the paper assignment they were working on.

"Hmm." The dean hummed. "Mr. Hamada, is this true?"

"Yep!" He quickly nodded. "I'm really stuck on this, Karmi is really helping me out."

She smiled. "I'm glad to hear." The smile was still on her face as she checked the rest of the students, the teens gave a sigh of relief.

"That was close." Hiro sighed.

"Yeah." Karmi nodded. "Why were you snoozing in class?"

"Uh…" He didn't want to share the supernatural thing he witnessed. "I couldn't sleep."

"Oh." She frowned. "You should sleep when you get home."

"I know." Hiro groaned. "Um, how do I solve this problem?" he tapped a question on the paper.

"Huh?"

"You said you were helping me."

Karmi rolled her eyes. "Here, first you weren't using the correct formula, you have to multiply this by-" She paused, seeing Hiro fall asleep. "Not again!" It was going to be a long class.

Hiro wasn't the only student who didn't get any sleep, as Honey Lemon was walking to the Robotics lab, she crashed into someone. "I'm so sorry!" She helped them back up.

"It's fine…" It was Mikan, who had literal bags under her eyes. "Hi Honey Lemon."

"You don't look so good." Honey Lemon frowned. "Did you get any sleep last night?"

"No…" She whined. "I was working pretty late at Sycorax, Liv put me in a group project, someone flaked so I had to cover. It ended up lasting until past midnight."

Honey Lemon flinched, as that time matched up around the same time Hiro saw the werewolf. "What was the project?"

"DNA and RNA splicing some stuff." Mikan shrugged. "Too tired to explain details."

"Oh, it's fine." She kept her smile. "Want me to walk you to where you're going?"

"That'd be great, I don't trust my sense of direction right now." The snow-striped girl chuckled. "I'm trying to find David and Sara."

"Okay! Let's find them together." Honey Lemon beamed. As she and Mikan walked down the hall to look for the other Fern kids, she kept thinking about what she heard.

Mikan was working on something in Sycorax around the same time the werewolf was about… We know that Liv is most likely responsible for the monsters, is this another one of her schemes?

Ferns and Nerds group chat:

TheLittleMermaid: One of my classmates was legit snoozing during lunch today, like… he brought a blanket to school

Hiro Hamada: The irony

Rachel Rosemary: Irony?

Fredzilla: Hiro got no sleep tonight

Gogo: I wonder why

Hiro Hamada: I tried sleeping! It just ditched me

Mikan Ferns: Same. Not even coffee can keep me up

Sienna Kline: Welcome to the life of an artist. You'll fit right in

Honey Lemon: OMG

Rachel Rosemary: I felt that

Sienna Kline: I stayed up until five to finish a painting once

David Ferns: Please take care of your health

Fredzilla: Tell that to the person writing this past midnight

TheLittleMermaid: Wut

Fredzilla: What?

Later that night...

"I do not detect the 'werewolf' anywhere." They were in superhero gear standing on top of a building, looking for the elusive werewolf Hiro had spotted.

"Awww!" Fred pouted. "I was hoping to see it!"

"I'm glad we didn't." Wasabi flinched. "If it bit us, we'd turn into werewolves. And there's no cure!"

"I'm pretty sure an exorcism would work." Honey Lemon told him.

"How do you know that?" Gogo took a step back from her girlfriend.

"Oh y'know… middle school me was into the supernatural." She grinned.

"She was." Wasabi added. "I almost forgot, because you creeped me out!"

Honey Lemon just chuckled in response.

"I am detecting Noodle Burger Boy and Trina." Baymax stated. "By Good Luck Alley."

Hiro groaned. "Not them again!" Of all the times for the robot sibling to cause a mess.

"Wait. I thought Baymax couldn't scan for robots." Fred questioned.

"I upgraded his scanner to detect brain waves." Hiro explained. "He must've found theirs, robots give off different brain waves than us humans."

"Yes." Baymax nodded in agreement, preparing to take off. They all hopped onto his back, or in Wasabi's case, clinging onto his arms.

"Dude. You should work on your fear of heights." Fred told him as they flew into the skies.

"I can just use my car!" He protested.

"Yeah, but it's not as efficient as my super jump, or Gogo's speed, or HL's slides."

"He has a point." Hiro nodded. "I'll see if I can either upgrade your car, or find another solution."

"Thanks!" Wasabi grinned, then shrieked. "I looked down!"

As they arrived at Good Luck Alley, they saw NBB first. "Shh." Hiro shushed them as they stood in front of the alley, waiting for the moment to ambush them.

"Big sis!" NBB exclaimed. "I think the wolf is gone!"

"Are you kidding?!" Trina exclaimed. "She got the slip on us, again!"

"They're looking for the werewolf?" Hiro questioned. "And I told you guys it's real."

"Wait, we don't know who the werewolf is, but they're called them a her?" Honey Lemon whispered. "I got a bad feeling about this…"

"Can we go back home before the Big Hero misters arrive, they really boil my buns!" NBB protested.

Trina walked into view, she was still in her mech-suit, which looked to be in more prime condition than their last encounter with her. "No! I'm not going home until we find Mikan and make her pay!" She slammed a fist. "She's a fool for perfecting her werewolf serum when I'm around, and I won't stop until I have a fancy new rug to decorate our headquarters."

NBB cocked his head. "Gee whiz, I don't get it."

"Of course you don't Noodle. You weren't around when Mikan 'wolfed out' at first. I'm a little shocked she did it again considering how last time it was a disaster." She explained. "But she still needs to pay for betraying Father, and what better way than to hunt her down like the beast she is."

The superheroes gasped. Mikan was the werewolf?

Their friend who was a snarky biotech major, who always kept their spirits up with her jokes, and did her best to make amends when she messed up...

She was the very beast that was striking fear into the city?

"I can't believe it's Mikan." Hiro stated. They had quickly skedaddled, since none of them were in the mood to battle the robotic siblings after that shocking revelation. They were now at Fred's house to discuss what they were going to do.

"Aren't we overreacting here?" Wasabi protested. "Maybe Trina and NBB were just assuming the werewolf is Mikan."

"She was up late at night the same time Hiro saw the werewolf." Honey Lemon pointed out. "It could be her."

"Yeah, and Mikan's a biotech student who also interns at Sycorax." Gogo added. "She'd have access to their technology."

"But it doesn't make sense!" The physics major pointed out. "Why would Mikan turn herself into a werewolf?"

"Maybe Liv turned her." Fred guessed. "But if Liv did, how come Mikan turned back?"

"Maybe it's another villain who mutated." Hiro suggested. "It could be Yama, since he's rather large in size, and the werewolf looked to be the same size as Knox."

"But Yama is still in prison." Baymax replied. "Perhaps the werewolf was a regular canine that mutated."

"Liv did donate a canine unit to the police force…" Honey Lemon frowned. "I remember looking that up in an article, and I think Detective Rosemary brought it up when we teamed up with him."

"Yeah, he did!" Wasabi nodded. "Before I took the bait for the Silver Ravens, he mentioned Jax was part of the canine unit Liv donated."

"See?!" Hiro gestured.

"But we don't know if Liv is behind the monsters, so probably not one of the dogs."

He groaned. So close!

"Perhaps we should talk to Mikan about this." Baymax suggested. "If Mikan truly is the werewolf, I am concerned about David and Sara, they could get hurt."

"That's right!" Gogo nodded. "Both of them care about Mikan a lot, they could get hurt…"

"Yeah." Honey Lemon shivered at the idea. "I don't want either of them to suffer."

"Neither do I, Honey."

"Alright, we'll pick this up tomorrow." Hiro yawned. "And if she is the werewolf, let's hope we get to her before Noodle Burger Boy and Trina do…" The latter was angry at her sister as much as she was angry at Hiro. Who knows what she'd do to Mikan once given the opportunity for revenge at what happened with the star?

That night, Hiro couldn't sleep.

Again. He kept tossing and turning in his sheets. "Uch." Not even snuggling with one of his stuffed animals helped. And when he did get rest… his dreams were filled with snapping jaws, wolves snarling, and his friends becoming monsters.

"Uhhhhhg!" Hiro pressed the pillow against his face.

"You've said that for the sixth time." Ari commented. Oh, right. His lack of sleep was causing his sister not to sleep.

"Sorry." He told her.

"What's eating you?"

"Another monster." Hiro explained. "This time a werewolf."

"Oh." Her reaction was mild.

"We think it's Mikan."

She fell off the bed. "Mikan?!" Ari got up. "Why her?!"

"Because Trina and Noodle Burger Boy seem to think so."

"Oh, well I'd look for more evidence before thinking it's Mikan."

"Not just that, now that I think about it." Hiro frowned. "I remember when I was captured by Obake… he said Mikan had an accident when she was younger that made her value safety when doing science." The fact that Obake had sounded annoyed by Mikan valuing over her safety instead of science was concerning...

"Huh."

"And considering how crazy he was, I wouldn't be surprised if he saw being turned into a werewolf as 'mostly unscathed.'" He gestured with air quotes.

"Didn't Baymax say that Obake had damage in his brain?" Ari raised an eyebrow. "He couldn't tell right from wrong at that point, he wasn't crazy!"

"Yeah, I know." Hiro sighed. "But his condition was treatable, he left it unchecked, he chose to discard his moral compass and nearly kill the entire city. He chose doing all those bad things instead of being a father to Trina and Mikan." He squeezed his stuffed dragon. "I wonder if he thought about the consequences of his actions at the very end…"

"Hiro…" Ari sat next to him. "You've got a lot on your mind."

"I sometimes wonder how I could've ended up like him."

"You're not like him!" She held him tight. "You're brave, you're caring, you're a hero."

"Thanks, sis." He smiled. "Are you gonna stay here tonight?"

"Well neither of us are getting sleep anytime soon, I'm willing to try anything." He just howled with laughter. Eventually they fell asleep in each other's arms, while a wolf howled at the moon outside.

Ferns and Nerds group chat:

Sienna Kline: Oh my god someone's dog was barking all night I s2g

Rachel Rosemary: Are you sure it was a dog? Sounded like a wolf

Hiro Hamada: What are y'all talking about?

Mikan Ferns: Uhhh

Sienna Kline: There was a LOT of barking outside my school dorm, it kept me up.

TheLittleMermaid: It was a werewolf!

Fredzilla: ARI

Sara Ferns: Ari ily but werewolves don't exist

David Ferns: And even if they did, they're all gone u.u

Rachel Rosemary: In this city I wouldn't be surprised if it was a werewolf

Sienna Kline: I think it was just a husky, they're close to wolves

Mikan Ferns: Oh

Hiro Hamada: Anything you wanna add Mikan?

Mikan Ferns: Nope

TheLittleMermaid: Really?

Mikan Ferns: Yeah no.

Sara Ferns: You heard the woman

Fredzilla: suspicious…

Mikan Ferns: I have nothing to say?

Mikan Ferns: Like I think y'all have become paranoid since the monster crisis began

Mikan Ferns: Looking at you Hiro

Hiro Hamada: HEY!

TheLittleMermaid: I mean she's not wrong…

Hiro Hamada: You're supposed to be on my side!

Honey Lemon felt her nerves shoot up when she saw Mikan in the hallway. I never noticed how sharp her teeth and eyes were. Mikan's green eyes often narrowed into slits when angered, and she always had her canines poking from her lip. Maybe I'm imagining things, a lot of people have sharp teeth but that doesn't mean they're-

"Honey Lemon?"

"Aaah!" She jumped. "Didn't see you there Mika!"

"Mikan." The snow-striped girl corrected. "Only my siblings can call me 'Mika.'"

"My bad." Honey Lemon chuckled. "Uh, did you get better sleep last night?"

To her worries, Mikan shrugged. "Meh, tossed and turned a bit."

"Work at Sycorax keeping you up?"

"Yep." She nodded. "Liv looked into my project that got me into SFIT, so she asked for a recreation."

"What was your project?"

Her green eyes sparked with excitement. "I was looking into animal DNA, did you know that it's in your genetics if you're a dog person or not?"

"No… I did not." Honey Lemon sweatdropped. "Uh, I hope you're not having any accidents."

Mikan huffed. "Pfft. It was one time when I was a kid! I lived."

Honey Lemon winced. "What happened?"

"Oh nothing too serious!" Mikan shrugged. "Just messing around too much and it backfired."

"The fact that you said you lived from it has me concerned."

The snow-striped girl waved it off. "Eh, could say the same about some of your endeavors." She continued to walk down the hall.

I really don't want to think you're the werewolf Mikan. Honey Lemon thought as she watched her go. You're a good person, and you've already been through a lot. But if you're putting people in danger...

Sure, the news hadn't talked about the wolf sightings, but she had heard from Fred that last time there was a strange animal sightings, it put the city on edge.

If there was news of a werewolf?

It could be the very thing that would send San Fransokyo into a panic.

And Honey Lemon didn't want to think about that becoming a reality.

AN: Funny how this week is a wolf episode when there was a full moon a couple days ago. Also happy anniversary to the series today n.n

If it wasn't for my love of the show and how amazing it was, Heroes of Flowers wouldn't exist, so hope you guys have a great day today!

Also yeah, there's a werewolf plot... c'mon it's the monster arc, of course there'd be a werewolf scare... XD

I've foreshadowed (or, well tried to) this plotline with Mikan a little, as mentioned before, so hope you guys enjoy the ride!

QOTW: since it's the series anniversary, what's your favorite thing from the series?
